House Dem Congratulates His Cousin's Hubby for Becoming Romney's VP Pick

A Blue Dog House Democrat today congratulated the husband of his cousin, Janna Little Ryan, for becoming Mitt Romney’s running mate.

The wife of House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is the niece of former Oklahoma governor and Sen. David Boren, who is the father of Rep. Dan Boren (D-Okla.).

“Janna and I grew up together and I couldn’t be more proud of my cousin,” Boren said. “Like my late mother after whom she is named, Janna is a wonderful parent to their children and will be Paul’s strongest supporter on the campaign trail. Paul has a firm moral compass and has always approached his job as a congressman with diligence and honesty.”

One of Boren’s two children with his wife, Andrea, is named Janna, as well.

“Having many friends on both sides of the aisle, he is an effective and talented leader,” Boren continued in his praise of Ryan. “Although we belong in different political parties, I see Paul as a friend, a fellow hunter, and most importantly, a family man.”

Boren and Ryan are both members of the Sportsmen’s Caucus.

It’s likely that the Blue Dog might help Ryan on the campaign trail, as the Dem who only votes with his party half of the time chose not to run for re-election this fall and has been critical of President Obama.

Janna Little was a tax attorney in Washington when she was introduced to freshman congressman Ryan. The two became engaged after about a year of dating, married in 2000 and have three children. She’s a graduate of Wellesley College and George Washington University Law School.
