Barack Obama is Not His Brother's Keeper

President Obama is fond of using the Genesis story of Cain and Abel to guilt the wealthy into being their “brother’s keeper” and pay more taxes. Here’s an example from April of this year.

OBAMA: Looking out for each other. That’s a value. The idea that we’re all in this together, that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper, that’s a value!

But Barack Obama has an actual brother, George, who lives in Kenya. According to Dinesh D’Souza, Barack Obama is not George Obama’s keeper at all.  I won’t quote it. Read the whole astonishing thing. George needed a sum of money that Barack, a multimillionaire, could easily have provided, but George knew Barack would not provide a cent.

I’ve long thought that Barack Obama is as cynical an operator as we have in public life. But Dinesh’s story is still shocking and creepy.

On a side note, Obama’s use of the Genesis story gets the point backward. When God asks Cain where Abel is, Cain knows where Abel is because he murdered him. God also knows where Abel is, and that Cain is his murderer. God knows that Cain knows where Abel is, but asks Cain about his whereabouts anyway. Cain answers, sarcastically, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” defiantly toward God while pretending not to know where Abel is. Another way of looking at “keeper” in this context is “jailer” or “minder,” maybe “babysitter.” If you look at Obama’s policies, “jailer”  and “babysitter” get pretty close to explaining why Barack Obama is so interested in that story that he keeps repeating it about strangers, while never lifting a finger to help his own brother in Kenya.
