In his talk, Ryan was all substance, avoiding cheap campaign shots yet repeatedly bringing the audience to their feet by making clear, powerful points about energy independence, the need to deregulate, fiscal soundness, the difference between a culture of self-reliance and one of dependence, and the doctrines of Natural Law and the Declaration of Independence. That’s right, he spoke about Natural Law and the origin of rights to a campaign crowd, and they got it. In fact, along with his discussion of energy independence, it was one of the two high points of the event. I can’t remember when I’ve seen a candidate address a mass audience at such a high level and pull it off. But he did.
Previously, the support of many Colorado Republicans for Romney had been primarily based on the fact that he wasn’t Obama. With his speech today, Ryan did a lot to change that.

Voters in every state need to Google two things to find out who Obama really is, what his visions really are for our country, and what tactics he has been using to reach his goals. Those two things are Frank Marshall Davis and Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.
Obama’s mentor in Hawaii from when he was 10 years old to 18 years old was Frank Marshall Davis, a known communist/Marxist. Davis was a card-carrying communist and a community organizer in Chicago for several years. Then the party sent him to Hawaii to continue his communist activities. In Hawaii, Davis was a friend of Obama’s grandparents, and they had Frank Marshall Davis mentor him.
Obama spent 10 years being mentored by Davis. Davis was a community organizer in Chicago, using Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Obama eventually went to Chicago specifically to be a community organizer and learned how to use Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.
Obama titled his book, Dreams From my Father. When Obama was 10 years old, his father went to Hawaii for about a month and then returned to Kenya. That was the only time Obama met him, so the title of his book makes no sense.
What makes sense is that Obama has been fulfilling Frank Marshall Davis’ dreams of communists taking over our country. This election isn’t a choice between Democrats and Republicans. It is a choice between a man who believes in communism and two men who believe in keeping our country free.

It was written in 2008 during the presidential campaign, in an effort to warn people about what Obama was really doing. Four years later, this article has proven accurate in every single respect.
“Borderline-Personality-Disorder people” – I actually know someone who has been diagnosed with this disorder and you are correct Obama fits the profile. Especially the outrageous lies, misrepresentations, blaming others etc.

I knew that senator Obama had a fair chance to become president since early 2008, when I saw the “Obama girl” video. I knew that it was not a random thing by a crazed fan. Indeed it revealed a well-planned move to propel Obama to national attention. Before that, nobody had heard of Obama. When the history of Affirmative Action is written, Obama and Fareed Zakaria will be mentioned by name as psychopaths that played us like a violin.

Three key factors have lent themselves in romney polling low in favorability, outside of the fact that he’d be lucky to be called a ‘moderate’ republican.
1. He was groomed, or manufactured, for political office.
2. He is as bland as a low sodium saltine.
3. He is a mormon.
#3 is tough for some to accept, but we are talking about a marginal group among catholics.
ex. bush’s net take on the catholic vote in 2004 was 1.5 million, 27% of the electorate. obama’s net total on catholics, at 27% of the electorate in 08, was about 3.4 million.
yes, kerry was a catholic, but bush wasn’t a mormon…
ryan fixes this in no small way. my gut is that ryan can get a 2 million net on catholics, with a high density centered around the midwest.

As a Catholic in NY, with LDS relatives in CA, I don’t think Catholics care one way or another about Mormons (even if the Pope doesn’t honor Mormon baptisms). But churchgoing Catholics are very upset at how Obama has given their church the back of his hand. Outside CA and the SW, most Catholics are ethnic conservative to moderate Democrats, even Reagan Democrats. R&R should do very well with them.

I live in Wisconsin (not a native or in Ryan’s district) but have followed Ryan for some time. In my view, Romney’s selection of Ryan was a true stroke of genius. The man is extraordinarily knowledgeable, grounded and articulate. He will be a major positive asset to the Romney campaign and those Republicans in D.C. who doubt his ability to attract votes will learn something. Ryan has at least 10 I.Q. points on Obama and 20 on Biden. He is probably up a few on Romney, too, and I know about these matters.

Biden is dumber than a box of rocks. Not only did he get caught plagerizing in the 88 campaign, he got nailed for it at Syracuse Law School and had to beg not to be tossed out of school. Attribution and citation are basic fundamentals that get drilled into you in law school. Biden flunked application of those basics in a writing exercise. His recidivism in 1988 shows just how dense he really is. He graduated 63rd in a class of 65.

It’s not all that long ago that politicians actually made arguments in their speeches. JFK, FDR, Goldwater. Go farther back and read Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address or Second Inaugural. Pols used to treat the voters as adults, then they stopped, maybe it was the electronic media needing 10-second soundbites, or the professional consultants telling the candidates to not risk actually saying anything–I don’t know the cause, but if the pols treat people with a litle respect it may go a long way to earning them respect (and votes) in return. Looks like this campaign will be a good experiment, one side (D) is all demagoguery and lies, supported and amplified by the media, the other side (R) will be trying to advance arguments (about which you may agree or disagree, but still, arguments) with the media trying to ignore them.

