More: Belcher was a troubled man trying to cure his soul with alcohol and painkillers.
Update: Lou Dobbs reacts on Twitter:
The Media Left at Halftime: Bob Costas pushing gun control, quoting…who else?..a sports writer on ridding the country of the 2nd Amendment
— lou dobbs (@loudobbsnews) December 3, 2012
Update: For those who missed it, here is video of Costas’ remarks.
h/t Tom for the video clip
Update: Earlier today, here’s how Whitlock reacted to reaction to his column, which blamed a gun for the evil acts of a grown man.
My column on Jovan Belcher that has gun nuts pissed: extreme.mobile.msn.com/sports/NFL/art…
— Jason Whitlock (@WhitlockJason) December 2, 2012
If gun owners were actually “nuts” as Mr. Whitlock alleges, how likely would he be to go out of his way to “piss” millions of them off?
Update (From Ed): Newsbusters has an embeddable version of the video of Costas’ rant:
Incidentally, this isn’t the first Cowboys-Eagles game on Sunday Night Football that Costas has politicized with liberal talking points.

It’s NBC. What else were you expecting?
Nonsense Between Commercials…
Bravo Dude, I tried like heck to come up with something and I got Nuthin.
Thanks, but it wasn’t mine originally…. I forget where I saw that one, along with a bunch of others for ABC, PBS, CBS, etc. (C more BS..)
NBC = Never Been Correct
MSNBC = Mostly Stupid ‘N Biased Content
ABC = Always Being Cynical
CBS = Certifiable [Bravo-Sierra]
CNN = Canary News Network (as in “all yellow”)
PBS = Publicly Bought and Shillling
NPR = National Proletariat Radio
BBC = Bumbling, Bombastic Cynicism or Bye Bye Credibility
@CR
HEHE I call CNN — Crescent NEWS Network or Commie News Net
and the BBC = Bloviating Bigots Channel
I also named NPR National Palestine Radio
I like your MSNBC but also like MSLSD
Nannystate Bullsh^tting Commies
Respected Costas until this ignorant stance was taken. If you do not understand history, please don’t poison the minds of those who do not as well.
Well, a radical left media organ is naturally in the tank with those who want nothing more than to shred every ethos of the Constitution. And in order to do so, what better way than to harp on the shredding of the 2nd Amendment?
People who want to control others can only do so under certain circumstances. They must first destroy the economy and then take away the populace’s arms.
Now, the mantra that guns kill and that people don’t is just that, a leftist mantra. The fact of the matter is that those who are either out of their minds, or criminal in intent, will ALWAYS get arms! So, where does that leave the law abiding citizen if they are stripped of theirs? Exactly. They are at the mercy of dangerous stalkers/criminals and of the gov’t which seeks to control them!
As such, Costas should shut the hell up and realize the Radical-in-Chief will not be able to stop patriots from exerting their Constitutional rights, even though he will do everything in his power to stop them – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/08/20/the-thug-in-chief-hell-bent-on-disarming-christian-patriots-ordered-his-racialist-ag-to-turn-up-the-heat-addendum-to-barack-hussein-obamas-brave-new-world-second-amendment-pro-life-su/
The most dangerous people are those who pretend they have your best interests at heart – even though they don’t know you from a hole in the wall.
Question: Does Costas employee armed security? If not, he probably should look into it.
I’m sure Curt Gowdy of the American Sportsman on ABC would be turning over in his grave. Not only did the show display the responsible use of guns but also hunting wild animals. Both pastimes appear to be on the non PC list. Too bad the liberals have taken over the press. It is no longer fair.
Indeed, it’s NBC, so Costas might receive a slap on the wrist…..maybe.
We understand that “God Bless America” could be heard in the background.
To be sure, May God Bless America, but leave out of our midst the hateful,
anti-Americans like Costas and NBC.
Just one more reason to shut off your televisions, my fellow Americans.
It’s all rubbish, tripe, lies, misinformation and propaganda.
A real Cowboy fan watches the game while listening to the radio broadcast and wouldn’t hear that BS.
Radio is where I’m headed.
I’m an SC college football fan. I’ve been thinking about listening to radio while I watch the game. This incident might be enough to send me out to buy a radio.
I’m a K-Stater and I’d love to listen to the radio instead of the TV guys, but most of the time our radio broadcast runs so far ahead of the TV that you know before the play even starts how it’s going to end. Maybe some people like that, but I find it immensely irritating.
I was listening to the radio and playing red dead redemption. Then unfortunately I walked by the broadcast right when Costas spewed into his mic.
– from Dan Patrick?
I often do that for Seahawks games since Steve Raible and Warren Moon – a couple of ex-Seahawks do the calls on radio. There is no Cowboys radio that coincides with their tv appearances ‘up here’ in Washington state.
Costas was pathetic but I imagine he got a good pat on the head from his bosses for parroting the company line even though he’s always been a sports analyst as long as I’ve ever been aware of him. Looks like NBC has lost one more Sunday night viewer – I ain’t takin this crap!
I deprogrammed our local CBS affiliate after the Letterman comments on Palin’s daughter. Haven’t watched CBS since. I just sent an email to our local NBC affiliate… told them ‘so long.’
Ya know… a person can have a much better quality of life without TV. I will miss Sunday night football. My guns are much more important to me than Sunday night football.
If you’re watching football you should have a general idea what’s going on. When I attend a game in person I don’t have some talking head telling me what just happened. There’s a mute button. When there’s half time when they are all that’s on it’s time to use the bathroom or get burgers/pizza/ice cream. If they’re on tv, they’re not worth listening to. They should get real jobs.
Won’t watch another game as long as Costas is on NBC?
First of all… yes you will, because you’re a football fan. So drop the hyperbole.
Second of all, your title is just as misguided as anything Costas said. Going after your “Constitutional Right of Self Defense”? I’m sorry, I must have missed that part. When did he say a person under attack didn’t have the right to defend him/herself?
If you’re going to complain that big bad Bob Costas is going after your rights, at least be accurate about which ones.
What do you think the likes of Costas want to do? They want to do away with the Second Amendment. That’s why this tragedy was exploited. Wake up.
Do away with the second amendment? Sure, it only requires 2/3rds of both houses of congress and then 2/3rds of the states. I think this would be the most difficult amendment to repeal.
No but the WON can tax and re-regulate the hell out of us. Heller will get overturned as soon as the WON picks the next Constitutional hating marxist for the bench.
