Fort Hood—A now familiar horror
News accounts are spotty; emotions run high; reliable information is rare; rumor abounds. Nevertheless, what are we to make of Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan’s horrific rampage at Ft. Hood, Texas, where in cold-blooded fashion he murdered 12, and wounded at least 31?
I think on the one hand we will see the familiar therapeutic exegesis, in which we hear of traumatic stress syndrome, justified and principled opposition to the Iraq and Afghan wars, generic mental illness, anger at being deployed overseas, or maltreatment from fellow soldiers due to his Muslim faith and various other efforts to “contextualize” the violence. (I am watching Major Hasan’s cousin on the news right now [I think], on spec, explain that the otherwise normal killer was a victim of bias and was ill at ease with firearms (after shooting over 40 victims and surviving the carnage). I cannot imagine the trauma of family members of the dead hearing such sentiments aired, or knowing that the killer apparently had voiced prior extremist sympathies.
On the other hand, one could instead see Hasan in a long line of killers and would-be murderers of the last decade that in some loose way express an Islamic anger at either American culture or the United States government or both, as a way of elevating their own sense of failure into some sort of legitimate cosmic jihad.
Prior to 2009, there have been at least 20 terrorist plots broken up after September 11, 2001—aimed at subways, malls, military bases, airports, bridges, and synagogues. Those foiled cabals are in addition to more common scattered murdering by freelancing angry killers, who in some very general way either evoked radical Islam, their own faith, the Palestinian cause, al-Qaedistic Islamism, or solidarity with worldwide Islam (from the Beltway sniper to the UNC and the San Francisco car murderers), and a number of lethal attacks on Jewish centers and temples resulting in numerous deaths (from the LAX attacks to the San Francisco and Seattle shootings).
In 2002, long ago, I wrote an article in which I called this al Qaedism and updated it with more recent examples in 2007.
In this year alone, aside from the recent mass murdering at Ft. Hood, there have been four more terrorist plots uncovered. Colorado resident Najibullah Zazi was recently indicted for conspiring to use explosives in the U.S., apparently as part of a plot to let off a bomb in New York on the anniversary of 9/11. In addition, North Carolina residents Daniel Patrick Boyd and Hysen Sherifi were arrested and charged with conspiring to murder U.S. military personnel at Quantico, Virginia. In Texas, Hosam Maher Husein Smadi—a 19-year-old Jordanian citizen who was in the U.S. illegally—was arrested and charged after he placed a would-be bomb near Fountain Place, a 60-story office tower in downtown Dallas.
Most recently in Boston, a Massachusetts man was arrested in connection with terrorist plots that included attacks on U.S. shopping malls and on two White House officials. Tarek Mehanna, 27, of Sudbury, Mass, was charged with plotting with other terrorists from 2001 to May 2008 to carry out overseas and domestic terrorist attacks— including killing shoppers and first responders at malls.
While there is sometimes talk of backlash and anti-Muslim hysteria since 9/11, I don’t think the number of Muslims attacked or killed is comparable to the number of non-Muslims killed by Muslims who evoked Islam in some way as a catalyst for their angers. Nor do we see comparable serial Christian, Hindu, or Jewish-inspired attacks either against mosques and Muslims or the policies of the United States government, either by single actors or more active and organized plotters. I do not quite then understand our official government statements that “the attacks of September 11th, 2001 and the continued efforts of these extremists to engage in violence against civilians has (sic) led some in my country to view Islam as inevitably hostile not only to America and Western countries, but also to human rights. This has bred more fear and mistrust.” In theory this sounds magnanimous and serious. In fact, I would like to see examples of “some” and serial incidents where very many Americans out of unwarranted furor have helped breed “fear and mistrust”.
Perhaps worrying about such violence or trying to explain it constitutes “fear” and “mistrust”. Here is an example of what I wrote in 2002 after the sniping and random acts of Islamic violence :
When, as an individual or collectively, he constructs someone or something culpable for his own — or his people’s — sense of failure, then a primordial urge to lash out follows. His mind returns to the seventh-century never-never land of scimitars and sharia law mixed in with rote chanting of “Allah Akbar!” while his body and material appetites are stranded in our cosmos of Baywatch reruns and professors on the BBC and CNN whining on about the dangers of Islamaphobia. What, then, are the catalysts for the al Qaedist that turn him from hothouse anti-Americanism to deadly violence?
After the 2007 Fort Dix plot, I wrote nearly three years ago the following chilling prognosis:
So, in the end, what are we to make of Fort Dix — yet another post-9/11 straw on an increasingly tired camel’s back?
We know that CAIR will neither seriously admonish Muslims charged with terrorist crimes nor introspectively examine the larger Islamic culture that seems to so incite the jihadist.
Such organizations will not do so as long as they can far more easily play on the self-doubt and guilt of the affluent and leisured citizen, who is supposed to believe that the dangers of radical Islam, both at the state and individual level, are mostly fictions inspired by our own prejudices. The sermonizing here in the United States by an Ayatollah Khatami, readily received by complaint listeners, and the satellite-beamed sophistry of Tariq Ramadan prove that well enough.
Most Americans will not remember Fort Dix in a week — just as they have forgotten Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle, Lodi, Portland, and all the rest; just as they want out of Fallujah now and probably Kandahar tomorrow.
Yet, at some point, the jihadists will go too far. Many of us, erroneously as it turned out, thought that, after twenty years of serial provocations, radical Islam had done precisely that on 9/11.
Apparently not. But such forbearance, even at this late hour in the post-West, is still not limitless.
The more a Palestinian imam promises us our death, the more the Iranian president promises a world without America, the more these al Qaedists, like the most recent keystone clowns at Fort Dix, do their small part in trying to reify such mad rhetoric, and the more the sophisticated apologists assure us that we, not they, are the real threat, the more likely the sofa-sitting, channel-surfing American will some day very soon blow up, rather than be blown up.
And I added this tonight on NRO’s corner:
We know little so far of the terrible carnage at Fort Hood, though the news media have been airing all sorts of explanations and much of their information has already proven erroneous.
Yet I think it is fair to say that the Fort Hood mass murder could be seen in two larger contexts:
1) a disturbing pattern of attacking American soldiers on bases or offices inside the United States (e.g., the 2005 plot to shoot down military aircraft leaving the National Guard base in Newburgh, New York; the 2007 mass murder plot at Fort Dix; the shooting at the Little Rock, Arkansas recruiting station, etc.),
2) what I once in two NRO essays called al Qaedism, or the spontaneous rage of disaffected Muslims, who connect their own failures in some sense to generic radical Islamist sentiments, and act out that anger by running over the innocent (San Francisco or North Carolina), shooting Jews (the LAX or Seattle attacks), or shooting up malls or sniping. These are of course different from but in addition to the 24 organized plots that have been broken up since 9/11, four of them this year alone.
Far more rarely, do they ever suggest that the Islamist notion abroad that America is to blame for mostly self-induced pathologies in the Islamic world mostly goes unquestioned here at home— and as a result filters down to the lone angry and violent here that there is some sort of cosmic justification that can amplify their own outrage at a sense of personal failure or setback.
If it is shown that the present killer openly in the past expressed sympathies for or tolerance of Islamist violence abroad, one would have expected, in the current climate of fear of being seen as illiberal or judgmental, little repercussions or formal preemptory action to preclude the possibility of future violence.
In other words, the narrative after 9/11 largely remains that Americans have given into illegitimate “fear and mistrust” of Muslims in general, rather than there is a small minority of Muslims who channels generic Islamist fantasies, so that we can assume that either formal terrorist plots or individual acts of murder will more or less occur here every 3-6 months.

It struck me how much CNN tried to avoid the Muslim issue in its reporting. The strange fact is that even on the topic of the dangers of Islamism the US is now more to the Left than Europe.
The incompability of Islam in general (not some radical fringe) with Western Civilization is openly discussed over here.
I was watching the events from Europe and without learning anything about the identity of the killer from CNN International, I immediatly knew that this was Islamic inspired terrorism.
Humans do have the ability to recognize patterns in danger. Probably a biologocal thing
Gays cannot join the Army but Muslims can? I know: though topic to discuss in our open liberal constitutional societies. But how to be sure that you are not creating sleeping cells within your National defence
ROP-
As you know,
the Islamic Religion of Peace has a book called the Koran.
The book teaches that anyone that kills or is killed has to have a reason for killing, being killed,
or the deed is not justified.
If Maj. Hasan pleads -not guilty-
in a court of his peers,
You will then know that he considered what he did as being justified.
My Christian religion tells me that I should not kill unless I am ordered by a president, king, or leader to do otherwise,
then the sin of killing is on his head.
His Fear of deployment or Combat Stress-
I don’t think so?
..been there done that.

As usual Victor you have eloquently stated a problem we seem to have in our nation. Now I want to know what is your solution? Do we make all the Muslims wear some sort of symbol on their clothing to for warn the rest of us of their potential homicidal tendencies? I don’t have any answers but after Virginia Tech (32 dead) nerdy Asians scare the hell out of me.
I’m not going to bother quoting Qu’ran or citing other references. For that go to JihadWatch.org and Robert Spencer’s excellent books on the subject. Suffice it to say that the Qu’ran and sharia law require every believing and practicing Muslim to strike down the infidel wherever he/she may be found. This war has been going on since 632 CE and continues. It is more than time the American people, hell, Western Civilization as a whole, awoke to the fact the Islam calls on the faithful to destroy us. No ifs, ands, or buts allowed. This is not some tiny aberration or a nut-case redressing supposed slights or wounds.
And than there is Obama. While the Nation awaits the President to address the Tragedy, it takes him 2.30 minutes to tackle the topic. Before that it is all about a conference of Native Americans and their culture and values and the wonderful work of the (community?) organizers.
Oh my GOD.
PS.
The footage of the killer in Middle Eastern Dress within the compound was almost as mind boggling

