Reuters is reporting that President Obama is picking up a more significant lead against Mitt Romney in the polls, even after that horrendous jobs report, released after the Democratic National Convention, that showed unemployment fell only because more people have stopped looking for work.
I’m sure many of you have reached the point where you simply don’t know what to say anymore. The president could come out on stage riding a unicycle, juggling pink rubber balls, circus whistles piped in on the loudspeakers, and tell everyone that unemployment is actually zero and, by the way, he’s spending another trillion dollars on failed companies and non-existent infrastructure. The press wouldn’t bat an eye; instead, they’d fact-check a claim by Romney about how he ate a Big Mac in 1988, when he really ate a Quarter Pounder (they have the old wrappers in a New Jersey landfill to prove it)! Then they’d note that Paul Ryan once wore a tie that was the same color as one worn by George Wallace, so that must be coded racism!
If these numbers hold true and Obama wins reelection, we’ll have to bury once and for all the phrase “the good sense of the American people”.
For the first time in my adult life I’m ashamed of my country. Actually, it started 4.5 years ago when it became clear that a plurality of fellow Americans, (including nearly everyone in my Hollywood neighborhood, most of my friends, and everyone in my family) were actually buying into this lying charlatan’s crap. I would chide all the students canvassing my neighborhood (who wre always suspiciously doing it during school hours, it seemed) and say “You’re campaigning for an anti-American and a Communist”, and they’d earnestly assure me that if that were true, there’s no way they’d support him…
Four years later, with all that has passed, all the gaffes, the blunders, the catastrophic mismanagement of the wars and the economy, the fact the guy isn’t incarcerated on high crimes leaves me in utter shock.
Well here’s the thing, for me it started – OMG, it’s nearly 20 years ago now, when it was clear that a plurality of my fellow Americans (etc) were actually buying into that other lying charlatan’s crap, and that he was going to get away with it all. And he did.
Yet the country did reasonably well overall in spite of things.
But that was then, and if anything it’s the other way around now, we could elect a fine patriotic, highly qualified American, and it may be the country is doomed to social and economic problems for the next twenty years, anyway.
I dunno.
Well, it smelled pretty bad under Carter, and under Nixon, and we slogged through. Still, there are too many aspects of this, in the shadow of the Clintoon years and even having Bubba himself on TV lying his ass off the other day, that say what you’re never supposed to say: this time it’s different.
One positive point to remember, though, is that that other lying charlatan 20 years ago never received a majority of the popular vote. Even then, most Americans weren’t buying the crap he was selling.
Polls are part of the propaganda machine of the subversives.
Let’s keep working hard, talking with people, denouncing the lies, attacking the regime.

You guys are far too pessimistic. The campaign is really just starting. Obama does have a very solid floor to his base but the folks that were swayed by the Dims hokey convention will just as easily be suggestable by Romneys marketing. If, in three weeks the polls look bad, then it may be time to worry.
I have not been a fan of Romney, but I do think he knows how to run this game.
I see that the Democrat misinformation is working.
Are the Democrats acting confident? No. They are acting scared.
So, we have a “homeland security” establishment with a scope and resources that the Gestapo would have envied. We have the USDOJ running criminal enterprises. We have allies of the Administration in unions, front groups, and other coordinated entities seemingly immune from law enforcement. We have an administration that openly says that it rewards its friends and punishes its enemies. In that context, when the phone rings and it is a number you don’t recognize or which has been faked or hidden, are you going to tell the voice at the other end of the line that you don’t support that administration?
Teflon is a protective coating, Obama is hermetically sealed from critique.
He’s not Teflon, he’s the bubble wrap President.

As a reminder, it took ten thousand years to crack the last one. It didn’t happen until 1776, ten millenia after civilization was created after the last ice age when humanity took up agriculture instead of nomadic hunting. The same kind of charlatan con men that currrently rule the world and Washington immediately ceased control of the ancient world by declaring themselves gods and consolidating militaries (via bloodthirsty warfare) that common people didn’t have a chance of defeating. The basic structure lasted until the American revolution, with only a handful of fleeting reprieves.

Don’t believe mainstream polls showing Obama with a lead. If he were really ahead, a competent incumbent President should be in the lead by double digits. Obama is not, even in the biased, over-sampled Democrat, leading question, Romney/Ryan-are-the-devil polls that show him leading. It takes all sorts of poll trickery & deception to show Obama to have even a slight lead. America has had enough of the fraud purporting to be the leader of the free world. Obama maxed out his appeal in 2008, and has nowhere to go but down with every group imaginable: blacks, Hispanics, conservative Democrats, whites, women, Jews, Catholics, the young, the military. Moreover, not a single person who voted for McCain in 2008 will vote for Obama this time.