You are correct. Costas never said that if I were attacked I wouldn’t be allowed to use a gun to defend myself. Of course, if I weren’t allowed to have that gun in the first place – which is what Costas did call for – it might be a little inconvenient to secure one in the few moments I would have for defense.
I strongly suspect that Costas lives in an area saturated with police protection and never goes anywhere out of reach of security tasked with protecting him. Rather like Bloomberg having a policeman on permanent assignement in front of his Manhattan house even before he was the Mayor of NYC.
On the other hand, if the government would guarantee my safety, to the extent that in the event of failure they could be sued, I might reconsider the ownership of several weapons that I have. However, SCOTUS has laughed the idea of government responsibility/liability out of court.
Be careful what you wish for. Having a brownshirt on every corner to ensure the “safety” of the people is every leftist’s wish.
Speaking of brown shirts didn’t Obummer opine that he’d like to have a ‘civilian army’? Maybe thats what the millions of rounds of ammo the gubmint is buying up is for?
Shades of Mao!
Who’s he going to arm, the OWS dweebs? Most of the Obamunists my age are the inner city types who’ve never touched a gun in their lives, much less learned to fire one. They appear brave while smashing up private property under the tacit protection of the police, but they’d scatter under fire.
When seconds count, the police are under no legal obligation to come at all.
I quit watching the NFL after they tried to electronically-lynch Rush Limbaugh for something he DID NOT say. I’m the better for it and I hope others will follow suit, but I’m not expecting it.
i dropped the nfl from my life when they screwed Rush.
that gaping hole on Sundays was pretty damn easy to fill.
Likewise. Football has degenerated in every way possible. It’s not a sport anymore, it’s a malignancy
There’s no hyperbole there at all. I refused to watch “Football Night in America” due to the presence of that inane bag o’ d0uche named Keith Olbermann.
I have zero issues at all with dropping them again. Football be damned, and the NFL be damned. If they choose to allow these weak sisters to be associated with their product, their product is something I can and will do without.
“When did he say a person under attack didn’t have the right to defend him/herself?”
When he ranted about “gun culture”. WTF do you think I have firearms for? New Year’s Eve celebrations?
So my right to defend myself would be to “take a knife to a gun fight?”. Sheesh. You would do that for YOUR family? Not me, buddy. I love my family too much to add that to their risk.
Shameful. Though Im not surprised.
Perhaps Mr. Costas (and others who consider gun control the answer to ending violence) should be made aware of the tragic shooting that occured in Casper, Wyoming this week. A young man went to great lengths to shoot his Father and his father’s female friend. The point I wish to make is that the weapon used in this shooting is NOT a Gun. It was a cross-bow. The young man also made use of a knife to end the lives of his two targets and then himself. NO GUN was used in this tragic situation.
I wish that Anti-gun idealists would learn the old idea that cross-bows and knives don’t kill people, People do.
I have always wanted to ask these ninnies who insist that guns are the root of all evil, why not just make killing people illegal. What? It already is? Whodathunk?
It’s not the tool that matters, and making guns illegal will be the same as making drugs, prostitution, online gambling etc. illegal. You will simply deny lawful citizens a Constitutional right that will still be exploited by criminals.
Never surrender, especially to the government.
There ought to be a Law Against Crime!
Spoons made me fat.
You can kill a person with a spoon. Sometimes it’s you and sometimes it ain’t.
30,000-40,000 Americans die in auto accidents every year. That’s much higher than the rate of gun homicides.
So, Bob, isn’t it time for a sensible speed limit, like 30 mph on all expressways? It would dramatically reduce the fatality rate. Let’s hear you state your case on TV.
What’s that, Bob? You like to drive at 55 mph? You like your freedom to get places quickly?
55? That is so arcane! We kill ourselves at 70mph in Washington state. Its faster that way.
And now we have Inslee to finish killing off all the busines in the state, too!
It’s 80 in some places in Texas, lol!
I was watching this with my husband last night and I was shocked that they/he would make NFL sunday political. that was shameful!
In North Dakota it’s 75, but a big fine isn’t issued until you go over 90. It doesn’t take long to cross the state at 89mph!
Costas is one of the cranks that rants about the 4800 war deaths since 2001.
It’s supposed to be sports, for Pete’s sake. Is there no escape from these leftists??? Will they never just shut their mouths? Just talk football.
Costas was going after guns, in general. He made no distinction about guns used in self-defense and guns used in the commision of crimes. Probably required too much effort for his teeny, tiny brain. Bah.
I shut the game off and emailed the NFL. i told them i will not watch a game on that network until Costas is GONE. I could not believe it. He relies on ARMED security all the time. What a hypocrite.
Hey Bobby, would it have made you feel better if he had slit her throat and then jumped off a 30 story building?
Typical sentiments from a typical source.
Note to Costas: Who cares what you think? Especially when the city attorney of San Bernadino tells people “lock their doors and load their guns” because the city could no longer afford to keep up a strong enough police force. http://blogs.the-american-interest.com/wrm/2012/12/02/thunderdome-in-california/
Oh, wait! California has one of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation and it hasn’t made diddly worth of impact on their murder/suicide rates. But law abiding citizens won’t be able to get permits for guns. So I guess it’s baseball bats and prayer for them.
Well said sir! Thank you and my channel was changed after the attack also !
#costasmustgo
As a sports castor your job is to inform us about sports, not an opinion of our constitutional rights. It was not the weapons choice to unfortunately take someone’s life, it was the humans decision. If the human did not have the weapon, the human would have used other methods to accomplish its goal. I disagree with his decision and feel for the family but because of our right to responsibly own weapons, this country of America is what it is.
Bob Costas….you sir are a @&$) moron!!
NBC needs to fire your stupid leftist ass.
Bumbling idiot
Screw you Bob. Suck it.
Ironic that Costas would make that statement during a Dallas game. Gun control is not a particular popular point of view in Texas.
Perhaps the Dallas Cowboys franchise would make sure that Bob Costas does not participate in future broadcasts of their games. This assumes that the Cowboys franchise management supports the second amendment to our Constitution.
Yes, Texas became an independent country over the issue of individual liberty requiring effective self-defense. Without an effective force equalizer, currently firearms, individuals are dependent on a distant government for protection from criminals and thugs. That distant government may let you die due to incompetence or malice.
Bob Costas using SNF as a political platform is shameful. I like his broadcasting. As for his political or social views, i dont care. Not the place Bob! Keep it to yourself, you are not that important!
