A Nation of Mean Girls

I listened yesterday as Rush Limbaugh made his apology to Sandra Fluke with disgust and anger. I understand Limbaugh’s reason for doing so, but I think to apologize to a mean girl and her posse is political suicide.  Remember the movie Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan or Rachel Simmons’ book Odd Girl Out that discussed female bullying? The basic theme is that girls use verbal aggression to harm their target. Well, now the left side of the political system is one big mean girl and they even have Rush Limbaugh cowed. That’s no small feat. The mean girls of today, like Sandra Fluke and her comrades, buddy up with the mean girl groups like Planned Parenthood and the Democratic Party to isolate and bully their targets into submission. Limbaugh fell for it hook, line and sinker. And not only did he fall for the mean girl routine and apologize, but he let the left use his morality against him: somewhere Alinsky is laughing. After all, didn’t Limbaugh just fall for his fourth rule? “Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this…”

According to Wikipedia:

He later attacked his critics claiming: “I acted too much like the leftists who despise me. I descended to their level, using names and exaggerations. It’s what we’ve come to expect from them, but it’s way beneath me.” His apology itself has been criticised and rejected by Fluke as well as some commentators, politicians and businesses who have continued to pull their adverts.

There are many conservatives who unfortunately allow the left to take their morality and use it to stifle their dissent. Limbaugh should have gone on the attack. He should have said “no apology” and exposed her for the partisan hack that she is. Do I care if Fluke fucks 50 guys? No, but I do care if she uses her position to gang up with other mean girls (and guys) to ram a political mandate down the throats of companies who do not believe in what she is peddling.

Standing up to mean girls is hard. I am in the process of writing a book on men’s attitudes towards marriage and society and it is damn hard to get individual men to be interviewed. If I ask questions on the internet or in an anonymous setting, I am flooded with comments from men. I recently had over 3200 men answer a poll about paternity fraud, but try to get just a few men to talk in person? That’s tough. And most are very concerned that their name will not be published. I don’t blame them. The mean girls are out in society in full force.

If Rush Limbaugh can’t stand up to the mean girls, who can?
