“Mitt Romney would put the middle class on the roof and take us for a long, painful ride,” Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said, referencing the story of when Romney put the Irish setter’s kennel on the roof of the family car for a road trip.

Republicans, she said, are “throwing in the towel on our middle class and we are not going to let them do it.”

“It is my job to keep the Senate in Democratic hands.”

Murray warned Democrats that if the GOP got control of the White House and of the upper chamber, they would end ObamaCare, “end Medicare’s guaranteed benefits,” and “decimate Planned Parenthood.”

“Give this president a Democratic Senate and he can get results,” she said of President Obama. “Republicans may have given up on our country’s middle class, but this president never has, Senate Democrats never have, and together we never will.”
