Our Psychodramatic Campuses

April 13th, 2014 - 6:15 pm

The point is that the Dartmouth students themselves are creations of the very exploitation they project onto others. They and their faculties enjoy privileges undreamed up by 99.9% of the population. DeVry and Phoenix trade schools cannot afford to offer Dartmouth-like race, class, and gender courses to contextualize their accounting, computer programming and nursing programs because none of their students have the cash for such psychodramatic indulgences. Our aggrieved .01% can play act that they are embattled, precisely because free market capitalism gave them those dramatic opportunities in a way unknown in Mexico or the Congo.

So in the spirit of the egalitarian anguish of the Dartmouth students, I offer to the protestors a sample revolutionary proposal to president Hanlon:

“We, the Dartmouth micro-aggressed students, demand that the college hire no more part-time or adjunct faculty unless they are compensated in the comparable fashion to our regular professors. We insist our faculty face the same sort of accountability that all the service workers must face at Dartmouth, and therefore demand an end to lifelong guaranteed employment that tenure ensures. We insist that we be allowed to double up in our dorm rooms to ensure room and board costs remain affordable for the less well off among us. We demand student enablers who can identify all the superfluous .01% comfort indulgences that are both antithetical to our working-class shared values and likewise drive up expenses for the indigent among us. We demand further a mandatory BA exit exam in basic math and English to certify that we were given a proper educational product for the exorbitant Dartmouth $250,000 price tag of our educations.

“Furthermore to cut overhead, we ask the university to allow those privileged among us whose parents can pay full room, board, and tuition to adopt a less well off Dartmouth student, and thereby directly to pay their full costs as well, in an envisioned ‘Adopt a Poor Guy Program.’ We ask for an end to privileged student internships and summer programs abroad and in our major elite cities, but instead insist that we are sent to work along side carrot pickers in Huron, lumberjacks in Medford, and frackers in North Dakota to learn first hand the trauma of what the muscular classes suffer each day at the hands of the financial elite that has subsidized our educations.

“Finally, to equalize admission and remove the inherent and odious class biases that so arbitrarily punish the proletariat, we demand an end to SAT scores and GPA requirements that so obviously reflect unwarranted privilege. Instead to diversify our student body, we demand a five-part admission check list, entailing 1) demonstrable ability at welding, 2) the ability to do basic wiring, 3) proof of a one-year internship at Wal-Mart or Costco, 4). Evidence of at least three months of waitressing at a major chain restaurant, and 5) one-year residence in an inner city neighborhood. Unless our demands are met, we will destroy all latte machines on campus and wreck all the stair-masters in our fitness centers.”

Note to parents:
If you want to ruin your child's ability to become a rational, thinking, adult human being, then send them to a university. If you want a child you can be proud of SEND THEM OUT THE DOOR TO WORK (even in a minimum-wage job)!
You may have to help them with rent for a while but it will d**m sure cost you less than $60,000/year and you stand a chance of coming out with a human being that you can be proud of instead of a brain-damaged liberal!

These are not just Dartmouth college students. If you watch the youtube videos of the protest, all that speak out are female, all but one black. The protesters are mostly female.

These are QUILTBAG intersectional feminists, some of the craziest, stupidest, most racist, sexist, paranoid, and ignorant people to ever come down the pike.

Unfortunately, they are now the default go-to ideology with the most credibility within the Dem Party. Even liberal white men who don't quite know what intersectional feminism is parrot their mantras like a recording. That is how far this nonsense has been mainstreamed into American politics.

Their ideology is a paradigm of failure. These women will not go on to build dams, examine fractal geometry or create new algorithms for the stock market. Their careers will be a stretched out version of these protests, like leeches who exist on the productivity of the host.

They've seen the path Obama took. They've been taught by Melissa Harris-Perry and bell hooks. They know how to manage success from their own endemic failures. This protest is their true classroom time.

The idea these people are in any way oppressed is ridiculous. They are con-men gaming the system, and they will do so for their entire lives. In fact, they are their own explanation for failure, and they know it.

When you spend a quarter of a million dollars to be indoctrinated against your country, its allies, its Constitution, its people and its economic system, when you are treated to a Zinn revisionist history, an Ayers assault on capitalism vs the flawless goodness of small c communism.

You see, you don't learn how to think for yourself. You learn grievance worship. You are Pavlovian trained in victimhood.

You are in regression memory therapy planting false histories of abuse, and you learn to believe them.

"Micro" aggressions that "trigger" your Pavlovian droolings.

Adult leftists making little Stepford leftists. The "aggrieved" run out of or get bored with "the usual suspect" class villains, so they turn on their masters and apply the faux grievance bit in a cute little plot twist.

As VDH astutely points out there is an actual grievance underneath the whole corruption of the academic Indoctrination FarmVille alternate realty scam.

