Last week the president gave a speech on the deficit, rightly trying to convince Americans that it is now beyond unsustainable. Yet his theme was that the Republicans’ attempts to reduce it were cold-hearted, endangering the most vulnerable among us, such as those with Down’s Syndrome, while protecting the proverbial “rich” from commensurate sacrifice. Let us, then, look at Obama, and the context of his speech, as a doctor might a patient.
Symptoms of the Illness
a) Obama just introduced a $3.5 trillion dollar budget with a $1.6 annual deficit — both record numbers. (If worried about debt, why then run up more record debt, if not by design to ensure higher taxes and larger deficit-run government?)
b) Obama ignored so far all the recommendations of his own blue-chip debt committee. (Why appoint an honorific committee that is to be humiliated?)
c) Obama demonized his opponents in precisely the manner that he had earlier warned against, both in his calls for a new civility following the Giffords shooting, and in promising not to demagogue cuts to entitlements in cheap partisan fashion. (Does his entire audience suffer from amnesia?)
d) Obama wants now to raise taxes on the “rich,” though right after the elections he had agreed that these hikes were a bad idea in such uncertain times. (An unwise idea in December is a needed one in April?)
e) Obama warns against shutting down the government in protest of unsustainable debt, though that is precisely what he voted for as a senator in 2006, when the deficit was about 1/5 of what it is now. (A Senator Obama would have been a President Obama’s worst nightmare?)
f) Obama said that neither he nor Warren Buffett needed another tax cut, although Buffett is the second richest man in America, who pays less a percentage of his income than most of those who make above the dreaded $250,000 — and Barack Obama is the country’s most privileged American who pays for virtually none of his own expenses. (The average optometrist really earns like Buffett and has no expenses like Obama?)
g) Obama still talks about ObamaCare, but has given 1,000 exemptions from it, often to those interests who were most for it. (If he exempted the entire state of Maine, could he just do the same for the other 49 and call it a victory?)
Diagnosis of the Malady
a) An erratic, unengaged president is bored with the work part of the job, enjoying far more the golf, attention, influence, and perks (despite not getting a “cool” phone system with a drop-down screen in the Oval Office), and so he simply sleepwalks through his speeches, oblivious to the contradictions he presents. (Who cares if his Libyan misadventure contradicts almost everything he said from 2002-10, since he was already on to Rio and praising Brazil for drilling off-shore in a manner we never would. Life is short, but the job cool.) OR
b) The president is cynical and says whatever he wishes without worry of consequences, because based on the past abyss between laurels and achievement (Harvard Law Review, offer of Chicago Law School tenure, record in the Senate, Nobel Prize, etc.), he feels exempt from scrutiny and audit. Indeed, he expects that he can always “hope and change” or “millions of green jobs” his way out of any rare, nit-picking journalistic follow-up. (A journalist will always declare him a “god” even if speech A nullifies speech B a day later). OR
c) The president says, like most, what he must to be elected and now reelected; Guantanamo, renditions, Iraq, tribunals, Predators, preventative detention, public campaign financing, revolving door politics, earmarks, lobbyists, etc. — these are all just “constructs” without real absolute truth. They are bad or good, depending on the political calculus at any given time — a consideration that changes sometimes hourly. So Obama seems to have discovered that what he said to get elected, or even said two weeks ago, he need not say today again or tomorrow. Polls change, so do talking points. (He also knows that 50% of the citizenry receive some sort of government money; almost 50% pay no income tax; and in February more money was redistributed than collected by the Treasury. Therefore most Americans will stick by him whatever he says — as long as he keeps the money flowing.) OR
d) The president is Machiavellian and, amid his apparent confusion and misdirection, has actually quite adroitly moved the country far to the left since 2009. While his growing number of critics bemoan his inconsistency, disingenuousness, ill-preparedness, contradictions, and lack of persistence, Obama looks only to the fact that the nation in the last 30 months has come to look more like his vision than that of his opponents. (The Left may groan, but they grasp that Obama’s youth, mixed ancestry, charisma, and untraditional candidacy are rare gifts that can advance a once unpopular agenda in a way a McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, or Kerry never could.)

Barry Soetoro is a fraud.
You Republicans want to win the 2012? It’s simple, let the Bush tax cuts expire and bring in a new fresh face. First let me say, I’m a Democrat, I voted for President Obama, and I’m going to vote Democrat. 2012 front and center issue will be the deficit. The public will decide and vote who they think will solve the deficit problem and the Republican candidate that simply says, I’m sorry, I’m a staunch believer in lower taxes but President Obama is right, we have to let the Bush tax cuts expire temporary and raise revenue. Any smart voter knows President Reagan and President H Bush raised taxes even though they said they wouldn’t. Take away the biggest Democratic bullet point, with a set of new fresh face like Senator Rubio, go on the offence and force the Democratic to play defense, then you will win.
Your a Moron!
yore a mispeller!
yue maid mee laugt ot laud!
…thanks.
I like the word IDIOT much better.
All we have to do is run someone who will really get serious about the debt, a fresh face, and we will win… but you are a Democrat and will be voting for the Democrat no matter what.
Jackass.
The moment I read that you voted for Obama, I stopped reading your post. Anyone who could have voted for Obama is not anyone I wish to get lectures or advice from. I am far beyond you intellectually, as Obama never fooled me for a moment. I can’t discuss important events with an Obama voter. It’s like talking to my dogs – they tilt their heads at my words and wag their tails, but they have no clue what it is I am actually saying.
You shall marry me, no?
Obama has 13% of voters in the bag already the Racist Blacks who voted almost 100% for him just because they think he looks like them and who will do so again because they are too Racist to think and 20-25% irredeemable left wing moonbats who are so afraid of admitting just how wrong they were than add to that the 10-15 % who are just plain stupid and its easy to see how he won in the first place and how he could do so again.
Intellectually, please challenge me instead of calling me names. All you guys were going to vote Republican anyway. It’s the Independents that are going to decides who will be president. Let’s see how you look to the middle when one side is saying you have to cut spending and increase revenue and all you’re saying is to cut spending. It’s only going to look like you’re trying to help out the top 1% while the other side will look like they’re trying to solve the deficit. Even Alan Greenspan openly said the Bush tax cut has to expire to increase revenue. If you want to turn this into a class warfare which is the Democrats plan, the Republicans will lose.
@ Pragmatist – and the racist whites will vote against him 100% of the time because the President don’t look like them. The 20-25% irredeemable right nuts who will never admit President Bush was the worst President and President Reagan is over-rated will also vote their party. It’s the stupid 10-15% you mention who will decide the president in 2012. Let’s see who looks more “practical” in solving the deficit when one side is saying you have to raise revenue (tax increase) and cut expense (cut spending), and the other side is only saying to cut spending. Let the Bush tax cut expire, you will appease the middle and take away one of Democrats biggest hand.
“Mr. Reagan will raise taxes; and so will I. He won’t tell you. I just did.” – Walter Mondale.
It is not possible to raise taxes high enough to get rid of the deficit. Although Obama would sure like to try.
Here’s the irony of the pro-tax “protection of the rich” rhetoric from the left: The very rich who pay less taxes than most of the middle class anyway DON’T REALLY CARE WHO WINS. Ala the aforementioned Mr. Buffet. Yes they may have a preference for the conservative candidate but in the end most of them are prepared to deal with all outcomes. They all give generously to both parties for precisely this reason and are prepared for whomever wins regardless of party. As the great orator Foghorn Leghorn once said, “fortunately I have my feathers numbered for just such an Oh-cashun!”
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.
The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.
So true. My brother in law is a college educated professional, but he had to idea Obama went by the name Soetoro, or had a Marxist mentor. He just “thinks” Obama will do a good job, eventually.
Dagnabbit, Yippeya — I was going to cut and paste that exact same anonymous Internet comment about Obama being the “prince of fools. But then I remembered everybody already knows it’s a fake.
Yours is the most intelligent comment of the lot here. Impeccable logic, and, sadly so true. Obama is not the big problem, those who elected him, are.
Difficult to believe that this great nation could nurture such clueless citizenry.
Truer words have never been written. It’s horrifying to think this man was elected and even more so that he retains a 40+% approval rating. We have reached the point of no return when over have the populace receives goodies and pays no federal income taxes. To compound matters the Republicans have yet to field a canidate that stands a chance against the corrupt, billion dollar fueled juggernaut Obama will employ against us in 2012.
sorry: half and candidate
This is actually a very interesting point.
Why do they keep calling them the “Bush Tax Cuts”? Obama extended the cuts, didn’t he? The way I see it, the tax cuts belong to him
Great comment. You should post it as a proposal on http://www.whitehousevoice.com
Tax increases do not increase revenue.
Want to get the deficit under control? Cut spending.
That’s okay JL125..you vote for him. Remember the way you feel when you click off his name on that ticket when your stomach is growling and your children/family is starving. Wait for him to take your coat and blanket after he turns off your electric in winter months, which he says he’s going to do. Wait for death with dignity knowing you did it to yourself!
A gross understatement. He is a certifiable sociopath, click on Antisocial Personality, and should/must be confined in an asylum for the criminally insane.
Those who empowered him and those who continue to do so are just as guilty as he. The lies he tells are their lies, too. The babies he kills are their victims too. The faggotry he promotes is their perversion too. The crimes he fails to prosecute are their responsibility, too. The borders he fails to secure, the enemies he fails to deal with, the allies he fails to support, the economy he actively works to destroy are charged to their accounts.
Laugh now, you fools, because payday is coming, and the lake of fire awaits you.
Another comprehensive yet depressing summary of the facts by VDH. I hope and pray that he is wrong about the lack of concern by the voting public; but alas, the percentage of takers to makers is becoming Marxist leaning and as hard as we may fight, the numbers may not be on our side. Nevertheless, the fight must go on. 2010 was only Step 1. 2012 is Step 2. And we must perservere as strong and long as the progressives have over the past century. We must “never, never giveup”
Good Luck Greg. Maybe together you, John Bhoener and Nancy Pelosi can get ‘er done.
Good Luck Greg. Maybe together you, Mike Huckleberry, John Bhoener and Nancy Pelosi can get ‘er done. Keep hope alive.
# 2 Good luck, Gregg. Americans should skip the plans ABC and go directly to Plan XY&Z.
Watching it go down the drain from here. Answers, answers?
Greg, I admire and am touched by your admonition to “never, never give up.”
I have a sad confession. Over the past months, I’ve admitted to conservative friends and family that, for now – I’m sending money to candidates and causes that may be able to pull us back from the edge.
But. Come November 2012, if Obama is re-elected – I’m done.
My husband and I are aging. Selfishly, we will draw into our small community of family and friends and try to ignore the tragedy that befell our beloved America during the closing years of our lives.
I’m sorry. Truly, truly sorry.
That is exactly what I am looking at, soon. If people cannot see the complete retardation of this administration, we are done. Given the make-up of the electorate, I am not optimistic.
We can kiss traditional America and its constitution goodby!
The only army that can rise up and restore traditional America is an army armed not with guns and bullets…but the constitution.
Good luck on that! Americans have sat by for decades now, watching the transformation and listening to all the professed ‘problems’ as reguritated over and over by sites like this. Regardless of all the ‘barking’ by a minority number of folks, all are far to busy giving praise for all the government handouts they and their communities benefit from, to [seriously entertain] real constitutional restoration reform.
On the best of days, only about 3 to 6 millions folks are remotely tuned into what is going on in the nation!
Semper Fi
That’s on a good day, probably a Tuesday or Wednesday.
T. T. Thomas,
The Constitution didn’t work the first time. The Founders were as clever as they come, but even they couldn’t restrain a government. Time to give Anarchy(Zomg!) a try. Unless, of course, the comfort of slavery appeals to you.
Dave
Anarchy? Shorter, surer road to slavery than restoring the Constitution.
Quebec will separate from Canada, then the Maritimes, now physically separated from the rest of Canada will want to become independent. Maine and New Hampshire will separate from the United States of Obama and form a new Atlantic Maritime country. Oh yes, I forgot the Republic of Vermont and the Republic of Texas.
More likely the Great state Of Arizona will be the first to secede with Jan Brewer as the modern Sam Houston. Do it Arizonians….take a vote to get out of a country that can nullify states rights but won’t allow the state to enforce even FEDERAL LAW.
We are a country of sovereign states….not a federal government made of slaves to the feds.
If Arizona does it…I’ll be one of the first to apply for a visa. And stand a post at the borders.
