Hollywood lefties today emulate the weeping Venezuleans over the death of dictator Hugo Chavez.  Sean Penn salutes him as a “champion” of poor people and Oliver Stone calls him “a great hero.”

Knowing Chavez’s record, it is not surprising that he is saluted by leftist Hollywood.  He is their fondest dream, the dictator that Woody Allen wanted Obama to become until the president’s policies were firmly in place.  They call George W. Bush “a fascist”– Chavez goes them one better by likening him to Satan.  They want the “fairness doctrine”– Chavez put their secret wishes into policy by forcing opposition broadcasters (Venezuela’s equivalent of alternative media) off the air.  They denounce the United States as “imperialist” in much the same manner as Chavez.  They attack the “fetish” of those who apply the US Constitution against opponents — he rewrites his the first day in office.

And best of all, he did this as the progressive one-percenter like Michael Moore.  Experts today have discovered that he amassed a private fortune of $2 billion, and we all know how much Hollywood lefties make.

Ron Capshaw's work has appeared in The Weekly Standard, National Review, The Washington Times, and the New York Post.

On a separate note: Obamacare and "Death Panels!"
TLC TV, Tuesday 3/5/2013 ran a special on extreme surgery's from around the world. One such example was Mr. Hai Ngyuen of LaDat community in remote hills of Vietnam. He lived some 4hours (or so) north from Ho Chi Minh City. He had no health insurance, nor was eligible for one. His condition (a 200 lb. tumor) was treated by local medical staff and a witch doctor. His condition steadily worsened. Desperate, his community posted a web page seeking donations, help and suggestions. A Dr. McKinnon, Chicago's Medical Center, answered his call interviewing him by video and online conferencing, determining Mr. Hai's condition as "life or death." A 30 hour flight later, to Vietnam, and visit with Mr. Hai determined his removal from La Dat to Ho Chi Minh City's public hopsital.
Dr. McKinnon, saw first hand, families in corridors, caring for thier loved ones in rooms 12 patients deep. After almost three weeks of meetings, trying to schedule operating room times, permission to have staffed the operation, equipment, et al. Only a top Director (and his panel of 11 doctors) could authroize such a procedure...didn't go so well! Dr. MKinnon was told Mr. Hai would have to die...take him away, to LaDat, for him to die in peace. This story had a happy ending, a private hospital allowed Mr. Hai's surgery, it was successful and he's on the mend. Obamacare's "Death Panels" anybody? That's socialized medicine in a communist country.

Remember back in the days when Nancy Pelosi, Michael Moore et al teamed up to help push along Obamacare? Yeah! Remember also when Michael Moore returned from Cuba's Fidel Castro extolling its health care facilities, medical staff and dispensing of medical and pharmacy items to all Cubans??? Well, here's proof positive of THAT LEVEL of World Class, excellent health care dispensed to one of the worlds most bombastic leaders...Hugo Chavez. Dead at the hands of Cuba's excellent healthcare system...does that tell America what's in store for her OBAMINATION??? Pray. Amen. What's Nancy Pelosi's and Michael Moore's statement now? US Veteran's Administration is 10 times worse than Castro's Cuba...just visit any VA and see for your self. It's hard to tell Castro's Cuban healthcare and US's VA apart.Pray for our Vets. Amen.

Well, back in the days, even Benito Mussolini & Adolph Hitler had their fans among some of the "smarter set," including Charles Lindbergh (sadly.) Only with the commencement of hostilities were they finally seen in their true light.