They do NEED however to coordinate their messages going forward because if they don’t the media will use this to confuse and confound the citizens. A good example is the differences between the Ryan Budget and Romney’s plans for medicare reform. Another is the “energy discussion” when Paul Ryan said he favors an “all of the above” approach. Sorry as taxpayers we are tired of flushing good money down the windmill and solar rat hole. These differences are not life threatening to the campaign at the moment but the differences need to be ironed out ASAP or the MSM will make their biased attempts to sow more seeds of discord within the RNC and their base. The good news is that conservatives and republicans are not running a timid and hide from your shadow campaign but rather are appealing to right thinking patriotic common sense Americans that it is time to step up and do the right thing. These problems can be solved but time IS running out!!

I might be expounding on what youre already saying, but that quote is no liability or conflict between them….I dont mind an “all of the above” energy approach, as long as we dont have an F.B.F.T. (Federal Boondoggle Feed Trough) everywhere. If a candidate can make THAT distinction, and defuse the medias “the Republican guys aint even on the same page” meme, then its all good.
I’m OK with any supplementary power sources that are viable and cost-effective being, *ahem*, “encouraged”, perhaps with MODEST tax incentives for private manufacturers and technology developers. Like, maybe with a slight drop in the Capital Gains Rate on investments in “energy technology”? Like, maybe with a slight cut in the Corporate Tax Rate of such companies? You’re not handing out other peoples money that way, because the government never “pays” for a tax cut. They just let the owners of the money keep a little more than before….No one loses in that game, and we might actually get somewhere with real energy technology gains.
But the current system of straight up paying people to grow corn nobody otherwise wants, and mandating manufacture of expensive ethanol (at huge net loss) because there is NO MARKET for it, is total freaking nonsense. Never mind just dumping tons of money into a solar plant…Let THEM risk THEIR OWN money, just let the chance of keeping more of THEIR OWN PROFIT be the carrot.

Wow . This US election is shaping up to be the entertainment highlight of the decade. I am going to have to stock up on popcorn. I do not have a horse in this race obviously but from my perch this Ryan fellow should be president not vice-president. However other than conservative blogs and Fox I do not see any positive coverage of the Republican side. My suspicion is that Obama (peace be upon him) will win since the majority of the populace will either not follow the issues and debates or will swallow the biased coverage. This is a concern to me as US issues have a lot of influence on events in Canada.
I wouldn’t be too concerned with the voters yet. They start waking up a month before the election. Although, I would be very concerned about election fraud that Holder & ilk are putting in place.
I think the news coverage is starting to shift. The first articles were probably already written when Ryan was chosen, and predictably held up the liberal narrative with wide-ranging attacks. However, now that the facts are starting to come out on Ryan, including the fact that most senior citizens SUPPORT his plan for Medicare and that he’s drawing record-breaking crowds, the reporting seems to be changing. It’s as if the media is actually taking time to evaluate him and he’s not the fiscal bogey man at all. Just a smart young guy with a plan.

I think Ryan resonates with the voters for two related reasons-
People KNOW Medicare, Social Security, the national deficit and debt are all creating a perilous future for every single one of us, yet Congress continues to fiddle away with petty infighting while Rome burns. Ryan has the guts to come up with a plan. That alone shows he’s serious and thoughtful and willing to put the needs of the country before his own instead of just being another congressman with an eye on re-election in a congress whose popularity has reached an all-time low with the American public.
And they are NOT ready to become Europe and are NOT ready to cede the American dream to China. Americans are still Americans after all, and regardless of color or socioeconomic class they want to prosper and (perhaps more importantly) see their children prosper, too. They realize that government, while necessary and important, is more of an impediment than a benefit at this point in time; and they see the incredible waste of their tax dollars at every turn.
Romney intuitively understands these things about the American people; Ryan gives him the ability to solidify that nebulous knowledge and turn it into a real product the people can get their hearts, heads and hands around. In these uncertain times when we all feel the ground shifting beneath our feet, it’s hard to underestimate the attraction of having a foundation.
I find a lot to like about Ryan, even though his budget proposal left defense spending untouched. In a time of annual trillion dollar federal deficits in D.C., the country can afford neither the massive entitlements we have nor a gold plated military.
For those outside of Colorado who think that this state will now automatically fall into the Republican column via Ryan’s selection……….like the old HBO show, “curb your enthusiasm.” Republicans have some down ticket issues here that may drag the entire ticket down.
A big problem is that the “bedroom police” are back with another try at passing a “personhood amendment” to the state constitution. Lost 73-27% in 2008 and 70-30% in 2010. Now we’re seeing Repub congressional candidates backing away from past support of personhood (Cory Gardner, HD 4; Mike Coffman, HD 6; Joe Coors, HD 7). Two sitting Republican congressmen (Coffman, and Tipton, HD 3) are in tight races due to re-districting and really don’t need this mill-stone to be hung around their necks.
One disturbing item about Ryan is that he was a co-sponsor for what has been called the mandatory ultrasound bill. If passed, would require that a woman seeking an abortion would have to get a mandatory ultrasound, regardless of whether the woman & her family want it or her doctor doesn’t think it’s needed. That sort of “big government in your face” doesn’t play well here in Colorado.
Colorado state House is likely to go back to the Dems; they need just one seat to re-take & will retain the state Senate; thanks to a civil unions bill that the House Repub leadership bungled & royally fouled up. In addition, several reasonable Repub state legislators lost in the primary to far right candidates, which now allows Dems to paint them as “too extreme for Colorado.”

