In a surprise, the Des Moines Register, Iowa’s largest and most influential newspaper, has endorsed Mitt Romney for president. The paper endorsed Obama in 2008:
While the editorial praised both Romney and Obama, the decision ultimately came down to one question, the newspaper stated. “Which candidate could forge the compromises in Congress to achieve these goals? When the question is framed in those terms, Mitt Romney emerges the stronger candidate.”
According to the announcement, the editorial board, which enthusiastically endorsed Romney ahead of the state’s Republican presidential caucuses in January, had “a vigorous debate” over which candidate to choose for the November election.
While “Romney has made rebuilding the economy his No. 1 campaign priority,” the paper stated, “the president’s best efforts to resuscitate the stumbling economy have fallen short. Nothing indicates it would change with a second term in the White House.”
The editorial board said the country needed a “renewed sense of confidence” in the economy. “That should come with Mitt Romney in the White House.”
Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, complained that the paper’s endorsement “didn’t seem to be based at all in reality.”
I guess it depends on what your definition of “reality” is:
“It was a little surprising to read that editorial, because it didn’t seem to be based at all in reality — not just in the president’s record, but in Mitt Romney’s record,” Cutter said. “It says that he’d reach across the aisle, which he’d do the exact opposite. It’s the exact opposite of what he did in Massachusetts.”
This proves Ms. Cutter’s idea of “reality” is a little off the wall. The Massachusetts legislature was 85% Democrat when Mitt Romney was governor. Considering all of his accomplishments, just how does Ms. Cutter think Romney got anything done? Unlike Obama, Mr. Romney is not blessed with Lightworker powers and was forced to work with a Democrat legislature to pass his legislative program.
Romney was endorsed by four major newspapers in Iowa today:
Cedar Rapids Gazette: “Gazette Endorsement For President: Romney”
Des Moines Register: “Mitt Romney Offers A Fresh Economic Vision”
Quad City Times: “Ready For Change”
Sioux City Journal: “Mitt Romney: He’s The Change America Needs”

In a World already possessed of a surfeit of nasty lefty shrews, Cutter is a uniquely nasty lefty shrew. They must have a new factory where they produce the blonde version of the nasty lefty shrew. I wonder if this model is to replace the standard purse-lipped, messy-haired brunette nasty lefty shrew or is to be employed in addition to it.
I wonder how Shakespeare would have suggested taming this shrew?
He’d hire her. She is an extreme version of the political operative. They will generally use any means to win. In this case, she is willing to completely embarrass herself. It’s up to the candidates to keep these amoral operatives in line.
I’d suggest a few years of bringing in the harvests on 1000 calories a day. If she lived she could apply to have her citizenship restored after, say, ten years.
He would have taken her to Saudi or Thailand, and sold her to the low bidder; a certifiable sociopath and sadist.
Cutter’s a piece of work. All that vodka and blow the night before her tv appearances…tsk, tsk. Although it was is delightful to see Cutter and Axelrod squirm on the Sunday shows this morning, the public just ain’t buying it!
Axelrod and Cutter are the living proof that the loons and the criminals are in now in the White House. This is the reality that the rest of the world sees everyday!
And who can forget the third leg of that trifecta, Jen Psaki?
And even some of the media is now actually beginning to man up and do their jobs……………….too bad they didn’t do it before the 2008 election and we might not have had to withstand the last 4 years and had this man spend 6 trillion dollars and flip the middle east into a bunch of Israel haters.
Between Wasserman-Schultz and Cutter, what must women think about the Fraud’s choice of spokewomen. Throw in Pelosi, and it’s stranger than strange. The Hildabeast looks sane compared to that crew.
In general, I’m no fanboy of republicans, but the characters on the republican side don’t approach in any way the democrats’ cast of fools and liars. In a lot of ways, the Fraud is actually the best of the lot, and he is just a con man coward and congenital liar with a past that is under lock and key. After him, starting with Biden, Reid, Schumer and descending from there, it’s mind-boggling. Boehner, Mitchell, et al aren’t people you would want to spend a lot of time with, but their biggest problem is that they are too wishy washy, not that they are foaming lunatics who begin lying before they open their mouths.
