Fictions as Truth

For the Obama administration narrative to be accurate about the swap of five Taliban/al-Qaeda-related kingpins for Sgt. Bergdahl, we are asked to believe the following:

1. Sgt. Bergdahl was in ill health; thus the need for alacrity. Surely we will expect to see him in an enfeebled state on his return to the U.S.

2. Sgt. Bergdahl was in grave and sudden danger from his captors; thus the need for alacrity. We expect to see proof of that on his return to the U.S.

3. The five Taliban detainees will be under guard in Qatar for a year. We expect in June 2015 to know that they are still there in Qatar.

4. The five Taliban detainees don’t really pose a grave threat to U.S. troops, given that we will be gone from Afghanistan in 2016. We expect not to hear that any of the five are reengaged in the war effort to kill Americans between 2015-16.

5. Sgt. Bergdahl served with “honor and distinction.” We expect to have confirmation of that fact once his intelligence file is released and more evidence is adduced that all of his platoon-mates were wrong (or perhaps vindictive and partisan) in stating that he voluntarily left their unit — deserted — to meet up with the Taliban.

6. Sgt. Bergdahl was captured on the “field of battle”; we expect to have confirmation that he was taken unwillingly by the enemy amid a clash of arms.

7. Sgt. Bergdahl was not a collaborator. We expect to learn confirmation of the fact that he did not disclose information to his captors.

8. Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers in his platoon are either partisan operatives or sorely misinformed, and we will shortly learn that their accounts of Bergdahl’s disappearance were erroneous.

9. The U.S. has traditionally negotiated to bring home even deserters, and did so frequently, for example, both during and after the Korean War when GIs crossed into North Korea.

10. The timing of the swap amid the VA scandal and the press conference with the Bergdahl family were not predicated on political considerations.

11. There is no law stopping the president from releasing terrorists from Guantanamo, only legal fictions promulgated by right-wing critics of the president.

12. The five Taliban terrorists are now old outliers, rusty, and mostly irrelevant to the war in Afghanistan.

I used to wonder how Germany became a totalitarian state prior to WWII. William L. Shirer pointed out how the take over of the media enabled the Nazi's to overwhelm their opposition. The difference today is there is no need for strong armed takeover.

Perhaps the most sickening aspect of it all is the efforts and collaborative willingness of the media to bury, then re-invent the "truth" so as to keep this administration looking good.

Avoiding embarrassment for the second black president appears to be paramount in order to fulfill the prophecy that "blacks are every bit as smart as those evil, imperialist white dudes" (especially when implementing the required socialism to save the world).

Yet, it's become so routine as to prove a Soviet-style platform and methodology; the kind we used to make fun of in the 1970's and 80's about how the Russians used to tell their own citizens about how great everything was and how perfect their leaders were.

For us though, it's a repeat of the fall of Rome, although Rome was certainly a heavily corrupt autocracy by the time the serious and heavy unraveling occurred and the dark ages descended upon Europe.

But stop and think about what's happening where in our society, information and even basic education have been usurped to espouse the poltically-correct, squeaky-clean "versions" of the truth.

So bad that they wish to turn Bergdahl into a CMH candidate and may very likely do it. All in the name of covering their behinds to make the results fit their fabricated tales.

I work in a company that has a leadership base that is very similar to this administration which causes me, again, to think it's both generational and institutionalized in its implementation and usage. Keep the lower-downs ignorant, blind to the facts so that they are only concerned with their functionary task(s), be it their day-to-day jobs or belief in the government system, so that they will think they are happy because their "leaders" told them they were.

This ridiculous methodology never works. It's the old Russian joke from the reporter who came across several factory workers just sitting around in Gdansk in the 70's. When he asked what they were doing when it was a normal workday, they responded, "The government, it pretends to pay us and we.....well....we pretend to work."

This current fetid swamp of lying liars who lie has to go. If not by one means then by another.

We are getting the full measure of Brothel Government. We get lied to, everything is under the covers, we pay too much for the experience and what we get...may have consequences we never bargained for.

There's nobody telling anybody any truth in a brothel. When a Republican holds office the media act as the Vice Squad. In this administration they are just down the hall with their legs in the air.

There is no truth in a brothel. But in Obama's second term we are going to learn the meaning of flexibility.

And it's not just Obama. How in the world did the Democrats get everyone to think that Bill Clinton is a hero, and to make the matter completely unbelievable, in the same year that they (successfully?) accused their opponents of a War on Women? And everyone in the world thinks it's about the intern?

And in the year when everyone is talking about the NSA, Hillary is considered viable, and no-one even mentions Filegate?

Real life is far more sensational and far more censored than political speech. For examples, see Melville's PIERRE (1852). Or my blog http://clarespark.com/2011/06/12/call-me-isabel-a-reflection-on-lying/.

Re: #5 -

How much you wanna bet that any request to see the Army intelligence file on Bergdahl will be met with the same stone wall we've encountered during Benghazi, the IRS debacle, Fast and Furious, etc?

Fully agree with your thoughts on MSM. It is useful to view MSM as more than just highly effective enablers of the Statist agenda. In fact, MSM is Statism's CENTER OF GRAVITY. Lefty politicians come and go (Obama today, Hillary tomorrow), but MSM marches relentlessly forward with the Statist narrative. Our side cannot advance until we understand where to focus our efforts.

"When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movement becomes headlong - faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it's too late."
- Bene Gesserit proverb, Dune (Frank Herbert)

The Progressive secular religion is nearing the edge of an economic precipice;
All their lies will not help them after the US and the world fall over the edge,
and all the money they spend on redistributionist bribes and balm goes away.

This is because liberals have infected the entire culture with the nonsense that there's no such thing as objective truth (except for that statement, of course!), that "everyone has their own truth" and that whatever you choose to believe is "true for you".

it is really nice to see these events put into an easy to read chart of the problems and what has to be beleived in order to accept B.O. versions.

Hillary would say you just need 'suspend your disbelief' to see past those 'scandals' - then you'd see how unimportant they are. At this moment in time 'what difference does it make'?

There isn't a 'smidgen of corruption' in any of those scandals - so sayeth the Prez.
