Obama Observed Boston Moment of Silence All By Himself. Well, If You Don't Count the Photographer.

This is just…odd.

Tuesday morning, a peculiar announcement trickled out of the White House press office: President Barack Obama would be holding a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston bombings. At the White House. By himself. No press or other intruders allowed.

Except the White House photographer.

It’s true. Here’s the photo, which the White House released into the wild on Tuesday.

Who turns a moment of silence, which is supposed to be about honoring the fallen and wounded, into a posed solo photo-op? That’s clearly what this is. This photo obviously, almost aggressively, makes the moment about Barack Obama and not the Boston victims.

This is hubris taken to a toxic level. Honestly, it makes my skin crawl a little bit.