Very well put. Thanks for summing it up so elegantly.
In very pack there is a joker, but the Dem’s pack is full of it!
Well put, WEO; jive turkeys like BHO shuck, wag and wank “on da conah”; but are absolutely incompetent at anything beyond busing and mopping.
Agree completely, Stephanie is a nasty piece of work. Is she auditioning for her own show on MSNBC? (not sure that is fair to them)
She is a talking rectum dressed up as a woman. A woman without a soul or a clue
I have experienced Staphylococcus, I mean Stephanie Cutter several times and have obtained all the usual symptoms (boils, rash, etc) — all symptoms caused by a Staph infection — sorry, I mean a Stephine Cutter viewing.
Seriously though, I have never found myself reacting to a person this much in my life. I find this woman truly reprehensible. And it’s not the little snarl permanently etched into her face — and in a way I hate taking such a petty swipe, especially when there are so many, far more legitimate reasons for being repulsed by her.
Her being in non-stop attack mode, her using the strongest language at every turn. She’s like having the volume of an infomercial turned up all the way. In short, she’s intolerable.
And I know if I have this kind of reaction, then the country must be filled with others. She’s not merely “assertive” — she’s aggressive and caustic — in that sense she’s like an amplified version of the president.
She make no attempt to mollify the rough — strike that — rusty-razor edges of her personality in order to engage the listener and attempt to convince based on the merits of her argument. She seems to be motivated simply by a desire to “win” whatever the immediate local “battle” she’s in at the moment.
Just like her boss in the debates — all “win on points” (and loose the war).
She’s really pretty much the standard leftist front group or union apparatchik or lefty lawyer. In their native habitat, they all act like her. What’s different about her being in her role with Comrade Obama is that they usually don’t let people like her have such a public role. They put the ones that can fake human out for the res publica to see; the Cutters are reserved for organizing and inside government stuff and dealing directly with “safe” elected and appointed officials or occasionally for storming in and trying to intimidate elected and appointed Republicans or wavering Democrats.
I dealt with Alinsky disciple/Meany School trained union reps every day from ’88 until I retired in ’06; they’re as predictable as the night following the day if you deal with them all the time. Since only people inside their organizations or inside governments, mostly inside safely Blue governments, ever see them, they don’t know what to make of them or how to deal with them. The unions and other front groups have whole cadres of nice, smooth, avuncular even, PR types and lobbyists to deal with Republicans and regular people. They’re not being affectionate when they put their arm around your shoulder; they’re feeling for the soft spot. When I first saw Comrade Obama at the ’04 Convention I said, “I know you; you’re the one they think they can pass as human.” Hate to have been so right, but he’s not perfect; he lets the mask slip and if he’s pressured he reverts to type and I’m willing to bet the F-bombs turn the air blue. I’d love to go toe to toe with Cutter and in my younger days my mission in life would have been to fill her full of tequilla and try to pound her through a mattress.
But as to the rest of your comment: Wow you sure paint them as real lizards! I mean, I know *nothing* about this entire group of people that presumably you do know. I’ve been a techie / music person all my life and thus, I suppose luckily, removed from lawyers and PR types (and certainly politicians — I’ve never met one in my life).
But I’m perfectly willing to believe what you say — and it’s depressing frankly. But, as a reformed liberal and now hard core “neo-con” I wonder if the Left cannot say the same thing as you about us on the Right? But perhaps you’d say that due to the sheer numbers involved with unions, a creature of the Left, while there may be some Right-wing types like this, there aren’t nearly as many(?)