Your thoughts are my thoughts. My husband and I are also aging and aghast at what has happened to “the shining city on the hill.” If Obama is re-elected, the U.S. is finished. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the Constitution is abrogated and carted out of the National Archives and destroyed. New rules will be put in place–socialist/communist rules. I wonder what all the young people who have had affluence beyond belief, cell phones, I-Pods, cars, fancy houses to live in, etc., will think when they’re cast into mediocre or poor lifestyles and forced to struggle just to feed themselves. Maybe we need to hit the bottom of the bell curve to wake up and start the climb up the other side. It’s hard to be hopeful when you look at the mess we’re in. God help America.
2 years may not be soon enough. You can count on the Chicagah Gangstah to use his veto to block every reform Republicans present.
Better to get your loans paid off, your credit cards paid down and all your debts disposed of. Stock up on food stuffs and educate yourself about the whole “survival” thing.
I don’t think we need to head for the hills, unless we are “hills kind of people” any way. But if the economy tanks, be prepared because a lot of people will not be prepared and those people are going to be very, very pissed.
And the media is not going to tell those people the truth. In fact, Republicans will be blamed, big time.
Gun up, people. Gun up.
Sorry, but you DON’T want to pay off your debts. Inflation will benefit debtors (by letting them pay off valuable “old dollar” debts with “current dollars” worth much less. If you have money in the bank, you are a sucker because they will be worth less (in purchasing power) with every passing day. Take your time paying off those debts! They are getting lighter and lighter. The deck is stacked against savers and people who don’t overspend. Kinda makes you mad, right?? Thank you Tim Geithner and Ben Bernanke.
My wife and I are retired seniors. We lost half of our savings in 2008. Our financial planner advised us to put most of our remaining savings into bonds, so we didn’t recover a lot during the stock market run up the past year. We anticipate another major down turn thanks to the presidents policies, and wonder what will happen whenwe lose most of what we have left. All our friends are in the same boat. I worry all the time, like I never did before. I don’t trust my government to do what is right for me anymore. I guess when it is all gone, I’ll be left with a benevolent government giving me food stamps and platitudes.
I am sorry to say that this attitude is part of why we are in this mess. Since we can’t affect the election, we’re just going to enjoy ourselves while we can and forget it. There’s nothing we can do.
That’s what most of the population does already which is how Obama was elected.
We compare poorly to the people who began the American revolution. Good thing they weren’t like us (and you). Sad, sad, sad.
“That’s what most of the population does already which is how Obama was elected.”
That’s completely wrong. Obama wasn’t elected because the people who care about the welfare of the USA and its future generations became cynical and avoided the polls. Obama was elected because he had massive and unprecedented support from mainstream media and because tens of millions of people were too frigging lazy to find out who Obama was and what direction he wanted to take the USA. An hour or two of internet searching would have revealed his sleazy Chicago political ties, his perfect voting record (in the opinion of the Socialist Party of America), his self-aggrandizement and narcissism, his (and his wife’s) abhorrence of the history and “character” of our nation, his complete lack of leadership or executive experience, his dislike of capitalism and free markets, etc.
Quite frankly, Joe and Jane Average voters are self-centered, greedy, lazy nitwits who vote for good-looking, smooth-talking candidates who promise to maximize the government benefits most desired by the Averages.
We must not ever give in and give up. I understand your worries in this regard but if we all just give up, what is there left? There is NO better place than this country.
ConservUSA and other Patriots,
I agree. We should not give up. I don’t want to give up. But here’s the problem. We work hard and play by the rules. THEY DON’T.
Being prepared is just smart. So is “gunning up.” Which I have already done.
Carry on.
We have to get it through the “takers” skulls that without modifications to their “take” now, there will be no “taking” in the future. Less now=continue to take. Same or more now=zip in the future. Conservatives need to hammer on this message.
That is EXACTLY what Paul Ryan has been saying.
Have you not been listening?
Even when Paul Ryan, interviewed by Bob Schiefert, explains that they have taken the proposals from the Democrats playbook, they are rejected, and he’s described as “not an American” by the POTUS.
• not lower taxes, but keep tax rates the same, at current levels
• not lower corporate taxes, but maintain the same corporate tax revenues by cleaning up corporate tax rules – reform corporate taxes, (especially for small business) lower the rate to 25% concurrently with eliminating exemptions and deductions (outside of fundamental business inputs – labour, plant & equipment)
• cut back on government spending
• support economic growth/GDP growth to allow for higher tax revenues to be generated
• restore public solvency with higher revenues from greater economic activity and growth, and less government spending.
Those are the very ideas Democrats have supported, yet Paul Ryan is disparaged!?
This is about power, and being entrenched in ones views and personal goals at the expense of the greater good. Dialogue does not happen, there is no debate, and there is a cynical attitude in D.C. that all is a zero sum game.
That does effectively draw a line in the sand.
It’s based on whether one chooses for the individual to thrive and the nation’s current problems to be seriously addressed such that there can be the potential for greater prosperity, or for the status quo to continue, for larger government and a central government dominance.
Take your choice America – but there’s no need to wait to speak up.
If you want to be better off, make your voice known. If you want what the POTUS is serving up, then carry on (or is it ‘carrion’).
Obama’s lack of class showed through when he invited Paul Ryan to the speech, put him in the front row and then went on to insult him.
This was Barack as the NBA dunkster. Obama’s “in your face” jam.
But politics is not basketball and we don’t want our President to act like a 25 year old millionare hoopster.
It was disgraceful.
But what goes around, comes around and I fully expect Ryan to win in the final round. And on substance; not style.
Obama must be defeated.
Yes, and the truth ultimately surfaces. The question is ‘when?’.
In the meantime, that was definite cowardice by Obama. It’s as though he states he’d like to duke it out and has his security people hold down the opponent, and then gloats about his ability to conquer and lead.
Shameless – there’s nothing authentic about this person.
He’s worse than the punk nerds that sit behind a computer screen dishing it out, but would be the last to take a stand for the comments they put out.
Who gets the sense that Obama is willing to sacrifice himself, and put his country first?
Ryan finally sounded downright pissed at Obama’s awful speech. I wonder if events like this will induce him to run. Surely he sees that our country needs to be saved from the First Mental Patient?
@Cornhead at 6:04 pm: Should anyone be surprised by the President’s boorish behavior? Didn’t he do virtually the same thing to the Supreme Court at his State of the Union address last year? An old saying applies here: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Ryan should have known better.
An honorable man does the honorable thing. The comparison is stark!
…lack of class…
Yes, it was a replay of his SOTU display of contempt for SCOTUS.
I’m just surprised he didn’t have some itch on his cheek that needed to be addressed with his middle finger.
What’s the old saying:
If it wasn’t for “low class”, he wouldn’t have any class at all.
Very true of these specific examples and events. What becomes evident in his being, is an individual that in the pinnacle of problems, chooses trivial actions. It is indeed reflective of his character and beliefs.
He is superficial. He is not a leader. He is inept. He is dangerous.
For this, he has the lives of innocents at the mercy of a murderer right now. Look no further than Libya.
As I recall it, the saying was: If the left didn’t have Double Standards they’d have no standards at all.
He can lie so effortlessly because he cares not a whit about anyone or anything but himself. Whether he is a narcissist, psychotic or a psychopath hardly matters. The plain and obvious facts are that truth, ideology, the success of the country, and the well-being of the people mean nothing to him. He’s got his, and nothing is going to take it away from him. Up yours empirialistic America. You had your run, and now he has ended it. In two short years, 5 trillion in new debt has sealed the deal. He probably doesn’t even need to win again, but why not go for it. At the very least, he will have two more years of doing something he enjoys, rather than having to contend with the dreary boredom of dismantling a country. Win or lose, he will move on to revel in the adultation of the world, secure in the knowledge that Marxists, dictators, the literati, muslims and the billions of haters of western civilization will exalt him as the slayer of the western dragon for the rest of his life. The water slide of life worked perfectly. He never broke a sweat.
“adultation”? If only…
Dwight, I’m starting to worry about you. Your comments are getting shorter and shorter to the point one can no longer understand them, like Wallace Stevens’ later poems or the logs and messages of Donald Crowhurst, captain of the Teignmouth Electron.
#4 Fred Beloit,
Dwight was highlighting the fact that Anonymous misspelled adulation as adultation and since the discussion was centered on the man-boy currently serving (himself) as POTUS, the unintentional slip was apropos.
I’m not worried about Fred, even though I probably should be. ;-)
Obama is a sociopath.
…Glibness and Superficial Charm
…Manipulative and Cunning
…Grandiose Sense of Self
…Pathological Lying
…Lack of Remorse,Shame or Guilt
…Shallow Emotions
…Callousness/Lack of Empathy
…Irresponsibility/Unreliability
NOTE: In the 1830′s this disorder was called “moral insanity.” By 1900 it was changed to “psychopathic personality.” More recently it has been termed “antisocial personality disorder” in the DSM-III and DSM-IV.
Aren’t those symptoms also pretty much how we define a sociopath?
Professor Hanson,
Obama is a Godsend to you and lovers of reason… because he drives the thinkers of the world to… drop on their knees in humble awe of… Western Enlightenment, Natural Law and all the good man has ever figured for uplift.
Now, to breathe in the rare air of Higher Thought… well, now… that takes hidden pain of thinking. And you know, most of us find deep thinking somewhat repulsive.
But with Obama around, the entire planet is THINKING, THINKING, THINKING!
And therefore we must credit Obama for forcing Higher Thought upon us!
I know of no other agitation that could cause so many billions who would otherwise be latent, dormant or hibernating… to rise up with ONE GOOD MIND… and then, and then, and THEN!!!
Well, now, Western Enlightenment will be used as the sword that cuts the Gordian knot!
Some smart Californians will say, let’s cut all spending… except we’ll build four lanes north south on I5. We’ll make a new I70 from Fresno to Bishop. We’ll outlaw political correct laws.
The only problem is, the people born and raised on the L.A. Times and such will either die of fright, or riot or both.
So, after half of California burns that is better off burnt… the sane will rebuild.
As for California, so the nation.
After the unhappies burn a lot of D.C. that probably needs to have that happen… the problems of our nation, indeed even the world… will be satisfactorily addressed in about, say… 5 minutes?
The right thing to do… isn’t rocket science. It’s just facing up to the fact that the NY Times born and raised… will unfortunately self-destruct. That’s what they fear, isn’t it? That the rusty old sword will be unsheathed against their heretofore unchallenged knot.
Hell, it’s just a knot. The knot is not the problem. It’s MSNBC saying it can’t be cut. IT CAN’T BE CUT!!! (Lions, Tigers and Gordian Knots, OH MY!!!)
We shall miss them, shan’t we?
That was fun reading!
My fear is that I think I understand the picture you have painted and also see those realities you presented.
“Can this marriage be saved” was one of my favorite columns (Ladies Home Journal) I used to read years past while waiting for the barber. Your presentation suggests it won’t be saved, however, the ground under which this union–soon to crumble, will still be here, ready for the next sets of “players” to do what they will.
We call this history, right? Sometimes bright, sometimes dark, very dark…yet always evolving in one manner or another.
Well expressed thoughts which evade (or deny?) VDH’s final and main point:
The looters have engineered a new majority to the electorate. They’re the mouth-breathing gum chewers in the handout lines on their touch-phones.
They’ll take 10 bucks from homeless hustling of a ward heelers, and then vote as instructed. The ward heelers got their money funneled to them from the ‘stimulus’ hand outs.
VDH’s conclusion is correct. The illness will have to run its course — only a question how long the next Dark Age will last.
Well, I do fear the 2012 Presidential election will be a sham. Because the mediarats will it so, Obama will be reelected. Period. The L.A. Times killer gang and the NY Times hoodlum gang and the MSNBC brain-bash thugs… they will it so! And THEIR WILL BE DONE, by gosh and golly. Haven’t we taken their lessons?
Their lovely gerrymandering, their lovely tax-funded community hatefesting (oops, I mean organizing), their lovely Nazi-style propaganda… simply is too heavy a brainwash job to lift in 2012.
Our superiors in every way will Obama to be elected, and there is not much we can think, say or do about it.
But by 2016, the USA and indeed the world will look like one big expanded movie remake of Idiocracy.
You see, there are millions of idiots who would say, “If a new east-west interstate highway was made between Fresno and Bishop, I WOULD DIE!” Well, some day we’ll have to put their word to the test!
Because now, normal folks who still have their constitutions intact, folk that live near Fresno or Bishop… they say to themselves… to get to the other side of the mountain, “It’s killing us!”
And the idiots in charge of socialism, they put OUR words to the test!
Wonder who, in the end, wins?
Reality always wins.
And the socialists require a lot of money to project their reality distortion field. There’s never enough money to do that.
