Michelle Obama to Campaign Supporters: Things Coming 'That Will Make You Shudder'

Giving her standard campaign stump speech in Albuquerque, N.M., yesterday, first lady Michelle Obama warned 107 donors at a picturesque ranch that things will happen in the race for the White House that could make them “shudder.”

Tickets for the event went for between $1,000 and $2,500 a head, and it was the final stop in a four-state tour for Michelle Obama this week that included Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.

“So know that with every door you knock on — truly — with every call you make, with every conversation you have, you have to remember that this could be the one that makes the difference — truly, every interaction. You could be the one who inspires that person to make their voice heard this November,” she said, adding that’s why the campaign spends “so much time and energy on our grassroots folks.”

“And I will say what I said before — this journey will continue to be long, and it will continue to be hard. That is guaranteed. And there will be twists and turns along the way, things that will make you shudder,” Obama said. “But the truth is — please, remember this — that is how change always happens in this country — always.”

She added that she’s “convinced” the Obama campaign “will do, this time, what we did the last time” because of the grass-roots.

“It is time for us to get to work.  It’s time for us to roll up our sleeves and multiply ourselves, and understand the difference that we can make,” Obama said.