I don’t know, I’m just fishing here…
What the Republicans have is far too many car salesmen/real estate salesmen types who really don’t believe in anything but getting people to “buy” them; Republican is a flag of convenience to these people. OK, people will buy me if I say I’m for lower taxes and smaller government, so I’m for lower taxes and smaller government. Trouble is, they don’t have a clue what kind of policy and legislation gets you lower taxes and less government so they go back to making a sale to their “friends” across the aisle. If you want to truly vett a Republican candidate ask him/her if they’ve read “Getting to Yes” and if they believe it is applicable to public policy. If they say yes, you might as well vote for the Democrat because the Democrat is going to eat that guy’s lunch and sleep with his wife.
What a compelling depiction of political professionals. I’ve known a few of them (I live in a state capitol) and can, from experience, affirm your portrayal of these humanoids.
And I do not use a term like “humanoid” lightly or metaphorically. Campaign operatives and their adjuncts have a very limited set of thoughts and emotions. Their one purpose or ambition is simply to promote the career of a person who is only slightly more human than they are. Politics is everything to them. It is the only thing. They are the very embodiment of the twisted notion that “the personal is the political.” Ask one of these vermin if they’ve read a novel or poem for pleasure, or if they’ve ever been to the opera, or if they have ever partcipated in an intense discussion of philosophy. The answer is invariably no.
Just look at Cutter. Her resume boasts that she is a real one hundred per cent ace at writing “talking points.” This is just another way of saying that she is a subliterate buffoon with no aptitude for real thought.
The factory template of the “nasty lefty shrew” was Molly Ivins — now roasting in hell along with her gal pal, Ann Richards.
Dadgum it why did you have to go and ruin a perfectly beautiful morning here in Texas by mentioning those shrews?
Stinking drunks both of them. I would be shocked to learn that the devil even had room for them in hades.
Both of those “women” were embarrasing to ANYONE from Texas.
Yeah, but … At least Ivins had a wicked sense of humor, the archtypal nasty, lefty shrew has exactly zero sense of humor. I must admit that I’ve used Ivin’s line about if a particular political figure were any dumber we’d have to water him twice a day more than once.
No more Affirmative Action presidents. Ever!
No more racist Attorney Generals. Ever!
No more Welfare Queen first ladies. Ever!
No more Obama-boot-licking MSM. Ever!

“No more Affirmative Action presidents. Ever!”
No more Affirmative Action. Ever! Racism is racism, period.
Maybe SCOTUS will do the right thing if John Roberts doesn’t get another wild hare idea that the Court’s reputation is more important than the Constitution.
Roberts believes that if the Court’s reputation goes south there’ll be no Constitution.
Roger Taney and Dred Scott couldn’t be reached for comment.
Is this a woman who is entrusted with lying, deceiving and then trying to not make us laugh when her lies and deceptions are played back to her and she still denies them, citing sort of who are you going to believe the tape of me saying these things, or me denying that I said what I said
She is quite the epitome of the party.A bunch of loons and criminals.
Clearly, Stephanie Cutter is a loyal operative in the Ministry of Truth. Yes, we are living in an Orwellian nightmare. I wrote about that here: http://clarespark.com/2012/10/27/melville-orwell-doublethink/.
Funny thing though is that this white, piece of trash political prostitute will be thrown overboard fast should Odummy lose. And only MSNBC will hire her. She has no life after this. None. Well maybe Soros could use her…emphasis on use her because that is what Valerie Jarrett and Odummy are doing. Using her.
These endorsements are a big deal, not because newspapers influence many people anymore, but because FOUR endorsements probably indicate a mood swing in the state.
Iowans are probably the most informed electorate in the country. Romney should win Iowa.
The Des Moines Register had this to say, “Both President Barack Obama and Governor Romney are superbly qualified. Both are graduates of the Harvard University Law School who have distinguished themselves in government, in public service and in private life.”
Based on their evaluation of Obama’s qualifications and achievements, I’d say this is definitely NOT reality-based.
I wonder if the Des Moines Register seeing the writing on the wall and recognizing the bad financial consequences of endorsing Obama have taken this decision as a pragmatic step out of their dilemma?