But the believers in Western Enlightenment and Natural Law, they let the energy of reality work for them. Common sense. Grandpa’s old advice. Plato’s for that matter. Even what God says in the bible.
So in the end, it’s not nice to fool with Mother/Father Reality.
It hits back hard.
No, not if we build more necessary workable infrastructure. (Like freeways for vehicles, or thought on the internet.)
No, reality hits back hard if we don’t. (Don’t expand freedom, liberty and truth for the following generations.)
And we haven’t been that kind of good for a long time.
welcome to africa
I fear that the infection is deep and the issue of the patient’s survival (our country’s) is very much in doubt. Communism has burrowed deep into our bones and it will take radical surgery to kill it. How ironic, that at the moment we defeated the Soviet Union, we were fatally infected with their cancer.
The KGB planned it that way. (Our infection, not their defeat, obviously.) Kruschev explicitly said as much.
The cure for this illness is the truth. An unvarnished, even-handed recital and reporting of the facts. The patient (us) would then use it’s inherent common sense and this medicine to recover from the illness afflicting us. Unfortunately, the doctor tasked with dispensing this medicine is a charlatan quack, also known as the American media. We need to sue his ass for malpractice.
Dr. Hanson:
Now that Obama has for the most part re-distributed the savings of the once middle class to those with their hands out around the world, do you still think it’s outrageous to think he might be a Marxist even though he may not carry a membership card in the party?
On a scale of one to ten where would you place the President on the question as to whether he is a Constitutionalist, a Socialist or a Communits?
As you describe Obama’s actions in this piece, do you still believe that those who saw through the empty suit two and a half years ago and have been screaming to high heaven what a threat he is to this country are loonatics, even maniacs?
Do you at this time believe it possible or even likely that Obama’s real agenda all along has been to turn the United States of America into just another third world stink hole?
Do you believe that He, The One, is truly the Messiah?
Since you won’t run for President in 2012, and Donald Trump has been hired by Obama to ensure his re-election, do you think that maybe it’s time for real Conservatives to rally around Sarah Palin as the Republican candidate in 2012?
If that doesn’t happen, do you believe the United States of American will be a sovereign nation in 2013?
Go Sarah. It just might be now or never.
I do like Sarah Palin and her instincts.
But look at the facts: governor of a small state for two years, a great speech and then she becomes a celeb.
Sound familar?
We can’t risk our country on someone so untested. Again.
Well you did get the major point right. Sarah Palin “governed” her state. Obama does not want to Govern, he believes he “Rules” the US.
Which of his staffers said “ready to rule, day one”?
It wasn’t a slip of the tongue.
So who ya gonna call? Looks like the left dominated media wants our guy to be Huck or Mitt-remember how well their choice in 2008 did?
I’ll take some one with strong conservative values anytime. Sarah has got the thick skin necessary, She’s been in the trenches the past 2 years fighting for conservatives. Where the hell has Romney or Pawlenty been?
She’s gone toe to toe with President Training Wheels. The left always tells us who they fear. Have you seen any attacks on the chuckleheads on our side? Are Mitt or Newt drawing the kind of fire Sarah is getting?
She’s even getting it from Rove and Krauthammer, what more do you need to see?
I and millions more conservatives are sick to death at the long line of “moderates” our party puts up. If we’re going to crash and burn, then let’s *UCKING GET TO IT. Let this nightmare get reelected. Let’s see blackouts and gas lines and donkeys walking the streets with pots and pans clanging.
It’ll be a positive affirmation of those of us that have made proper preparations and will thin the pREgressive cancer that is killing(killed) us.
VDH: Agree with your statements above and especially too with many of the commenters, “@cgw” as one example.
For some time now, public comments have been about what Obama says and ignores what he does. Obama has accomplished much of what his campaign promised with the exception of his promised civilian nation security force (CNSF) with a budget the size of the Pentagon. However, what Obama has is a large SEIU force that has shown an ability to mobilize at some locations and maybe that Obama’s way to avoid actually activating a extremely contentious force directly.
We have to totally ignore what Obama says his reasons might be for any of his actions and focus solely on what he’s doing. He’s getting ready to push America down the stairs and making sure it can’t get up.
But, Obama can be stopped, his agenda that is, and we need to allow him to show what he’s willing to do to take over this country. I truly feel that if it comes to a showdown, America will win but that showdown has to come from his impetus and not from ours. SEIU will push hard however, it’s not used to having folks stand up against it. If we can’t win this 2012 election, Obama’s Colorado promise of a CNSF will come true but much more than simply an armed KGB brigade.
“Patient Obama presents us with multifaceted, but now chronic and well-recognized symptoms.”
Obama’s symptoms reflect the plague that infects the people of the USA. People with the plague exhibit the following symptoms:
1. Self-centeredness and greed manifested as support for every politician who promises them more money and benefits.
2. Selective amnesia manifested as almost immediately forgetting statements and promises made by supported politicians.
3. Inability to reason manifested as the belief that governments can continue to get larger and dole out more and more goodies without collecting more tax dollars.
4. Coldheartedness towards others manifested as the creation of massive debts that will put terrible burdens on today’s younger generations and on future generations.
5. Apathy manifested as nonreactiveness to politicians and government employees chopping holes in our Constitution and stripping us of our rights.
Half the adult population of the USA exhibits more than two of the listed symptoms. The plague runs unchecked, and our governments actively promote its spread. A few idealists combat the plague, but they are ineffective because almost everyone who has the plague denies being ill. I feel like Elizabeth Driscoll at the end of the 1978 “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” when she realizes that everyone she knew has become a pod-person.
Thank you Dr. T! Political activists, always a very small minority of the overall population, are an interesting clinical study. They are always long on diagnostics for symtptoms and sorely short on ‘meaningful’ treatment protocols for the underlying disease….if ever diagnosed!
Is it a possibility that BO is in the White House for precisely the same reason the 9/11 suicide pilots were in the cockpits?
At any rate, I fear we’ve already hit the ground, and while we haven’t turned into a complete pile of ashes yet, we’re burning.
i’m with you.
why does obama favor the mullahs over the saudis? he bowed to the saudi king, but that king believes he favors the iranians.
King Abdullah has decided that obama is clearing the way for a nuclear iran, and broken with the administration over this, according to debka.
why favor the mullahs? could it be because, believing that the mahdi is coming soon, they are in an even bigger hurry to destroy America even than the saudis (who gave us 9/11)?
Possibly…but I think it’s more about Israel.
A disabled U.S. can’t come to the aid of Israel in the event of attack, the retaking of Jerusalem which seems to be the major objective of the Arab world.
So finally the Americans have been bought with their own money, like so many
other peoples. It has taken a long time, and much effort, and the fruits will
be bitter. Speaking as a Canadian I can only say that it is an immense sadness.
The US is the most creative land in the history of the human race.
Oil (drilling techniques in 1985 were amazing and they have moved forward since then – mostly
through American-developed technology), automobiles and mass production of same,
aircraft especially passenger aircraft, computer hardware, computer software,
advanced networking and social media, and many more: not all American inventions,
but all have been highly developed by Americans, and put into the
form of profitable businesses. Social networking alone is transforming the very fabric of our human-ness.
That it should all be brought to an end by this envious, bitter, and not very intelligent little Kenyan
(I don’t care where he was born; his intellectual development began with Kenya) is pathetic.
Speaking of Obama’s background: when I read “Dreams from my Father” my thought was,”whoa, this is intelligible to former members of the British empire; it is about Kenya; and Americans really don’t have political antibodies against it.”
Obamaectomy is needed ASAP to save the nation. Proctologist required. Would that be Dr VDH ?
There seems to be some form of attention deficit disorder operating here if you look at the seven symptoms listed by VDH. It seems to operating on three levels. First, and maybe by design, is the administration. Say one thing on a certain day, and then later, say something either different, or downright contradictory. Attention deficit disorder manifested by saying whatever feels right in the moment, not based on past statements and policy.
The second level is the media. Other than the conservative websites and broadcast sites, where is the media pouncing on these contradictions and pointing them out for what they are: the administrations attempt to stay ahead in the polls and end up a winner in Nov 2012. Attention deficit disorder manifested by the demands of the news cycle and the need to stay “current.” Today (April 18) the airwaves were replete with “who paid what in taxes and who didn’t pay any taxes.” One week from now, there won’t be anything on this, they will have moved on to the next BIG STORY.
Finally, there is the electorate, which ranges from people who are knowledgeable and follow events closely, to those who decide how to vote based on the last campaign ad they saw. You cannot push a string — so “one issue” voters cannot be forced to consider what they might view as peripheral (to them) but important to the country at large.
I would like to see the conservatives keep pounding home the fact that our outsized spending plans and spending history, have elevated this budget issue to a national security level and it is time to do something about it, even if it takes what some might regard as Draconian measures (means testing social security and medicare, for example.) Hey, to all those who protest, as a 60 year old American I say, you are probably still going to get more out of both programs than you put in, so suck it up.
If the conservatives present the budget/tax problem in this way, the ADD media will be forced to cover the story. Maybe then it will begin to sink in.
Frankj:
Forced to cover the story? How? One World Socialists are not afraid to die for their cause, they have the same mentality as the Japanese Kamakazi Pilots had in WWII and the Muslims who carried out the attacks on 9-11 had. It’s their duty, even desire to die. You don’t defeat that with hope and expectations for a better tomorrow based on good will toward all.
Maybe Sarah Palin could turn up the heat a little bit but without the immediate support of some grownups, which is unlikely because of the old divide and conquor tactic of the puppet masters of the conservative pretenders, expect more of the same old game played by hucksters, actors, make believe journalists, internet trolls and assorted professional politicians.
And then there’s Donald Trump and Mike Huckleberry to contend with.
All the world is still a stage. And all of the above are still bit players reading a script that never ends.
Will the point never be made that ten or twelve GOP candidates will once again divide those who if united might have a chance to rid this nation of Barack Hussein Obama?
I’ll know that conservatives are serious when I hear, “yeah, we may have to raise taxes a little on the top 2%.” Just POLITICALLY, if one is serious, one has to put that on the table. In the end of this go-round, that’s where I expect the Ryan-Boehner-Reid-Obama compromise to end up…but it will still take a while. Everyone has to play out their hand here.
If the government wants a significant increase in tax revenues, it’ll have to start increasing the money it collects from lower-income US citizens, the 50% or so who now pay no income tax. The Democrats know this also. Watch how they start proposing a VAT or other type of national sales tax, one that hits hardest those who live paycheck to paycheck. Their in-the-tank media allies, of course, will play along by not pointing out the regressive nature of all flavors and varieties of sales taxes.
^^
lol at moniker
about “taxing the rich”: is it is only the uber rich that can afford the lawyers, lobbyists, and accountants that enable them to traverse the tax code and grease the politicians that allow them to skip out on paying taxes
(nevermind the fact that lowering taxes amongst the taxpayers creates more revenue for the government)— taxing the rich only means more tax evasion
doesnt it seem curious that obama equates millionaires and billionaires as someone making 250k + 1 penny?
the reason for taxing the rich is to put those earning nicely (but by no means rich) back on the welfare plantation
/end of story
Dear ZZZ: Facts and actual experience from the past are irrelevant to these people. I am now reading KOBA THE DREAD by Martin Amis about the (literally) inconceivable horrors of Stalinism (hint: makes Hitler look like a piker.) In the 1920s, Lenin tried collectivization of farms because it seemed like a good idea. (No experience of anything like this, but what the hey, let’s roll it out across the whole country…sound familiar?) So many people died, US President Herbert Hoover stepped in, despite Lenin’s embarassment (!), and shipped grain to the starving. It is estimated that US intervention saved, perhaps, 10 million lives. But then, despite this terrible, terrible experience, Stalin did the same thing a few years later!! In the Ukraine alone, the richest agricultural region of the Soviet Union, about 5 million people died. So what is the point? The point is that facts and experience mean nothing to socialist zealots. Not only did Stalin try something that had already been shown to have disastrous results under Lenin, MAO DID THE SAME THING in China a few decades later, with the result of more tens of millions of dead. So don’t expect patient explanation or logic to change anyone’s mind. BTW, I strongly recommend KOBA THE DREAD–gripping read about experiences the left would prefer we don’t know about. (Interesting some of the most salient events of the 20th century are never mentioned in history textbooks, no?)You can buy it on Amazon for about 4 cents. Really. The first chapter is particularly good about how leftist intellectuals closed their eyes to the truth of what was happening in the Soviet Union because it didn’t mesh with their ideas of free money for all, diversity, love and peace. Kind of like how people are closing their eyes to the reality of where Obama’s policies could take us today.