I could not believe it! What an ignorant and heartless comment!!! Ugh why does he even HAVE that job?
Costas should be fired.. PERIOD
Why do actors, singers, sports announcers, and other paid minstrels think we give a rat’s soiled tail-end about their views on politics or which civil rights we should surrender to a government that cannot even protect its own Ambassadors?
Let’s take it viral and show Costas his job is to report, and not share his very ignorant opinion on National Television! Ban NBC!
”Bob Costas believes we need gun control because a man composed of 250 pounds of muscle has no other means to inflict violence.”
-Dan McLaughlin
“… and his 120 lbs victim would have otherwise been able to resist him.”
-Null Hypothesis
“A more logically sound argument would be that if the victim had been armed, she might be alive today” – Mark Smith
Both sides have a point: “Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it.” vs. the rights of “responsible citizens” – Curious if the football players was conceal carry or what training he had.
what?
Both sides have a point: “Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it.”
Bolshevik!
That point is a LIE!
Every study of High Gun Control vs. High Gun Availability area in the united states shows that the High Gun Availability (especially the Shall Issue CWP areas) are far safer to live in than the Strict Gun Control areas.
Period!
Citing the availability of handguns as the cause of the crimes , essentially demonizes every one of the 80 million gun owners who somehow manage to keep them in their homes, or on their person, to protect themselves and their families, and never, ever, ever go out and shoot their girlfriends, before shooting themselves, thus leaving behind an orphaned daughter.
Try looking at the facts before you give someone’s propaganda creedence!
“25 States allow anyone to buy a gun, strap it on, and walk down the street with no permit of any kind: some say it’s crazy.
“However, four out of five murders are committed in the other half of the country: so who is crazy?”
—Andrew Ford
Try reading the “Armed Citizen” column in the American Rifleman sometime.
I am sick and tired of these Communists on NBC and others pushing thier political agendy when I am trying to watch a great american past time. These are the same pukes that want more regulation even in sports. These sports commentators if they can’t stick to sports then they need to go. Fire Costas
I pretty much stopped caring about the NFL when they refused to let Rush Limbaugh be the part owner of the Rams (even theoretically). Not that I am a fan of his (the opposite), but simply how having a conservative political ideology is somehow considered so awful that they didn’t want any part of it.
Costas is such a self-loathing elitist hypocrite. It is nearly impossible to watch sports today isnce the same agenda prevails as the ‘news’: anti-American.
I quit watching the NFL after the league ran Rush Limbaugh off for something he DID NOT say. I’m hoping others will follow suit, but I doubt it.
I knew NBC was extreme left but hearing Costa’s rant made me turn off the TV because I was so disgusted
It’s a tradegy that a Fool like Bobby Costas uses a senseless killing/suicide as a soap box to exploit a personal & an media establishments biased promotion for gun control – Use your God given common sense for a change – place blame where it belongs – stop making excuses for individuals who make terrible choices – People Kill not guns – Cain didn’t need or use a handgun to kill his brother Able & commit the first murder ever – Costa you want gun control move to a 3rd world country that offers your desire’s – Please take your nbc counter parts with you – sports will be better without a little dope such as yourself back here!!!
I’m glad I’m not the only one appalled by Costas using this tragedy to push his liberal views during a sports broadcast!
O.J., Bob, O.J.
Took me all of about one second to think of the example once I started thinking about non-gun killings, black athletes, women of the past.
T
You would have thought Bob would have remembered his former broadcast colleague.
Perhaps Bob can start a crusade against Ginsu knives too.
Outstanding!!
I have an idea, why don’t we refuse to sell guns to football players and announcers, that should take care of the problem. Atleast Bob won’t have to comment on it at half time.
The Cannonball Run has nothing on “Biggest Douchebag with NBC Paycheck”.
I love how these media types love to feign concern about ‘society’ by banning guns. Actually, what they really should consider is banning football. After all, Belcher WAS a football player. He had concussions and drug problems related to football and pain and so forth. Football was a factor in his demise and his actions. But Costas would NEVER talk about banning football, because it pays for his house on the Vineyard.
If it threatens their wallet, guys like Costas wouldn’t care if every other NFL player killed someone.
I sent my email to NBC. It won’t be read but I did it. I will no longer watch SNF. Even if my team is playing.
The ever-smug, ever-sanctimonious Bob Costas is just being Bob Costas. I know Al Michaels is laughing at him. Al is no liberal.
The only time I ever needed a gun to defend myself was against…football players. The combination of ball games and media coverage seems to produce people like Costas. Were I representing a whole field of athletic endeavor on television, I might be more concerned about “giving the sport a bad name.”
Theodore Roosevelt threatened to outlaw football. If this is how they’re going to carry on, we can bring that movement back. Or, they can lose Costas. Their choice.
Roosevelt actually saved football from the movement that was afoot to ban it. 18 athletes had been killed playing football in 1905. Ironically the New York Times, king of the ban, was on the side of banning it, saying, “There are two curable evils in American life, lynchings and football.”
Hey Costas, have you ever heard of Nicole Simpson? So, you prefer wives and girlfriends have their throats slit?
Bob who?
Exactly. I clicked on this thread to find out who Bob Costas is. Even after finding out, I still don’t care. From all appearances he seems to be a pasty faced middle aged white guy who can’t come up with a rant on his own so he quotes another guy who seems to have issues of his own. So I checked on Jason Whitlock, wondering who he is and found out the he’s a fat black guy who has issues with Asians, having to apologize for commenting about Jereemy Lin: “Some lucky lady in NYC is gonna feel a couple of inches of pain tonight.”
Suggestion for people who let jerks like this get under their skin: ignore them, they’re nobody. Their sole importance comes from people who give a rat’s behind what they say.
Ineresting that NBC would allow this kind of ‘personal opinion’. With the spotlight suddenly being put on gun control it is not surprising to see this pushed once again especially with a highly publisized incident. Especially when the investigation has not given all circumstances. Does this mean that any item that can be used as a weapon is going to be banned? Could have just as well have been a knife, baseball bat, hammer, or even the use of a football helmet. Criminals do not take gun safety courses or register their firearms. They do not care about the laws. It is easier for a Felon to purchase a firearm than a law abiding citizen that practeces their 2nd amendment rights. Take a look at history of when the masses have been forced to be unarmed and what the result was. Over 70% of crimes do not even involve firearms. Let’s use the mass media to instill fear into the population so that they look to the government for more ‘protection’. Mr. Costas was way out of line and exploited his position to politic views to many people that were tuned in for entertainment and to see Americans continue to perform under the stress of a horrific incident. Knowing that a large audience would be tuned in Mr. Costas made use to promote an agenda that directly reflects the thoughts of NBC since they did nothing to stop it. It is a shame to watch our country be split due to misinformation about political and personal agendas. Do your research and be informed before you support what you see and hear from biased sources. It’s time we think for ourselves and understand what our rights are. We need to understand our responsibilities as citizens of the United States of America and make sure that OUR voices are heard instead of letting misinformed and misguided people do it for us…….
