The U.S. Army Is Training Female Soldiers to Shower with Transgenders

I think I’d rather see them teach women how to kill. But then, I’m just an old fuddy duddy with old-fashioned notions of the purposes of having an Army in the first place.

Nowadays, the U.S. Army is a social experiment run amok. Perhaps we’ll teach female soldiers how to disarm the enemy using patience, understanding, and a respect for their point of view.

So the Army is now instructing female service members on how to behave when a transgender female walks into a shower with his thingy swinging around. The advice they give is, well, you read it and please don’t put your fist through a wall.

The pro-transgender lesson then offers the following two points among six “Considerations and Responsibilities” required of Army personnel in such cases:

1-Understand that you may encounter individuals in barracks, bathrooms, or shower facilities with physical characteristics of the opposite sex despite having the same gender marker in DEERS.

2-All Soldiers should be respectful of the privacy and modesty concerns of others. However, transgender Soldiers are not required or expected to modify or adjust their behavior based on the fact that they do not “match” other Soldiers.

James Hassan of The Federalist broke this story a few days ago. I’m sorry I missed it because there are so many things wrong with this policy that need to be pointed out.

Veteran Jazz Shaw makes some salient points:

More to the point, this training material highlights some of the basic facts about military life which make accommodating these situations even more complicated than out in the civilian world. In public places of business, government offices or even schools there tends to be more room for construction and alterations. This is useful if a compromise must be reached for certain individuals to have single user, non-gender specific facilities made available to them. That’s less often the case in military barracks and particularly in mobile units and naval vessels. Women in such circumstances who would prefer not to share the shower with someone with a penis are left with few options other than abandoning their military career and attempting to get out of the service.

And finally, this is yet another example of the government abandoning any dedication to science and facts while bending to pressures from social justice activists. There has yet to be one iota of repeatable scientific data presented which indicates that a person born with the normal complement of either X-X or X-Y chromosomes in their 23rd pair can be proven to be other than their natural gender. Out in the civilian world we have the free speech based option to simply let everyone define themselves as they wish as long as they aren’t infringing on the privacy and rights of others who feel differently. Not so in the military. This is just a problem waiting to happen and it’s only a matter of time.

Will these accommodations make the U.S. Army a better fighting force? Will they make it worse? It seems to me that the brass, in their eagerness to curry favor with the New York Times and the Washington Post, forgot to ask those basic questions. For if the Army is to be more than a defense force — for instance, a laboratory for the social sciences — I don’t think we should be spending 700 fricking billion dollars to fund them.

And Jazz is 100 percent correct about the dearth of any scientific evidence proving that transgenderism (“gender dysphoria”) is anything but an incredibly rare condition not genetically linked. The estimates I’ve seen on how many actual transgendered people there are range from 1 or 2 per 100,000 live births.

And yet about 1.4 million Americans “identify” as transgender. Clearly, there is a disconnect between the science and the culture.

I am not saying transgenders shouldn’t be allowed to serve. If they can fight, let them in. But to expect the entire rest of the military to adjust their own preferences, their own morality, their own sensitivities so as not to “offend” a transgender who gets stared at because he chooses to dress like a woman with the equipment of a man is a bridge too far.