The top 2% already pay 40 to 50% of all taxes collected, the top 10% pay 70% of all taxes paid. Not paying enough?
Better to make everyone who works pay at least a token amount so they have a stake on how the government spends money and not only on how to leach more from Uncle Sam. And no more refunds to those who paid NO income tax to start with!
Obviously, you are a very mean person, Michael. (sarc, duh.)
Not enough taxes on the “rich” is not the problem. The Democrats are fixated on class warfare because it gives them someone to blame and mask the real problem. It’s always “those filthy rich” or “heartless Republicans”. Just listen to Obama’s speech. The problem is excessive spending. The top 1% of taxpayers already pay 40% of all taxes. The top 10% of wage earners pay 71% of all taxes. Almost 50% of wage earners pay zero taxes. Obama in 2 years has raised the deficit by $3.5 trillion dollars; and he wants to continue at that rate. GWB raised the deficit $2.7 trillion in 8 years. What’s wrong with that picture?
“The top 1% of taxpayers already pay 40% of all taxes.” …and make what % of all the money being earned?
Does it matter, Dwight?
The steaks only get so thick. You can only spend so much money. What do you think they do with their excess cash, sleep on it? They reinvest it into the economy and make more that they cannot spend, and so reinvest it. This money, capital, gives business the means to operate. The rich are responsible for capital formation, without which, businesses go OUT of business. Taxing the rich more is plundering the capital. It kills the goose which lays the golden egg.
Truth be told, Dwight, it is not really about taxing the rich. It is about divide and conquer. Tyrannical types always need to give the masses an external enemy, an OTHER, so they are distracted from how the tyrants are giving them the royal shaft. The argument is always something like, “The Great Satan”, “It’s the Joooos!”, “the Evil Rich”, or “the Heartless Republicans”. Or as Homer Simpson says, “Oh look! Shinyyyy!”
Career politicians get re-elected, not by fiscal sobriety, but via largess. Their power depends upon it. It’s not the taxing. It’s the spending. All the rest is just a distraction. Focus on the specific spending, and even such as you and I will be able to agree on some things.
I’m wondering if the promises not to attack serious proposals that dealt with entitlement spending weren’t just a boxer’s trick: drop the guard to get the opponent to commit, then close with a roundhouse. Certainly the Republicans are all (or nearly all) on record voting to cut Medicare and evict the elderly (according to the Demspin machine).
Sucker punch…
We apparently no longer apply any litmus tests to public figures who assume positions of wisdom. We no longer ask, ‘Is the man educated? Does he speak well? Is he a man of honor who speaks the truth?’
speak not of this, for I will not hear.
He is indeed a fraud, but not totally a fraud. Soetoro-Obama’s past showed exactly who he was, and is. People like Pam Geller said so and were denounced, using the Islamophobe card.
And why is Barack-Barry not a thorough fraud? Because he indeed Marxist in his ideology as well as pro-Third World/Islam, ‘facts’ that were, again, easily checked and verifiable before the election.
Sorry, but the real fraud here – the real entity deserving of criticism – is the liberal or independent voter who decided they liked the man’s face and speeches and age and ‘sexiness’ and voted for him. Because they were tired of Bush, economic problems, Iraq and did not like the look of the left side of John McCain’s admittedly tired face.
Obama’s Administration is a plague, not a fraud. He and his friends are more consistent than most moderate Democrats and most Republicans. He and his friends are taking down the US in stages. I hope that Americans (just like Israelis) really understand very soon what true patriotism is, before it is too late.
Certainly, Obama and his socialists are frauds but unlike the con man on the street, Obama knows he only has to fool some of the people all of the time. California, New York and Illinois have a ton of electoral votes and they are firmly in Obama’s pocket. Add in the traditionally socialist states of New England and a smattering of others (Washington/Oregon/Maryland/maybe Florida) and Obama’s in for another 4 years.
This is one of the most insightful comments on this thread. Certainly it was obvious to anyone that wanted to see what Obama and his supporters/cohorts were and plenty of people wrote about it.
However, I feel (and I don’t see this written very often) that he stole the election anyway. Which is some comfort to me to know that not as many people voted for him as is purported. Voter fraud of all kinds in nearly every state where they could pull it off gave him enough votes to win.
Republicans better learn how to fight. That means finding all the problems of the administration and hammering them to the public relentlessly. Except for Trump and Palin, can you honestly see Romney, Huckabee or Gingrich doing that? They’re too “nice” as was McCain.
Watch who the democrats are demonizing the most, and you’ll know who should run against Obama. But don’t expect the Repubican leadership or the voters to figure that one out. They’ll select some bland, easy-going guy who will say over and over what a “nice” fellow Obama is, “but we just don’t agree on policy,” which is about as powerful as saying nothing.
Victor, great analysis and very insightful, but is anyone reading this who can do anything about it? I am truly amazed that I as a full time home maker and part time real estate assistant can find time to read a dozen different websites and keep informed, but people whose full time job is to do nothing but inform themselves of these issues (TV hosts and politicians) open their mouths and are so woefully ignorant. Very discouraging.
Thanks, Donna, for the nice words.
We need someone to call him on what he really is, hard with no apologies, willing to fall on his sword for the cause. Otherwise we are pretty much doomed, but we may be anyway, since all that might do is bring on the ‘Obama’ riots of 2012.
IF BARRACK THE BARRAKUDA WINS IN ’12, AMERICA IS TOAST.
HE AND HIS FRIENDS, RELA-THIEVES AND THEIR MINIONS WILL BE EATING FOOD ONLY BILLIONAIRES {SOROS AND OTHER SCOUNDRELS} COULD AFFORD.
ORDINARY AMERICANS WILL EAT PORRIDGE AND BITS AND PIECES OF MEAT 3X A DAY FOR THE REST OF THEIR MISERABLE LIVES.
THANK YOU LORD BARRACK {THE BARRAKUDA} FOR GIVING US FOOD TO SUSTAIN OUR THIN BODIES. LOL !!!
MAY YOU REIGN OVER US ‘TIL DOOMSDAY. LOL !!! {AGAIN}.
My buddy and I were having this very discussion earlier today. I averred that Obama is simply going to tell whatever lie he feels like telling. It has become his only weapon. There is no empathy, no warmth, no reasoning. It is pure malice. He will rely on the Mouthpiece Media to whitewash it all. He will rely on all those people who only get their news from one source, who never hear any perspective.
He is going to lie brazenly. He’ll take one position today and another tomorrow. His words will not match his deeds. The Left knows that it is unnecessary. People will hear the great soundbite and never do any fact-checking. “Oh, that sounded good. I think I’ll vote for him.”
His voter group are the pigs at the trough, the committed revolutionaries, and the truly ignorant… of which there are many of each group. They are betting there are enough for him and them to get re-elected. Fortunately, it will not work.
For those who doubt me, go to http://www.270towin.com Turn all the States Red that Obama cannot possibly win, ones that a generic Republican will win. The total is greater than 270. Just as Obama could not lose in the last election against a generic Republican, he cannot win this time. There are historical forces, a tide, at work.
Thank you Marc Malone. That interactive electoral college map is an eye openner. I had suspected that the now likely “red” states would give the conservatives a much better chance at taking the Presidency than the majority of media lets on. Maybe we should all take a look at the map and put in only those states you feel pretty strongly can be red in 2012. It doesn’t take too many to overwhelme the Democrats. If that is accurate and I do think it is. This administration has after all alienated a large part of the country with it’s horrible management of our economy. Then the question is what is stopping us from taking Obama and Company head on right now? Why the waffling with the Congress at the debt situation? As we discovered in Wisconsin, the public will rally behind a strong leader and follow through as they did in the Supreme Court election, IF the Republican leaders stay resolute in their decisions. John Boenner, are you listening. Look at Marc’s URL it is encouraging and if it is true, maybe we should be chosing some Republican candidate who can paint our beliefs in BRIGHT COLORS , NO PASTELS. Sarah Palin is looking better and better. We have a long way to go to undue the damage the communists/Progressives have done to all aspects of our country in the last forty years.
Marc and nickel,
Just how red will those ‘red’ states be if we have a new Ross Perot? Will Trump play the Perot role in 2012?
I voted Constitution Party in 2008 because my vote mattered to me, though it meant nothing in the final outcome. I didn’t cost McCain anything, since there was no way he would win NJ in 2008. A lot of people who wouldn’t think of voting third party can be talked into voting for someone like Trump. He’ll take enough of the anti-Obama vote to guarantee Obama’s reelection. Obama’s defeat is not guaranteed and it remains doubtful that the GOP “gets” what the Tea Party has been saying. If they nominate Huckabee or Romney, it’s all over.
Wait and see what New Hampshire does. Those ‘independents’ will all be voting in the GOP primary because there will be no contest on the Democratic side. Former Bay Staters have every intention of voting for Obama in November but they’ll be allowed to vote in the Republican primary and screw it up. The media (and the party) will anoint the nominee, based on evangelicals in Iowa and and faux independents in NH. It’s over.
You left off e) The president is a liar, a crook, a fraud, and an impostor.
“Who cares if his Libyan misadventure contradicts almost everything he said from 2002-10, since he was already on to Rio and praising Brazil for drilling off-shore in a manner we never would. Life is short, but the job cool.”
This is what drives me nuts about Obama, the sheer hypocrisy the man displays on an almost hourly basis. Remember when he called the war in Iraq a “War of Choice” and that it was taking our focus off of the real war, which was in Afghanistan? Remember that little gem? Where did that go? Now we have yet another “War of Choice,” only this time it’s in Libya and it involves taking sides in a civil war we should have nothing to do with.
And what about not even consulting with Congress in any meaningful way about attacking this country before the bombs started to drop? At least Bush got a Congressional resolution that allowed him to attack Iraq. Obama? Well it seems that Congress wasn’t too important when he wanted to do a “little” thing like go to war. And you could even make a good case that Iraq was far, far, more dangerous regarding human rights violations than Gaddafi is in Libya. Remember all of those mass graves we found in Iraq? Well, who do you think was responsible for those? Yet you never hear Obama condemning Saddam Hussein as much as Gaddafi.
We really, really, need to vote this bum out of office in 2012. I don’t think this country can stand any more hypocrisy like this without passing out.
It really is quite simple. We have a Congress and an Executive branch that are pretending to be trying to solve our current problems of the looming debt insolvency.
It is poppycock, pure and simple. They are not only incapable of solving the problem, the majority of them, or nearly all of them if the truth be known, do not want to change one d@mn thing. The sooner we empty out the entire infested nest of the political class the more likely we are to be able to right the ship before it founders. The Tea Party should get a list and then eliminate each and everyone who isn’t pulling on the oars of freedom. Primary every politican before the next election and take both the Senate and the Presidency, while we grow our numbers in the House. It is our only hope and it should be our only focus.
VDH, your voice has identified O’bama as the saboteur almost from the beginning. In public discourse where you write and live, good manners and no name calling have been the standards for decency and respectful writing and reporting.
My fellow posters above have been aware of the misleading statements of the President from, and before, the beginning of his term.
Millions of families have suffered greatly because of the intentional takedown of this great country by the Libs and this puppet in the White House. We are now witnessing the last struggle to breathe by an overworked economy. In flyover country, I am seeing another large group of families and businesses that are about to go under or who are frantically trying to get ahead of this latest economic downturn. My insurance man, who has been successful for a major national insurance chain (He is on my side!), for over thirty years has cut his staff by half, reduced office space by a half and is short selling his home to stay alive for another year or two. He told me that people are cutting/eliminating their insurance to try to stay above water.
I fear we are in the beginning of our death throes and don’t realize it.
You have to love conservatives and true Republicans. They have been sent a miracle. A woman, who can threaten the strong and needed base of the Democrats, women, and do it with great charm and strength. And yet, we whine. Sarah Palin has been so attacked by the media that she can never win. She is “too polarizing”. The truth about her able administration of her repsponsibilities in Alaska as Governor, Mayor and as a populist member of the Oil Commission are never mentioned. The only thing we all repeat like bleeting sheep is the talking points that the Left feeds us through their controlled media outlets. She is “dumb”, she has no experience, she can’t overcome her negatives. Well, I say bull pucky. She has guts and the will and ability to fight. If Ronald Reagan came back from the dead he wouldn’t be as well fitted to dismantle the Democratic coalition as a woman with real cred as a true mother and wife and the proven track record as a reformer. And what do we do? We whine and waffel. Get a grip and realize this is an imperfect world. No one is going to send you a new Reagan. Take what God has given us and stand with her against these communist usurpers or surrender and stop bleating about being free men.
