Dear Mr. Hanson,

I read with interest your article "Our Historically Challenged President", and applaud your taking our president to task!

You are absolutely correct in your statement of the United States imposing democracies on other countries after WWII, but error in implying that our own government is a democracy when it is actually a Constitutional Republic. Our founding fathers abhorred democracies as "mob rule". It is unfortunate their historical efforts in founding our Constitutional Republic have been distorted by many of politicians and news media who prefer to have us believe (although incorrectly) that America is a democracy. This misconception/distortion has led our nation to become what it is today, an increasingly socialistic country where the free market no longer exists, and Constitutional rights are largely ignored and trampled upon. It is a folly that as a Constitutional Repubic we impose democracy (mob rule) on other nations.

Churchill`s bust is gone and Obama`s is splitting apart before it is even sculpted (a good Zen thing to contemplate). I say pour more water in the fissures and turn down the temperature to ice-age (yikes!Global Cooling!). The following of the six points discussed in this piece are greatly mistaken in my view (to be fair):

[...] Oh, I know that President Obama’s approval ratings are still around 62%. But I also remember that George Bush’s at the end of 2001 got even higher — and stayed at or above 60% through most of 2002, explaining why he increased his congressional majority in the midterm elections. Nevertheless, I think we are beginning — after less than four months — to see fissures in Obama’s Pentelic statuary. And the cracks will widen, because in about six areas he has taken on human nature itself, age-old logic, and common sense-opponents that even a Harvard Law degree and Chicago organizing are no match for. -Victor David Hanson [...]

Clinton wasn’t stupid enough to start a wasteful war and it wasn’t the proper moment.

He was just too busy getting BJs to care about Al Quaeda or about bad guys getting nukes be they Irak, Pakistan (who got nukes under his watch) or North Korea (who got nukes thanks to a treaty signed under his watch). Don't forget tp praise him the day your children glow in the dark.