Another case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome. I watched Anderson Copper on CNN last night look at me like a deer frozen in the headlight, wondering what the ‘motivation’ of the blood thirsty killer was.
In another thread, I asked how many of these things happened under Bush’s watch. I withdraw that question. Thank you for answering it. Sometimes, it’s hard to keep up.
I understand that, for once, CAIR said they had nothing to do with it. Nope, not us. Have they perceived that this was perhaps a step too far? Do they fear the backlash of a roused America? Do they fear that this will enrage us; that this will finally make it real; that it will, once again, awaken the sleeping giant?
Not to fear. Obama is here. Hmm, cold comfort, indeed.
“While there is sometimes talk of backlash and anti-Muslim hysteria since 9/11, I don’t think the number of Muslims attacked or killed is comparable to the number of non-Muslims killed by Muslims”
That’s what makes this country as great as it is, doc. Any place else and mobs in the streets would be slaughtering people in ad hoc pogroms. This is what Obambi will never understand.
On a related note, the fact that this particular cutthroat was allowed to stay in the Army was quite likely a result of the political opportunism of the leftist Democrats who have been trying to cast the American military as the villain in this country’s wars for forty years. We can talk about conservative revival, but, until the sort of people who send politicians like Obama and Teddy Kennedy to Washington pull their heads out of their fourth point of contact (as they say), we will see more stories like this.
I didn’t know the shooter’s name until this morning. I am not shocked in the least.
“I think the public will resent the disconnect between what they are told to think and what they believe, on the basis of some evidence.”
I think, Prof. Hanson, you give the public too much credit. Many believe the MSM chapter and verse.
Yeah, he was just a teddy bear at heart who freaked out over deployment to Iraq “because he opposed wars and conflicts” – which is why he *voluntarily joined the military in the first place, and then went on a shooting spree. Give me a break. Latest spin is that he was upset over people defaming his religion, yet we know he was on probation for pushing islam in his workplace, so this isn’t some guy that just wanted to be left alone, he was engaging people over his religion and he wasn’t happy with their negative responses. That alone wasn’t the cause, he was defending Mohomicide bombers (all too common from so-called “palestinians”) The typical Islamist that divides the world into muslims vs nonmuslims and can’t accept to be on the side of infidels vs terrorists in Iraq because in the end terrorists are muslims and the us military is secular. Infidels must not be helpers or protectors to muslims. It’s all basic Islam, and that’s all what an Islamist is, a muslim that is educated about his religion and takes it seriously. Islamists dont distort Islam, to produce terrorists, they dont have to.
I think the public will resent the disconnect between what they are told to think and what they believe, on the basis of some evidence.
I’m surprised and alarmed that they haven’t already. How many times do we have to get bit?
After a certain point, Americans will simply get tired of Islamo-fascist violence.
I’ve been really tired of it for a long time now.
What are the odds that the MSM will investigate the mosque that MAJ Hasan attended as well as the ideology advocated by his imam?
This was clearly an example of militant jihad and Hasan endeavored to martyr himself.
Dr. Hanson:
“…what are we to make of Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan’s horrific rampage at Ft. Hood, Texas, where in cold-blooded fashion he murdered 12, and wounded at least 31?”
A public hanging.
(And I’ll be more than happy to tie the noose.)
Last night on Fox News Shep Smith was twisting himself into a virtual pretzel trying to not mention the jihadi’s name or religion. Hey, maybe if we pretend it’s not happening it will go away!
Note to Shep and other ‘wishers’: Jihad is not an aberration of Islam, it is integral to it.
Note to Muslims: Someday we will decide we are sick of it.
Islam is as Islam does and as Islam CONSTANTLY produces violent genocidal killers then THAT is what Islam IS.
Fox has a criminal profiler on now, Pat Brown, who is pretending Hassan’s religious beliefs had nothing to do with the attack. (He was just a $100,000.00 per year loser, who happened to yell Allah Akbar as he carried out his jihad, er, I mean personal struggle.)
“While there is sometimes talk of backlash and anti-Muslim hysteria since 9/11, I don’t think the number of Muslims attacked or killed is comparable to the number of non-Muslims killed by Muslims who evoked Islam in some way as a catalyst for their angers.”
Certainly true in America. After 9/11, there were claims of a “tidal wave of hatred” against Muslims, but there was one murder attributed to “anti-national origin” (and not anti-Muslim) hate. There were about 300 “intimidations” reported — incidents too minor to rise to the level of simple assault, evidently name-calling or less than that. Of course, these incidents are self-reported, too. There were about 40 arsons recorded — but as we learned from the purportedly prejudiced “southern church burnings” of the 1990′s, many such unwitnessed, symbolic property damage incidents are actually hoaxes set by the alleged victim, sometimes for financial gain, sometimes for attention. None of the 1990′s church burnings were traced to racial motives in the end, but they are recorded in textbooks now as racial hate crimes, as is the “post-9/11 tidal wave against Muslims.”
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee declared yesterday that the backlash against them has begun and is urging members to contact the F.B.I. if they are attacked.
The F.B.I. apparently has a hotline ready for these not-yet-committed hate crimes, but they are not calling the 12 murders and 31 other attacks anti-American national origin crimes. Odd, since Obama just expanded their powers to do so last week.
Of course, Bush didn’t try to include the 3,000 murders of Americans in the 2001 Hate Crime statistics either.
Europe has had a very different experience than North America. Massive overwhelmingly Muslim immigration and the formation of huge ghettos, combined with the fin de siecle failure of nerve called “multiculturalism” have created a far more volatile situation there. I’m a conservative and am strongly against jihadism, however I also acknowledge that there are several million Muslims living on this continent and they are overwhelmingly not violent and most are well integrated into society. I’m not diminishing the threat of aggressive Islam, however we need to keep our minds clear when these things happen. Last night I read a comment on a well-known conservative site that all Muslims globally should be exterminated, and that they were lower forms of life than vermin. The comment was not deleted or even challenged. This is outright evil, and I would be ashamed to be in the same room as a person like that, much less consider them truly “conservative”.
>>>Gays cannot join the Army but Muslims can?
That’s the second time I’ve heard that said. Gays can join the military. Nobody’s asking who you sleep with when you sign up.
But I do find it interesting that the same rationale for “not asking” gays isn’t also applied to Islam. Does not Islam also have a detrimental effect on “unit cohesion”? I would think that after today it certainly would.
But these things are not allowed to be discussed openly in a Liberal society. The conditioning is too strong.
Victor, we are already there.
I’ve read the army had been watching this guy for six months and he spoke about this to several other officers. I only hope they will take action now on other Muslim American soldiers who have expressed these views before it’s too late and there has to be others. My sincere condolences to all those killed, wounded and their families.
Most of us know enough to know this, to know that Christianity and Judaism teach us not to murder in our bibles. It is there for our children to learn in the Ten Commandments. There is no way that we can call Islam a religion, because it is not. If they wish to call it a form of a religion than they should re-write their books, those books he passed out yesterday.
Those men and women need the money from our Government for this war. How terrible it must be to think that they send us to fight a war knowing that our own Government is not going to send the money needed to support the Soldiers. How terrible would it be to go to war knowing the money and support are lacking in our own Government as they send us there.
To murder is not devout, it is not a religion. To hear the news say “One of Their own” to describe this killer makes me sick, because one of our own does not kill us.
Those soldiers live there at Fort Hood, it is their home for a time, and one of their own would not come into their home and kill them. I thought of it as terrorism and a form of terror when I heard the news early yesterday. Terrorism-a form of violence- in their own home and it did not come from one of their own.
Our Media stinks, and I realize it is a sensitive subject and I realize that we cannot blame a whole group for one man’s actions, but tell the truth and call it what it is, terrorism.
The victims and their families are in my prayers.
You can be sure that if the shooter’s name were “Timothy McVeigh Smith III” his background and ethnicity would be all over the news. There would be no hesitency to conjecture about his motivations. The headlines would be “WHITE SUPREMECIST or MILITIAMAN or ANTI-GOVERNMENT NEO-NAZI EXTREMIST OPENS FIRE ON SOLDIERS”. And the AG, Homeland Secy, and FBI would be mobilized to fight right-wing extremism in a heartbeat. Instead of giving shout-outs, Obama would be somber and lecturing us on tolerance and multiculturalism, and how this was caused by “hate radio.”
But since this was a Muslim with jihadi symnpathies, he is the real victim here, a “real American” (as his cousin stated) sent off the ledge by anti-Muslim bias and PTSD-by-proxy.
Welcome to PC America, where the uber-victim can murder and maim at will and will get a pass, and the deeper implications of his thoughts will be swept under the rug.
Next time a Muhammad Jihad binLaden shoots up a place shouting alahu akbar, this will have nothing to do with Islamic terrorism. Nope. NOthing to see here. Keep moving along.
The Army has a problem. Not Muslims; like the scorpion in the fable, they are what they are.
But the military is giving Muslims uniforms and guns and letting them walk freely on our military bases. Now the Army has 40 wounded or dead soldiers. What are they going to do about it?
You see the same sense of aggrieved entitlement in the Islamic world today as you saw in Germany between the wars. The Palestinians in particular have recreated the German evolution almost exactly.
Germany went insane because they had a long tradition of (1) seeing themselves as innately superior people deserving of “their place in the sun” and (2) a veneration of violence as the most admired means of acquiring that well deserved patch of sunlight. This began to snowball after the Franco-Prussian war and then exploded after the loss of WWI. The Nazi didn’t create this cultural insanity, the insanity created the Nazis.
Muslims are far less capable than Germans but there are more of them and modern technology has made smaller groups more dangerous. If we don’t pop this festering blister of aggrieved entitlement soon we will see something just as dangerous down the road.
My heart goes out to the families of the victims of this horrendous crime.
Watching Geraldo Rivera this morning on Fox, I got the distinct impression that he was more concerned about rampant anti-Muslim backlash than he was for the grief of those families whose loved ones were murdered by this nut. He kept reiterating how valuable Muslims are to our war effort in an almost sermonizing manner, and even had to tell a story about his own father’s fear of a backlash against Puerto Ricans if a crime was committed by a Puerto Rican.
Even after 9/11 (when three thousand were murdered by Muslims) there was no widespread vigilantism against Muslims. People like Rivera and others in the media like him will always play the race card. They are actually part of the problem why race is such a big issue today, when in actuality, before Obama, Racism was very much on the wane in our society.
This reminds one of the Virginia Tech debacle on several levels. Most importantly, it is a classical failure of “gun-free zone” policy.
When do we get tired of turning the other cheek, and what can we do? I am sure that actors like this are but a minority of muslims, but it only takes one.
I was quite angry last night, and started wanting revenge on innocent people. I know, but it’s not like the victims here weren’t innocent as well.
We, as human beings, need an effective response to these behaviors. Were these not (genetically, if not mentally) human beings, we’d be reacting with much more effective fervor.
Literally, I don’t know what to do, but I fear that there will be a tipping point, beyond which rational response will be left behind.
This was a test by Muslims to see just how far Obama will bend over for his “Muslim Brothers”.
He has already bent far enough starting with his bow to the King of Saudi Arabia to make one realize that Larry Sinclair might be correct in his assertions about Obama.
After all it isn’t every person elected POTUS that can make the “My home town” claim regrading Jakarta Indonesia.
MAJ Hasan is not a ‘lone wolf’. His actions speak of militant jihad and the belief that Qu’ranic scripture compelled him to undertake this attack. Look further however, and you’ll find a mosque and an imam advocating such attacks (likely Saudi funded Wahhabism).
Interesting points. It was very maddening yesterday to see this characterized as “not terrorism”. Well, obviously, it was terrorism. It may not have been part of an organized conspiracy, but I don’t see how you can argue that is wasn’t terrorism. We should never forget that the Islamic call to jihad is a personal call; each Muslim is individually called to action. The jihadist joins the cell, the cell does not create the jihadist.
RE #18/Parabellum:
[...] Last night on Fox News Shep Smith was twisting himself into a virtual pretzel trying to not mention the jihadi’s name or religion. [...]
Si vis pacem, be happy that Fox didn’t send Shep to cover the Maine referendum.
To be a Major he must have reinlisted a number of times. He could have quit before.
The shooter’s parents were Palistinians. It would be nice, since our government has given them billions over the years, that they would express some sympathy and solidarity with their benefactors.
Now more than ever I appreciate George W. Bush’s words, “You’re either with us or you’re with the terrorists”.
Following up on #21′s post, I did a little checking with the FBI, specifically their Hate Crimes reporting since 2001. According to the reports, in seven (7) years, there have been the following violent crimes against Muslims motivated by anti-Muslim sentiment:
Murders – 0
Forcible rape – 0
Aggravated assault – 91
Simple assault – 217
Not what I’d call an epidemic.
Bless the souls of the dead. Comfort the hearts of the living
Since Hassan had never deployed, but had treated troops returning from the theaters of war, will he be diagnosed with second-hand PTSD?

I’m sure what finally drove him over the edge was the realization that his deployment was getting close, and that he would actually be in company with men and women who were killing his Muslim brothers on a daily basis.
Imagine his rage at thinking about being in Afghanistan and having to hear soliders talking about blowing away the Taliban, day after day, week after week . . . seeing the shattered bodies of those he loves . . . no wonder he flipped out.
What are we to make of the shootings? I don’t have any information, but its very important to jump to conclusions as soon as possible. Seriously, dude, weren’t you the one complaining about the short comings of the media just a week or two ago? This is plainly the most irresponsible kind of writing.
As for this:
I think on the one hand we will see the familiar therapeutic exegesis, in which we hear of traumatic stress syndrome, justified and principled opposition to the Iraq and Afghan wars, generic mental illness, anger at being deployed overseas, or maltreatment from fellow soldiers due to his Muslim faith and various other efforts to “contextualize” the violence.
I haven’t seen anything like that. Here take a look at this, NBC, your favorite leftist defense contractor complex:

I swear, if you ever make sense about something, it will be certainly the day I look for the rapture.
@ Steve 22.
That is the worst aspect of resisting Islam. Islam will attack your sense of civilization and drive you mad if you let it. Look at the Chinese. Muslims start knifing people on buses then the Chinese go mad and form roaming mobs looking for revenge. Civil order collapses and society will stop functioning, Islam wins. Islam will try to bring you down to it’s level.
Don’t forget some of the most brutal acts in western civilization were done by those fighting Islam. Vlad the impaler, Serbs and reconquest Spanish come to mind comes to mind.
But Don’t be fooled by peaceful Muslims. They know you are Kufer and you deserve what you get.
While there is sometimes talk of backlash and anti-Muslim hysteria since 9/11, I don’t think the number of Muslims attacked or killed is comparable to the number of non-Muslims killed by Muslims who evoked Islam in some way as a catalyst for their angers.
Its estimated that nearly 8,000 Iraqis were killed simply in the first month of the invasion of Iraq. I suppose since the military doesn’t ever mention it, nor does the media, in perfect deference to the government of both Bush and Obama, you can ignore it. It doesn’t justify it, but it is true. Living in a fantasy world, and using the comforting mythologies that exist there to make your useless, bigoted analysis helps no one.

