Dinner with Barack!

Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States, wants to have dinner…with you! His folks pushed out the following mass email today.

Friend —

I’ve set aside time for four supporters like you to join me for dinner.

Most campaigns fill their dinner guest lists primarily with Washington lobbyists and special interests.

We didn’t get here doing that, and we’re not going to start now. We’re running a different kind of campaign. We don’t take money from Washington lobbyists or special-interest PACs — we never have, and we never will.

But, wait. Zombie’s exclusive look at a recent West Coast fundraiser guest list says Obama does bring in the high rollers…unless you consider Stevie Wonder and Will.I.Am to be just regular folks. And I seem to recall that Obama recently opened up the White House itself to Wall Street figures he usually calls “fat cats.” And who attended his big Florida fundraiser this week? Not me, and not you, friend. Not with ticket prices as high as $2,500 a pop. Obama brings the Heat.

President Barack Obama urged Democratic donors at an NBA star-studded Coral Gables fundraiser to get out the vote and boost Democrats, telling them that his election “was only the beginning of the dream.”

Obama spoke at the Biscayne Bay home of former Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning, who was at the event along with Miami Heat players Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and former L.A. Lakers and NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.

But hey, this event is different. Right?

We’ll pay for your flight and the dinner — all you need to bring is your story and your ideas about how we can continue to make this a better country for all Americans.

This won’t be a formal affair. It’s the kind of casual meal among friends that I don’t get to have as often as I’d like anymore, so I hope you’ll consider joining me.

Mom jeans and Slurpees, hoorah! How do I get my name in the proverbial hat?

But I’m not asking you to donate today just so you’ll be entered for a chance to meet me. I’m asking you to say you believe in the kind of politics that gives people like you a seat at the table — whether it’s the dinner table with me or the table where decisions are made about what kind of country we want to be.

It starts with a gift of whatever you can afford.

Please make a donation of $5 or more today, and we’ll throw your name in the hat for the upcoming dinner…

Isn’t this otherwise known as “pay to play?”

For the record, I don’t object to Obama tapping wealthy donors for campaign cash. I do object to the transparent lies about it.
