Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst’s campaign has launched its first TV ad of the 2014 contest. The ad showcases Dewhurst explaining Texas’ record of cutting taxes and creating jobs in a downhome setting. He also calls on President Obama and Congress to take a look at how Texas has built its economy over the past 10 years — years during which Dewhurst has held Texas’ lieutenant governorship and Republicans have led the entire state government.

Take a look.

Dewhurst is locked in a four-way battle for the office on the Republican side. Democrat state Sen. Leticia Van De Putte has also announced her run on the Democratic side, but no Democrat has won any statewide office in Texas in a generation. The winner of the GOP primary is very likely to go on to win the general election. Polls currently show Dewhurst leading the pack by double digits.

PJTV interviewed the lieutenant governor a few months back.

The primary is set for March 4, 2014.

Anyone else think it's funny every time he runs some "Tea Party" thing emulating the campaign that Cruz beat him with?

Douchehurst lost, was boo'ed in conventions, etc. This man has 'crony capitalist' tattoo'ed on his forehead. Cruz kicked his butt for a reason: Everything you'd hate about a slimy politician (and would associate with Chicago political machine antics) is true for this guy.

I can't help remembering the truly appalling andd scurrilous ads that Dewhurst supporters (I think they may have been the Texas Trial lawyers in disguise) ran against Ted Cruz. I will never support this man again.

Can Ted Cruz clone himself and run for governor as well?
