Central Texas Chick-Fil-A Sees Ten-Fold Increase in Business Today

Chick-Fil-A may not represent “Chicago values,” but it sure represents central Texas values. I ventured out to a Chick-Fil-A off 183 north of Austin, TX, this afternoon. I could not believe what I saw. I’ve been to this Chick-Fil-A before, but have never seen it crowded to the rafters like it is today.

The crowd brought a kind of party atmosphere to the restaurant. The kids’ play area was full, as the line in the dining room snaked all the way around, dozens and dozens of Texans patiently waiting to order.

After surveying the packed inside, I stepped back outside to take a look at the line of cars waiting to order at the drive-through. That line snaked all the way around the restaurant and out into a neighboring parking lot shared by other fast food restaurants.

I spotted a pair of Chick-Fil-A employees standing in the Texas heat, handling the drive-through. I struck up a quick conversation with this one, whose name is Erin.

Despite the heat, Erin was very friendly and enthusiastic as she took orders from the customers. Erin was scheduled to be off today, but this morning the store called her in. The store called in all of its employees who were supposed to be off, to deal with the huge increase in business today.

I asked Erin how today compares with the average Wednesday. She guessed that her Chick-Fil-A was seeing an increase in business by a factor of ten. It has been this heavy all day, and shows no signs of letting up any time soon.

The leftist thought-police boycott of Chick-Fil-A has failed, spectacularly. The only downside: It was so crowded that I didn’t have time to get lunch, and the Chick-Fil-A spicy chicken sandwich is one of my absolute favorites.

When hippies boycotted Whole Foods because its CEO opposed ObamaCare, I became a customer of the high-end grocery store, and in the three years since that boycott Whole Foods’ stock has gone through the roof. Now, lefty intolerance is driving a huge business increase to Chick-Fil-A. Maybe lefty boycotts are the key to getting American business back on its feet.
