The bill, filed Monday by a pair of blue state Democrats, would require reporting of bulk sales of ammunition to law enforcement. It would also require photo ID at the time of ammunition purchase. The Democratic sponsors, Sen. Frank Lautenberg of NJ and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy of NY, filed the bill in response to the mass shooting in Aurora, CO on July 20, 2012.
