Recess in Washington means CODEL time, when congressional delegations slip out of the country for adventures great and small.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), one could say, made a gutsy call with his trip.

Both McCain’s office and the State Department confirmed that McCain slipped into Syria from Turkey for several hours, meeting with leaders of Free Syrian Army units that assembled there solely for the senator’s visit, the Daily Beast first reported.

McCain and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, on Saturday attended the the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa 2013 in Dead Sea, Jordan.

The Arizona Republican tweeted more from his trip.

John McCain: Never Met A Country He Didn't Want To Invade!

Now *that* would have been an accurate slogan for his pathetic 2008 presidential campaign. McCain is long past his sell-by date. With the horrendous Obama cuts to defense, our military will do well just to take care of our vital interests around the world, and Syria isn't even close to being "vital" to U.S. interests. No thanks, John, try selling your war-mongering to a country that hasn't been bled dry for the past 12 years in Afghanistan and Iraq to bring "democracy and freedom" to people who vehemently don't want either.

What did he do? Plot to transport 1 million Syrian refugees here if Turkey allows us to put up a military base? Screw McCain. Retire already.

----- "McCain and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.)"

Did something "gutsy"? Like what? A panty raid? Menendez is a pedophile predator and McCain is a RINO par excellence. Was Barry in the situation room when this was all going down? Maybe they lured him in with burgers and ciggies? Has anyone told Lindsey about this? And how about Chuck Hagel? Were the Israelis informed? I gotta tell ya, maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that Obama won in 2008. McCain would have us throwing away thousands of U.S.-troop lives in Darfur by now. To HELL with Syria. And to hell with all of the Sand Land dictatorships. Let THEM fight these wars. Let Muslim butcher Muslim. We were absolutely right to take down the Afghani Taliban and Saddam's Iraq, and we should have thrown in the Iranian Mullahs to boot. Where we went wrong was in believing that we could make free men out of Arabs, Persians, and Pakis. They don't WANT Individual Freedom. They want their own traditions and their own social orders. They want Sharia. They want individual submission, not individual liberty. And that's fine. Let them have that. But that's not good enough for them. They want ALL of humankind to fall under the Muslim yoke. We cannot save these people. We cannot bend these people. Hell, we can't even save ourselves from the decadent, multi-culti, PC, ethnocidal forces of our own elite classes.

I just pray that there are enough patriotic, self-possessed, Americans out there to rise to the occasion. Because we have very few friends out there, in the West, that we can rely on. And we have a duly-elected administration, right here at home, that literally BOWS to our nemeses.

John McCain and Robert Menendez, et al., are not going to protect or save us from the foreign, naked, merciless onslaught that rises before us.

We cannot run. We cannot hide. And we cannot defend ourselves from ALL of the weapons that our enemies have patiently and studiously planted among us as we have slept -- yes, even in the aftermath of 9/11.

"We will never forget!" ... we proclaimed back then. What we should have said, however, is that "We will never rest secure" -- because we remain, as a free and open society, of as great an existential threat as we did on 9/10 and 9/12.

Jihadis loathe America even more (indeed, far more) than our own Elite in schools, colleges, universities, newsrooms, Hollywood production offices, D.C. pubs and eateries, etc., etc., etc., across our vast country. They are coming for us. Make no mistake.

So let us remember the heroes this Memorial Day. The tens and hundreds of thousands of Americans who fought and died for the precious ideal of America: Freedom. Liberty. Individual respect, honor, and unalienable God-Given rights. Something the World had never seen before.

Indeed he does, David.

What a contrast to George Washington, who refused to be King, and set our "two term" tradition into place for the Presidency!

Given the same opportunity, McCain would have gladly (and speedily) granted us the favor of condescending to be our King.

The good news is, though McCain doesn't have Washington's character, neither does he have Washington's ability to lead!

Gusty? I seem to remember some degree of outrage when Nancy Pelosi took it on herself to travel the world and engage in foreign policy issues. Seems we thought that was the President's job, and the Speaker of the House should respect the Constitutional separation of powers.

Well, it's STILL the President's job, which means, it's NOT a Senator's job.

That's true whether we like the President or not.

So now The Maverick is channeling Jane Fonda. Does that only unimprisoned Keating Fiver not realize that he was meeting with Al Qaeda, Hezbollah and others who have sworn America is to be destroyed?

Furthermore, McCain put the pilots and his bodyguards in danger pulling this stunt, not to mention the lives of whatever rescue force was sent in to recover him.

"This amounts to a kind of Khamenei Doctrine, in memory of the Brezhnev Doctrine. For those too young to remember, Brezhnev said this in November 1968 in Poland: “The weakening of any of the links in the world system of socialism directly affects all the socialist countries, which cannot look indifferently upon this.”

This was stated three months after the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, and the meaning was clear: No one leaves the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet camp. Today, substitute Shia for Soviet—and the Khamenei Doctrine holds that a country that is part of the Iranian security system, what King Abdullah of Jordan once called the Shia Crescent, will be kept in that system. At all costs. That is what winning means for Iran.

Are we going to accept that—coming now not from a global superpower with a gigantic nuclear arsenal, but from a Third World country of 75 million?"

So, McCain "sneaks into" aka "illegally" crosses Syria's border.

Well that certainly helps explain his cavalier attitude toward those who illegally "sneak into" OUR country.

What a vainglorious and pompous dickweed.

Prince McCain of POW fame went to Syria as a republican trying to pull Obama's hot chestnuts out of a fire that Al Quaeda keeps fanning with American Arms (LIBYIA -Benghazi left overs maybe?) with or without cases of beer fromhis spouse's brewery and scrathng himself by sitting next to Rep Menendez of call-girl Domincan crime fame (still out of jail?) while visiting Syrian "rebels"?" for unknown reasons bjut provoking the Russians to send in missles to THEIR ally Syria and causing Israel to threaten more bombings....This Bull...T has to stop. Now I know why the Vietnamese called him Prince in Hanoi.......he is out of it! or so it would appear.

Just who in the world 'authorized' John McCain to enter Syria to meet
with rebel leaders? The U.S. of course should have no involvement in Syria.
Let them fight it out among themselves.