The irony here is that the inmates seizing the asylum doesn't make the point via drama, they do it through broad farce instead

Some elite school graduates will use the courage of their connections to go into the corporate business world. The rest will either live as trust fund babies or go into academia, government, or the non-profits. Republicans control the governments of over half the states. In those states where the governor appoints or the legislature confirms appointments to boards of regents or other governing bodies of state universities, the governor and legislative leaders should get a firm grip on the budgets of the university system and bring them to heel. When you have a university president/chancellor by his budget sack, his/her heart and mind will follow.

Every Republican governor and mayor in the Country should direct his/her HR staff to review the government's job classification system and remove the "a degree" minimum qualification from all job classes. A degree should only be required if it is a necessary part of a specific profession's qualifications. Otherwise, the "a degree" minimum qualification gives a leftist indoctrinated "Studies" major a several pay grades jump over people who actually do the work. In five years the studies major is a supervisor or manager, in ten a direct report to an elected or appointed official, and after that all it takes is sleeping in the right beds or going to the right parties and that studies major, still a thoroughly indoctrinated lefty, is an appointed official in a Republican government.

Since governments can't exercise much direct influence over the largely private "elite" institutions, they can certainly have some influence over their graduates. Any Republican governor who hires an Ivy League lawyer is out of his/her effin' mind unless his family has known that lawyer's family for a few generations, and even then there is no assurance you're not hiring a Dershowitz clone. In fields like law and political science, I view a elite school diploma as pretty much an automatic disqualifier. Government departments like Labor, Health and Social Services, Education, and Environmental Conservation/Protection are largely sinecures for leftist/Democrat activists and money laundries funnelling public funds to leftist non-profits. Republican governors and mayors should pay serious attention to who their government is giving grants and contracts. A little scrutiny would reveal that Republican governments are feeding the hand that bites them. You can't automatically exclude them from contracts and grants because they're lefties, but you can make their life much more interesting and maybe even put some of them in jail. If a major part of the government funding of non-profits is dried up, more and more lefties with fancy degrees will have to wait tables and live in their parents' basement; a good thing.

I bet non of them are science or engineering students.
Sci/Eng students simply have no time for that kind of nonsense: they have to study.

I recall one of these types asking me once (intending to show how privileged I was) how many slaves my ancestors owned. My response:
"None of my White ancestors ever owned slaves. They were sharecroppers and coal miners, etc. My Cherokee ancestors, now, I never was able to figure out yet if they owned any slaves or not..."
Talk about fuses blowing in somebody's head...

My micro-agressive input of the day:
I "can't afford" to go to the college of my dreams, so while attending that college, I demand to be "adopted" by those who fit my arbitrary definition of those who "can": #FirstWorldProblems.

If they wish to destroy their own institutions, let them. All that Dartmouth seems to be preparing them for are careers in obscure and useless teaching positions in other rich irrelevant liberal arts colleges anyway. Today's complaining Dartmouth student is tomorrow's angry white creepy Colby College professor.

How many were involved. Here at Purdue, the school newspaper put out a large article about a petition for the University to withdraw from some organizations they disapproved of. Almost 60 people signed the petition. Purdue has close to 40,000 students. Yet the paper thought this was significant. Years ago, a group wanted to make Purdue "Nuclear Free".
Purdue has a world class Nuclear Engineering dept., a nuclear reactor and a Nuclear Pharmacy department. Some student are completely clueless about anything outside heads.

The sad thing is, far too many of these losers will go into politics because they don't know how to do anything useful.

"4). Evidence of at least three months of waitressing at a major chain restaurant,"

I got my B.S. in Biology from MIT, whose elite status no one can challenge. After getting married between my junior and senior year I worked (during my senior year) as a grocery cashier at Purity Supreme in Central Square in Cambridge and drove a cab for Cambridge Yellow. It is my recommendation that every MIT student hold such a job for at least a semester as a condition of graduation - and I mean "hold", as in "don't get fired for being an a$$hole or incompetent and don't quit". There's a lot of great students at the Institute, but they need exposure to the everyday life of the people whose lives they will affect once they get into the types of jobs they typically get after graduation.

Homie~ Bring back the draft. Spend some time (as is required in Israel) learning to be a man( or woman) taught by accomplished man & women(soldiers). Or: establish a NATIONAL SERVICE ACT alternative. Work refurbishing our roads; work in hospitals to support overwhelmed Dr.s & nurse staffs required to service Obamacare-Medicaid legions on the medical dole...CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY ARE TAUGHT...Some of these ad infinitum puers and puellas may actually learn to become grown-up men or women(and know the differences between!)...

Most great men in history never attended a university. I don't think any of our Founding Fathers ever set foot in Oxford or Cambridge. Shakespeare certainly did not and with droves of English graduates every year I am still to hear that one of them wrote one sonnet that can pair one the Bard's.

You may be right, but in today's world I'd prefer my kids to have higher education for better chances in their future. Actually, all are either graduate or in the process.

Several founders did attend universities in the colonies though, like Harvard or William and Mary.

They remind me of the pampered 18th century children of European aristocrats. They can't even conceive how far removed from the reality of the world they are. And so they get the vapors over non-gender-neutral words in a book to give themselves something to feel. It would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.