Amen.
Nickel, the stars are aligning. Trump is too boisterous and arrogant. Romney, Huckaby, Gingrich…too mild, too safe, too late!
Sarah and Bachmann are beginning to stand apart. Everything is working out just like it is supposed to.
Her speech in Wisconsin last weekend will be looked back upon as historic. A turning point.
Mr Obama/Soetero or whatever his current incarnation is most simply a liar, a fraud, and totally incompetent–one wonders what the voter’s rationale was to elect this jug eared idiot was in the first place–although I do think that that Aristotle identified it in his critique of democracy some 2500 years ago.
We learn nothing from history–perhaps it is our fate
The next time Obama uses the occassion of a speech to insult someone sitting in front of him, the offended party should immediately rise and walk out.
Obama is so thin skinned that he will probably stop his speech to demand to know why the target is leaving.
Obama: “What are you doing – leaving?”
Target: “I was told that the President of the United States would be speaking. I was misinformed. If he makes an appearance, I’ll return.”
The press will go absolutely ape. But is the Republicans stand their ground, the American public will respect their position. During interviews, the Republicans talsk about the President not being Presidential. The personal attacks. The finger face scratching. Obsessive secrecy on all matters. Special interest groups betting special advantages. Obama’s ever expanding bus with more room for his future former friends.
I agree with you; walking out is a natural and principled reaction to take when Obama, speaking as the President, instead, moves into personal and partisan and deliberate malicious insults (including his oblique reference to Sarah Palin’s Down’s Syndrome child).
But to have done so, would have played right into Obama’s agenda! Remember, Obama always reminds everyone that ‘I am the President’. He used that, for example, as an excuse when, during the Health Care debates, he met with the GOP. The GOP were allowed ONE question each to Obama, and NO follow-up questions. So when Obama spouted his long, fact-bereft and factually incorrect answers – the GOP were not allowed to point this out to him. As he told them when they objected: ‘I’m the president’.
So, Obama would have claimed that the GOP ‘insulted’ the role of president…and the slavish press would have labelled the GOP as insulting, evil…blah blah.
So, Ryan and the others had to say while Obama insulted them, to prevent him achieving this goal.
Not sure about this. Runs the risk of looking like Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, those sterling arbiters of acceptable behavior…..not.
The ‘confusion and misdirection’ of administration behavior is wildly apparent in Libya. After astonishing vacillation, witness the pusillanimous op-ed approach with Britain and France, that says something along these lines : “We take the gravest possible exception to this abominable treatment of his own people. Therefore, Col. Q. must turn in all his bank cards, immediately.” In other words, he must go but not saying how. To be contrasted with the deep-hole approach of W : “This time we’re coming after you. There is no hole deep enough to hide you.”
Well what did people really expect from Barack “the magic one”? He was rated the #1 liberal in the Senate before being elected President. He is doing was liberals do: centralize power and promise benefits that someone else will pay for. Only we have come at the end of the road; we are simply out of money. We either tame the beast or it will tame us. Eventually the markets will signal the very end with the bond vigilates, demanding ever higher interest rates.
So what oh what will Barry do? Expect him to double down. Keep up the spending, tax the rich, and rail over the evil (fill in the blank). He will pretend to want deficit reduction, but watch his actions, his words are meaningless. Remember, he once said: “Just Words”.
“The key question for millions of voters in 2012 will be simply who ensures that my check arrives unchanged or augmented, and who either stops or reduces it.”
If hadn’t reached the point of the all-seeing, all-knowing, all-caring Nanny State, then it probably wouldn’t matter if the Federal Government collapses, because no one would probably care that much. We simply have put ALL our faith, trust, and yes, “Hope” into the Government and incompetent Socialist boobs like Obama.
Obama and crew are about to taste the fruits of their actions. Too clever by half, as the Brits say. Printing money has rebooted the stock market, but the debt monster, public and private, is so big that its takes more and more funny money to get traction and keep the illusion going. The dollar is being scorned overseas, bye bye reserve currency status. And inflation is really getting in our faces now, not later. The economy is likely to crash big time before primary season. Who can beat Obama? Obama has already beat himself.
Excellent analysis, VDH.
As I’ve said before, my view is that Obama is a clinical narcissist, a pathological mode he probably moved into as a young boy. This means that he does not live in or connect to the real world of factual reality. Instead, he manufactures a ‘virtual world’ of his words; he manipulates people by words…to dominate and control them.
That is why Obama is disinterested in policies and programs because they deal with facts and the hard data of the real world. He leaves all policies and program devt to others. This pattern of behavior, the inability to deal with ‘facts’ is long established with him. His autobiographies? The book contract was to write a scholarly researched study of race; Obama couldn’t do it..and instead, wrote a fictional account of himself: Dreams of my Father. Even the title shows the virtual mindset of Obama.
His other ‘work’? All of it was unconnected to any requirement for examining facts and reality. Editor of the Harvard Law Review where he did no editing but left it to others – he just showed up from time to time to grin and wave. University lecturer where he just followed the course outline. Community organizer where he just exhorted others to ‘go out and activate’. Senator where he just voted present..and gave speeches that he contradicted later on.
That’s the pattern: no involvement with reality. Just words to exhort others and cling on him as ‘special’.
Therefore since Obama has no ability to connect his words to reality, he is a pathological liar. Again, for Obama, words don’t connect to the objective world but are meant to connect You to Him. Obama’s words are meant to manipulate you to be in his control. So, he’ll tell one audience one day that he’s saved jobs, created jobs and his policies are great..despite the facts being the opposite; and he’ll tell us that the tax ‘cuts’ are required and in a month, that the ‘rich’ must pay. [Kindly note that for Obama, a 'millionaire' is anyone who makes over 200,000 a year.]
And along with this pathological lying, this inability to connect to reality, are Obama’s tactics to divert criticism of him. If you confront Obama with the facts – about anything, be it jobs or his stimulus or his health care costs and waivers etc…the pattern of deflection that Obama uses is always the same: He shifts the blame to you.
So- the S&B downgrades the US – and Obama releases a statement that their action was partisan; it was politically motivated.
Critique him – and Obama suggests that you are ignorant – and would like his health care if you understood it. Critique him – and he’ll suggest that you are partisan, politically motivated, bigoted…or racist. The latter, racism, is a key tactic that Obama has used all his life to head off accountability.
He’ll tell the world that the US will always come to the aid of people in need, and then, walk away from Libya, ignore the Sudan, Darfur and etc…He’ll tell US citizens that we must all be civil to one another, and then, deliberately and maliciously insult the GOP while they sit in front of him. This is both political, ideological and also, a symptom of his deeper pathology – which is that for Obama, words are not referenced to facts and truth; words are meant to manipulate you to be in his control.
Ideological? Obama is embedded, probably unconsciously, with the deep anti-American, anti-capitalist, anti-white and socialist ideologies of his mother, grandmother, wife..and father.
Obama is ignorant of economics and history. Living in a virtual reality as he does, he assumes that the world is Magical. So, his view is that consumption means a robust economy; he ignores production. Totally ignores a nations’ capacity to produce wealth. Therefore, Obama’s idea is to take money from The Rich..whom he sees as some kind of Virtual Magical Pot of Gold that keeps refilling as he keeps taking out of it…and Obama will redistribute this gold to ‘everyone’…the over 50% who pay no taxes. And then, they’ll all adore him and admire him and be His to Control.
Obama ignores that the world is NOT a magical realm; the wealthy achieve wealth only by work – and this work relies on investing in production. Investing in factories, small and medium businesses, new technology..to produce goods and services.
These goods and services are then sold, and must produce a SURPLUS. The surplus must then..be invested into more production. If you tax away all this surplus you deprive the economy of its capacity to produce wealth. Govts don’t produce wealth; they are consumers. Obama, who is utterly ignorant of economics, doesn’t understand this. And doesn’t care, for his agenda is to make you His…and if he can do this by buying your adulation, so be it.
He’s been a useful agent for the radical socialists (eg Soros) who run him. But I wonder if the mainstream Democrats really want the America that Obama and Soros, Pelosi and Reid are setting up. Do they not realize that productivity is not a Magical Pot that keeps refilling? Do they not understand that investment in productivity is the only way to generate a wealthy economy – and that a govt cannot and does not produce; it only consumes?
And aren’t the Democrats disturbed by the rhetorical and indifferent world that Obama lives in? Are they, like him, moving themselves out of touch with reality…and expecting others to pick up for them?
“But I wonder if the mainstream Democrats really want the America that Obama and Soros, Pelosi and Reid are setting up. Do they not realize that productivity is not a Magical Pot that keeps refilling?”
It only takes about 2 years in Congress to amass a fortune that is secure from any kind of conventional attack…only a losing war would destroy the fortunes of the thousands of congressional criminals living in luxury off the bribes they built their careers upon.
You don’t see as much over-the-top ideological lunacy at the state level in the legistatures. In general, there isn’t enough money to make it worthwhile. It might take 10 years, for example, to become a secure capo, There are plenty of criminals at the state and local level, of course, but except for municipalities that have coverted themselves into gangster governments, state and local officials aren’t as obviously insane as the blabbering loons at the federal level. And in a city like Detroit, they don’t even bother with pretending to be “guardians of the people”. The theft is much more direct and efficient.
I agree; the ease of attaining extreme wealth by contacts, backroom deals and networking in Washington, coupled with the massive waste, benefits, and extra income available – means that a good portion of the elected are corrupt. But we still have principled congressmen of integrity. I’m not going to define them all within the corruption-brush.
However, I’ll maintain that the electorate still retains the power to kick them out, and that leaves me with my question. Are there mainstream Democrats, the regular idealists so to speak, not the radical power-hungry and vicious types like Pelosi, Reid, Schumer etc…who question the agendas of the Obama Gang? And who are worried about the inanity of a dead-end agenda of ‘spend and spend’ and ‘tax and tax’?
Are there not some who wonder what is wrong with Obama – with his emotionally hyped yet short-on specifics vague speeches, his obviously untrue ‘facts’ , his slurs and insults, his constant contradictions by day and by month, his pandering to whatever audience he is speaking to at the moment..and his sloughing off all responsibilities to yet another new commission…whose recommendations he will then ignore. Are they aware that people are now criticizing Obama in ways unimaginable even 5 months ago…and that Obama is reacting with malice rather than hard work at dealing with the disastrous economy? Are they worried about their own electability?
You don’t see many people exposing the Mafia either.
None of Obama’s close relatives are still alive. This is very unusual for a man only 49 years old, whose mother and grandmother both gave birth as teenagers. His mother passed away at 53, shortly before Obama entered politics in Chicago. His grandmother, who never was allowed to speak to the press, passed away shortly before the election in 2008. His grandfather passed away before either of them. His stepfather is dead. His nominal father is dead. There are no other people who could possibly know the details of his early life. His half-sister through his mother only lived with Obama when she was a baby. If I were her, I would publicly proclaim that I know nothing, nothing.
There are also several unexplained deaths of gay men in Reverend Wrights “church” prior to the election. Such things are common in Chicago, no doubt.
Also note that the noted anti-war candidate who so strongly opposed Bush’s wars hasn’t had any qualms strongly escalating the level of drone attacks, a means of making war that even bushhitler wasn’t that keen about.
And then there is Libya, a country unable to defend itself against air assault.
I also can’t think of anybody who has challenged him in his own party who didn’t shut up almost immediately. Rev Wright has probably been the most outspoken, and the strongest thing he has said publicly about little lenin is that he is like all politicians.
The guy with the power of the US government isn’t a Quaker, by a long shot.
Those that are in the tank for Obama have selective memory. Given his psychological make-up that I think you pretty much accurately describe, the only thing that will make him lose it for all to see is a strong personality that attacks him on the points you mention and more. Expose the real Obama for all to see. I could be wrong, and there aren’t many or any out willing to take one for the team. Trump is not the guy
I agree – Obama’s weakness – and I mean personality weakness – is the fact that he lives in a virtual world that he must, absolutely must, control.
I don’t refer here to his intellectual weakness; he has hidden his profound ignorance of history, economics, politics, societal organization behind his switch to ‘getting ahead’ not via knowledge but via his tactics of emotionally manipulating people.
So his weakness emerges when these tactics don’t work. So, his constant stream of contradictory statements, misinformation, outright lies..are meant to confuse and manipulate you. Then, he emotionally manipulates people using concepts of hope and fear. If you don’t pass his stimulus NOW, then, the apocalyptic results will….etc.
