Lies and the decline of the League of Women Voters

The story about military vet discrimination by the Election Assistance Commission here at Pajamas, which I tattle below, has another rather stunning angle.  EAC Commissioner Gracia Hillman is also accused in the piece of lying to Department of Labor investigators about her statements (which were tape recorded) that demonstrated discrimination against a job applicant because he was a Navy reservist.  Whether or not this is a criminal offense under 18 U.S.C. 1001 I will leave to criminal lawyers.  Hillman used to be the executive director of the League of Women Voters of the United States.  The LWV is not merely the neutral organizer of debates many presume it to be.  Over the last decade and more, it has injected itself into controversial election debates, always taking the side of the most partisan Democrats.  Most recently, the LWV compared a new Florida law to combat voter fraud to “Jim Crow.”  Reasonable discourse is no longer in the LWV playbook.
