Do please read the final paragraph of Jacques Barzun’s From Dawn to Decadence. Boredom, he says, will help solve these problems, at least culturally (although he wrote his book before Lord Obama got moving really destroying the economy). Boredom will cause people to reopen old texts as the record of a fuller life, and that will, among other things, “resurrect enthusiasm in the young and talented, who keep exclaiming what a joy it is to be alive.”

Speaking of ignorance. It requires a giant dose of willful ignorance to believe our government can deliver all that President Obama promised last night while simultaneously lowering the deficit.

Yes, government has done a few good big infrastructure projects, but this economy, best in the world and most upwardly mobile, was built by the sweat and blood of hard-working Americans, not government bureaucrats.

You really like to paint the “Battered American” as an imbecile, don’t you?

Not knowing the history of America, not knowing that the water we drink from the Sierras to the amazing way we transformed the dustbowl into the Great American Breadbowl, was all government projects to make America great? And so she has been.

You assume that the “Battered American” doesn’t get the difference between government waste, and what the Reagen Revolution brought upon this country, from Iran-Contra illegal spending, full circle to Cheney’s no-bid contracts to Halliburton – contracts which wasted billions of dollars and cost us countless money in the disease it caused in our own soldiers who succumbed to sub-standard facilities and diseased water brought in by the very people we overpaid to take care of them.

Shame on you, for writing this as a “one month in” diatribe against a president that was lawfully elected. Shame on you, for giving voice to a non-existent “put upon American” who only has gripes against a person who just got elected.

You are one of the main reasons the American public is turning against the Republican party. You assume ignorance.. nay, you wish for it.. so you can make baseless accusations against those you disagree with, and hope to get away with it.