But – if you criticize him, then Obama moves into his defensive tactic. This is to deflect the critique from him..to you. Obama will blame you for your criticism. If you critique him – then, it’s because you are ignorant, bigoted, politically partisan, mean-spirited, malicious. And Obama’s key defensive move which he always falls back on is: racism. He or his minions will accuse you of racism if you don’t like his policies.
Obama has used ALL these descriptions at various times in the past few months – calling people who reject his health care ignorant and mean or partisan. He’s called the Tea Party ‘teabaggers’; he’s said nothing when his administration denigrated and demeaned them. He’s called the GOP and Ryan basically malicious, un-American, mean-spirited..etc, etc. And this from someone who gives speeches all the time, exhorting that ‘we must all get along’. Heh; that’s another tactic to stop criticism of…Him.
That is, he refuses to accept that you are EQUAL to him, that you are INTELLIGENT, and can have a valid criticism of him. And Obama will pull rank; he keeps reminding everyone: ‘I’m the President’. So what? Obama can’t accept that he is equal to others; his psychological need to control everyone around him is so great that he can’t have a one-to-one equal debate or discussion. That’s why, during the health care debates, he refused to allow the GOP to ask him follow-up questions..so they could not show how wrong he was.
What Trump is doing now, however, is productive because he is talking about Obama in a way that political candidates can’t. No GOP candidate will bring up the ‘birther’ issue – and it’s only an issue because Obama made it one. No GOP candidate will bring up wondering why all his school records are sealed. So Trump, as an outsider, immune to Obama’s tactics – can bring these issues into the public eye.
And notice – that people aren’t rushing to defend Obama. They are merely listening to Trump. I do NOT want Trump to run, either as a GOP or independent, but he plays a useful role now – because Obama’s defensive tactics – especially the racism one – are major tactics he uses and will use more and more as his popularity falls.
I agree with you. Trump will only carry it so far though, unless he really gets under O’s skin. But I also am not convinced of Trump’s motives. He’s also a manipulator. continuous pressure applied relentlessly is the only way to crack this one.
Yes – I agree; it has to be continuous relentless pressure on Obama, pointing out his inconsistent assertions, his fraudulent data, his empty and irrelevant promises.
But as you point out, there is the very real possibility of ‘Obama riots of 2012′. Obama is divisive; it’s a key strategy of his, to divide people, turn them into adversaries of each other. This not only deflects criticism of him, which he is unable to handle, but it weakens them..to enable him to increase his Control over them.
Obama has increased the divisions in this country to unimagined heights; divisions of class – and he’s always, always blaming ‘the rich’ – an amorphous group that he doesn’t define; and he sets up ethnic groups against each other, exhorting hispanics to go out and ‘fight the enemy’ (GOP white man); setting up professionals against consumers (evil doctors who cut off limbs for money); sets up Americans against hispanics (they’ll come after you for eating on ice cream); sets up the GOP as ‘they’d better sit in the back of the bus’. His divisiveness is astonishing. He does it to control. And most certainly, he would incite Obama-riots if he feels his re-election is threatened.
But the only way to deal with him – is to expose, expose, expose. Keep the criticims public, loud..and data-based. Ask the questions publicly. Obama’s reaction will be, as was shown in the Ryan budget proposal – malicious and vindictive and filled with emotional accusations..all false, all quite frankly amoral and unethical. That’s his real nature; he has no integrity, not ethics, not principles. He’s driven only by his need to control. Put someone that pathological in a position of power – and he needs to control EVERYONE.
By the way – what puzzles me is why we assume that the govt must increase its revenues. I tend to think the govt must DECREASE its revenues and DECREASE its programs and get out of our lives. Remember, a govt produces nothing: no jobs, no work infrastructure. Nothing. It just consumes the wealth of the private citizen..hires millions of expensive bureaucrats and..that’s all.
Eventually, the person will reveal himself to whom Trump first said “well, if nobody else will do it, then I will”. I think it’s Rush.
So far, Trump hasn’t spent a dime. If it gets to the point when he begins digging into his fortune, and he still keeps at it, THEN you will know he is really running. In the meantime, he’s getting far more in publicity than he is spending. And that doesn’t count the priceliess appreciation he is acquiring from Americans who are relieved that finally somebody the MBM can’t ignore is speaking up about the malignant con man.
He may be an arrogant twit, but he’s a patriot. It won’t surpise me if we aren’t all looking back in 2013 with Pawlenty, Christie or Palin in the White House and thanking the stars that Donald decided to point out that the emperor has no clothes.
I get tired of hearing how little taxes Warren Buffett pays. This is a man, who like Bill Gates, has contributed tens of billions to charity. That ought to earn him at least a few deductions and perhaps even some good will.
??
The primary complainer is Warren Buffet himself.
Buffet is talking about genuine multimillionaires and billionaires like himself. He’s not committing the Obama-Semantic-Slither, where Obama defines any individual making over 200,000 as a ‘millionaire’ who must pay more taxes.
Since when is 200,000 equivalent to 1,000,000? Did Obama somehow fail grade school?
the only saving grace is that among the 48% who pay no federal income tax is a substantial number of hard working folks who want to move up the ladder and realize they will soon be paying more and more income tax. Plus they pay plenty of state and local taxes along with their SS and Medicare taxes. They are not “on the dole” as it were and do not like the size of government …
john b …
I get tired of hearing Obama quote Buffet about how he can pay more in taxes. I’ll agree to stop talking about how little Buffet pays if he’ll shut up about other peoples tax rates needing to go up … Deal ?
Jeff,
You’re right. If Buffet wants to pay more in taxes, nothing is stopping him from writing a check to the IRS. He and Bill Gates’ dad can write their own checks and stop deciding what the rest of us owe.
I hate to say it, but did you notice how many of his quoted homies are in books taught at community colleges? I don’t know how you storm the bastions of academe, but, ” Becoming a Master Student” which is a required course for marginal students at community college, has essays by “community activists” who get into Harvard for the prestige, as the jet from international protest, to international protest. It’s a handbook. There isn’t a right-wing equivalent. There’s the privilege dance- “public school sucks! Therefore I homeschool! And go to small, private liberal arts colleges!” But not handbooks on freedom. Just saying.

Are income taxes the only kind of tax all you learned posters have ever heard of? Why are you all so interested in protecting ceo’s multiple million dollar salaries? Do they really provide that kind of value to their companies? Who is going to buy products when 80% of US capital is in 40 untra-rich men’s savings accounts?
You are falling for the ‘stuffed sock’ image of wealth, where you assume that rich people stuff all their (ill-gotten) wealth in a sock..and there it sits. Wrong.
Wealth is to be understood as surplus, that which has been produced that is above what is consumed. Growth-economies must produce wealth..so that they can grow. This wealth or surplus is not stuffed in socks. It’s invested. It may indeed be held within a bank – which then uses those funds to provide loans to enable other businesses to emerge, to purchase new equipment, hire more people, innovate, etc.
Or, that wealth may be directly used to fund those new agendas. Or to fund charities, libraries, hospitals. I’m sure you are aware of how much these private citizens contribute to fund schools, hospitals etc. And – this direct funding is far more efficient than handing it over to a govt. Why? Because the govt will use 75% of those funds to: hire bureaucrats to ‘administer’ the money. Or, it won’t fund that hospital, school..but will instead distribute in small amounts to the 50% of Americans who pay NO taxes. Ever think of that?
50% of people pay no taxes? That has to win for preposterous comment of the day. Our “philantropic capitalists” drove the US economy off the cliff. Its hard to argue otherwise. Collecting interest on huge sums of money does nothing to benefit a growth economy. If it were so, being that taxes are at the lowest they have been, we should be swimming in jobs, yet profits are up, jobs are down and wages for workers are decreasing. Again, I ask, are income the only taxes you have ever heard of.
please acquaint yourself with free market principles
Ed, facts are important. I suggest that you google ’50% pay no income tax’ and see the results. The US tax policy center official report is that nearly 50% of filers pay no income tax. .
The reason is that the many deductions reduce the federal tax to zero. We won’t count the many who don’t file; we won’t count the black market economy. Try searching for the facts before you comment.
Now, you claim that ‘philanthropic capitalists’ drove the US economy off the cliff’ and you claim that ‘it’s hard to argue otherwise’. But you haven’t provided any argument. You’ve just stated your opinion. No facts, no analysis. Why should anyone accept such an empty opinion?
What are you talking about – ‘collecting interest on money’..? Who is collecting the interest? The person who puts their money in the bank? Don’t you understand that the bank’s job is not to act as a Brick Sock, but to gather that surplus money and then, loan it out to people to INVEST in new business ventures? That’s how an economy grows!
Oh- and are you aware that the federal govt and its enormous appetite for this money, has grown – to fund its own massive ever-increasing bureaucracy, its handouts, its funding of special interest groups and its govt-funded ‘shovel-ready’ (heh, heh) projects? So- the money isn’t there for GROWTH INVESTMENT by private citizens. Don’t you understand that a govt doesn’t PRODUCE growth or jobs or work; its consumes money!
Heck – try a basic course in economics. Whew.
I admire your patience, but you waste your time.
Are you hinting at buisness taxes?
Not wanting to put words in your mouth but if you are then that fails on its own merits. Corporations don’t pay taxes, they just raise the price of their product to compensate and the end users pay the tax. That would be you and me.
That is if it doesn’t raise the cost of domestic product out of competition with foreign product thus killing the domestic corporation and eliminating domestic jobs or causing it to move outside of America and killing jobs. That is the most appearant loose/looe proposition in the deficit debate.
fyi
it’s not the ceo’s that obama wants to fleece (besides, most ceo’s are libs anyways)
obama’s target are those filthy scum that have the audacity to try to forge a life independent of government’s tentacles
ever notice that obamas millionaires and billionaires begin at 250k?
once you realize that all statist endeavors strive to destroy the middle class the better prepared you will be
Any original or personal beliefs or are you just reading from the prepared talking points. Oh, you forgot to calll Obama obummer or some such thing. Project much?
preemptive “projection” psychobabble
go back to trolling school
Ed – do you have any original beliefs? And your personal beliefs, so far stated, are bereft of facts and logic. So, what’s your point?
Where’s your proof? See how it works? I would to see VDH debate Paul Krugman or even Jon Stewart.
Paul Krugman is a sniveling little moron, with short man syndrome…I’d love to see that cry baby argue with VDH or anyone here for that matter…he’d default to his creds, that to me are worthless. How we certify our intelligentsia is a joke.
Single name. Common first name. No information. No data. No links. No insights. No humor. No wit. Just talking points and attacks on other commentors.
Yep. It’s the dna of a troll.
President Obama is pursuing a winning strategy, which is to bribe supporters with handouts which can be disguised as taking from the few (and polite) and giving to the many (and rudely obnoxious), coupled with blaming any ensuing problems on the opposition, characterizing them as heartless devils, and never, never, ever acknowledging reality.
President Obama knows and understands the saying, “The great mass of people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one.” And he understands that once you entice people to believe in the Big Lie, you own their souls. This is a winning political strategy. Even if President Obama does not win re-election in 2012, his political goals will be advanced and his prestige, among those who matter, will be ensured.
“Conservatives” will never effectively combat this winning strategy because “conservatives” are stuck with the suboptimal strategy of saying, “You’ve been the victims of a big lie, but we promise, we’re not going to lie to you anymore.” The only way “conservatives” are going to win this game is to stop playing within the system which allowed the creation of the Big Lie in the first place; to start over and tell the truth from day one.
Sadly, the “Tea Parties” had a brief opportunity to do this. However, by running mostly as Republicans, the tea party candidates have effectively bought into the same system. You cannot say, “We’re going to join the team that’s been lying to you, but we promise, we’re not going to lie to you.” It won’t wash.
“Conservatives” and libertarians are sorely mistaken when they fanatically believe that the great mass of people, having lived the Big Lie fantasy for generations, are suddenly going to wake up and decide that they want to live in the real world. This will never happen. The human animal will die living a happy fantasy rather than live in the cold light of reality. Only by shredding the fantasy beyond all possible repair can minds be encouraged to accept the truth. Many who have been brainwashed by the Big Lie will never be capable of making the transition to reality.

I have looked a the patient, the prognosis is not a fun one to deliver.
Typhoid Barry is contagious and has infected nearly half the population and all of the economy.
He’s a carrier. Acquired immune to reason syndrome. AIRS. It afflicts leftist Democrats and their leper colony constituency of bagmen, freeloaders, brain-addled pop culture substance abusers and legionnaires who have a disease all their own, Pension Gout, which is caused by gorging on forced dues of others.
The genesis of these diseases stem from the flea-ridden lapdog media, which covers up the symptoms with a bunch of phony lab results, faked and forged reports, and a host of other items of journalistic malpractice.