I know from experience at the base where I was posted for 9 years, if you own a firearm and live in on- or off-base military housing, you MUST register all firearms with base security, even if they never once come within the fence of the actual military base. (Off-base housing at my base was about a mile outside the main gate.)
How much did the Army know about this guy and when did they know it?
Muslims should be treated as they treat others.
America will unfortunately reap what it has sown. We’re always afraid to say anything or it will hurt someone’s feelings.
The truth is hidden to avoid a disagreement, so we come to expect the degrading behavior against our country, and the media tries to hide the truth. time to face the facts, America is under attack
Obama is a poor leader to have at this juncture.
We need to question the media also. Why are they protecting this man? Why don’t we know everything about him? hidehidehide
America is under attack and we best start defending ourselves. or we will be like Europe/
According to his prior public statements, actions and his scream to Allah as he pulled the trigger, this man is a Jihadi. That is simply an objective, info-filled designation. He is a Jihadi. Therefore, if you have been paying attention, you know what to expect. There are two methods for dealing with apprehension/incarcerattion for the Jihadi. One may be called the Padilla Counter-Offense. This is the strategy that enlists the Left, in personnel and philosophy, in making procedural and Constitutional objections in concert with multi-culti excuse making. You saw this well demonstrated with OJ. But since Hasan was caught so red-handed it seems likely he will take the Khalid-Sheik Muhammed Counter-Offense route which declares the kaffir court illegitimate and proudly proclaims his profficiency as a Jihadi. Hasan is about to gain many powerful friends. We shall see them gather presently. Could Al Sharpton throw his mighty weight to his cause? He is about to embark on another leg in his journey of Jihad. We must see that it does not end happily for him. Besides being terrorism, this is treason. He must be hanged. Quick.
I rarely side with religious fanatics. As a rule, I avoid them. But number 23 JesusLand makes a good point. I served many, many years in the military and by the time I left I got really fed up with puting up with those, that have no respect for anything but themselves. I joined. I did not join a religion or a lifestyle, I joined. The marines and navy did not join me.
I had to serve my first two years, then a couple decades as a volunteer….keyword, volunteer. I left cuz I got tired of the bellyachin…plain and simple. And I hate war. I hate those that love war. And I hate those that hate. There, I said my peice…
Say ten million words. Spin in fifteen dimensions. The fact remains that Major Hasan is an enemy.
I may be old-fashioned, but it seems to me that H. Rivera’s “fear of backlash” (caused by one of a group committing atrocities in the name of that group) – is as habit for him – misplaced. Isn’t that type of fear rational, if deserved? Isn’t this fear of retribution something to be encouraged, fostered and realized when deserved?
Otherwise, such massacre of the innocents will continue unabated. Fear of payback is at least ten thousand years old. It’s been a successful moderating influence, no?
Obviously, Major Hassan has been secretly the enemy of US, since he enlisted. He lied about his true loyalties the whole time. Conflicted? Fatally for 13 troopers.
The Army is calling the Ft Hood atrocity an “isolated incident.” Is this to quell the fears of US non-Muslims that there aren’t 5,000 more Muslim atrocities about to be carried out. (I mean we know there will be, just not when.)
And when it isn’t isolated, they’ll tell US non-Muslims that it wasn’t an “isolated incident” involving murderous Muslims? And?
The heroine was NOT a 1st Responder, she was on the job. SWAT teams are NOT 1st responders. 1st responders only bring bodybags and squeegees.
He is an Arab, not Pushtun; there are no Arabs in Afganistan, except for Bin Laden and his close associates. So it is not an ethnic solidarity, but a religious solidarity. In view of this it would be prudent to keep all Muslims away from sensitive military objects and security zones, such as airports, critical infrastructure, sensitive information, etc. Not PC, of course, probably, even not fully constitutional, but Bill of Rights is not a suicide pact. German and Japan nationals were treated in USA much more harshly during WWII, and for a reason.
Now we’ll get the inevitable deafening silence from the ‘moderate muslims’ we hear so much about. Except, as the Dr. points out, to claim anti-muslim victim status.
Notice they’ll say ‘Yeah, what he/they did was wrong, BUT…’ Then out comes the parade of grievances. They know that violent jihad IS a required collective obligation for muslims. But don’t take my word for it — read the koran and the hadiths yourself.
What court will hear his case? Since he is enlisted in Army, this should be court-martial? If so, he can be sentenced to death by firing squad?
This guy is as AMerican as an AMerican can get. Going out in a blaze of glory. Killing all sorts of innocents. Mass murder is America. Nothing to do with religion but everything to do with not being able to handle difficulty.
We are country of sad sacks.
(Hussein) “Obama’s Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting/
A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama.”
http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/politics/A-Disconnected-
After all, why Hussein should care about this? “God damn America” is his belief and marching screed – America is a land of criminals who deserve the worst history can object them to -
Was I the only one who I saw Obama truly passionate only when speaking in Cairo about the dwarfing merits of the Muslim civilization, and when in Gates case said that “police acted stupidly”?
Good to have the Wright tape to see where is Obama’s passion –
—————
PS: Talking about Hussein Obama’s mysterious background – some onomastic trivia:
Now we are all know the name of Nidal Malik Hasan – “Hussein” (Hussain) actually means “little Hasan”, or “son of Hasan”…
Certainly, from now on a solid political selling point…
Sadly, Islam is the only religion that I am aware of that when someone says “God is Great”, something really BAD is going to happen.
I’m not going out today to kill any Muslims. However, the people who have been lying to me for years are NOT going to convince me that compassion will address what they define as a non-problem.
If it walks like a duck… #52 westerncanadian is right. Not only is Hasan an enemy, there is absolutely no doubt that we are infested with many similar enemies. This will happen again, and again.
At this point, PC = hiding head in sand.

“But the military is giving Muslims uniforms and guns and letting them walk freely on our military bases. Now the Army has 40 wounded or dead soldiers. What are they going to do about it?”

This is an argument for treating Muslims differently than treating other ethnic and religious groups.
In reporting news of a mass shooting such as the shooting an editor is advised to tread lightly on evidence that the shooter is a religiously motivated Muslim. First there’s the probability that it is not true. Some initial reports of the Oklahoma bombing were that the bomber was Muslim. In the initial confusion, people look for scapegoats. Second, an editor must judge the probable consequences of his actions. Identifying a mass murderer as Canadian is not likely to elicit anti-Canadian protests in this country or to incite anyone into assaulting Canadians. Identifying a mass murderer as Muslim and attributing his acts to his religious faith is a far more consequential charge and should pass a higher bar of credibility before its reported. This is called editorial judgement.
Conversely, I am a little mystified by the outrage expressed by many pundits that the religious and ethnic identity of the shooter wasn’t emphasized in the initial reports. It’s been less than 24 hours since the incident. The delays discussed in your article amount to hours. The image I get is of a John Wayne movie – “mass murder down at the base, let’s round up a posse and ride over to the mosque”.
Another reason to treat Muslims differently, both domestically and internationally is that we’re much better at killing them then they are at killing us. One reason domestic Muslim violence gets a pass, so to speak, is that many responsible people are deathly afraid of what an anti-Muslim backlash would look like in this country.
I very much respect your opinions and enjoy reading your articles.
News report says 50,000 troops stationed at Hood and not one had a gun to shoot this guy with? Took a lady cop to take him down.
Dang I posted too soon.
ORLANDO, Fla. – Police are searching for a gunman who injured at least eight people at a downtown Orlando, Fla., office building.
But I do find it interesting that the same rationale for “not asking” gays isn’t also applied to Islam. Does not Islam also have a detrimental effect on “unit cohesion”? I would think that after today it certainly would.
Why stop at Islam? Oh yeah, the constitution. You are exactly the type of person the founders had in mind when they wrote it.
This case is in early days.
One salient issue will be the source of the weapons used. That is probably a major concern of the Army – who has access to what.
27. The Road Less Traveled: “There is no way that we can call Islam a religion, because it is not.”
30. Bonnie_: “Not Muslims; like the scorpion in the fable, they are what they are.”

Islam = Muslims = killers, enemy, crap, mindless violence in the name of “religion”..religion? I don’t think so..
Soon we will find we are like the Europeans, bowing to everything these people want.
Denial will be our undoing as a nation and a pitiful weak Muslim leaning leader like Obama is no help to our security.
Malik was not silent about his beliefs..people knew he was twisted,…People knew..and stood by.
Daniel Pipes calls it “sudden jihad syndrome.”
Hasan’s imam describes Hasan as very religious. That is what is often said about the sudden jihadist.
In Islam, “very religious” and “jihadist” go together.
Hmmm…
if the prevailing theme continues to be fears of American intolerance and unfairness to Muslims after 9/11, I think the public will resent the disconnect between what they are told to think and what they believe, on the basis of some evidence.
I already resent it, and I’m going to be upfront and honest here in admitting that the more this kind of thing happens, the more I “fear and distrust” Muslims.
News report says 50,000 troops stationed at Hood and not one had a gun to shoot this guy with? Took a lady cop to take him down.
Yeah, imagine that. A female law enforcement official with a gun doing her job. Crazy.
The Army is calling the Ft Hood atrocity an “isolated incident.” Is this to quell the fears of US non-Muslims that there aren’t 5,000 more Muslim atrocities about to be carried out. (I mean we know there will be, just not when.)
LOL, I would salt your posts with some anti-Islamic perjoratives, otherwise your seemingly specific inside information may have the FBI knocking on your door, you crazed terrorist.
So it is not an ethnic solidarity, but a religious solidarity.
So, when Jewish Americans are jailed for spying for Israel, is that religious solidarity or ethnic solidarity. If the former, should American Jews also be kept away from sensitive material?
I’m a non-practicing Muslim, with all the credentials that would garner me profiling, and yet I can’t seem to get mad at the incredible ignorance here. I simply think that over the years people have just become inured to the hillbilly reactionary discourse on the issue. People, outside of the cul de sacs, Ozarks, etcetera, have daily interactions with Muslims. They’ve met very westernized ones, they’ve met traditional ones, they’ve met people they can’t stereotype, and so their first instinct is to hold off until the situation is clearer. And even then, I think that most [non crazy] people have a vested interest in not projecting this event as something that reflects on all Arabs, or Muslims or Palestinians or however you idiots would like to create your bigoted stories. You’re a dying breed; teach your children well, it will be hard for them to carry on your legacy of stupidity and intolerance in the world that is coming.
This sort of mollycoddling of malcontents within the military has been going on for a lot longer than most know.
When I was in the military in the early 80′s the unit I served in had a group who were ardent followers of Louis Farrakhan. They spouted the most vile nonsense and were openly contemptuous of the U.S. government. They were tolerated and left to fester least they make accusations of racism that would end your career.
Even if our politicians and media shy away from calling Islam what it is — a violent, backwards cult, that is the only way I see it. These Muslims are losers, and they’re lashing out because they KNOW they’re losers.
This probably explains Major Hasan’s rage. Apparently a fellow soldier keyed his car and ripped up a Muslim bumper sticker.
The bumper sticker read: “Allah is Love.” Irony there? Nah.
We have one thing going for us here, the Second Amendment.
“A female law enforcement official…”
Yep….and she is going to feel mighty uncomfortable when the FBI starts investigating her to determine the nature of the crime she committed.

#74 moho:
“I’m a non-practicing Muslim, with all the credentials that would garner me profiling, and yet I can’t seem to get mad at the incredible ignorance here.”
Are you now?
So you’re an apostate, then.
This is not good, chummie, we know what the penalty for apostasy from Islam is.
It’s your cult…you try to leave it or set it aside, and you merit death.
So we both know that you have far more to fear from other members of the Ummah, than you do from any hillbilly.
Although that may change…
moho- is there such a thing as a nonpracticing Muslim? Since it is a ‘religious’ ideology as well as a social, political and economic mode of life, then if you practice non of its axioms, you can’t be Muslim.
Judaism is a religion not an ethnicity.
The reality of Islam, as opposed to,for example, a national identity such as ‘Canadian’ is that it doesn’t exist as a political constuct but as a dogmatic ideoogy. Its axioms, understood as immutable laws, dictate that all followers must reject Others. You are either Muslim or you are effectively, an enemy. The Qu’ran is quite specific on the lack of rights of those who are not Muslim, and on exorting Muslims to kill these ‘infidels’. For example:
“Qur’an 98:6—Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al-Mushrikun will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures.
Qur’an 9:29—Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”
The question for Muslims is – do they want to reform this ideology, which emerged in 7th c tribalism, filled with hostility to other tribes/peoples – and so enable themselves to live in a modern global world, or do they want to live within a 7thc tribal mindset whose rules will drive them into a paranoid conflict with the modern world?
The Media twist and dangle to obscure the truth. The White House avoids, concentrates on great Indian chiefs. The Congress and Pentagon, complicit in the great failure to remove the veil and see, does and says nothing, focusing instead on non-exsistent health care “problems” and “gays in the military”.
But the people do see, do feel and do know. And there will be a price to pay, some day, sometime, somehow, somewhere.
This will not be allowed.
It is written.
Just another Jihadist doing the work of his father the Devil as many of his brothers have done before.
The Truth is (if you can hear it) that Hasan’s religion is the antichrist religion led by the false prophet Mohammed and they are at war with the Infidel. If you are not Muslim you are an Infidel. How many examples of this do we need? The cases VDH cites should be more than enough.
To cover up the Truth many will say that most Muslims are peaceful and that Islam is a peaceful religion, NOT TRUE.
The truth is that most Muslims like most Christians, don’t take their religion very seriously so they’re “peaceful”.
It is not politically correct to say these Truths but it is necessary if we are ever going to win the war on terror and prevent more Fort Hood attacks.
The light of the Truth must be shown in the dark areas in Washington and other Capitals where reality is being clouded by the political correctness police who for whatever reason believe citizens incapable of handling the Truth probably because they can’t handle it themselves.
It will be found in the Fort Hood case that this could have been prevented if only we were not living with handcuffs on the Truth. This man could have and should have been exposed. He was hiding in plain sight.
Some of you would like to call the Truth “hate speech” but remember this: The God of Truth still has the ability and desire to save even His enemies but He does it but shining the bright light of the Truth upon their sins. It is then up to them how they will respond. The light of Truth is the tool used to right all wrongs.
Governments keep making excuses for tragic behavior and then punish the many for the sins for the few rather than acknowledge the Truth and find the rest of those few who will bring on the next tragedy. Yes the Truth can hurt and probably will but ignoring it will be deadly for us all.
The resident muslim troll spinning like a dervish says we shouldn’t stereotype every muslim as a jihadist, the same way he stereotypes non-minorities, living outside of the eastern megalopolis as a racist,red-neck hillbilly.
I think perhaps there is a more important issue about this atrocity not addressed in the above comments. The mass murderer had dual social identity in the therapeutic class (psychiatrist) and was a religious fundamentalist (Muslim). The secular notion that the de-religionized, de-racialized, psychoanalyzed modern person will end up morally superior is questionable. Some will say that it was religious fundamentalism of the murderer that motivated him, that it was not the failure of secularism but the resurgence of fundamentalism. But this shows that fundamentalism and secularism are often intertwined as pointed out in the recent book by sociologist Peter Berger and Anton Zijderveld
39. Incorrect. He is a medical officer, specializing in psychiatry. Doctors have at least an eight year service obligation after completing medical training, so no, he never had a chance to resign prior to this.
If only our soldiers had guns . . .

be happy that Fox didn’t send Shep to cover the Maine referendum
IMO, Shep needs to go out more. Fox should send him out as field reporter to get an education.
moho, instead of getting all mad and sputtery at “hillbillies”, why not spare a little anger for those of your co-religionists, who shoot American soldiers, perform homicide bombings, hijack airplanes, plot to plant bombs and attack subways (remember all the foiled terrorist plots back in Setpember?) and, in general, give your supposedly peaceful religion a bad name?
I mean, c’mon, that’s not the hillbillies’ fault, is it? I mean, how is it intolerant, or ignorant, to point out that Islam does seem to be having a bit of a violence problem these days?
Moho, you know they usually paint you and me with the same brush. I do not like extremes and most often I side with you. I know how you feel being picked on all the time. But hey, this ..idiots…name calling thing your doing, specifically at this time is not good. Extreme right wingers may be wrong in our view, but they are not idiots…and they are..very much are patriots. They care about our country (like you and me) and they are human. So be better. If only for a moment. If you want to complain to them complain, just please pick another time and place. Sorry if I ask too much…its not a good time to pick on patriots….Thanks.
33. Exactly! If only ten percent of the occupants of the medical facility had been armed, would he have been able to shoot 42 people? But on Ft Hood, as on all military installations, concealed (or open) carry of firearms/weapons is disallowed. Officially, it is at the installation commander’s discretion…but not really. By the time an officer reaches that level, he/she knows what is and is not in the best interests of his/her career. Ie; there is an unspoken policy, at the federal level, to disarm all residents and workers on all federal installations…federal and state constitutions, permits, and reciprocity notwithstanding. Ask anyone in a position of considerable authority, anywhere in America, or the applicable JAG (Judge Advocate General) office, and the answer will be that “it is policy”. So, while we all, military and civilian DoD employees, take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, we are nevertheless denied the means to protect and defend ourselves and our coworkers and loved ones. Military installations, popular conceptions to the contrary, are just more examples of target-rich environments.
I have as much tolerance for Islam as it has for me.
For all those disgusted by this further manifestation of Islams war against all others, and the liberal media’s automatic employment of their favorite paradigm templates to excuse it, consider this inevitability: sooner or later Radical Islam will go too far and do something so terrible that it will provoke a response from the non-Muslim world which shall end with Islams anihilation (see Ralph Peters novel, “The War After Armegeddon”). Once the West is fully aroused and mobilized, Islam will have no chance (see Victor Davis Hanson’s “Carnage and Culture”). I have just given you a preview of the future. I, for one, welcome this eventuality – Islam is a blight on humanity that must be eradicated -not because we are intolerant bigots and genocidal maniacs, but because Islam, by its own doctrine and behavior, has forced this “them or us” ultimatum upon us (see Samuel Huntington’s “Clash of Civilizations”). So be it – it will be “them”.