If you haven’t noticed recently Bryan, many if not most of these “sports journalists” and broadcasters today are the most politically correct, leftist turds on the planet. Ever tried to read a Ron Silver article on Yahoo? He’s a bigger cheerleader for Obama than Chris Matthews. Same with that worm Mike Lupica – a complete hack. Verne Lundquist is another Obama puppet. ESPN is chock full of leftist bottom feeders, including many misandrists and man hating dykes – Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddows in waiting.
Frankly, most of these bottom feeding sports journalists are just lefty, wannabee athletes that are too stupid to understand the intricacies of politics and rank cowards, so they interject the stupidity in their sports broadcasting.
This has been going on for 20 years or so.
I’ve noticed.
I figured you probably had.
ESPN is working overtime to screw up college sports – professional sports are already down the tubes, with maybe the exception of baseball.
I wish I could convince the evil White America males (doubly evil if you ever, ever reference Christianity and/or Conservative) to turn off all sports for one year, quit buying season tickets for one year, quit buying the merchandise for one year.
I guarantee this is one issue where the PC, lefty line would never be crossed again.
Bingo! For the life of me, I cannot understand the many millions of white males who pay huge ticket prices to watch the NFL/NBA. Both leagues are predomiately (80-90%) black; both league’s players could care less about the city they play for; both league’s players support the WON; and I am sure the black players could care less about the white males who support them to play their games.
I gave up on the NFL many years ago and when ex-Chief RB Larry Johnson said he would never give his all for a white coach, well that sealed the deal. I knew the NFL was dead.
The same white males who are demonized by the left-support the biggest AA game ever built. Basketball and football have been nothing but affirmative action programs for blacks who have ruined both sports at both the collegiate and professional levels.
So, Belcher couldn’t have stabbed his wife, or smashed her head in with a frying pan, or choked her to death, or run her over, or beat her to death with a club, or…? Just another mindless attempt to blame an inanimate object instead of the dark heart of a murderer. Leave it to NBC to come up with this childish attack on guns.
Was watching the cowboy game when I heard Mr Costas’ opinion. I turned it off and I am furious! Cant even watch a football game without being preached to by some pussylipped asshole. Its sports, my god can we leave the politics out of it? I hate NBC and was so pissed my cowboys were on that channel. This just re-affirmed my hatred, NBC will never again be on in my house, my restaurant and if it is on anywhere I go I will make my opinion heard.
Didn’t some lunatic kill a professor and the himself with a knife last week? Must have been our “knife culture.”
crossbow not knife
How about banning young black males from having guns as they commit at least half of the murders and are only 2 or 3 percent of the population.
Costas must be RAAAACIST to not want football players to have guns.
Everyone knows that athletes never have access to unlicensed firearms. So if guns had been illegal, Belcher simply would not have had one. Is that what we’re supposed to believe?
Science has linked them to broadcasters losing their minds.
They’re also a deadly weapon in the hands of propagandists who want to disarm us.
It’s the gun’s fault.
This is the same lefty BS where we are supposed to believe they want to ban guns for us ignorant citizens but it’s okay for the gubmit to smuggle weapons to the “reformers” in the middle east??? The Oblama Admin is sending thousands of weapons to Syrian opposition forces, aka Islamic fundamentalists, but we shouldn’t have them here at home. They weaponized the Libyan opposition forces, aka Islamic fundamentalists, during that little scuffle too. Wonder if the weapons used to kill our ambassador and 3 other AMericans there were of US origin? Now wouldn’t THAT be interesting!!!
Yeah, Costas ought to move to England where ‘no homicides occur’, right?
Wrong.
In the countryside some horrible means of assault, murder take place without guns.
If people’s intent is to cause harm, they will.
Costas is yet another police state-seeking d-bag. I’m sure his comment was music to Barack Kardashian’s ears.
Great Britain is a gun control proponent’s utopia. They completely ban all handguns and greatly restrict the availability and types of long arms that people may possess.
In 2010 there were 1,158,957 violent crimes in Great Britain, a country of 60 million. In the US with our population of well over 300 million there were 1,246,248 violent crimes during the same period.
Let me do the math. In GB with their strict gun control you are over five times as likely to be the victim of a violent crime as here in “violent” America with our guns behind every blade of grass.
Liberalism permeates all sports. Last year had to listen to Tim McCarver tell us how Global Warming contributed to more home runs in MLB. What tripe is that? Chris Collingsworth questions Kobe Bryant’s “over enthusiastic” patriotism during Olympic run up interview where Kobe expresses a deep love for this country. The lib/socialist commentators are all over sports. I try not to watch or if I must, I try to provide a level of understanding to my kids. My kids are smarter than the broadcasting idiots. God bless America.
Jerry Jones might have a say in this taking place during his teams game which after some blundered games of late, he wouldnt appreciate. Obviously it soured the fans. Had this been Rush, he’d be gone.
Why no blame to the FOX Sports News website, for running Whitlock’s column in the first place?
If Whitlock and Costas’ world veiwhad been enacted then Kendra St. Claire would most likely be dead but we would have Mr. Belcher. As most will remember, Ms. St. Claire shot and scared away an intruder in her home with a Glock. There are many others like Ms. St. Claire who have protected their own life with firearms but they are unimportant as they don’t provide Whitlock and Costas with a job.
Gun control advocates just don’t get that you will never remove a majority oo, let alone all, of the firearms out there. Just look at how effective drug laws are on keeping those off the streets.
The problem is not the “guns” out there it is the lack of reverance of life out there. I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that both Whitlock and Costas are of that liberal crowd that pushes positive views of “pro- choice” ideology and demonizes religion. I am also willing to bet that the Consequence Free Life of left has a hand or two in the devalueing of humanity.
It’s only a tragedy to Whitlock and Costas because it has a negative impact on their lives as people do, in fact, reevaluate what is important and two guys whose schtick is reading 1st down stats ain’t so important.
