Republican hopeful Pat McCrory now posts a double-digit lead over Democrat Walter Dalton in the race to be North Carolina’s next governor.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely North Carolina Voters shows McCrory earning 49% support to Dalton’s 35%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, while a sizable 12% remain undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The Republican party took the NC legislature in 2010 and has since seen vetoes by Perdue the current dem governor on popular measures like voter ID. She’s also evidently not very smart, embroiled in corruption, floats ideas like ‘suspending the 2012 elections’; even the local democrats dislike her. Dalton won a hotly contested primary, which was a mistake for the dems because he’s too close to Perdue not to have the stench of her sorry administration all over him.
Pat McCrory was narrowly defeated last time with heavy dem turnout for Obama, that won’t be happening this time either. McCrory was a popular and successful mayor in Charlotte and a genuinely likeable guy. No surprises in this poll. McCrory should win it walking away.