Actual eyewitness account.
A very sad day for all Americans, Blue, Red or Purple.
Call it what it is. Its muslims who hate us who want to live here because they hate their own lives yet once they get here and taste some of the freedoms and lifestyle etc, they still hate themselves so they want to destroy us so we will live back in the stone ages like they do.
Its like trying to make Lions and Elephants lived in the same small area. They both like food and comfort but they dont like each other because of their physical appearance and approach to life. While the occasional muslim might be able to fit in, that is rare.
Like Elephants and Lions, americans and their values cannot live and interact with muslims and their values yet we continue to give them stuff while they plot to destroy us.
The fact that it happened in the military makes it even more sad. Muslims should not be in the miltary. Their mindset is not to defend america and what it stands for.
We need seperate ourselves from them before they assimilate and destroy us in the next 50 years. This crazy guy was just an example of the problems that come with trying to put europeans with muslims.
Dear President Obama,
I’m writing regarding the attack on the Fort Hood by Major Hassan. There are approximately 4,000 active duty troops in the US Military that self-select as practicing muslims. You must order that these men and women be subject to complete review of their activities and comments outside and inside their duties in the US Military. If it is found that they have made statements or are making comments online that are sympathetic to muslim radicalism they must be honorably discharged with what ever benefits they have attained. The men and women of the United States military deserve the utmost protection that our intelligence services can provide; if we are unable to keep tabs on this fellow who publicly makes statements against the United States of America while serving in the US military what hope do any of us have?
Finally, you must order that any base that has activities where troops are unarmed because of training or other activities that an armed presence is on hand to retard this from ever happening again. When my grandfather and my father served they were issued side arms to defend against this and other eventualities.
Major Hassan shot a pregnant women; if that isn’t enough for you to do the right thing in this instance I don’t know what is.
Respectfully,
If we don’t get this government back in 2010 – we are dead.
27. The Road Less Traveled: “Most of us know enough to know this, to know that Christianity and Judaism teach us not to murder in our bibles. It is there for our children to learn in the Ten Commandments.”
Correct. That is why murder is virtually unknown in Judeo-Christian societies.
“69. Annie: “Islam = Muslims = killers, enemy, crap, mindless violence in the name of “religion”..religion? I don’t think so..”
Is there a moderator out there, or has PJM just accepted its role as a hate site?
is there such a thing as a nonpracticing Muslim? Since it is a ‘religious’ ideology as well as a social, political and economic mode of life, then if you practice non of its axioms, you can’t be Muslim.
Who said I practiced none or any of its axioms. One can have a Christian ethic without being Christian? I’d like to see you dispute that. No I really would. There are few things more entertaining than watching you people collapse into a pile of cognitive dissonance when trying to explain how cultural parallels in your own society aren’t exactly the same thing you’re criticizing in others. Please continue.
Judaism is a religion not an ethnicity.
Better tell Israel, they think that having a “Jewish” mother is good enough for citizenship in the Jewish state. Can’t wait to hear this one too.
If the mental convolutions we habitually are expected to go through to act like “we really want to understand” why Muslims keep murdering non-Muslims at every opportunity were the pattern in our courts of law, I doubt very much any murder trial would have resulted in a conviction in the last 50 years.
It is absolutely insane. Our mental processes have surrendered to PC even if our behaviors and beliefs haven’t.
The kind of internal self-examinations evidence on PJM today are being repeated all over the internet. Everybody has to prove that they being are being REALLY REALLY thoughtful before they dare to say: “Yup, officer. That’s what I saw. He came out of that doorway right there. He put the gun to her head and ‘BLAM!’ That’s about it.”
Oh, no. Only after 6-8 months of investigations…..then how much you wanna bet we’ll get some 879 page publication explaining how the military is being revamped to be more sensitive to the difficulties of enlisted Muslims? Of course, I can see they have a problem, since they are training alongside the people they plan to kill and are worried about having the right cell phone on them when the order comes.
This is so ridiculous. No one is allowed to instinctively defend our country any more. No one is allowed to state the obvious any more.
Ah, well, what better can you expect from slime like me, pro-life and all. I’ve got to get back to preparing my bricks for the windows I’m going to break down at the abortion clinic and get my Bibles ready for bashing people over the head. Oh. That’s right. I forgot for a minute. I don’t do those things.
When, then, will American politicians abandon the p.c. assertion that Islam is “a religion of peace?”
There’s a too-wide gulf between how Americans regarded Japanese immigrants and Japanese-Americans during war with Japan and how we treat Muslim-American and Muslim immigrants at a time of war with Islamist militants the world over. It’s almost as if the Japanese internment experience caused Americans so much guilt that today we cannot bring ourselves to entertain the possibility that some Muslims in our midst might mean us harm.
Deja vu all over again. Or Groundhog day if you prefer. Yet another member of the great peaceful religion of Islam having a bad hair day. The fact that he is a psychiatrist is somewhat mitigating since the majority of shrinks are a bit disturbed themselves. And I can certainly understand the deep psychic wounds he received by those meanies who were a bit put off after 9/11 and dissed him. Tsk,tsk.
When the “alleged” gunman comes to, who wants to bet that he will recall nothing and explain it all as a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.—- I mean Dr. Hasan and Mr. Mujahid —- psychotic event, at the cost of millions in defense attorney costs.
But the real issue is this: Can the 21st century culture (soaked with sophistication, sophistry, and cynicism) triumph over dedicated, committed, and faithful 15th century militants?
N & T:
“If only our soldiers had guns . . .”
Stupid ass, if the guns on the base weren’t in lockdown, the pig would have been shot dead before he gunned down a lot of innocent people.
God, you’re dumb as dirt.
myth buster,
No you are incorrect, an obligation to serve 8 years does not mean that he couldn’t have asked nor have been granted a release from that obligation. It happens for a variey of circumstances.
moho, instead of getting all mad and sputtery at “hillbillies”, why not spare a little anger for those of your co-religionists, who shoot American soldiers, perform homicide bombings, hijack airplanes, plot to plant bombs and attack subways (remember all the foiled terrorist plots back in Setpember?) and, in general, give your supposedly peaceful religion a bad name
Let’s not forget the Muslim father who recently ran his daughter over with a car because she had become too ‘Westernized.’ Or the guy in NY who cut his beautiful wife’s head off.
Those are the real “hillbillies,” the rednecks of the planet – violent, ignorant women-haters.
What some of you are discussing and in some cases, advocating would require a “clear and present danger” and as we all know, there is no clear and present danger. None. Only wishful fantasy. There was no imminent threat in 68, 88, 98 or 01 or 03 and there aint one now. The last time there was a clear and present danger was in december, 41…Yes, its bad but remember that this guy went berserk, he just went berserk..he was a nut case..so did the guy in Orlando. Think about it…. Take two asprin and call me in the morning, … im afraid that that..is what the doctor orders.
It’s not about Muslim and Islam… Is it?
This guy was a contentious objector, which means he shouldn’t have been deployed in the first place, but you know how many countless times I seen this rule or regulation ignored?? Also the one for “Sole Survivor” (meaning the only male member of a family is not to deploy in war-time efforts)…
So who is the blame? Because we humans have to place blame..
The Military? For ignoring this man and continuing to let him serve as he states countless times in uniform that he is against the war. Why send someone who is against what you are doing? Ahh Haa NUMBERS.. the military needs numbers and need slots to be filled..
But you cannot go against a entire group of people or Muslims or Islamist because of particular events or the acts of particular sects.. That would not be fair.
It’s like I said it’s not about Muslim/Islam..
It’s just a case of the Kansas City Shuffle… Meaning I get you so fixated on one thing and soon as you turn away long enough I attack you from behind..
Just as the media and everyone is putting a fixation on Muslim/Islam.. Kansas City Shuffle…
It’s like, I walk up to you and say hey what’s that and as you turn and look, I sucker punch you..
It’s so sad that this has happened.
It’s bigger than what you may think.. Just keep praying and Keep GOD first always and HE will get you through.. I promise…
There better be a real investigation and not some whitewash, and when it is done there better be some stars and eagles on the ground, especially the criminally inept evaluation and promotion boards that were to afraid of backlash and let this nutjob stay in the system.
This was the worst terror attack on American soil since 9-11.
IS the FBI ever going to wake up? They do not see this for what it is.
Yet another member of the great peaceful religion of Islam having a bad hair day.
That’s what I thought when I read about the Orlando case. Hey, they haven’t proven the guy’s a Muslim yet, but there can’t be any other logical explanation.
This is madness. This is blasphemy. This is…
If the mental convolutions we habitually are expected to go through to act like “we really want to understand” why Muslims keep murdering non-Muslims at every opportunity
What an absurd statement. He had every opportunity for 34 years. As I have. You’ve apparently lucky to have lived this long. Most non-muslims are dead at the hands of muslims by puberty.
moho – in #75, you yourself said that you were a non-practicing Muslim. That means you don’t practice its rules of belief and behaviour. What else could it mean? And therefore, since you don’t, then how can you define yourself as a Muslim?
As for having the Christian ethic, i.e., an ethic of not harming another person, of course one can have such an ethical belief and also not be a Christian, i.e., not believe in the Trinity, etc. You certainly don’t need to believe in the latter to believe in the former! The ethics of not harming someone is derived from Reason. Not faith in a Trinity! You can be an atheist and have that same ethical standard.
Judaism is a religion and not an ethnicity. Islam is also a religion and not an ethnicity. Both are defined as heritable; that is, you are assumed to be born within a particular religion by your parents being of that religion. Islam is patrilineal; Judaism is matrilineal.
Ethnicity refers to a group, defined as a distinct group, by virtue of country of origin, cultural and historical history, language, etc. You can be of any skin color, linguistic background, history, etc; i.e., be of many different ethnicities..and be of the Judaic or Islamic religion.
Christianity requires a separate action, carried out by a non-family member of the church, baptism, before one is defined as a member of that religion. In that sense, it is uniquely not lineal but chosen.
Now, how about explaining how you can define yourself as a Muslim and be non-practicing.
I will gladly embrace Muslims…who seek out, drag out and turn in any of their faith that preach and prepare for murder in the name of Islam.
I will stand with any Muslim against anyone threatening Muslims…if…they stand with me to protect any American be they Christian, Jew, apostate.
116 Moho….huh? I’m on your side … we have GOT to get a “sarcasm font” on these sites….
#95 Colonel, USAR is correct. The sleeping giant is stirring. We, the people, are watching and waiting. No amount of soothing speeches will quell what arises in the heart, the soul of the people. The battle between the Warrior Allah and the Prince of Peace will take place. Iran will have its nuclear weapons and they will soom be in the hands of the 7th Century hoardes.
Choose your sides wisely for political correctness will disappear with the first blow.
God help us all.
moho: at what point in your life did your brain become you penis and penis become your brain?
I know you are just inciting on this topic just like you always do, but for God’s sake can’t you stick a sock in it for all the obvious reasons.
Would you really be defending this if you were in the company of the other soldiers down at Ft. Hood? Or is it because of this anonymity that gives you the freedom to be so callous, vapid, ignorant, self-absorbed and dumb?
Let’s not forget the Muslim father who recently ran his daughter over with a car because she had become too ‘Westernized.’ Or the guy in NY who cut his beautiful wife’s head off.
Yes, because when white people do these exact same things, they are simply exercising their right to individuality. It has nothing to do with the culture or religion that spawned them:
What does this say about non-mulsims:
Identity of Person Arrested in Murdered Nun Case Finally Confirmed; The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been entirely unhelpful in allowing the media to properly report just about anything regarding the nun murdered in New Mexico over the weekend…..FBI spokesman Darrin Jones has finally confirmed to Townhall.com, after the paper had to track down court documents identifying the suspect, that 19-year-old Reehahlio Carroll of Navajo, New Mexico, has been arrested and charged under Navajo law with “the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought.”
We feel compelled to update you on Edward Wycoff, the Sacramento County truck driver who killed his sister and brother-in-law, Paul and Julie Rogers, in their El Cerrito home in 2006 because they had “screwed up” his family.
We have new information tonight about the woman whose body was found in a suitcase near a dumpster today.
The body of Dorie Eppler was discovered this morning behind the cornerstone apartments on East Kentucky street.
The night felt restless in Old Louisville /Thursday as neighbors walked streets recently shared with a murderer.
45-year-old Dorie Eppler’s body was found stuffed into luggage near a dumpster behind an apartment complex Thursday morning.
And on and on…I found these by simply entering the word “murdered” into google news. You’ll note that the majority of stories there are white on white crime. Can you please explain how your culture is not culpable for the actions of Wyckoff? He killed his whole family, that seems to be a tradition with you people.
The cover-up of Islamic deeds and intentions is ages old and world wide. Our media is just carrying on the tradition.
Find a copy of “the Decline of Eastern Christianity under Islam” by the Egyptian author Bat Ye’or, and prepare to be seriously depressed. This storm has been a long time coming, and it ain’t going away soon.
You might want to give some thought about why you don’t want to become a Muslim and how much you are willing to suffer because of that choice, because the day approaches when you will have to make it.
Lord, have mercy.
moho is really on to something….
i mean on something
wow…
# 47 Moho RE: Its (sic) estimated that nearly 8,000 Iraqis were killed simply in the first month of the invasion of Iraq. I suppose since the military doesn’t ever mention it, nor does the media…
If the media and the government don’t mention it, where does the estimate come from? The Iraqis themselves? Who among them were counting bodies and compiling data during the first month? And where were their loyalties while Saddam was still alive?
Does your figure take into account the Iraqi operatives who carried Central Casting victims from combat zone to combat zone for days and weeks to pose for the CNN cameras? Or the Iraqi Government’s penchant for moving hospital patients and children to places that were high on the coalition’s target list? What even marginally civilized society does that to their own, BTW?
With Republican Guard and Iraqi Army troops shedding their uniforms at will, what kind of confidence does one reasonably have about the combat status of these individuals? And how do we know by whose ordnance were these unfortunates forwarded to Allah, ours or Saddam’s?
These are the questions that come to mind when you draw a meaningless, orphaned figure like this out of your leotards.
However and to what degree Major Hasan was a “nut”—if he even was one, he was a Muslim “nut,” and the Qur’an and Islam’s worldview, its Jihad, it hatred for the subhuman “spawn of pigs and apes,” the “unbelievers” who obstinately resist and stand in the way of the will of Allah, the one and only true God, and the Qur’an’s command in Sura 2 and elsewhere to “…kill them wherever you find them,” sanctioned and channeled his nutsiness in a particular direction, and towards very clearly identified targets.
We will hear endless chatter in the MSM to deflect us from examining the central, the major, decisive role of Islam in all of the above, and in favor of the nutty “loner” theory, and we will hear the—by now—standard statements by Hasan’s Imam, relatives and friends about how they were “shocked”—as was Capt. Renault about the gambling going on at Rick’s in “Casablanca”—that such a nic, peaceful, ordinary American would do such an obviously deranged and uncharacteristic thing; it must have been the prejudice against Muslims and harassment that drove him to do it.
Whatever caused the arrow to be put to the bowstring, Islam powered the draw, aimed the arrow, and picked the target.
P.S.—I note that Hasan was the child of Palestinians, and, from the evidence, the Palestinians are the most far gone, depraved, indoctrinated of Muslims—check out—among other things–their Sesame Street type TV programs, telling young children that their highest aspiration should be to be suicide bombers and kill Jews, at MEMRITV.org.
Moho is a wonderful ambassador for his people and religion. Thanks for the insight!
When … individualy or collectively, he fantasizes someone and something (the Crusades, say or — centuries later, the 100 HOURS it took America’s projected power to annihilate that other Hussayn’s “Mighty Arab Army”) culpable for his own and his stinking culture’s ABSOLUTE failure, a primordial urge to lash out follows and he mindlessly returns to the seventh-century delusionally-fantasized pre-Crusades land of scimitars and Sharia mixed in with culture-wide goat, sister and little-boy buggering sexual-frustration, promises of eternity in a brothel where the bodies of 70-odd children will be forever available to him for rape on a whim — and the rote chanting of “Allah Akbar!” While meanwhile his body and his carnal and material appetites are stranded in our unreachable-by-him or by his similarly stuck-in-the-seventh-century “culture,” cosmos of what appears to be easy and apparently unappreciated success of we dwellers in G-d’s actual Heaven-on-Earth! (And in our Israel-based front lines!)
The catalyst, then, that turns your average common-garden Muslim from hothouse anti-Americanism to deadly, Islamanazi, violence?
His own, generational, psychopatholgical Hesperophobia.
In reaction officials and news people often opt for therapeutic exegeses—stress, often of the postraumatic sort, ill-feeling and bias shown Muslims, family problems or brain-washing by nefarious outside actors—to explain the cold-blooded nature of the Islamic ideology’s 1,400-years-long history of rape, sexual-uutilations and scores, probably hundreds of millions of murders.
Rarely to never is it stated that the systemic Islamist obsession that “The West” as epitomized by America — and by our Heaven-on-Earth’s front-line outpost, the nation of Israel — is “to blame” for ABSOLUTELY self-induced psychopathologies in the Islamic world ALWAYS goes unquestioned here — and as a result filters down to EVERY Hesperophobe as some sort of cosmic justification that can amplify his own outrage at the reality of his own and his “cultures’” abject failure and inevitable setback.
Pretty soon, then, given that actual America is WAY smarter than the failures and other folks*** that comprise our at-its-very-very-best-bloody-awful feral gummint, We, The People, will finally sufficiently resent the disconnect between what we are told to think and what we know, on the basis of ALL of the EVIDENCE, we actually believe.
And when we do, We the People will revert to our actual and by no means any delusionally fantasized history (think 1776, think 1917, think – just for starters – Dresden and Berlin, Tokyo, Nagasaki and Hiroshima) and will take whatever action We the People believe is necessary to our individual and our families’ survival, to the safety and survival of our beloved fraternal republic. And to the safety and survival of the very Judeo-Christian/Western/Human Civilization we have long van-guarded — and must forever guard!