We can’t get treatment or even know where to quarantine disease, because the lapdog media lies about its existence, its cause, its effect and drives the disease further into the populace.
Obama couldn’t be bothered. He has his “service” hold all his calls and phones in his diagnosis from the golf course of his latest tropical retreat.
The economy is on a respirator. Our DOJ has a sepsis of conscience. Rampant, unchecked leftism has metastasized.
And America has Stage Four cancer of the soul.
Typhoid Barry – lol – can I borrow that?
LOL…for YOU bear,…you can have anything I write as yours.
Like most everything you write, comical in the saddest way, and 95% accurate. It’s a pity that such a pessimistic diagnosis is so true.
BTW, falling for the meme of Obama’s supossed foreign birth or his supposed anti-American beliefs takes away from the reality that R’s have had ample opportunity to balance the buidget and reduce the deficit. Results? Honestly, where were you when Bush was funding his wars off budget? In the interest of intellectual honesty, please list some of repulican’s contributions to this cause.
Equating Bush with Obama is moral equivalence. Your in essence saying two wrongs make a right. Parroting the leftist talking points is not useful in a debate requiring facts.
What the heck does “parroting leftist talking points even mean”? I’m not saying anything with moral equivalence. I believe the government has a function and the advnaces of the New Deal and Great Society were and are monumental. I believe financing the wars off the books is a real wrong, but spending to stimulate a depressed economy has a proven, successful track record. The truth, as you would enjoy talking about, is that deficit spending and budget busting is only a topic among R’s when a democrat is in office. I am still waiting for your evidence of R’s fiscal wonder deeds. Anyone?
The problem, Ed, with your comment was that you did indeed suggest a moral equivalence. This thread has been talking about Obama’s economic failures; namely his massive increase of the deficit and his ‘solution’ by merely raising taxes. You then gave your opinion that the GOP had not dealt with the deficit etc. You did not address the issue of Obama’s policies but instead, tried to say: Hey- the GOP did bad things too. So?
Does the fact that Bush increased the deficit mean that Obama gets away with no criticism for his doing so – and increasing it in an exponential manner far beyond that of Bush? This thread is not about the justification for the two wars – both of which I would consider justified, by the way – while I would consider Obama’s stimulus and health care both unjustified and a massive threat to the economic well-being of this nation.
The stimulus was not about developing industrial infrastructures as Obama said, but the money was primarily used to keep public service employees in the states funded. That’s a misuse of the tax money.Spending by a govt to stimulate economic recovery is not a basic axiom of truth. Obama’s spending to prop up public service jobs has not had that result. Economic growth comes from one source alone: production of goods and services by private enterprise. That means leaving money in the hands of the private individual business.
Government run health care has been shown, around the world, to be inefficient, costly and less successful, both in health care and costs, than private care.
Your views of FDR etc – are your personal opinions. Others reject those conclusions. The Reagan GOP years were indeed years of economic growth – and you ignore the economic policies of this period. One other comment: economic growth should NOT lead to increased government revenues; the govt should not seek to expand its role but to reduce its role.
Now, can you debate these facts?
“Does the fact that Bush increased the deficit mean that Obama gets away with no criticism for his doing so – and increasing it in an exponential manner far beyond that of Bush?” Of course not, but it should moderate the rhetoric which tries to make Obama look UNIQUELY evil or incompetent.
Obama’s stimulus which essentially kept let’s say 200,000 workers (of his base) employed, as opposed to unemployed, has not started any great recovery, but has stopped the free-fall. That is about all we know at this point.
Maybe you can convince me that if the money had “stayed with business” that we would have generated enough jobs to make up for all the 200,000 lost, PLUS some others. We do know that if those 200,000 had gone on unemployment, they would have paid no taxes and purchased fewer goods. But by your theory or faith, the boom would have come from….er, where? We would have hit a lower bottom, that’s for sure, and maybe a lot of low-paying jobs would have eventually been generated, jobs which I hear all the time here do NOT create any taxable revenue.
Is it all about find a real bottom? Is it also about people NOT really wanting to find out where that bottom is? I think so. People have gotten wimpy that way.
Days later…still waiting to hear about the R’s wonderful deficit reduction and balanced budget deeds. Anyone, anyone? Prediction: You will vote for them and stop complaining about the deficit if they win.
Inside Mr. Hanson’s analysis is the suggestion that we may be at a tipping point: that the electorate may soon be unable to vote in the best choice for president because it no longer has the collective good judgment to know what is best for the country.
The author also paints a grim picture of Obama as essentially a sociopath when it comes to telling the truth or making fact based arguments. And the damage he has already done suggests an even more serious pathology beneath this one. In the next two years Obama could easily do a lot more, without even being reelected. It sounds like the only hope we have is if enough Democrats join with the Republicans to stop Obama. The question now becomes: are there enough Democrats remaining that are not cast in the same mold as Obama? For their own sakes and ours let us hope that the answer to this question is yes.
Excellent as always Dr. Hanson,
In a nutshell, the heart of the problem.
I am quickly coming to the dire conclusion that elections will not solve the problem quickly enough to save ourselves. We either divest ourselves of liberals/progressives, or the rest of us go down with them.
Inga Barks, covering for Mark Levin on the radio last night, had a discussion of the typical government progression; in this case regarding school lunches and the item that Chicago just banned kids from bringing in lunch from home.
1) The government institutes a program to help poor people (in this case school-provided breakfast and lunches).
2) The government, in an effort to be “fair”, makes the program available to all people, not just the poor.
3) The government then prohibits people from utilizing other resources, in order to ensure “health” or some such. (In this case, Chicago is banning students from bringing lunches because many of them bring in less-than-healthy foods. Of course the fact that they eat what they bring from home while wasting what the school provides is irrelevant).
4) Finally, the government comes back to the tax payers and demands tax increases to support the programs, saying “if we cut them the students (not just the poor, but the whole population) will suffer.” Never minding, of course, that the vast majority of the students were doing just fine until the government program was started, for much less overall money.
(Does his entire audience suffer from amnesia?) My opinion, no. They suffer from inattention to the details, a lack of understanding about the basic underlying principles established in the Constitution, and a complete lack of interest in anything that does not effect them directly. Who’s the vice President? Who knows but Justine Bieber……we know who he’s enjoying sex with and what he eats for breakfast!
Dr. Hanson–
Re: “Symptoms of the Illness
f) Obama said that neither he nor Warren Buffett needed another tax cut…”
You would benefit from reading up on Obama’s tax return–just as you’d expect, he took every deduction available to him, while he sancimonously lectures America on the rich evading their ‘responsibility to give back’..

“Be Consciousness.

Or, as Pogo put it,
We have met the enemy and it is us.
The TAKER’S holocaust is only beginning.
Obama is doing his best to get those trains running on time that will take us to our death camps.
A small but telling point: overlooked in all this is that Obama gave George Soros $500 million to invest in that Brazilian drilling project even while he was banning drilling in the United States.
I did a search and found numerous hits. This one sums it up fairly well:
http://floppingaces.net/2009/08/19/obama-to-give-billions-in-loans-for-brazilian-offshore-oil-drilling-of-brazilian-company-patrly-owned-by-dems-biggest-contributor/
So what do we so? Shrug?
Excellent article, as I’ve come to expect, Dr. Hanson.
I worked with a woman who behaved EXACTLY as does our president. She had used her gender and dark skin color to parlay a job as an executive director for an agency that was ostensibly to aid those being gentrified out of their place of birth.
Her daily modus operandi was this: glad-hand the community by visiting all the hangout spots: coffee, Cuban sandwich shop. etc. Nothing was done that related to furthering the goals of “her” organization. She must also dress the part: African clothing, drove a cadillac, high-tech cell phone. All conversations were guarantees of largesse from “someone else,” either the city, the state, the feds, their white neighbors. All she did was talk and drive around.
When it was time to address the city council or other funding agency, she would terrorize them into acquiescence with her current wishes. She would vilify them publicly, announce their favorable decision in the media–before the decision was made–she made it so hard for the people dispensing others’ cash to say no, so complicated that they would simply sigh and say “yes” to whatever she wanted.
The only predictable things about her, though not her behavior, were that she was completely without morals or conscience, and she was a ruthless coward.
The only way to combat the president and other like him, who are also IMHO without morals, conscience, or courage is to meet them face on, get physically right in their face so that their permanent inward gaze is interrupted, and keep on demanding rational thought, behavior, and speech. It will eventually make their heads explode, their brains to smoke, and they will react violently and without thinking. Then we have them. Then we win.
Yes, that’s exactly similar to Obama. He too is a ‘people-person’, achieving his goals by being a ‘party-man’; meeting and greeting, chatting about whatever, making empty promises, setting up Others as The Enemy (with Obama, these are the wealthy, whites, and the individual independent person).
And yes, Obama will manipulate and threaten govt to get his way. Remember how he insisted that Congress pass the stimulus and the health bills – without reading them??? Without debate? He insisted that the stimulus be passed immediately..or an apocalyptic economic collapse would result. You were to do things, not via your own debate and analysis, but by accepting His Sovereign Will. That’s Obama.
And he uses race, and accusations of your ignorance and bigotry to deflect and deny debate and critique. Another interesting thing about Obama – and I wonder if your acquaintance used this as well, but if Obama feels that he cannot control you, then you literally, actually cease to exist for him. You disappear. He has no involvement with you. Obama was totally disinterested in the Iranian democracy demonstrators – first, they were demonstrating for freedom, not Obama. And second, he couldn’t control them. So – they did not exist for him.
How to deal with him? I think it has to be, as you said – constant confrontation. But direct?
Obama removes himself from direct interaction; he’s got a very thick shell around him; he’s denied open press conferences during most of his tenure and prefers either reading his teleprompter speeches and departing instantly, or having someone else handle the questions…or a one-on-one situation where he controls the questions. So- I think the way to deal with him is not direct confrontation..he’ll get malicious and pull rank…but via the public gaze.
That is – there ought to be more and more open discussions about ‘what’s wrong with Obama’…so that it becomes a public question and debate. He’s not going to change; his psychological pathology is untreatable (clinical narcissists and sociopaths are not treatable). We have to simply break open the shell that he has sealed and controls around him, break open his use of the media as part of his shell….and make him disappear that way. So, we have to work on ourselves so that Obama can’t affect us, can’t manipulate us as he does. Without that adulatory feedback – Obama will wither inside his shell.
I still can’t figure out how the Democratic party produced both Harry S. Truman and Barack Obama.
Truman was the product of a different generation and a very different Democratic party.
Also, Truman’s legacy has greatly benefited from popular academic bias. Remember that far more people disliked him as President then than do now. Both FDR and Truman have been perfumed by the general enthusiasm of winning the war. Similarly, many people are shocked when it is pointed out that roughly 50% of Americans despised FDR at the time of his death, creating enough political will to pass an amendment banning any President from again serving more than two terms.
Unless real Americans – let’s stop saying “conservative” when there is very little of modern American political culture worth conserving – are capable of taking back the power structures of academia, journalism, and popular culture, Obama’s legacy will be as, if not one of the best Presidents of all time (he already ‘polls’ in the top 10), then at least as a fair-to-decent leader. Because his friends will write the history books.
You are absolutely right, and what a sight to behold.
President Obama is hopelessly inadequate to fulfill the duties of his office. His policy in foreign affairs is ad hoc and to say the least, terrible. In domestic matters he is without question bent on creating a monster federal government which is consuming and will consume everyone’s savings, so that we will all have to stand in line for government hand outs. But those wll go to the select few. The rest of us will live in poverty.
It is a very fortunate thing for Obama that there is no Reagan waiting in the wings (yet).
Reagan would have cleaned his clock. He will need all the luck he can get in 2012.
Switzerland is a country where almost all adult men own an assault rifle. They take it home from the army, similar as in Israel. You don’t hear much of people going on a rampage in these countries.
I live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I think if you start handing out guns to people here it would be war. The general population is not able to handle the responsibility.
So too with any other form of independence that the nanny state gobbles up. Once you loose it you can’t get it back. That’s why the left is so immensely dangerous.
Don’t give up.
Excellent point Daniel. I lived overseas for several years and I fear we will all end up as say, Portugal. Lovely place to hang out but producing nothing and standing for nothing aside from living off the governmental dole. The O administration seems to be heading us for that scenario without the slightest thought given to the ramifications. Or maybe they think indolence and whining are good things…
WE CAN NOT GIVE UP.