Costas probably. Whitlock, maybe not. He’s a strange bird with views that are sometimes contradictory. He may actually be one of those blacks who voted for Obama while holding some fairly conservative social values. He’s also written columns in the past that criticized the thug/gangsta culture permeating and surrounding the NBA and criticizing the black media bubble that insulates black QBs and other sports personalities like RGIII from honest criticism stemming from their race.
Here he’s straight up wrong.
Well, in San Bernardino, California, the city is so broke that it had to let go of most of police officers in order to pay the overbloated state’s pensions. The result? A lot more murders in the city and a crime rate that is starting to spin out of control. You can read more about this story here: http://blogs.the-american-interest.com/wrm/2012/12/02/thunderdome-in-california/
So, OK, all you far-left liberals out there. What do the people of San Bernardino do once most of the police officers are gone and there is a total breakdown of law-and-order and out-of-control civil unrest? Don’t think it can happen? Well, I suggest that anybody who lived through the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles think long and hard about that. It CAN happen and it WILL happen, soon. More and more local governments are going bust because of the pension and benefits deals they made with the devil, also knows as unions. So San Bernardino is what happens when you hit the end of the line in the social-welfare state. And it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better, if at all.
So what are YOU, the undefended citizen supposed to do when crime is going unanswered in your town or city? If you listen to Bob Costas and people like him, just disarm yourself and become yet another victim. But that’s what liberals are famous for, being victims, IN EVERYTHING. Whether its government, education, personal responsibility, just about anything, playing and being the victim is so much easier than standing up for your rights and for what IS right. And when your counrty finally collapses, like Greece, it will be those same liberals rioting, smashing store and bank windows, and attacking people for food. Why? Because they are victims, naturally.
If the laws in your town or city allow it, get a gun, learn how to use and maintain it, and keep it safe in your house. You’re going to need it. San Bernardino is coming to a town near you, or your town WILL be the next San Bernardino. The only thing that’s going to keep you and your family alive in the not-to-distant future will be the old frontier spirit that made this country great in the first place. And, given where we’re headed financially, you’re going to need it.
In a local HS, a giant banner (we paid for) has a picture of a cig & a revolver emitting smoke. “They’re both the same”. In our [local] county, firearms restrictions were part of a anti-hate bill that passed last week (to much fanfare, but with zero mention of the firearms controls).
I suspect that there’s enough anti-handgun pop-movement AND activists to bring about the controls that will – essentially – ban them, and very soon.
I don’t know anything about the victim or the murderer, but, in general, there are plenty of other issues that contributed – especially related to the problems with the sport itself.
As already mentioned, there is the issue of concussions. When some of the greatest players of all time are taking their lives a decade or so after retirement and they so so in a way so that their brains can be studied, the NFL has a serious issue on its hands. Costas could have discussed that – but that would have created a firestorm for him and he apparently did not have the guts to do so.
Also, the education of professional athletes is suspect. I live in the shadow of Ohio State University and hear a lot about the lengths to which colleges go to get star athletes through the system. “Some” young men are leaving college unable to function educationally in a world that is filled with people ready to manipulate and cheat them. But challenging the NFL “farm system” would again have required some real courage on Costas part.
Finally, lifestyle issues – again I don’t know much about this individual specifically, but domestic violence is domestic violence. What were the issues that triggered the explosion? Was it related to the “hear no evil, see no evil” attitude of professional sports toward the behavior of its athletes? But, again, the teams are the ones who could get even Costas fired if he said the wrong thing.
Sad to hear this – up to know, Costas was one of the reasonable guys in the sports booth in my opinion. Now I know he doesn’t have any real courage in the face of controversy.
First off, are there statistics on the suicide rate for former NFL players? I know they are prone to dying younger due to a plethora of health issues because football is not a kind sport to one’s body. Football players are the equivalent of modern gladiators and anyone who goes into that sport needs to do so with their eyes open – they will have problems down the road.
However, for Belcher, he was 25. It is more likely that his issue stemmed from substance abuse, possibly steroid use which can cause the kind of aggression and paranoia that might drive one to murder and physical pain from a demanding and damaging career choice.
How far do we go? Do we allow people to choose to continue to play football, or do we take that choice away? Or, do we take away guns in the meantime?
Dear NBC:
I was trying to enjoy a halftime football show last night expecting to see highlights and talk of the winners and losers of the day. Unfortunately, for me and millions of other people. what we got was a biased opinion from Bob Costas about guns. Doesn’t Bob know that the very freedoms he enjoys were not successfully gained without some forms of violence, including guns! But I just strayed from the point of this email which is what Costas did last night. It is appalling that an employee of your network chose to exploit a terrible tragedy and lecture the country on his views.
A Sunday night football game is not the time nor place for Costas’ opinions. I think I will be going to radio broadcasts from now on for football and I will start watching other news outlets when I want real news and not personal opinions.
You and your network should be ashamed to keep this guy on your staff.
Stephen Engle
Remember, if you just ban guns it can’t happen.

With the advent of bankers petitioning the State of New York for carry permits after the financial meltdown, it would seem worth looking into to see if Costas has a carry permit as well. Prolbably does.
I suspect that the anti-gun rhetoric of the Left in this country has done more for firearm sales than just about anything else. There is something deeply un-American and uncivil behind the idea that we should be prohibited from protecting ourselves by whatever means necessary.
Elizabeth Smart drowned her children in a car.
Ergo, cars should either be outright banned to civilians, more highly regulated as to WHICH civilians are permitted to purchase them, or made completely watertight, unable to sink.
After all, it’s for the CHILDREN!!!!!
Elizabeth Smart was abducted, abused and held against her will. You’re thinking of Susan Smith.

Don’t blame Costas. Blame the microphone.
Naw, let’s blame his mother.
“Our current gun culture simply ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy,…”
No, it doesn’t.
“As gun ownership has increased dramatically, gun-related violent crimes have gradually decreased over the past six years in the state of Virginia, according to a new analysis.
“From 2006 to 2011, the total number of guns purchased in Virginia increased 73 percent, while the total number of gun-related violent crimes decreased 24 percent over that period. And when adjusted for population growth, the number of crimes further decreases to more than 27 percent, with 79 gun-related offenses per 100,000 in 2006 dropping to 57 by 2011.”

When Costas started his rant, I got up and went to the bathroom.
I wonder how long he had to train his voice so that his tone matched the sound of a toilet flushing.