Now we all know why MoHo has his panties in a wad all the time…Mean, diversive, acidic views of America and freedom…all explained.. Thanks for sharing with us.
Islam is far far far from a beacon of peace in the world. It is hateful, mean, degrading. “religion” in general is used for so many excuses to mistreat people of differing views.
“God” spoke to them to do these things or some such b.s.. Probably just their lack of Prozac.
Let see, the Dems said the shootings showed how our soldiers are lacking in help from war trama..’course the highly educated Muslim that killed our people was a psychiatrists. The Repubs said it shows we had a jerk using the system to get an education then turning on those he lived off of…(i paraphrased, yes) All the man had to do was walk away, physician heal thou self…
People were aware of this man and did nothing. His family seems to think he’s an innocent victim..puke. I don’t like being afraid in my own country. I do believe Muslims will pay a high price for this action. It’s all sad and disturbing.
# 111: Contentious objector indeed! So much so, he shot 43 people.
#95 Colonel USAR
Thanks for your service.
Ditto your comments 100% only apply it to the Left as well as Islam. The Left will be wiped out forever as well. They hold an obsolete Ideology as does Islam and they both serve the same master and liar from olden times, himself soon to be eliminated forever.
Keep standing up for your country.
God bless.
“collapse into a pile of cognitive dissonance …”
Nice try, Mojo.
Like your sermonizing about folks painting Islam with the same jihad brush, at the same time indicting everyone critical of jihad as rednecks and hillbillies?
Let’s see just who are the ignorant, intolerant hillbillies, shall we?
Those who love and defend freedom and tolerance, or those who subject their women to slavery and the infidel to death. Those who spend treasure and blood to give freedom to strangers, or those who strap C4 to their children and assassinate strangers? Those who send food and medical aid to disaster zones worldwide, or those who burn oilfields?
You want to defend your religion/culture, do so with deeds. Speak against the violence–not its critics.
108. But you implied that his contract was up for renewal multiple times, when it never was, not even once.
eewww MoHo!! this killing stuff has really got you goin’ boy!!! Defend your fellow jihadest!!!.. Sand hillbillies!!!
MoHo I believe you have stepped in your own $#!+ and you stink! Now we all know why you are so crappy on your posts at PJM.
Yeah, dead by puberty. a religion of peace and light Islam (muslims) it is not. It is hatred, meanness, degrading behavior towards your own family on a daily basis.
A religion and way of life that teaches hate just to hate, no reason, following some guy who wrote a book…dictated by one of those famous “angels” Saw a few (angels floatin around) myself in the drinkin days.
I didn’t actually get a book, got some great phone numbers that I could probably write a book about though. We could get together at the local shoe store and see if we can form a religion of them. Shoes, hot numbers, sounds like a religion in the making to me. I have to say some at the end of those numbers would give good reason to be worshiped. Whooaaa boy…
MoHo you are to be pitied, not hated, pitied. I have thought you were just misguided teenager on a site that you could not handle. Now we know better. Pitiful MoHo.
Muslims will be looked at with a jaundiced eye here in America.
Read the Koran, think Mein Kampf in arabic. They really do mean what they say. I fear that Belmont Club’s analysis a few years back is going to prove prescient, the only question is when.
this has nothing to do with the pattern of islamists wanting to do something. right moho? we all want to do something, but some of us hold back those baser impulses, and others seem to find the reason to go forward with them. what reason seems to resonate with your fellow mohomedhans? i have to ask, being a red neck hillbilly and lacking the superior intellect as yours, why, if mohomedhans hate the west and what it stands for, do they migrate away from their land of paradise, and come to the infernal west and then try to reproduce the place they left?
Essential vdh.
The media, local and National politico’s “air brush” reporting, pompous musings, talking heads and the AA, PC answers, and idiot questions about an act of simple murder and terrorism on the US military in America is especially egregious.
It is especially hard for the real victims, because it represents what the MSM and politicians do not chose to understand and never will understand including the Fox news people. What was BHO’s “shout out”!? during his “address” on the death of soldiers to those who grieve?
What a piss ant and clueless POTUS!
The reporting was laughable and we missed Glen Beck who at least reports on what is needed to keep the American titanic afloat. Not about being so sensitive on a Murder rampage by a Muslim terrorist that real time information will not even be reported.
GB’s time was simply wasted by Fox– by them simply saying they do not want to report anything until all the facts are in. My advice to fox news then is get the hell of the air and put some substance back into it. GB does that in spades.
The Media want to be “sensitive” and caring, and look to things like PTSS even when the terrorist has not even been overseas or in actual combat. And has expressed his Anti American views.
The PTSS “process” is like all government protection blankets it eventually covers everyone. Even for hangnails.
John Kerry, the “Vietnam Hero” processed his own purple heart(s) for such splinters and that was over 30 years ago. For any who do not remember J Kerry was in Vietnam on “secret missions” even in Cambodia when it was not authorized. A buffoon then and now. Anti American to the core. His father was a communist sympathizer-who actually thought the communists would win the cold war. An opportunist like his son.
The real reason for the current soldiers being murdered, one that every American knows while watching the idiots display and preen their “sensitive reporting” never gets even mentioned. Other than for some “sensitive” cow to say “it” is not even being considered.–at this time.”
“We can’t and won’t go there!?” it is not politically correct and does not now fit our level of AA ignorance to identify a Muslim terrorist as a Muslim terrorist prodded on by his religion. This sums it up. Bovine intelligence leads America, reports on America.
When a child molester is picked up the first thing the “breathless” reporter says is that he is an ex marine. Whoa! In most cases it will not even be true. Typically no verification is done. Even with the self reporting “heroes” of the story.
Americans can no longer discriminate even to save them selves from being killed. Why do you think “they” want gun control. It is getting worse and accelerating now in Nancy Pelosi’s and BHO’s America.
Now in America it is worse to be non PC and Non AA than to be killed by a Muslim Terrorist or an intruder. How is that working for you Americans still sitting this out as an “independent thinker”. Dumb asses.
The dirty filthy coward, a Muslim, who should have been discharged from the military based on his known anti American views. That is the “impossibility now”
The Japanese were interned during WWII, and rightly so. Roosevelt did it. Just like the A-bomb needed to be dropped to win, win with the fewest casualties. Truman did it.
Don’t you think the two faced Muslim community recognizes that America is granting them a free strike just like cows being lead to the slaughter. Americans can not react even to dodge the “blade” Just like cows in the slaughter chute. Not even aware of what has already happened “up the line” such as 9/11. We are aware but we have been taught to be bovine with AA and PC.
Don’t you think Muslims believe they now are the wolves among sheep and will eventually realize Muslim dominance?
What choice do Americans now have to protect themselves. Ask that when you go to sleep at night. How far will Americans let this kind of self destruction go on.
This is now– since Americans are now “forced” to act like Cows and sheep. Thank about that America when you tally what is happening in the world and in your back yard.
When will we “bleed” enough for all Americans to start doing at least what makes common sense?
Don’t you know that in the Koran it is perfectly OK to lie to “non believers”. It is even recommended to do so to gain the end goal.
When a Nancy Pelosi, a proven and known idiot and nut job talks with tears in her eyes about “right wing” Americans being potentially dangerous, due to language that was taking place in “tea parties”, Get concerned and Vote her out.
When military men and women are being identified in an internal memo by the Department Head of Home land security as potential terrorists, what and how is this current act of treason and murder to be measured.
Home land security will not even recognize it as terrorist motivated. Why? It was not done by a combat veteran, they are the ones killed but they are the “potential enemy”. The killer, a Muslim (a peaceful religion), a “non potential terrorist”, but anti American (Freedom of speech) in the Military who even today could not be discharged without someone “suing” the Army for millions of dollars for “racism”
Does this act of murder and slaughter of unarmed solders on a military base, Soldiers who commit their lives to protecting the US, Soldiers who are killed in combat for a country who now won’t even protect them unless it is PC and AA to do so.
Does this not put in a bright light for all caring Americans to see how our leaders have turned America upside down so it will bleed out. Bleeding into their cash troughs.
Get concerned and have the Anti Americans removed from the administration. That happened didn’t it in the past. Today one wonders “How”.
The reporting on the actions of a Muslim Terrorist, an American military officer, would not even be identified as a muslim initially. Can you see now with this light on who and what America has become and who and what America’s “leaders” really are.
Our “leaders” are like pigs in a pen being cared for, feeding at the taxpayer trough to enrich themselves and thinking Group think, that essentially is destroying America, allowing America to be destroyed.
This dumbed down PC and AA subversion created by communist revolutionary Utopian language simply regurgitated by BHO’s gangs and precedents has stopped Americans from being able to use common sense and discrimination to make the right decisions even to protect our homes and soldiers on our military bases.
All Muslims should be discharged from the Army. No questions asked. A simple knowledge of the Koran would dictate that action. Unless of course like our “leaders” the ignorant hypocrites they are, also then believe the Muslims don’t really believe what the Koran says.
Have we not seen the Muslim preaching films on what Muslims say to each other when only Muslims are present.
I am reminded of bovine Cows when I think of the Republicans, except for the chip monk McCain. I am reminded of nocturnal rats, vicious and in a feeding frenzy when I think of Democrats. I am reminded of mindless, cultists when I think of the MSM.
We have fallen so far in America with the destruction of American values that Americans when needing the ability to use common sense and discrimination can not– even to protect themselves and others from a known enemy. Including Internal Enemies, such as BHO and his gangs, and Czars. What and where is the checks and balance in the Constitution.
Find a voting booth, this kind of thing cannot go on indefinitely without turning messy. Vote with your feet and ability. If you can Go live in states where the taxes are low and individual freedoms at least to have a gun are still in place. Common sense values are there. In the future commen sense may be needed just to stay alive.

