Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics publishes the count for the New Year. Israel’s population stands at 7,797,400. That includes 5,874,300 Jews, 1,600,100 Arabs and about 323,000 defined as others. For some perspective, upon independence in 1948, there were 650,000 Jews in Israel. Today there are more Jews in Israel than there are Danes in Denmark, Norwegians in Norway, Finns in Finland, and Irish in Ireland.”In 2010, the Jewish woman had an average of 2.97 children, the highest number since 1977.”