Being the guy in Wyoming killed more with his knife (two plus himself) that the KC player did with his gun, we certainly need additional restrictions on knives. And don’t forget rope that figure so prominently in the tragedy in Cleveland.
Why is anyone surprised? Everything is political to liberals. They’ve even politicized how we go to the toilet by mandating those worthless “low-flow” toilets that have to be flushed 2 or 3 times. Screeching about guns because a grown man paid millions to play with a ball kills himself is just par for the course.
When costas started on his rant, I started watching a movie. I will never watch Sunday Night football again. He and NBC can go straight to h*ll, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
Let’s test Whitlock’s hypothesis, thus: “What I believe is, if [OJ Simpson] didn’t possess/own a gun, [his wife] and [Ron Goldman] would both be alive today.” . . . Oh, wait . . .
Just sent this to NBC Sports:
NBC
I guess I should thank networks and people like Bob Costas for making my days and evenings much more productive. About halfway through his rant during halftime, I switched to a movie and I will never watch anything on your network again, even if you fire that two-bit clown. It’s obvious he is an obama-bot because he, along with our president cares nothing for the Constitution of the the United States of America unless they can interpret another constitutionaly mandated right to suit their own ideas. No apologies necessary, I will not be watching your network to hear it.
Costas just revealed that not only is he a physical midget, he is an intellectual one as well.
Bob, a brilliant display of intellectual flatulence.
NBC, CBS and ABC have all promoted and PROFITED (evil word) from programming that glorifies guns killing people for decades. It’s time to abolish these networks in order to change the behavior of our society. Everyone working at these networks or affiliated with them in any capacity should be out of a job tomorrow.
RIGHT Costas?!
There, now we know what our mentor Bob Costas thinks about handguns. What entitles a sports broadcaster to launch a diatribe like this as a response to the actions of very disturbed, and apparently fatherless, young man. Does he really think making handgun ownership illegal will keep a guy like this from getting a gun? I’m talk about stupid. Sheesh. Is our mentor, Bob Costas, going to be on the next Olympic broadcast coverage? If so, it will be the first Olympics I won’t watch. I suspect NBC put this buffoon up to this and that is all I can do about them.
There is always a super under a speaker like Costas that says something like, “the following are not necessarily the opinions of NBC news.”
The lack of the super shows just how far the Obama corruption has filtered down.
I’ve just watched my last anything on NBC. NBC’s Traitor Computation Quotient is 100. Hang the logo from the highest tree.
“What I believe is, if he didn’t possess/own a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.”
For a second opinion see: Nicol Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman
I just don’t watch sports anymore because of idiots like Costa. It might just be that the black culture so glorifies this kind of unrestricted behavior that it is bound to occur. Is anyone paying attention to big city black crime? Anyone listening to the rap crap music that dominates the black culture. Anyone interested in the educational level these athletes have after they leave all these “great Institutions of learning”?
Wait a second.
It was wrong for Romney, in the wake of the Benghazi tragedy, to blame poor security standards that he said led to the death of our diplomats.
Yet it is not wrong for Costas, in the wake of the Belcher tragedy, to blame weak hand gun laws that he says led to the death of an innocent victim.
Huh?
Your statement is a non sequitur. If you can’t see this you are hopeless.
Grumps:
Call me hopeless, then. Please explain for those of us who need your special assistance.
My apologies Adam. I did not interpret your statement correctly the first time I read it. I feel appropriately sheepish. Time for more coffee….
Sports announcers have never had the reputation for being the sharpest tools in the journalistic shed. Stick to your narrow field of expertise Bob, or let Diane Sawyer give her expert opinion on the BCS bowl picks this year. Bob Costas is an idiot.
This is only a story because Belcher is an NFL player, otherwise it would be just another case of black-on-black violence that the liberals like to ignore.
I have not seen a picture of the girlfriend, only seen the name. Is she indeed black?
Not that it matters, but yes she was. Very pretty too.
Bob, is a puppet of the unionist in our media, and must be looking for relevance again! His time has already passed!
“Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples’ liberty’s teeth.” George Washington
Sports media is riddled with leftist. Peter King odes this same crap in his column as SI, Mike Silver is relentless with it; I’m glad he went to Yahoo sports where he’s easy to ignore. Don Banks is bearable in that he only tweets this stuff occasionally.
An NFL linebacker commits murder-suicide and Costas wants to talk about gun control? Earth to Bob: did it occur to you that maybe, just possibly, that the real culprit here was steroids? Maybe you should ask Yeardley Love’s family? She was not murdered with a gun. But her murderer sure lost a ton of weight as soon as he was incarcerated. It is the steroids, stupid – the gun had nothing to do with it.
IF belcher had no gun he would have beaten the woman to death.
The NINE shots show rage. His size and strength would have floored her with one smackdown and he could easily have smashed her in two or three blows and probably wouldnt be able to stop there.
He could have gone to the vehicle and driven it into a pole or building or over a bridge.
When one wants to KILL a gun is not the only choice
As this is a domestic scenario one way or another she was a dead pigeon.
What we need to look at here is not guns but male violence against women and its prevalence in SPORTS due to the embedded view of male superiority.
and the drugs and alcohol that rot the synapses of the brain.
it aint guns that kill, its the rage and hate of the gun user
How many millions of gun owners NEVER misuse any of them?
mmm…?
Sounds like ‘roid rage to me. But, I know, the NFL is clean! That’s why they have these 280 lb ripped monsters. No, wait, it’s brain trauma that makes them act this way! That way the lawyers can get a cut.
Well, he has to blame something. He can’t blame football which destroys players for our amusement. That would have been job threatening. The smartest thing would have been to just avoid it or say some meaningless platitudes.
Ask Nicole Brown Simpson about still being alive if an enraged football player didn’t have a gun.
Liberals are like religious zealots – once the underlying premise of their faith is believed – in the left’s case, that only govt has the answers to anything and that people are too stupid to act on their own – you cannot have substantive debate with them. It’s like the Islamic fanatics or the doomsday Christians; they have bought into a narrative from which they cannot be budged no matter how well thought-out your argument may be.
Costas ignores that A) the player who ignored laws against murder was unlikely to be deterred by a ban on guns, B) OJ didn’t need a gun, and C) the lowest crime rates are in the states with the least restrictive gun laws. But, liberals only see the world through their prism of what reality should be. If only the rest of us would just listen to them.
I’m glad liberals like Costas won’t carry a gun. It’s way easier to shoot them when they don’t shoot back.