Would you really be defending this if you were in the company of the other soldiers down at Ft. Hood? Or is it because of this anonymity that gives you the freedom to be so callous, vapid, ignorant, self-absorbed and dumb?
As usual, your illiteracy gets the better of you. There’s no defense of Hasan’s actions anywhere here. I’m simply pointing out the moronic commentary here, as people seek to convince themselves that this is the coming of some kind of Islamic holy war. By the way the penis comment has to be about one of the dumbest put downs I’ve ever heard. There’s a saying about keeping silent, rather than speaking up and removing any doubt. You know what I’m talking about. Oh wait…you probably don’t.
Least we forget, Obama has upped the recruitment of Moslems to Homeland Security – I imagine this is for a “balanced” surveillance of all those pesky right wing extremists
Extreme right wingers may be wrong in our view, but they are not idiots…and they are..very much are patriots. They care about our country (like you and me) and they are human.
Well, I see no evidence of this. Idiots is a fine descriptor.
I haven’t defended Hasan at all. Nor do I pretend to feel sorrow or pity for people I don’t know and haven’t met. Again, I posted here, several stories of murder sprees by Iraq War vets that garnered no attention here. Not a tear drop or moment of silence. Don’t come to me with this patriot nonsense at this stage of the game. I don’t know if I’ve ever met a true patriot, but these destroyers of everything this country stands for aren’t it!
You disproved your own point a paragraph later. I’m not sure what you’re trying to show the world, except that you haven’t thought your ideas out very well.
moho – in #75, you yourself said that you were a non-practicing Muslim. That means you don’t practice its rules of belief and behaviour. What else could it mean? And therefore, since you don’t, then how can you define yourself as a Muslim?…Judaism is a religion and not an ethnicity. Islam is also a religion and not an ethnicity. Both are defined as heritable; that is, you are assumed to be born within a particular religion by your parents being of that religion. Islam is patrilineal; Judaism is matrilineal.
Lew
If the media and the government don’t mention it, where does the estimate come from? The Iraqis themselves? Who among them were counting bodies and compiling data during the first month? And where were their loyalties while Saddam was still alive?
Yes, of course since the government said we don’t do body counts, how convenient that we don’t ever have to know anything about the people we killed in Iraq. Our cluster bombs and missiles pass harmlessly through adults as well as children. The stats come from Iraq Body Count.
http://www.iraqbodycount.org/database/
Not that anything would convince someone who wants to believe the impossible–that we can have wars without killing thousands of people. Disgusting.
Gary thanks for the laugh. You write like someone on lithium.
Most Commenters on this site are highly intelligent and reading genuine feedback enhances the blog. Readers have also done an excellent job ignoring the obvious, awkward Trolls.
But some of the more recent Comments seem inauthentic. Like a Troll responding to his own bait.
My question for the Moderator is, how many others are posting from the same IP address as Moho? I’m just curious
I read this news with sorrow and the responses of both your President and many posters with a groan.
Mass killings are tragic. Deliberate murder of soldiers serving their country faithfully is criminal and an act of war. For this I grieve and I fear what is yet to come as our world descends further into chaos.
Your President again shows himself to be a buffoon, callous and surely sympathetic to certain brands of extremists. I suspect he’s a danger, but I won’t blame him for the For Hood massacre, just his failure to deal with the tragedy as a statesman ought. As Bono once said of Bill Clinton, “Too tall to be a despot, but watch him closely”. Watch the irony folks. How could your people have voted for him? I cannot talk though – my people voted for Kevin Rudd.
And I groan when I read these posts. It saddens me to see the moderation of American conservatives disappear. Be shocked, America. Be dismayed. Do not stand for evil such as this. But do not jump to the next conclusion: this evildoer was a Muslim therefore all Muslims are evildoers. It doesn’t work like that. Belief systems of all sorts (including atheism – you guys don’t get off lightly) have their extremist nutjobs, don’t they Tim McVeigh?
I’m not flaming here – I’m pleading for logic. Some people are jumping to the flawed logic of “All cats have four legs, my dog has four legs, therefore my dog is a cat”. Consider the following propositions:
1. MAJ Hasan is a nutjob, MAJ Hasan is also a Muslim, therefore all Muslims are nutjobs – seems to be the common thread of thinking here at the moment.
BUT does the following proposition hold?
2. MAJ Hassan is a nutjob, MAJ Hasan is also an Officer, therefore all Officers are nutjobs – the logical process is the same, (and equally flawed) but I doubt that most here would agree with the conclusion.
And what about the following?
3. David Hicks (a white Australian who served time in Gitmo after being caught with Al Qaeda types) is a convicted terrorist, David Hicks is a white Australian, therefore all white Australians are potential terrorists – don’t tar me with that brush guys!
My take is this: certainly we (the West) are at war (with radical Islamicist terrorists). We face an enemy that is organised, world-wide, assymetrical and widely dispersed. We face an enemy that can blend in with the civilian population (and clearly the military population). We must fight the war and keep fighting it until we win (and not PC-ise it out of our vocab either, Obama).
Does it mean we round up every Muslim and shoot / kick out / eradicate / exterminate them? No. When I hear people starting to advocate this – on what was once a centre-right blog – I begin to think of grating mechanical voices screaming EXTERMINATE. Please folks, don’t become Daleks. There are enough of them on the other side.
Oh and by the way, I’ll accept that there’s a strong thread in Islam of hatred towards non-Muslims and apostates and a call to arms against such people. I would imagine, though, that there’s a heck of a lot of Muslims out there who contextualise those lines just as most Christians nowadays (sorry, far-right American fundamentalists, you’re still in the Dark Ages on this next point) contextualise the first few chapters of Genesis as poetry rather than a science manual.
My point here: people wind up interpreting and observing their religion in some pretty diverse ways (just look at Christianity for proof), so much so that one believer disagrees violently with the next believer on some fundamental point or another.
Argh. My head hurts, I have too many soap boxes to stand on. Maybe extremism of some sort would be easier, whether left, right or religious, at least it is simple ;-)
There are, at the moment, some things relating to this murderous attack (not a “tragedy” as VP Biden said) that we know with certainty:
(1) Islam is not a “religion of peace.” Its holy text does demand that its adherents violently convert or subdue the world. That most muslims do not try to act on these violent, medieval proscriptions is a commentary only on their individual morality, not on the nature and dictates of their faith. Moho? A self proclaimed non-practicing muslim who seems all too ready to take up the practice at a moment’s notice.
(2) Terrorists want us dead because it’s a religious, cultural duty and because we’re us. They need no other reasons, no other justification. Anything else is subterfuge, an excuse to fool the gullible until they’re in range of the next jihadist killer.
(3) Terrorists and criminals do not obey gun control laws.
(4) Gun free zones–surprisingly for many citizens who haven’t served, this includes military installations–are among the least safe places in America.
(5) The police cannot protect any given citizen and have no legal duty to do so.
(6) The only thing that can potentially deter terrorists is the knowledge that there are no gun free zones and that when they attack, there will likely be armed citizens ready and able to resist.
(7) When a lunatic starts shooting, the only thing that can stop him is armed, capable citizens who immediately–within seconds, not minutes–return fire.
(8) In gun free zones, even the most rapid police response will be cold comfort to the victims and their loved ones, in this case, some 12 dead and 31 wounded at last count. And in gun free zones, when milliseconds matter, the police will always be minutes away (I do not denigrate the police, but merely state reality).
(9) Liberals and Obamites will surely use this situation to clamor for more gun control.
(10) Liberals and Obamites (I know; I repeat myself) will suppress any information relating to the shooter that might seem negative toward Islam or any other favored victim groups, terrorists, barbarians or nations.
(11) Anyone expressing anger toward the shooter will be branded a racist by the press.
(12) Absent compelling evidence to the contrary, a muslim male shooting up Americans can and should reasonably be assumed to be jihad related, and yes, terrorism.
(13) The media, dems, and the President will be obsessed with “root causes” that forced the poor, misunderstood murderer to attack us. He was Muslim, he hated, he attacked, Americans died. Hand wringing about root causes will not stop the next muslim barbarian.
(14) Should it turn out that the shooter had foreign, jihadist connections, particularly any Iran-related connections, they will be ruthlessly suppressed by the Obamites so as not to bruise “engagement” with those who seek to destroy western civilization and are only to happy to murder each and every American they can find.
(15) No matter how many Americans die, liberals and Obama will never learn, never act, will always extend a hand just waiting to be chopped and/or gnawed off, and will always dither.
(16) There will be more such incidents. Many more, and in each, numbers 1-14 will apply, and in each, number 15 will remain America’s default response as long as Democrats and/or Obama are in power.
Jeffrey, #131: Short and sweet and profoundly true.
But let me enlarge a bit on your sketch.
What is the radical Left’s goal? Is it not the breakdown of our society, and the undermining of the institutions that bond Americans into one people? for the purpose of “remaking” and “transforming” our country into its vision of a marxist utopia?
If the answer is yes, then it comes as no surprise that the Left should flirt with any and all threats to our cohesiveness as a people. This includes the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act that we were told would do NOTHING to change the Western Civilization and culture, or ethos, of America. We were lied to.
This Act and the multiculturalist world view concomittant with it are among the many nails in the coffin that are smothering our Constitution.
But the radical Left is playing with fire if it thinks they can use Islamic Jihad for their purposes and then once aflame it will be amenable to snuffing out.
In the comments there is a lot about how evil Islam is and how the only peaceful, trust worthy Muslims are apostates. OK so if true believing Muslims are a danger what are your remedies for this situation? Victor is very good at pointing out problems but seldom giving solutions. So my question remains Victor what is your solution to crazy, dangerous American Muslims?
98.Greg Scott wants us to make all Islamic US service personal prove their loyalty. Maybe we can ask them all a question like, “Are you now or have you ever been a Jihadist?”
I agree with 92.Poor Citizen. If “Going Postal” was something only Muslims did we wouldn’t call it “Going Postal”. You all know the list Columbine, Virginia Tech…
Here is a list from the AP:
Here is a glance at some of the worst U.S. mass shootings in recent years:
___
Nov. 5, 2009: The Army says 13 people were killed and 30 wounded in a shooting rampage at its Fort Hood base in Texas. The suspect in the shootings, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was wounded and is hospitalized.
April 3, 2009: A 41-year-old man opened fire at an immigrant community center in Binghamton, N.Y., killing 11 immigrants and two workers. Jiverly Wong, a Vietnamese immigrant and a former student at the center, killed himself as police rushed to the scene.
March 10, 2009: Michael McLendon, 28, killed 10 people, including his mother, four other relatives and the wife and child of a local sheriff’s deputy, across two rural Alabama counties. He then committed suicide.
Feb. 14, 2008: Former student Steven Kazmierczak, 27, opened fire in a lecture hall at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, fatally shooting five students and wounding 18 others before committing suicide.
Dec. 5, 2007: 19-year-old Robert A. Hawkins opened fire with a rifle in Omaha, Neb., at a Von Maur store in the Westroads Mall, killing eight people before taking his own life. Five more people were wounded, two critically.
April 16, 2007: Cho Seung-Hui, 23, fatally shot 32 people in a dorm and a classroom at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, then killed himself in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
Feb. 12, 2007: 18-year-old Sulejman Talovic killed five and wounded four at the Trolley Square mall in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was then shot and killed by police.
Oct. 2, 2006: Charles Carl Roberts IV, 32, shot to death five girls at West Nickel Mines Amish School in Pennsylvania, then killed himself.
March 21, 2005: 16-year-old student Jeffrey Weise killed nine people, including his grandfather and his grandfather’s companion at home, and then five fellow students, a teacher and a security guard at Red Lake High School in Red Lake, Minnesota, before killing himself. Seven students were wounded.
March 12, 2005: Terry Ratzmann, 44, gunned down members of his congregation as they worshipped at the Brookfield Sheraton in Brookfield, Wisconsin, slaying seven and wounding four before killing himself.
July 29, 1999: Former day trader Mark Barton, 44, killed nine people in shootings at two Atlanta, Georgia, brokerage offices, then committed suicide.
April 20, 1999: Students Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, opened fire at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, killing 12 classmates and a teacher and wounding 26 others before committing suicide in the school’s library.
March 24, 1998: Andrew Golden, 11, and Mitchell Johnson, 13, killed four girls and a teacher at a Jonesboro, Arkansas, middle school. 10 others were wounded in the shooting.
Oct. 27, 1995: A one-time Army paratrooper killed a fellow soldier and wounded nearly 20 others in a sniper attack at Fort Bragg, N.C. William Kreutzer, who is serving a life sentence, wounded most of the soldiers as they left an athletic field.
June 20, 1994: Former airman Dean A. Mellberg sprayed a military hospital with bullets at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash., killing four people and wounding 23 others before military police shot him to death. Two of those killed in the five-minute rampage were therapists who had recommended Mellberg’s discharge.
Oct. 18, 1993: A civilian Army base supply clerk killed his boss and two co-workers and severely wounded two others at the Training Support Center in Fort Knox, Ky. Arthur Hill then drove 40 miles to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville, where he committed suicide.
October 16, 1991: George Hennard, 35, smashed his pickup truck through a Luby’s Cafeteria window in Killeen, Texas, and fired on the lunchtime crowd with a high-powered pistol, killing 22 people. At least 20 others were wounded.

