This news is unlikely to stop liberals from using the deadly crash to blackmail us into handing the government more of our money.
Veteran engineer William Rockefeller all but admitted he was falling asleep as the train came roaring to a curved section of track north of Spuyten Duyvil in statements made shortly after four people were killed and dozens were injured in the wreck, sources said.
He apparently woke up just as the train, traveling at 82 mph, was heading into a precarious curve that called for the train’s speed to be reduced to just 30 mph.
As the train entered the curve, sources said, Rockefeller was jolted from his sleep and hit the brake, but not in time. The cars derailed, and several careened onto their sides before grinding to a halt on the edge of the Harlem River. Four people were killed, three of whom were thrown out of the cars, and more than 60 others were injured.
So, human error, not any lack of government spending, caused this crash. Up to now the engineer had a spotless record, so there was no indication that this was coming.
Democrat Ed Rendell led the left’s creep brigades after the crash, using the tragedy to demand more taxpayer dollars be spent on “infrastructure.” If he had any shame, he would apologize and slink away. But being a leftist, shame just isn’t something he believes in. Democrats never slink away no matter what the facts say.
This tendency of liberals to exploit every single unfortunate incident, accident and tragedy is among the reasons I could never support them. They’re constantly perched and waiting for any means they can use to guilt or shame the rest of us into handing them either power or property. Democrats have become equal parts con artists and vampires, stalking the rest of us, always ready to use chaos and often intentionally causing chaos as President Obama has with Obamacare, always with a mind toward using the crisis to enrich themselves at our expense.
Frankly, I find the lot of them repulsive, amoral, dishonest, devious, cowardly, disloyal to anything but their own interests, and shameless.