Ah yes, Bob Costas, the guy who said, on air, that he would nor choose sides and root for our athletes at the Olympics.
The key part Costas/Whitlock comment is “…I believe…”. There need not be any objective evidence. A strong athletic male can easily kill. As an example: “http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2007/06/26/wrestler-slayings.html”. Tragic obviously, but no firearm/knife/weapon was used and yet the wife and child are still dead. A number of commentators have mentioned the possibility of “roid rage”, it was an explanation for the previous case as well.
I spent all weekend in the great outdoors communing with all of God’s creations of nature. I didn’t miss a single game or a single piece of worthless commentary designed to scare me and possibly motivate those who want to control me.
I don’t have cable and my TV is only connected to a DVD player that I seldom use. I have not sat in a theater staring mindlessly at shallow entertainment, watched sports live or technically reproduced for 3 years. I am aware of the silly and mindless housewives of anywhere USA yet I have never gazed at any of them for a point of more than a second. What transformed me to tuning out all of the mindless entertaintment? The circus if you will?
I am the first driver that survived a near an intentional head on collision with someone who surprised everyone who knew him in 2009. Coincidentally he was driving a Cadillac SUV, a sponser of NBC abd their sports. I have never looked back, I haven’t missed a thing and I live every day.

“The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.” George Washington
Look he is just a part of our culture and that part is quite old: blame others, and never hold anyone responsible for their actions. Then you can win allies by easy exculpation. Our religious institution have done forever: the Devil made me do it.
Once they sell you that, then you believe that there is big trouble in River City and only they have the cure.
Costa proved he is a born again IDIOT! But thinking about it, he does work for NBC Socialist/Obama Network. There was absolutely NO room in the game for his anti gun comments….whats he trying to do, impress anti-gun Obama so he can get a meal at the White House? Just think, had the girl had her own gun and he knew that, maybe they would both be alive. Like they say, guns do not kill people, people with guns kill people.

Get rid of automatic and assault weapons!
You gonna start walking? You said you wanted to get rid of all automatic and assault weapons.. Oh, I’m sorry, you drive car with a clutch?
Since records have been kept in 1934, there have been TWO homicides with a legally registered automatic weapon.
Last year, there were over 6,700 homicides in the US where a firearm was used. A grand total of 232 of those homicides used a rifle of any type.
You Sir, are an idiot.
Costas,
You may know football pretty well, but your rant against firearms shows a complete lack of knowledge about them, statistics involved in their use averting crimes and saving lives, and mental illness in general. Like so many other simpletons before you, you blame and demonize an inanimate object, a tool, that is nothing without the person using it. You fail to realize or credit it is individuals and their responsibility that determines actions. The gun didn’t make them do it any more than a plastic bag for suffocating, or a kitchen knife for stabbing is responsible for this tragedy. The real culprit may be this young mans undiagnosed or diagnosed mental illness, substance abuse, or anyone of a thousand other reasons you ignored in your rush to judgment or is it your agenda?.
Please stick to the game, eulogize this poor young man and his deceased girlfriend, and leave your ill-founded cultural politicking at home, lest you want to be remembered and judged by it
and not the rest of your work.
It’s a sad fact that when blacks are given the choice to live with each other vs kill one another, they choose death. To prove my point I’m going to ship a couple of truck loads of rusty machetes to some black neighborhoods and see how many hack each other to death. It’s the mere presence of a tool that evokes an irresistible urge to kill, in the black race. Perhaps this explains why after thousands of years, Africa produces nothing.. even the stone age is dangerous in a black society, stones can be sharpened, made into arrow heads, which are obviously a white race device to exterminate the black race.. And then what about electricity? Hmm..
Follow the money…. NBC is controlled by Comcast. Are any of you comcast subscribers? If so, make your displeasure known… I did….
I was watching a football game when a political discussion broke out. I turned off the game. It has suddenly dawned on me… I have no idea who won the game! And life goes on.
And it doesn’t matter who won. Got that Costas? No great issues of the day were settled, still have a huge deficit… huge debt… Among the great issues of the day football means nothing. And by extension, Costas you mean nothing.
Costas’ remarks are preposterous and have no basis in fact or logic, but then Liberal arguements rarely do.
The issue is not whether Costas and NBC have a right to make political statements during football halftime breaks. If they want to do so, it is their “unalienable right”, one I have personally defended in two major wars.. On the other hand, do NBC & Costas and FOX News’ Bill Hemmer & Martha McCallum really expect us to believe that a 260 pound linebacker can’t kill a 100 pound woman, or himself for that matter, with something other than a gun? How ’bout his bare hands? Give me a break!
I will be interested, however, to see what NBC’s sponsors have to say about 85 million “P.O.ed” gun owners, who quit watching NBC Sports.
Costas would be well advised to stick to his knitting or football; anything but politics.
One last point; I am sick and tired of the media bombarding me with anti-gun propaganda on virtually every type of programming. We get it on talk shows, news, movies, regular programming, documentaries, cartoons, kids’ shows, everywhere and now during halftime commercials during football games.
There are 85 million legitimate gun owners in this nation, who own, on average, three guns each. There are easily 300 million legally owned guns in this country. Think about it. Nearly half the adult population owns guns. Only a tiny decumal fraction of those people commit crimes with guns. In deed, if one eliminates the mentally ill and criminals from that decimal fraction, who are already statutorily forbidden to own guns, the number of gun crime purpetrators drops mathamatically to next to nothing.
Far more importantly however, it is the damage to all of our basic freedoms that I fear the most. The Bill of Rights is a partial list of our basic individual freedoms, upon which the government is absolutely forbidden to infringe. In deed, the Bill of Rights was as an absolute condition to the ratification of the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment puts teeth in the other nine of those rights and government prohibitions.
As goes the 2nd Amendment, so goes the entire Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Costas is a tool and football isn’t important but damnit I’m addicted to it!
Hollywood, music, sports, entertainment in general. Conservatives really need to make a choice whether to continue to promote these libertine enterprises with their patronage. It’s time to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. If anyone disparages the morals of America, but can’t help watching their “guilty pleasure” TV show or buying a lefty musician’s CD, don’t be surprised that the trash keeps flowing. Turn off Honey Boo Boo, quit going to Matt Damon movies, don’t go to the Bruce Springfield concert. Every dollar you give to these people, by buying their product, is like donating a dollar to the Democratic party.