“Rats” leaving ship after seeing iceberg in the offing.
Hey, if you’re going to give steak to one of the dogs, might as well throw a bone to the other so he won’t feel bad. In fact if Obama is as great as they are saying, but they still gave the endorsement to Romney…
As an Iowan, all I know is that The Des Moines Register leans far enough left that it walks in circles. This endorsement has me so surprised that I’m still reeling in the cable to get my jaw off the floor. I’ve never heard of a Democrat presidential candidate too unqualified to get the Register’s endorsement. Last time the Register endorsed the Republican was Nixon in 1972. Even I wasn’t old enough to vote then.
Makes my conspiracy sense tingle. As left as the Register is, I don’t think they’re in favor of a fascist Democrat regime. Maybe they’re a little spooked by Obama giving complete control to the Feds in a crisis, preparing a shadow military, and arming them with a billion hollow points and sniper rounds. Especially when there are groups promising uprisings if Obama’s defeated.
Maybe they don’t want to be the ones to blow the whistle on Obama, but maybe they don’t want to back an American Reich either. It all seems quite odd, and you’d know what I mean if you’ve read the Register for 40 years.
So the “obama shill” that has been living beyond the farthest fringes of reality says the Des Moines Register endorsing Romney is not based in reality? Beam her up, Scottie. This is almost as good as madonna getting a chorus of boos when she touted obama during a concert in L.A. and some of the concert goers walked out.
There’s some sort of competition between her and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to see who can get away with the biggest whopper.
When I want a take on reality, I’m not going to rely on one of Barack Obama’s vestal virgins.
… or check the NYT endorsement. That’s a heavy dose of “reality” right there.
I dunno’ — maybe Putin has promised Steffy a lifetime supply of Stoli.
Democrat women have always been funny to watch with their self-righteous victimhood. But this one is integrity challenged too: She is reminescent of the Commies during Stalin’s era who continually changed their tune on Moscow’s policy changes.
Come on people! What kind of political operative would she be if she said anything other than the nonsense she did? It’s ok to make her the butt of jokes for getting involved with Obozo’s Circus, but she is only doing what she was hired to do? She is pretty funny.
By the way, what effect are her comments having?
Every time I see her lately she sounds like she’s on coke or meth or something, talking a mile a minute and saying the most ridiculous things which often have nothing at all to do with the question she was asked.
Have to agree and you can put wasserman-schultz and that jenna girl with her. Whoever made them part of the team needs to be fired. They sound like drones or zombies, who will not shut up.
Now, it may be legitimate in “war” for the each side to pontificate to their own that the other side is a brand of complete idiot whom they simply could’t fathom to be in power, but come on. Conservatives have Obama’s failed record, his abandoning of his wanna-be messiah rhetoric, a list of scandals, a list of embarrassments; but what do Democrats have that gives them the friggin audacity to try to paint Romney has some kind of outlandish choice for president? Democrats simply have no prudence, no humility.
And you know what, I am really surprised at the way Obama allowed his campaign to be run. I really thought this guy was some sort of evil genius, but it turns out he’s no genius. All he had to do was lie about his failed record and the media would have backed him up. But, no, he attacks Romney’s character, his record. What a dork.
How can Democrats not admit that Obama was purely a crapshoot on their part? There was NOTHING, outside of his “soaring” rhetoric, that could have made anyone think he was fit to run the most influential nation on the planet.
Oh, but the answer is quite simple.
A “progressive” is always right, even when he’s wrong.
You want the Second Most Perfect Doctrine Of All Times (pbuh) to admit they were wrong?
Seriously.
Don’t forget a healthy dose of white guilt aided by the coolness factor of being with it enough to vote for him aided by the minority pack mentality.
And just who are the these white idiots always standing behind Odummy during his oral prevarications? I mean really. Talking about not facing reality. How many different ways has Odummer said he hates white Americans and yet there they are. Will it take a truck full of NBP beating them up before they wake up, or are they the stupid masses that the left loves to keep on the plantation?
