Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), one could say, made a gutsy call with his trip.
Both McCain’s office and the State Department confirmed that McCain slipped into Syria from Turkey for several hours, meeting with leaders of Free Syrian Army units that assembled there solely for the senator’s visit, the Daily Beast first reported.
McCain and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, on Saturday attended the the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa 2013 in Dead Sea, Jordan.