I remember when I was in school, we used to make fun of the “religious” kids whose parents wouldn’t own a TV. But they knew that no matter what morality they tried to instill upon their children, it would be undone by the power of osmosis from watching TV. I grew up addicted to TV, now I hardly watch it. No network television at all. I can’t stand the idea that I am unintentionally promoting crap just by watching it.
Costas, Jim Gray – your morons. If he doesn’t have a gun they would still be alive? Although you have every right to speak your mind in this country, An NFL game isn’t the place to spew your political BS. I think we have all heard enough of that over this past election. Look at the facts on people that have pulled guns to save lives. Why don’t you ask OJ what he did without a gun. I will no longer watch NBC shows with costas involved
Way to go Costas.
Your politically correct rant with no basis in fact has just cost NBC a whole lot of viewers from its dwindling viewer base.
A single live microphone being held by an idiot is more dangerous than all the handguns owned by the entire membership of the NRA.
To paraphrase the great Thomas Sowell: the reason most sports journos could run the world is because they’ve never run anything. Watching the Australian version of S.N.F. via ESPN International I found it interesting that Costas went the anti-gun political statement when this year his segment was always discussing the game with Hines Ward. Now it’s clear why.
I hope Mr. Costas will now continue this save-America theme by educating the masses around the world on how to eradicate Americans committing suicide at a rate of one every eighteen minutes, and the loss of around 805 lives every week on US roads. Ban cars, buses, bridges, knives, rope, medicine, fertiliser, fishing, Maureen Dowd?
Hmmm, prohibition on guns? Luckily, Australia is protected somewhat from illegal guns by border fences known better as the Pacific and Indian oceans, but for United States? The turnstile border fences ain’t gonna cut it! After Oz substantially strengthened gun laws after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 (35 shot dead, 21 wounded) where there was no one to shoot back at the mentally deranged killer, all hell broke loose with Melbourne gangsters.
http://aussiecriminals.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/carlwilliams_webofevil.jpg
No legal guns, no problem.
Banning all automatic guns did nothing to quell violence of cretins who were enamoured with Hollywood’s “Goodfellas” and an aversion to working for an honest living. Oh wait, there is another I left off my Costas’ banning list – Hollywood.
So there, literally ban everything – yes, check out the numbers on deaths while rock fishing – and you too can live in a Leftist Utopia.
Me owning a gun would not stop a man that wants to kill. We ALL know that criminals with guns obtained them illegally, for the most part. This man had some serious problems, so took the easy way out. And, Bob Costas is, & always HAS been, a disgrace. He’s as bad as Bryant Gumbel was.
Oops, I meant me owning, or not owning, a gun won’t stop a man that intends to commit murder. And, I have yet to hear anybody yelling about outlawing bows & arrows & knives!
Jason Whitlock and Bob Costas demonstrate their ability to repeat the nonsensical arguments of corrupt poseurs who make their living attacking constitutionally guaranteed rights.Their words mean almost nothing, their actions,if there are any, mean even less.Who really cares what a witless, barely grammatical scribbler and a diminutive grown up who has spent his life spouting vague witticisms and boring statistics think about issues more important than they will ever be?We will still exercise our rights, they will continue to whine, and the world will still turn.Maybe, just maybe, more people will be wise enough to cancel any paper Whitlock defames with his shallow words.Maybe more people will turn off the spectacle of grown men playing,or even just talking about,a game that’s always been more fun to play than to watch.
And the poor man who hanged himself at the Browns facility? Now we need to ban rope too?
Mr. Costas is ignorant and willfully so. I am sure he knows that responsibility comes with that microphone.
Amen,I could not have said it beter myself. Mr. Costas lost what respect I had for him by opying to turn a mental & possible physical health-related murder/suicide into a chance to espouse his viewpoint on gun control. No doubt he has armed security provided by his employer NBC and enjoys a very protected environment for himself andf his family where he lives due to being paid a very high salery. God bless you for being so fortunate as to earn a hugely handsome living Mr. Cosatas, but don’t pretend to think you have any clue what the common man deals with on a daily basis — you have NO CLUE. Until such time as Mr. Costas and his family moves out of the well-protected from the masses glass dome neighborhood they are fortunate enough to live in, and gets back to a 24/7/365 real life existantance like most of the rest of the working class citizens live in, he should continue to keep his massive NBC-paycheck guilded tongue firmly planted up as far up his employer’s backside as possible, and his multi-millon dollar opinions to himself. As to NBC’s role in this , I will vote by changing my viewership to any other channel available and by not buying or supporting any of programming sponsors that choose to advertise on NBC, and in particular to any program Mr. Costas is connected with on NBC.
When will Bob Costas be dropped for uttering politically controversial remarks on a nationally televised football game, just as Rush Limbaugh was? (Yeah, right. I thought so.)
His diatribe begs the question, why does he have armed bodyguards? Is he special, more important to require that type of protection, while railing to have us stripped of our second amendment rights and left defenseless? Idiot!
Bob Costas anther liberal asswipe! I will not be watching this moron again!
So Bob, that theater incident awhile back in Denver, would you include that in your reasoning? yah see Bob, some of “US” prefer to have our weapons does it need repeating-for self defense? !!!—, unfortunately we were not in the theater that night!
The day the political class threatens the 2nd amendment-is THE day the political class had better arm itself!
Check your “6″
Please, besides his hair and make up, tell me again what it is that Bob Costas does or has ever done?
Mr. Costas is mis-informed. The F.B.I. data shows the muder rate is down the last 6 years while gun ownership has climbed. The problem here if people cannot control their urges then put them in prison or execute them (Belcher took care of this for us), but do not disarm the rest of the public that use guns responsibly and for their own safety. http://dailycaller.com/2011/09/28/gun-crime-continues-to-decrease-despite-increase-in-gun-ownership/
I think I heard someplace that Harry Reid and Costass gave each other syph.. of the butt hole..
So give him a break, his brain is infected with the bacteria strain dufous-liberactus-pilori.
I recall when some pro player shot himself in the thigh with a pistol carrying “illegally” in a NYC bar. I called his lawyer (very prominent in NYC circles), and told him how he could get the dumb ass off. Lawyer says player isn’t interested in fighting it because he was told if he did NFL would never accept him back. He was to simply apologize and accept his punishment, or no future payday His payday was worth more than his freedom, and his right to keep & bear. That’s why our country is so screwed up. No one willing to take a stand. I recall my jaw hitting the floor when the lawyer told me this. I couldn’t believe someone would want to go to jail.