Any guess as to how many milliseconds it will take for ol Steph’s head to explode after she realizes her boy has lost the election?
I’m still trying to recover from Russell Crowe’s endorsement of Obama as “the light”
Can we right-wingers have just one actor to respect?
Read “Et Tu Brute” at:
http://john-moloney.blogspot.com/
Can’t we right-wingers have a single actor to respect?
I’ll stick with Eastwood.
Why do you want celebrities to endorse a candidate? Most of them have no better than a high school education and Obama-esque narcissism. I’d rather have the endorsement of my barber than Russell Crowe. At least my barber spends time discussing the issues.
Russell Crowe’s endorsement of Obama as “the light” has left me gutted.
Can’t we right-wingers have a single actor to respect?
See “Et Tu Brute” at:

It would seem for a long time now, President Obama’s team strategy is to lie about everything that has to do with Romney. Whoever is running the show over there has no idea how to compete. They (Obama’s team) think that the majority of the people in the USA are ignorant and will not do their homework and see that they lie on a daily basis. The reality is Obama and his team failed to lead us in a positive direction, its time to give Romney a chance.
Stephanie Cutter is a posterchild for the Left’s relativism. For the Left, all truth is relative, and so there can be no reality. When reality does hit a Leftist in the face, he/she denies that the reality is real. Not for nothing did someone once say that to be a Leftist is to have a form of mental illness.
Stephanie Cutter isn’t based on reality.
Stephanie Cutter is Debbie Wassermann Schultz with hair straightener.
Romney Rep. Peter King: Presidential Kill List “Totally Constitutional”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6GQr8m5cOY&feature=player_embedded
It is perfectly constitutional, and either you believe that or you think an infantryman needs to get a guilty verdict from a jury before they pull a trigger.
And you may such an idiot.
The rest of Iowa’s major newspapers must be suffering from the same delusions. They’ve all endorsed Romney.
Postmodernism and Saul Alinsky: the US cannot survive with these two in our society outside of a Funny Farm.
Reality? Reality to them is rainbows, unicorns, and pixie dust. One world hand in hand like so many clones off to Starbucks in windmill propelled cars.
Ouch, shut down, made to run garbage out of her own mouth, but Stephanie Cutter does not mind it. How does that happen?
Answer: She has a habit of this sort of thing. Just making a name for herself, so she can be a famous TV star. She doesn’t care what anybody thinks of her, or says about her. As long as they are talking about her precious little selfie. In the end, it’s all about the next paying job.
- I’m Stephanie Cutter, and I approve this message
Let me translate Ms. Cutter’s comments:
They’re, like, totally wrong, y’know? I mean…really? This endor…endorsence, uhhh…edors, uhhh….support for Romney is sooooo bogus!
I think Obama should tell Cutter to “Stand Down”.
Then voters should tell Obama to “Stand Down”.
Look at it from the far side.
Stephanie Cutter may end up being Obama’s replacement once all the facts come out on Amb. Stephens death.
One thing going for U.S. is that she could not do any worse.
Bright side of anything some say.

Alex,
Clint Eastwood is the one who got Obama’s head all messed up, after that stand up in your face “fu” by an old white guy, Obama rage took over and all these nutty mistakes cam on the heels of that.
So, yes there is one star that did the job, thats all it took, this ten horn know nothing commie Democrat folded like a cheap discount store on sale made in china pup tent.
This story must be incorrect, because Bill O’Reilly assured us that the Des Moines register would endorse Obama, and you KNOW he’s right. Just ask him.
Then too, Juan Williams was on the Bill O’Reilly show and he looked straight into the camera and said, “Well what Stephanie Cutter just said makes a lot of sense to me and Bill I’m sure you would agree.”
Unbalanced Fairness.
I hope Pres.Romney never goes on O’Really’s show. Pack sand Bill.