Moronic. Abortion, which appears to be the one and only thing liberals will go to the mattresses for, does not happen in the bedroom. It happens in an abortion mill. The notion that an innocent third party — an unborn baby — should be consigned to a macerator because two supposed adults were unwilling to take cheap, simple precautions is the quintessence of evil.
Just in case you’ve spent the last fifty years in a coma, we have quite a number of inexpensive, easy-to-use contraceptive methods available today. There’s absolutely no reason a sex act must eventuate in pregnancy. But liberals will trumpet that “bedroom police” nonsense at the drop of a feather.

I gave you a quote 1+ years ago from the acknowledged founder of the modern conservative movement, the late Senator Barry Goldwater……..”abortion is not a conservative issue; it’s a matter between a woman and her doctor.”
Your response was that Goldwater was wrong. I then visited your blog. Obviously, you feel strongly about abortion as a religious issue. Goldwater didn’t share your religious views and neither do I. As for availability of contraception, the Colorado personhood proposal, if passed, would ban certain forms of birth control. In addition, various religious right groups actively work to limit access to contraception. I wasn’t in a coma during the Republican primary season; but maybe you missed the thoughts on contraception from Rick Santorum.
My point remains the same: the Dems will inject Ryan’s religious views into the campaign (he’s also sponsored a national “personhood” bill). And given the history here in Colorado; we’re basically a “live and let live” type of state; those religious views may be a big drag on Republican candidates. Those views cost us Repubs a US Senate seat in 2010.

Its not (necessarily) a religious view, it’s simply a moral view…and true, a few Conservatives have fallen into the trap before, and will I’m sure again..
But everyone agrees it is PREDOMINANTLY a Liberal verses Conservative argument, and the basic immorality of Abortion a Liberal must defend is:
Why does one who arrived full term to enjoy their life as best they can, feel its appropriate to deny THE VERY SAME to their own child?
If you truly believe YOUR body is absolutely sacred and inviolable, 100% secure from the approach of any other entity or interference, then WHEN exactly did YOUR body became YOURS?
Its just a level of “me first” selfishness that’s unseemly and indefensible. Everyone knows where life begins, everyone knows a pregnancy is not a disease, its another human life evolving the same way all of us have.

And if and when that “99% effective” contraceptives you provided me with fail (like, the 101st time I have sex?) then the baby will pay, with THEIR life, because mine is too fun and important to be interrupted by someone elses needs.
Oh, and “giving it up” for adoption wont work either….it just re-enforces the spectacle of my selfishness, me walking away from a child, so I cant do that. Just kill it so I can keep having fun, and wrap it up in some flowery language about “freedom” to assuage my guilt.

Yes, the personhood issue does hurt. Really bad timing. There are always those in either Party who go for the Holy Grail whenever they see a chance, or think they do.
However, I am not sure that an ultrasound requirement is a deal killer. It is simply requiring that the patient gets all the information about having an abortion. Certainly, the abortion places are not all that interested in costing themselves money by talking a woman out of it, right? Consider it to be consumer protection against conflict-of-interest doctors.
The only reason it is being proposed and opposed, is that it really works. When women see the ultrasound, oftentimes, it hits them, and they decide to keep the baby. Nothing wrong with that, either, right? No harm, there. She gets info she did not have to help with her decision. And it is info the doctors were not interested in providing her.
We have all kinds of standards for medicine, some required by government, and others required by the AMA. Shoot, I cannot even get a broken filling replaced without an X-ray, so why not a similar thing for a abortion?

Really, nothing wrong in making sure the patient gets proper information and care. I mean, the goal is not really to promote abortion, right? It’s not “Choice”, if the woman does not have all the info necessary to make that choice, right? It does no harm, and the woman can still make the choice to have an abortion, right?

So? An ultrasound is a non-invasive, non-injurious procedure. Though I have qualms about mandating any medical procedure at any time, the law already does so in numerous other cases– e.g., juvenile vaccinations, blood tests a requirement for marriage licenses, various “public health” regulations — so I’m inclined to shrug.
On the other hand, I have strong qualms about a woman murdering her unborn baby without at least looking at his shadow first.

Ultrasounds are not necessarily non-invasive. The one proposed in the Virginia bill was invasive, and my understanding, same for Texas.

Amazing that a Durango couple made the 6-hour trek to hear a conservative in liberal outpost, Denver. Durango was once ranch-country conservative, but it’s filling up with year-round on-the-dole hippie skiers living in shelters and shopping in thrift stores. I’m hoping that Durango couple came home and spread the good news about our next VP.
The USA is going to need level headed, no nonsense leaders for the next 20 years to fix the mess that the skirt chasing, communist democrats caused. I think as always, it will take a generation to fix.