“d) The president is Machiavellian”
Oh, Doctor, surely not. “The Prince” was written for Princes, was about Princes and their responsibilities to their people and nation (and of course, just to make certain they “got it,” that’s why he entitled it “The Prince”).
Obama is the complete obverse. A study in failure of, well, pretty much every quality required to be even a half-assed leader.
There is one diagnosis that seems to fit: It is sociopath. There is no known successful treatment to cure it.
what gets me is the conservatives still try to be fair and nice and all the while obama is b!tch slapping them.
that is why Trump is going to the head of the list, he is challenging obama ..the conservatives are scurrying around trying to be civil.
time for some one with a backbone to come out of the shadows.
Yes, on all counts. People have a filter on that they are unable or unwilling to see what a nasty piece of work your President is.
Here is a summary of Federal 2010 finances, for a sense of what is happening to us.
$ 2,200 Federal Tax Revenue (billions)
$ 1,300 Borrowing (the deficit)
—————
$ 3,500 Total Spending
$ 0 Total Saving
$14,500 Entire economy (GDP)
15.2% Taxes as % of Economy
9.0% Borrowing as % of Economy
24.2% Total spending as % of Economy
What if (say) Bob’s family budget operated like the government, in proportion? That gives a feeling for our situation:
$50,000 What Bob can spend from his income
$29,900 Bob borrows this
—————
$79,900 Bob’s spends it all
60% more than Bob’s income
$ 1,400 The GOP cut in proportion
The proposed GOP cut in spending of $61 billion is just 1.8%. For Bob, it would be $1,400.
The federal government has made big promises, far above what it will collect in taxes at current rates.
$75,100 billion ($75.1 trillion) is the amount of a fund which would pay for the unfunded part of promised entitlement programs over the next 75 years, if available today and invested at 3% interest. Of course, there is no such fund, so meeting those promises would require immediately increasing tax revenues by 76% to pay off that “mortgage”, or those promises will be broken.
Don’t take comfort from the 75 year time frame. We are already falling short, being made up by huge borrowings (the deficit). The result of the 75 year analysis is that things will steadily become worse.
Collecting 76% more in taxes might cause or deepen unemployment. Or, increasing tax rates might actually decrease tax revenues if people decided to earn less and pay less. Or, it may be impossible to convince younger people to give up their savings in exchange for the right to charge their children high taxes in turn. I think the promises will be broken.
This problem is huge. The retirees of today and in the future have paid into Social Security thinking that their “insurance premium” will fund part of their retirement. Actually, all of the cash (real resources) has been spent. What remains is only the promise to now tax the non-retired to pay for the retired, at much higher rates. That is not what people thought Social Security would deliver to them.
Promises for Medicare and Medicaid are worse; they are bigger and just as unfunded. What is more kind: to face reality now, or to default on these promises at the last minute?
Unfunded Promises (billions)
7,900 Social Security
22,800 Medicare
35,300 Medicaid
9,100 Federal Debt
75,100 Total Unfunded Promises (billions)
above curent tax collections
2,100 Federal Pensions
3,700 Veteran Benefits
1,600 All Other
—————
7,400 In current budgets (billions)
$82,500 Total Promises (billions)
The unfunded promises of $75,100 billion are 34 times the $2,200 billion in taxes estimated to be collected in accounting year 2010 (the year ending Sep 30, 2011). There is nothing saved or set aside to satisfy those promises, and there is no tax revenue now collected or saved to pay those amounts now and during the next 75 years; that is the meaning of “unfunded”.
Bob’s unfunded promises (in proportion) would be $1,736,00 increasing at 3% yearly, to be paid off in 75 years, over and above Bob’s current, spendable (and already spent) income of $50,000 (current tax collections).
EasyOpinions -> Family Budget
Andrew….while experts declare ‘unfunded liabilities’ to be somewhat subjective, I have never seen the figures you indicate. The experts I follow and they are a lengthy list of academics, long time government accounting and analysis experts along with several other highly respected NGO governmental accounting firms, and their subjectivity consistantly lies between 60 and 100 TRILLION dollars.
Andrew….I think you’re numbers are really okay but the billions/trillions are stated a little out of whack:
["The unfunded promises of $75,100 billion...."]
Take away the $1 trillion in new spending by obama, and the unfunded Medicare and Medicaid obligations, and the situation becomes one requiring some minor course corrections rather than a boat rushing down rapids to niagra falls.
Republicans are idiots for not screaming it from the rooftops.
Ryan’s plan solves the problem by rolling back the obama financial crimes, by converting Medicare into vouchers and by not allowing Medicaid to destroy the country.
The founders were not stupid people. This is why when voting began there were stipulations. We need stipulations now, as well. Only those that pay taxes should be allowed to vote. This automatically precludes those who are termed ‘takers.’ They need to be out of the mix because they contribute nothing to society yet they expect the ‘makers’ to provide for them. I say let them provide for themselves or starve to death. Getting rid of the welfare deadbeat voters will be an immediate assistance to those of us who pay our way.
What about the people who pay no net income tax, but do contribute to Social Security? The (becoming notorious) family of four with an income of $50,000, whose tax credits yield no net Federal income tax. Do the parents get to vote?
there is no fairness in the present system. something the democrats use to instill class warfare.
the democrats are morally bankrupt. they play politics and say they help the poor ..they should say they help make people poor.
poor people vote democrat because they want or think they will get something for nothing.
I agree that “taker” should not get a vote.
As an Independent voter, I saw through Obama the first time around and didn’t vote for him. I won’t vote for him in 2012 either. To the Democrats out there who think that raising taxes will increase revenues, remember: it is a proven fact that when you raise taxes you collect less in revenue. The only way out of the budget impasse is to leave taxes at the present rates or lower them and cut expenditures dramatically. Paul Ryan’s deficit reduction plan seems the most sensible plan put forth so far. As a person near retirement age, I wouldn’t mind in the least the Medicare reduction, as long as Obamacare gets repealed.

Here’s one for starters: http://freedomeden.blogspot.com/2011/04/sarah-palins-speech-madison-video.html
Hope other candidates will have the the same guts this lady has.
To the best of my recollection, VDH’s takes on Obama since his taking office as president have evolved in stages from an open-minded let’s-wait=and-see position all the way to his present, clinical designation of Obama-as-patient, a sick man, with along-the-way intermediate, so-so appraisals such as intelligent but inexperienced, naive, unsure, mistaken, immature, not to mention Obama as sometimes just plain dumb — principled diagnoses all, laced with illuminating observations and facts on our president’s words and deeds.
At the present writing, however, after only a little over two years of Obama’s presidency, the United States of America is on the brink of total bankruptcy and turmoil, wouldn’t it be more accurate to say that a majority of our electorate, more accurately fits the descriptions above better than Obama does, and that indeed all of us, We the People, VDH included, are HIS patients, while Obama, healthy, wealthy, and wise, in full command of his faculties, our Quack-Witch-Doctor-in-Chief, is the one willfully and happily pushing us over the cliff?
The middle fifth of wage-earners are paying less in taxes than they have at other times: http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=3151
Often they are paying more for Social Security and Medicare than they are Federal Income tax. Certainly these people are not getting rich, but they are also paying less in taxes than they have previously.
Are these people getting away with something, or taxed just about right for this overall economy?
Forgive me for going off topic, but I just can’t help sharing a vital story in the ongoing war against—obesity.
All the jaw jaw about daily political events definitely absorb a fair amount of my time, but let’s get personal, AMERICA!
VDH, have you seen the 89 minute youtube lecture by Dr. Robert Lustig of UCSF, that proves (to me) that fructose is poison?
Oh, I hope so, and if not, I hope you give a bit of attention to him.
From July 2009, it already has a MILLION hits, and the NYT’s even featured a long article about the whole trip recently.
I predict eventually this confession and proof by a conventional MD will rock our population, sooner or later.
Dr. Lustig should win the Pulitzer and be as famous as Louis Pasteur!
As a health nut for forty years, who finally dropped all fructose in 1998, my body is testament that sugar = poison, because as a 69 year old, I’m much healthier than the “average” old goat!
Also, Dr. Lustig’s tour de force radically changed my hard core opinion about fat and obese people, mostly.
I (still) believe in individual responsibility, and long viewed gross people as gluttons and sloths—but, there’s MUCH MORE to it, due to the wicked chronic effects of fructose.
Finally, he considers fruit juices and especially gator aide as terrible.
Happily, in my own case, my cheapskate nature led me to always eat the WHOLE apple and orange, etc!
If one must drink, let it be pure water, or healthy teas!
Bon appetite.
P.S.—type 2 diabetes can be cured by the paleolithic diet, in a month.
Yes—sugar is THE enemy within: LITERALLY!!!
It doesn’t really matter who gets elected in 2012. The country is bankrupt and after a few years of weening themselves from the US dollar, our creditors will come calling. By then, your savings won’t be worth shit and all the effort you make will only go to preserve the lifestyles of your betters in the government. Plus, the people on the public dole will be better off than you and the insult will be that government will fight for them when you finally get up enough “I don’t give a damn” to revolt. It will be a serious slaughter and historians will be left with writing of our epitaph. If Obama is re-elected, this all only happens sooner, not later. Re-read this article now and you will likely find the succinct commentary within.
VDH: This is coming late in the conversation but that old folks tale about taxes seems to never rest! Obama raises Cain about cutting taxes for the rich without acknowledging that the issue should be revenue.
Consider doing an essay on generating revenue, increases therein, rather than Obama’s preferred mode of wealth redistribution. Going back to his conversation with Joe the Plumber in ’08, Obama has continual talked about his wealth redistribution desires. Obama hollers out about the GOP wanting to lower taxes on the rich and I submit that instead, the GOP wants to raise tax revenues without punishing those who are generating more wealth.
Doctor, I trust that your ability to construct reasoned arguments about our life would be most helpful in writing an essay on how to generate more revenue to cut down our vastly growing deficits.
These characteristics are not unique to Obama, but to the liberal mind, every one of which presumes that reality is created by liberal consensus. Thus the contradictions between liberal consensus created “facts” and the facts of reality never interfere with liberal policy.
It follows that no liberal responds to the adverse consequences of their policies, even consequences exactly the opposite of intentions, with reanalysis for errors in means to desired ends. The liberal mind in accepting the idea of liberal consensus-created reality is completely oblivious to the fact that the objective physical processes or reality require the physical implementation of accurate means as the single source of all successful human goal achievement. Thus adverse consequences inspire liberals only to presume that too few people are committed to the liberal cause, an error that compels liberals to respond to crises after crises only with an increase of liberal propaganda in order to arrive at the critical mass of consensus, that liberals believe is needed to command reality.
That is why liberals appear insane to sane people who observe this bizarre liberal enthusiasm to re-implement liberal error as the only response to massive failure after failure…because it is the liberal-free ability to recognize the difference between the successful consequences of knowledge and the failures of errors thought to be knowledge, that also differentiate the sane from the insane.
Obama is like a confused, unintelligible, whimpering James Bond, that no writer or producer can repair.
Re: Catherine, “I have a sad confession. Over the past months, I’ve admitted to conservative friends and family that, for now – I’m sending money to candidates and causes that may be able to pull us back from the edge. But. Come November 2012, if Obama is re-elected – I’m done.”
Catherine, traditional and conservative people (conservative in the sense that Dr. Russell Kirk used the term) by temperament do not like to involve themselves in the affairs of others; we want to be left alone to live our lives, and wish the same for others. We mind our own business, in other words. But these are not normal times in which we live. The last thing a patriot should do now is withdraw, go into his/her castle and pull up the drawbridge. We’ve got to get more involved, not less. A wise man once said, “The penalty for not involving yourself in politics is that you will be ruled by your inferiors.” Haven’t we had enough of that? I know I have.
We okies were ahead of the curve. Obama did not win one of Oklahomas 77 counties. We have excellent Senators and Reps and with Texas we probably own half the guns in the US.
Obama does not want to cut spending. The tiny cuts he proposes are only “on paper” or statistically insignificant. With a deficit of 1.6 trillion he and the Weeping Bartender come up with 38 billion of smoke and mirrors?!
His mission is to destroy our economy and, ergo, destroy the USA. He is a flagburner who hates America, has betrayed us at every turn, loves Evil in any of its myriad forms and must be deposed and confined in some moral and legal manner. The suggestion that he could be parachuted into Dyak country is palpably unfair to the Dyak, who are unprepared to deal with anything more destructive and deadly than cobras, tigers, sharks, et sim.
Perhaps a stint at the Anton La Vey Sado-Masochism center would interest him.
Or a permanent assignment carving the profiles of Hitler, Stalin and Mao Tse Dung in a Talibanland mountainside?