There has been an inordinate number of papers nationwide breaking with their longstanding tradition of automatically supporting the Dems offering. My observation is that also network commentators and newsmen are showing unbelievable signs kindness to Mitt rather than Obama. Even the debates were not tainted with the expected favoritism for the Dem candidate. There are just oo many signs that a big snowball is about to overtake and flatten Obama just before the finish line.
Listening to her is like Finger Nails across a Chalk Board, I can”t say for sure, but she is a little More Obnoxious than Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz, these Liberal talking Heads are Like Lying Kathy Chatty Dolls!
She needs a good schtupping. Send her down to Tahrir Square for a reality check.
The truly sad thing about Stephanie Cutter (apart from the fact that she willingly does campaign work for a living) is that she is bloody terrible at her job. How many people have been persuaded by this woman’s nakedly insincere flackery? I know a lot of liberals who think her obnoxious and stupid. She’s the worst hack I’ve ever seen. Worse than Terry McAuliffe. Worse even than Dick Harpootlian. She’s really bad.
And somehow I doubt she’s even a genuine liberal. She’s merely a partisan Democrat. Ask any committed lefty who reads the Nation and The Stranger what they think of Stephanie Cutter, and they’ll probably tell you she’s a poseur.
I forgot to mention: Cutter performed so badly on John Kerry’s behalf in 2004 that a lot of the MSM types who care about the careers of campaign workers (ie, morons who write for blogozines like Politico and The Hill) speculated that hers was over. Luckily for Cutter, Teddy Kennedy gave her a job out of pity, thus resucitating her career, and enabling her to claw herself back into presidential politics, where she has performed such stunning prodigies of campaign strategy in the service of Barack Obama.
Come the middle of next month she’ll no doubt be enrolled in beauty school.
What a mental image: Ted Kennedy “resuscitating” her career. At least she was lucky enough not to go on a road trip with him.
LMFAO.
I grew up in Connecticut. When I was 12 my dad (who grew up in Brookline) took me on an ‘educational’ trip to see the infamous bridge over the Chappaquidick River. He insisted that I know what a complete beast Edward Moore Kennedy was.
The irony of my old dad’s anti-Tedness is delicious: Uncle Teddy recommnded him for matriculation at Colorado Springs! I suppose some people may think dad owes a debt of gratitude to the Three Hundred Pounds of Condmned Veal (Gore Vidal’s words, not mine), but furthering his education doesn’t mitigate EMK’s moral culpability in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.
“Come the middle of next month she’ll no doubt be enrolled in beauty school.”
Experimental cadavers don’t “enroll”.
Because none of the issues matter to her and she has no heart, she will ruthlessly maintain some position in Democratic campaigns. She is a survivor is the relentless, eat-the-hearts of your fellow survivors sense. It’s a shame that such people exist.
I grow weary of Cutter and her lying voice annoys me. She’s like the annoying little nat that flies around you and won’t go away!
Obama and his minions have said over and over that he has worked night and day to get this country back on track. Well, if working night and day and getting these enemic results means we should try something else. Not only our economy but our freedoms have eroded. Maybe all of our ancestors would be better off in their country of origins. And what gets me too is that many black people have come out and said they are voting for Obama because he is one of them, a black person, even coming right out and saying it. But if whites came out and said they were going to vote for Romney because he is white and one of them, then we are called racists. I am getting sick of this double standard. He even said on one interview if he regretted spending the first two years on Obamacare instead of the economy and jobs, he said absolutely not……Does this sound like someone we want to be around for 4 more years.
hopefully all these lefty loons will be gone after Romney wins in a landslide.
We’ve known she is willing to say anything! If Ted Kennedy resuscitated her career? Now we know she is willing to do anything! I can’t imagine Debbie Wassermann-Schultz being good at anything!
If there’s anyone who has NO concept of reality, it’s the vile, LYING strephanie cutter, PERIOD!!!!!!
