Poor Little Barry, Unhappy Even in Victory

Even when he wins, his nose is out of joint:

President Obama was shocked and irritated by Mitt Romney’s concession call in the 2012 presidential election — and claimed Romney insinuated that Obama won only by getting out the black vote, according to a new book by presidential campaign strategist David Axelrod.

Obama was “unsmiling during the call, and slightly irritated when it was over,” Axelrod writes. The president hung up and said Romney admitted he was surprised at his own loss, Axelrod wrote.

“‘You really did a great job of getting the vote out in places like Cleveland and Milwaukee,’ in other words, black people,'” Obama said, paraphrasing Romney. “That’s what he thinks this was all about.”

Of course, that happens to be true. Obama won the black vote 93-6, while losing the white vote 39-59.

Jake Lingle‘s memoir comes out later this month. More horrifying tidbits:

* Shortly after winning the Democratic primary in 2008, Obama briefly considered appointing Hillary Clinton to the Supreme Court.

* Former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel was uncomfortable with senior advisor Valerie Jarrett, because of her close personal relationship with the Obamas. “‘I don’t want to manage the president’s best friend,” Emanuel said. To get rid of her, he campaigned for Jarrett to run for Obama’s Senate seat. But Obama wanted her in the White House and convinced her to abandon the idea.

* Axelrod claims Bill Clinton offered him the job of communications director on his first presidential campaign in 1992. The job went to George Stephanopoulos after he turned it down.

Ironically, it was Stephanopoulos who helped torpedo Romney with his left-field contraception question during the debates, start the “war on women” meme for his DNC masters, and thus pave the way for Obama’s re-election. So it all worked out just great.

Think Hillary, who won’t run in 2016 and would lose anyway, wishes she had that Supreme Court seat right about now? In place of, say, this lady:

Wake me when it's over

Wake me when it’s over
