There have been a lot of interesting comments made lately about rape, pregnancy, and guns.  When combined, the results can be puzzling, offensive, or a combination of the two.  As this debate over guns rages on, we see more and more Democrats, albeit at the local level, making stupid remarks about rape a la Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock.  We had State Rep. Joe Salazar (D-Colorado) saying women don’t know what it feels like before they’re raped, hence they shouldn’t be armed on campus. State Senator Evie Hudak (D-Colorado) had the temerity to say to Amanda Collins that the “statistics are not on your side” during her testimony on Colorado’s bill that would ban concealed-carry weapons on college campuses.  Collins was brutally raped in a gun free zone at the University of Nevada-Reno.

Now, Zerlina Maxwell, a Democratic strategist, has a new anti-gun agenda: telling men not to rape.  Allahpundit at Hot Air posted today that:

[I]n fairness to Maxwell, I don’t think she’s touting anti-rape education as a complete alternative to arming women, she’s touting it in order to duck Hannity’s question about why any woman should be left defenseless in the name of advancing the Democrats’ gun-control agenda. As we saw yesterday, that subject is vexing enough for a committed gun-grabber that it’s apt to induce outright idiocy in its proponents. To believe that educating boys about what constitutes consent might eliminate rape entirely is like believing that anti-smoking and anti-drunk-driving campaigns will eliminate emphysema and alcohol-fueled car crashes. They might reduce the risk but they’ll never get rid of it completely. And rape, needless to say, is different from vehicular homicide caused by DUI insofar as it’s a crime of intent. There are, in fact, plenty of degenerates who understand the boundaries of consent perfectly well and will cross them regardless. It’s for those special individuals that handguns capable of fitting in purses are made.

Fifty-five percent of the number of rape/sexual assault victimizations in which self-protective measures were employed by the victim resulted in helping the situation. Self-protective measures hurt the situation in 10.5% of victimizations. In 17.2% of the incidents the result neither helped nor hurt the situation, and in 7.7% of the incidents the situation was both helped and hurt.

In rape/sexual assault victimizations where measures were taken by someone other than the victim, it helped the situation 27.7% of the time. 14.9% of the time it hurt the situation; 38.4% of the time it neither helped nor hurt the situation, and 2% of the time it both helped and hurt the situation.
In cases where self-protective measures by the victim were helpful, 42.5% avoided injury or greater injury, 37.6% escaped, and 11.1% of the time the offender was scared off.

In cases where self-protective measures by the victims were harmful, no data is available for rape/sexual assault. For assault in general, 69.6% of the time, it made the offender angrier, more aggressive, 9.7% of the time it led to injury or greater injury, and 15.6% of the time it made the situation worse in other ways.

Can someone teach me about not murdering people? Because the bodies are starting to pile up and garbage collection is only once a week.

I read that nearly all people in prison are democrats. I don't know if that is true, but I bet the large majority are not Republican. If women are allowed to defend themselves, they are not victims (strike 1) and democrat-leaning criminals get killed (strike 2).

So the idea is that until today men haven't really known what rape is? I think liberals are projecting again. They do that a lot. So do monkeys. They think that when you smile you're about to attack. But you're not. You're just smiling. Liberals think everyone born before them was a woman-hating racist. But they're not. Liberals like to think if they lived a long time ago they would've deserted Cortes and joined the Aztecs in Tenochtitlan and stormed the Bastille and ended slavery. Probably not.

The really disturbing thing is not the dismissal of self-defense; it is that this person's mindset has adopted the Andrea Dworkin-like attitude that men currently are "taught to rape." For her to make the suggestion and believe that it is not an absurdity, she must believe that the opposite of what she advocates IS being taught/advocated.

It is the equivalent of that old Eddie Murphy SNL skit where he disguises himself as a white man and discovers that when no black people are around life is a perpetual party with everything free---that is, the ideal of the ghetto welfare recipient. It was a funny sketch, but it was disturbing because one could sense that Murphy was actually giving voice to a conviction that exists, on some level, in the black community---and, indeed, we see it now in Obama's welfare and EBT policies; he's trying to make a free perpetual party for "his people" (as Eric Holder might put it) on the backs of those he's convinced have been having a free perpetual party all along.

This woman believes the same thing is true of men; they've been "taught to rape," and they need to be "re-educated."

If this paradigm is so, then who taught Dworkin to be a moron?
