Axelrod: ObamaCare Will Be 'Our Proudest Accomplishment'

Appearing on bottom-feeder MSNBC today, Obama adviser David Axelrod made a bold statement regarding the president’s signature legislation.

David Axelrod said Wednesday that he was “not concerned” about a delay in implementing a key provision of the president’s healthcare reform law, arguing that history would validate the legislation as successful.

“We tend to judge these things along the way,” Axelrod, a former White House senior adviser and the architect of the president’s campaign, said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “Every day in Washington’s Election Day. We tend to judge these things on the basis of what’s happening at that moment.

Axelrod said that President Obama’s “view is that we ought to plow forward, make sure this can work, and we’re going to look back at it and it’s going to be our proudest accomplishment.”

As has been said on Twitter after yesterday’s delay in the ObamaCare employer mandate, that law was so popular it had to be passed in the dead of night and delayed past two elections. It’s such a great accomplishment that it has never managed to get majority support. It’s such a great accomplishment it’s killing hiring across the weak economy. It’s such a great accomplishment, the Obama regime has lawlessly delayed it past next year’s mid-term elections to give Democrats a chance of hanging onto the Senate. They didn’t want the optics of their grand accomplishment causing layoffs and disruptions in an election year.

Then again, Obama’s other accomplishments include abandoning his ambassador to Libya to die in an attack that he dishonestly blamed on a movie, setting racial relations back several years, having his IRS suppress political dissent, losing Egypt to Islamists, arming Islamists in Syria, throwing the victory in Iraq away, and being thoroughly beclowned by Vladimir Putin in the Snowden affair. So I can see Axelrod’s point. Compared to the rest of Obama’s legacy, yeah, ObamaCare does look like an “accomplishment.”
