According to Chairman Issa’s statement, Wright’s testimony is important because he “played a critical role in making decisions about controversial loan guarantees that largely benefitted political supporters of the Obama administration.”
The statement adds that emails show that Morgan Wright was involved in an “organized effort within the Department to use his non-official email account to discuss loan decisions as part of an intentional effort to avoid scrutiny and disclosures under federal laws.”
Update: Wright’s refusal to testify could result in a contempt of Congress charge, according to Rep. Issa’s statement.

So what are the consequences for his refusal to appear? Can Morgan Wright be arrested?
Or does Issa sent out another “strongly worded” statement?
If this works like Holder, they go to a federal court and get a contempt of court ruling. Then he goes to jail. I’ll believe that when I see Holder go to jail, though.
Actually, after the court hearing, the matter gets turned over to the Justice Department to prosecute on behalf of the Government. Holder isn’t going to authorize his own prosecution.
Do the charges close with the end of this session of Congress?
If not, I wonder if they can be investigated by the following administration?
If it works like Holder, won’t he get an Executive Privilege “get out of jail free” card?
And what police force enforces the will of Congress? The Injustice Department?
It’s time for some lines in the sand, and some sand in the men.
Haul his a$$ to the pokey!
Why should he worry? Holder still has power. Nothing to worry about delay delay delay.
As Walter Sobchak says: “Am I the only one who gives a sh*t about the rules around here?”.
The list of people to be pardoned by Obama just before he leaves office is up to twelve single-spaced pages and counting.
Laws are for us little people, not Democrats, especially those in the Obama regime.
In all fairness, contempt is the correct term for my opinion of congress. Perhaps we should rename the crime of failing to respond to a subpoena.
It’ll disappear. He’s a Democrat so will suffer zero consequences. There is NO Justice Department anymore. And the public will hear nothing from the MSM. It’s over folks!
Time to issue executive privilege again.
Once the truth comes out after the election when Romney is elected, can Obama and Holder be thrown in jail, or do the laws not apply?
The Romney-Ryan Administration needs to go after these law breakers. Purge the ranks of government of all the embedded libs and start fresh.
Yes and No;
Underlings go to jail, to discourage future transgressors, But the ex-POTUS walks.
it should be very interesting next year when president romney takes office. the bad stuff these guys have been doing is very bad indeed. no respect for the law at all. dead bodies everywhere. handing out tax $$ to friends. that’s theft. fraud. screw congress. and no telling what else. nobody is supposed to be above the law. that’s not how we roll in this country.
barry knows he can’t afford to lose, so he will pull out all the stops (cheaters are us = dems). once honest men come to power (if romney can find some) heads will roll. according to what i remember of the law (ethics) course i took in college, fraudulent activities require a return to pre-fraud conditions. those fuzzy documents and obi’s past are a big pile of hooey, and smart people know it.
yep, it should be vellly interesting next year.
“Wright’s refusal to testify could result in yet another demonstration of impotence.”
Fixed that for you.
Wright’s behavior is not just Contempt of Congress: It’s contempt of democracy and and contempt for the rule the law. I wonder when he’s going to run for Mayor of NY.
Does that mean that Wright has to give some of the money back?