Based upon the circumstances of the majority of the 1.6 billion Muslims around the world, their poverty, ignorance, and backwardness, and their devotion to Islam, one is forced to conclude that Islam is either the root cause of their plight or it is the a failed strategy to ovecome it, or both. Suck on that for a while.
“. . . the public will resent the disconnect . . . ”
BS! Never happen. Not the American public. The truth doesn’t set them free, it makes them bitter.
Otherwise, you got it all correct as usual, Victor. Add to your thesis that we have 300 million Latin Americans suffering the same gestalts, but without the “Rules for Warlords” (Koran) to guide them, only Ché.
Latinos and Yankee Libs have blamed the U.S. for the pathologies that have kept L.A. in failure despite a nearly two century lead on N.A.
You haven’t seen nothin’ yet — Latinos make up 15% of the U.S. population, illegal Latinos another 5%, and government and media incite them round the clock — and soon comes the “Immigration Debate” the Democrats stew for us.
Those 60 million malcontents, themselves heirs to the Great Caliphate, will one day see the green light our culture implicitly gives to its Muslim terrorists . . . get outta the way.
“News report says 50,000 troops stationed at Hood and not one had a gun to shoot this guy with? Took a lady cop to take him down.”
Armed Forces personnel don’t lug their weapons around on Stateside bases. Arms and ammo are locked up in the armory, and only issued for specific training or security purposes. You won’t see a loaded weapon except on the firing range, or on a sentry.
“The Japanese were interned during WWII, and rightly so”
I respectfully disagree with # 137. This was and still is a shameful part of American history. Most of the Japanese interred, were American citizens . They had their homes and property confiscated for no other reason than being Japanese Americans. In fact, you should have mentioned the children of those Japanese Americans who enlisted in the military, became part of the legendary 442nd Infantry. The unit became the most highly decorated military unit in the history of the United States Armed Forces, including 21 Medal of Honor recipients, earning the nickname “The Purple Heart Battalion.
I salute those American Heroes who proudly served their country and bow my head to the many that were killed so me and my family could live in freedom.

