Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) appeared on America’s Radio News today to discuss President Obama’s “recess” appointments, recess put in quotes because the Senate is not actually in recess. Hans A. von Spakovsky has noted that the Senate has in fact done business during the pro forma sessions, further weaking the White House’s argument that the president is allowed to deem the Senate in recess in order to allow him to make appointments without obtaining the Senate’s consent. Sen. Barrasso says the president’s actions will spark court challenges.
