Biden: 'We're Not Cocky About this at All'

Vice President Joe Biden outlined the reasons why he thinks he and President Obama will beat Mitt Romney in the fall at a Phoenix fundraiser today, adding, “We’re not cocky about this at all.”

He also said that Romney would not have gotten Osama bin Laden.

He told the Arizona crowd, paying at least $500 a head at the Heard Museum, that the Democrats are not assuming that the state will go Republican, noting “you’re going to see organizers here,” according to the White House pool report.

Biden said that grass-roots campaign efforts can counter the multi-million-dollar “carpet-bombing” by the GOP campaign.

He lauded the president on the usual campaign stump points such as the auto bailout and the killing of Osama bin Laden, and added that the president knew the Wall Street bailout would be among his unpopular actions. “That would be like legalizing rattlesnakes in the lobbies of hotels in Arizona,” Biden quipped. “That’s why I love this guy.”

“I’ve got a bumper sticker for you. ‘Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive.’ Neither of those things would be true had Romney been president the last four years,” Biden added.

The vice president said this year represents “the starkest choice of any presidential election in my memory.”