I’m sure you recognize by now, the “bitter clingers with guns” defense.
The nanny-staters have their media mouthpieces institute the prefab blamefest back onto the REAL culprits…”Kooky Kristian Krusaders”…of whom they have not been proud their entire lives.
Hasan was a peace-loving doctor without borders, (mental, emotional, moral or ethical apparently)…and YOU are the problem, not him.
See? Simple.
139@talking stick:
>Least we forget, Obama has upped the recruitment of
>Moslems to Homeland Security – I imagine this is
>for a “balanced” surveillance of all those pesky
>right wing extremists
Yes exactly. Christofascists employ domestic terrorism, and are one of the greatest threats this nation has faced. We must be vigilant in rooting out religious extremism, or preferably religion period. Only then can other countries be asked to do likewise. Tax the churches, return their hoarded gold to the people or tear them down and build public parks.
So it’s terrorism when they kill western citizens, and it’s “spreading democracy” when we kill muslim citizens? Seems to me, both sides are doing quite a bit of killing.
Come back with some empirical evidence and I’ll consider the basis for your bigotry. I like nothing more than pointing out the lack of logic in someone’s argument, but you haven’t provided an argument. In the meantime, here is the list of the world’s ten poorest countries:
1. Zimbabwe
2. Congo
3. Burundi
4. Liberia
5. Guinea
6. Somalia
7. Central African Republic
8. Eritrea
9. Niger
10. Sierra Leone
The only thing they have in common is that until forty years ago, they were exploited and colonized by Europe. And I wouldn’t even dream of suggesting that fact has necessarily a lot to do with their current plight.
Poor guy, he’s a victim. Maybe Obama can hold a beer summit and another teaching moment. I looking forward to the midnight candle vigils near Hasan’s prison by the unshowerd left, boadcast on CNN and MSNBC and hearing them they say “teabagger”, gives me a tingle up my leg.
Yes, Joseph #149, the AP list of shootings disconcerts us and reminds us that many unhinged and violent people choose acts of carnage. Was that the purpose of the AP’s list — or of your including it here? to try to convey that, well, no worries, happens a lot; why react like the Fort Hood shooting is any different in kind?
You mean like how we’ve been programmed these past 70 years not to discriminate against anyone, not to permit ourselves to face the real world where Western Civilization is under threat by the onward march — made conveniently easy by liberal immigration laws — of a certain religious/political movement whose reason for being is to usher in a worldwide caliphate? Where to even discuss the threat is unseemly and terribly, terribly not PC?
Is that the purpose of the list? To distract us?? So we all can pretend the threat doesn’t exist? Or, maybe we should just be kind and gentle forever and forever and the threat will just go away? And if we weren’t such a big bad and mean country everybody would like us and not want to destroy our nation or our culture?
Is that the purpose of the list?
No, moho, nice try but logically invalid. This is basic logic.
Because you are ‘born into a religious filiation’ in the sense that:
[Logical Format]: IF your parent followed that religion, THEN you are enabled in following that religion, without having to make a separate choice of which religion…
does NOT mean that:
[Logical Format]: IF you do NOT follow the axioms of that religion, THEN, you still remain within the religion.
The fallacy is to assume that a religion is axiomatically empty. You are entitled, without making a choice of conversion, to be a member of the Islamic and Judaic religion, by virtue of birth. BUT,this is not an empty cloak. You must choose to follow the axioms of the faith or you are not a member of the faith.
You, as a non-practicing Muslim, can’t be a member of the faith.
Joseph and Poor Citizen: You are making a false comparison. The list you provide of individuals who are psychologically deranged and who committed these actions because of that psychoogical derangement, is not a valid comparison to a list of jihadist attacks, which were committed to fulfil a religious axiom.
There is NO comparison.
Such psychological aberrations are found within all peoples all over the world, but Islam is the only ‘religious’ ideology that actually insists that its members kill non-members.
#149 Joseph,
Do any of the mass killing sprees compiled by Julia Reed include the incantation “Allahu Okbar”? Doubtful
If not we are dealing with a similar yet very different animal.
Interesting to see those who claim amounts to defending the murderer as victim; based on the marxist balkanization of individuals into groups technique tactic. As long as that dynamic is accepted it will continue to be exploited.
April 23, 2007 Cho Seung Hui, murdered 32 people (Ms. Reed’s notice says “fatally shot”), we heard reams about his victim status.
Now this. How many times did we hear the words “tragic” and “tragedy” used to describe cold blooded murder that day and now at the end of each update? I also notice how chastened Fox News reporting was that day. The best coverage of a live event in action goes to CNN. They were among the first to report the name, (big surprise that turned out to be…)
I posted this Thursday night: “Not much in the way of details on how far this goes beyond this ‘medical’ officer. We will have to wait and see. Of what has been confirmed so far I am not surprised at what has happened. I anticipated something on our own soil. This major, Nidal Malik Hasan knew that this was probably the facility that offered the least resistance, and chose and planned it for that reason.
That makes it a coward’s attack. As are all acts of terror. Specifically so. I keep hearing the words “tragic” and “tragedy” being repeated over and over at the conclusion of the updates.
There is nothing tragic about this. By definition, tragedy involves one being the victim of ones’ own designs.
Here’s tragedy: I go swimming in the creek when its storming and flooding, throwing caution to the wind to ride the white water. I drown. My tragic death: My designs, my decisions. Not here.
I heard at one point that a police officer was present at the processing facility; he killed Nadal Malik Hasan, and was killed himself. Killed in the line of duty, to protect others from this insane killers mad bloodlust. Nothing tragic about it. He gave his life to save others and stop the killer(s). He represents our finest.
[Update: only a police officer was present and armed to begin a counter attack against this coward, and it is a woman, and she survived: took two shots to her leg and one to her hand. Brilliant performance under pressure and a job well done. imo.
Grief? yeah. Lots of it.
Rest in peace. May your families be comforted through this horror. May we know the depth of your courage, and pick up the torch again.
Let us gather our prayers for the families of the wounded and fallen soldiers in this time of grief, and grieve for and with them.
“Greater love hath no one than he/she who would give his/her life for his/her friends.”
Amen.
P.S. Cho Seueng Hui murdered 32 people on “gun free” campus. Apparently police officers were not armed to provide for a counter attack. And Cho Seung Hui is a victim, yeah right…
Campus police are the only ones with jurisdiction on college campuses around the country.
Cho Seung Hui got no resistance during the entire time he was on his murder and killing spree; he took full advantage of a situation that favored him against his victims. Never suffered any remorse for any he killed and stopped his killing. He went right on killing and was his own killer, with his own ammo just before he ran out of it.
#152 – you’re right, armies all round the world have to a greater or lesser extent strictly control weapons issue, particularly in home bases- the risk of accident alone is a concern, let alone pilferage/black market sales etc. Nothing to do with gun control as suggested by some on other threads. I wonder if that policy will change in the future – at least an increased sentry/MP presence or maybe more officers/NCOs carrying sidearms?
An article here in Australia described the gunman as “heavily armed”
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/the-mother-who-brought-down-the-fort-hood-killer/story-e6frg6so-1225795254084
Despite the tragedy of the event I had to laugh at that – two handguns is heavily armed?
The story still brought a lump to my throat though, the courage of Kimberley Munley is to be applauded – she took him on head on and stopped an even greater massacre, a credit to her training and presence of mind.
Keith MacArthur:
If a Christian or Jew went on a rampage anywhere in the ME, shooting 40 innocents and killing a dozen, the hue and cry would be far more vehement than this. The religion/ethnicity of the shooter would be (appropriately) mentioned by every reporting news agency in the world. And a considerable proportion of the muslim world would see this as further evidence of Christianity’s or Judaism’s war against Islam, as would the Left in this country.
Moho:
Your comments are sophomoric. Non-practicing muslim or otherwise, you appear to have the same problem the other 1.6 billion adherents do: a pathologic fear of denouncing one of your own, no matter how aberrant their behavior. Comparing or conflating murder with military operations is the argument, BTW, of the illiterate masses from which you apparently derive.
TLM:
You are correct. If a Christian or Jew were to do the same sort of thing thousands of wingnuts (and not just Muslim wingnuts – plenty of atheists would be blaming “religion” per se) worldwide would be calling for the blood of every Christian / Jew on the planet. And they would be just as wrong to equate that one bastard with every other person who happens to share some aspect of his religious affiliation.
—
What we have with extremism – Christian, Muslim, left-wing, right-wing, you name it – is generally either:
a) distortion of the mainstream belief system, under the mistaken belief that one is following the ‘true’ belief system and that mainstream believers are mistaken, misguided, or apostates in disguise;
OR
b) a logical extreme of the mainstream belief system, but not necessarily the only VALID interpretation of the belief system.
In both cases extremism tends to ignore huge chunks of the belief system that temper and call into question the more dangerous elements of the ideology. And an additional problem is that they lay a claim to the True Way and tend to get heard by outsiders (cos they have the loudest voices) as the most authentic voice of the given belief system.
Some posters have asked for solutions from VDH. Some posters have pointed to the apparent silence of 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide in the face of terrorism in their name. A pretty good start would be for Muslims worldwide to rise up and disown their own brand of extremist. I’ve seen it done in a quiet way here in Australia, but I’d argue the voice of the Muslim who doesn’t believe in destroying or enslaving non-believers needs to get louder and needs to be directed first at the terrorist before we next hear the ‘poor us’ line.
Tonight’s conclusion: Muslims and Islam are not to blame for Fort Hood, 9/11 etc., certain twisted practitioners of the religion are. But a good place to start on fixing the problem (other than the very necessary steps of homeland defence and proactive wars in terrorist breeding grounds) would be for mainstream Islam to work much harder at isolating and delegitimising their extremist element.
159. Darcy & 161. Gaffe Prices
My query is what is you all’s solution to the Muslim question? I sense a program in the making. Tell me that isn’t your ultimate goal. We have had witch hunts in this country before (yellow peril, the red scare, the only good Indian is a dead one, etc…). Just give me some idea of your end game here and maybe I won’t feel like I need to set up a hidden room upstairs to hide all my Muslim neighbors and an underground railroad to spirit them to safety.
By the way Darcy “no worries” sounds a little foreign to this good old boy. Are you from around here or do you just watch too much Masterpiece Theatre (British spelling)? That’s OK I’ve got nothing against the British even though we have fought a couple of wars and they did burn our capital to the ground.
“The fallacy is to assume that a religion is axiomatically empty.”
Moho is not interested in a logical argument. In fact, his purpose is to deflect any rational consideration of this event. Had the shooter been a member of a fundamentalist Christian denomination, had he shouted “Jesus Lives” as he gunned down 40 people, do you think for a moment that religious beliefs would not be the main focus of MSM reports?
Your comments are sophomoric. Non-practicing muslim or otherwise, you appear to have the same problem the other 1.6 billion adherents do: a pathologic fear of denouncing one of your own, no matter how aberrant their behavior. Comparing or conflating murder with military operations is the argument, BTW, of the illiterate masses from which you apparently derive.
What’s funny about this is that you don’t have the balls to counter any of my arguments. You may think trying to denigrate my heritage hurts or something, but brother I grew up in America, and your attempts are rather bland compared to some of the crazed wingnuttery I’ve had directed at me. Try again. In the meantime, try formulating an actual response to what I’ve argued here, if you can. Or is your only defense claiming that my religion and heritage make me wrong? Stupid.
[Logical Format]: IF your parent followed that religion, THEN you are enabled in following that religion, without having to make a separate choice of which religion…
does NOT mean that:
[Logical Format]: IF you do NOT follow the axioms of that religion, THEN, you still remain within the religion.
ETAB, I hope you keep this up, its hilarious!
157 Moho I sit and read your posts and all I can do is laugh at your ignorance, but that one takes the case. You list the ten poorest countries and hint that they are poor because of European colinization. Zimbabwe is number one. Do you know why? Until Mugabe took over, and within the past forty years, it was one of Africas most prosperous countries. It was destroyed not by Europeans, but by a black dictator who takes his peoples monies for himself while cutting his nose off to spite his face by destroying the white farmer who brought in revenue by their work. Now the blacks run things and its an utter failure just like all those other countries you listed.
If it was not for European colonization, those countries would have no infrastructure and would be living in huts or at best like they do in Somalia now.
You have to learn to walk before you can run and whitey taught them to walk. They still are no closer to running and never will be because of many reasons that have nothing to do with white people and european colinization.
Typical liberal and muslim. You blame others for your own failings and want to destroy systems that you cant create under your own society which hates success and women. The sad thing is you have convinced too many people in my country that such approach is admirable. Part of the plan to destroy all non muslims. I see it.
A secondary travesty re MAJ Hasan involves his reported actions as a Walter Reed psychiatrist. While treating combat vets returning from Iraq/Afghanistan he apparently argued his political/religious beliefs with them. In other words, he argued Islam with our heroic wounded soldiers who were under his care. If true this would constitute an ethical violation on his part, as the same behavior would for any physician.
Why didn’t the Army fire him back then? Likely, the psychiatry Dept at WRAMC is as infected with the PC virus as is half the country.
Furthermore, it doesn’t speak well for the professional competency of the other Walter Reed psychiatrists, who knew and worked closely with Hasan, that they failed to identify a lunatic bent on violence.
As a physician who trained at Walter Reed I’m flabbergasted.
#157: Yes, the ten poorest countries are indeed in Africa. But of course in your twisted view their sorry state is NOT of their own making; as in their home-grown kleptocratic regimes, tribalism, civil war or plunges into Marxist economic planning. Yes, the white man made them do it.
Never mentioned of course are countries like India, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc that lived under colonial rule for much longer than any of those in Africa, yet have managed not to end up at the bottom of the economic ladder. How can that be?
all religions are the same, it is just the way they are used that counts, the good is good and the bad is bad, and the cultural liberalizing development of political islam is about 500 years behind the Christians/Jewish, whom still have plenty of terrorists, and ideology extremist orginalists fundamentalists (mcviegh, unabomber, anti-gay, anti-abortionists) who put everything in their own subjective understanding that they consider literal and factual and final, rather than it being their opinionated interpenetration, all beckon back to some mythological golden period supposedly better than today and none are called out by the majority of Christians enough either. the problem of political cultural development, and growth is how it can be truncated or retarded within and from outside a society.
Essential vdh
Based on some of the comments–the only thing that can be said is not only have we lost most of our ability to discriminate we have lost our ability to think.
Thank you Union Educators—and left wing embeds on collage campuses– tools of the Utopian subversives, aka communists in the early 1900′s.
It is an interesting phenominum to look at the way rationalization and projection takes over when AA and PC commenter’s (brain dead) are justifying the inability of everyday people to take rational actions needed for basic self protection.
Self protection of Americans that need it, the non victims, the real Americans, people who build America not take from it, the men and women who volunteer to protect others, not just themselves but the protectors of America.
The left wing Utopian thinkers other wise known as subversive anti American nut jobs attribute to others their own lack of awareness proven by their comments. They function and are like Judas goats for most of America.
If a spotted dog was raiding the farmers hen house and killing hens, based on the logic in some of these comments the farmer would not be able to go after any dog no matter what color simply because he might not get the spotted dog but the black or white or brown dog.
Based on the nut job comments, the Farmer who is losing his chickens and lively hood cannot even isolate all of the areas spotted dogs, not killing any but to protect the hens. And also protect the not guilty spotted dogs that may be in the area. He could then sort it out while not losing his hens. As a farmer he also understands dogs.
Our fore fathers were much smarter than we are now and they did not weigh themselves down with idiot musings from the indoctrinated thus Anti American American subversives. Cultists indoctrinated by Utopian (communist) subversives who were simply bent on defeating America. How? By making Americans incapable of acting as needed to defend themselves. By making them surrender like cult members their rational minds. Academics were especially susceptible and were the biggest traitors, for money. Whoa! For Money? Unbelievable for do gooders.
The Utopian subversive language of revolution, death and destruction was designed by Lenin and Marx to Create out of the minds of freedom loving people mush, and soft feel good psychotic thinking while all about them are getting killed especially if they owned “property”—so also will they– eventually.
This is what happens in a communist takeover. The people like the commenters are taken over simply because they are not smart enough to know they have been defeated by their weak minded submission to self destructive thinking. They are blank stare humans, victims being held in a trance by a perfumed scorpion, so only the Utopian language of subversion is needed to take down current America. You hear it every day from the BHO’s and the MSM.
Some of the commenters should give people a little credit for being able to discriminate and at least act as needed to save lives and destroy our enemies.
Wait!? I forgot, This is a dream, we really don’t have enemies, just lack of understanding on our part. And we have been BAD! We deserve this!.
Also we are no longer responsible individuals we are groups of victims that cannot think for ourselves but need the BHOs to take from us our individual god give rights so they can take care of us. How is this working out for us? So far. The MSM says the pain is almost over.
Just one more zombie joining the cult.
Moho:
Plenty of rebuttal to your arguments on this site. No need to add mine. As I said above, you’re not interested in the argument anyway, merely to flog your memes for all their worth.
>>In 2002, long ago, I wrote an article in which I called this al Qaedism and updated it with more recent examples in 2007.
From where does Al Qaeda derive its ideology? Are their calls for jihad against non-Muslims contrary to the command of Allah and the example of Muhammad, or not?
This is the “angle” no one wants to explore or admit:
“the Messenger of Allah . . . would say: ‘Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war. . . . When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. . . . Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. . . . If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them . . .’” (Muslim Book 19, Number 4294).
“fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war) . . . ” (Qur’an 9:5).
“Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” (Qur’an 9:29).
“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter . . . ” (Qur’an 5:33). [Ibn Kathir says of this verse: "'Wage war' mentioned here means, oppose and contradict, and it includes disbelief, blocking roads and spreading fear in the fairways. Mischief in the land refers to various types of evil." So, Muhammad requires execution, crucifixion, or cutting off hands and feet from opposite sides for "disbelief."]
“Allah’s Apostle said: ‘I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah’s Apostle . . . ‘” (Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 24).
“It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land. Ye desire the lure of this world and Allah desireth (for you) the Hereafter, and Allah is Mighty, Wise” (Qur’an 8:67).
“Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been made victorious with terror’” (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220).
“Allah’s Apostle was asked, ‘What is the best deed?’ He replied, ‘To believe in Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad).’ The questioner then asked, ‘What is the next (in goodness)?’ He replied, ‘To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah’s Cause.’ The questioner again asked, ‘What is the next (in goodness)?’ He replied, ‘To perform Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). . .’” (Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 25).
“Say to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them). And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone (in the whole of the world). But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do” (Qur’an 8:38; ayah 39 from Noble Qur’an).
Clueless Steve,
>>I’m not diminishing the threat of aggressive Islam, however we need to keep our minds clear when these things happen. Last night I read a comment on a well-known conservative site that all Muslims globally should be exterminated, and that they were lower forms of life than vermin. The comment was not deleted or even challenged. This is outright evil . . . .
Jihad is “outright evil,” and your obfuscation for it is too.
Your ignorance of Islam’s “sacred” texts and history preclude you from having a “clear mind.”
Since Muhammad and his allah require, “kill the pagans wherever you find them . . . Fight against . . . the People of the Book [Jews and Christians] until they feel themselves subdued and pay the jizya [a poll tax, part of the oppressive and vile dhimmi system] . . . Paradise [belongs to] those who kill and are killed for Allah” (Qur’an 9), what exactly is the difference between “aggressive Islam” and Islam?
At this point, we can defend ourselves against jihad using far less violence than that suggested in your example, but that’s not the problem.
You don’t think there is an issue with all those “integrated” Muslims like . . . Hasan.
When will you realize that every person who believes Qur’an to be the words of Allah, every Muslim who considers Muhammad’s example to be Allah-pleasing, is an agent (or potential agent) of jihad?
#168 Joseph, Key individuals in the Army and the FBI have got some splainin’ to do as they knew well before the act and the fact where this character was headed and where he was going to end up. No doubt documents are being shredded at this time to CYAs those linked to this miscarriage of responsibility.
If we posit for the sake of argument, and in the abstract, that Islam plays no role in this attack, then we must ask as to why this perfunctory non sequitur that “muslims fear backlash” is elevated to top priority unless the Protocols of Political Correctness dictate the syllogism that A) Islam is a victims group, and B) Since Islam is a victims group, they must be the victim of… what or whoexactly? Therefore C) The military is to blame for victimizing Nadal Hasan to the point where it was they who pushed him to this unfortunate, dastardly, “tragic” attack?
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein
Politically correct ‘diversity’ is not only a failure, but a catastrophe as well.
Do you see where this all leads? And remember- (despite any conventional wisdom to the contrary) -In the realm of Political Correctness- Some victims groups are more equal than others.
And since Islam names but one victims group, namely the followers of mohammad, they will exploit the distinctly “western” practice of “political correctness” for all it is worth, and to the exclusion of all other “recognised” co-called (politically correct) victims groups.
There is not, and never is, any “backlash against muslims”. And even CAIR knows this, but won’t relinquish any opportunity to admonish us with the undocumented “fact” they peddle, namely that it is “muslims [who] fear backlash”.
Yes, “muslims fear backlash”, within 15 minutes after a muslim (who was known to the military inteligence services and the FBI for his ties to Mohamnmad Atta’s Imam, and who made contact with al Kaeeda), I say 15 minutes after word reaches us that a muslim slaughters 13 unarmed personnel in a pre-planned attack at a deployment facility.
This, quite frankly is insanity. Do “muslims fear backlash” after muslim men (and sometimes women too) murder and/or slaughter their sisters/daughters in “honor killings”? They damn well should, but they don’t, now do they? Others in the muslim community come to their aid and help them evade justice and flee the country.
The murder of girls and young women in our own hemisphere goes relatively unnoticed (although exhaustively reported on and defined for what it is, by PJM”s own Phylis Chesler- murder and slaughter), and has reached the point where the media deliberately and with malice aforethought misrepresents the work of Ms. Chesler.

And by inference, promote its paranoia that a noted feminist and professor, according to CNN’s portrayal, must surely support a “right wing” agenda, because she is at any variance with their own.
Chesler is the only feminist to devote her energies to exposing and fighting ‘tolerence’ in the media (and elsewhere in the Left’s agenda) of tolerance for muslim “honor killings”, i.e. the murders, execution style of girls and young women.
Look at the logical fallacies of logic on this thread used to defend the generality “muslims” by leftist trolls on this thread with absolute moronic and nihilist zeal.
And you imagine that because the only ones who are dead from this rampage are not moslems, somehow it is moslems who are the ones who should fear for their lives and therefore go into hiding?
Another agenda is manipulating your imagination and got it doing its bidding. You have not dared to question whether or not the political habit or practice of political correctness deserves your or our reproach or approbation, and contemplated what steps must be taken to 1) place blame where it rightly belongs and 2) asked “what further steps must be taken to eradicate this scourge, this deadly cancer of political correct behaviors and prohibitions”?
The very evidence is right in front of you, so what are you going to do, continue paying the indulgences of, and engaging in the pieties of political correctness because that is your highest priority? Or will you abandon first your vanity, and then your addiction to politically correct strictures?
I, for one, think you are better than that, and I think you can do it.
#168, Joseph,
P.S. this is not and never has been about moslems or submission to the will of ollie.
It’s about the vile foriegn pathogen of Frankfurt School ‘political correctness’.
Have a nice day.
