Democrat Dick Durbin wants to tax internet shopping

Tax. Spend. Repeat. It’s what Democrats do. Especially the taxing. And the spending.

That Durbin is calling the tax hike the “Main Street Fairness” bill just puts the cherry on it. Durbin’s claim, that brick and mortar stores in Illinois lose out to out-of-state ‘net companies solely because there are no taxes charged on those transactions, is bovine excrement. Most brick and mortars nationwide have robust internet sales in place, to the point that there’s little if any difference between a brick and mortar store and an online store. They either sell through their own websites now, or through larger sites like Amazon and ebay, or all of the above. It’s been that way for years.

If Durbin really wants to help Illinois businesses, he should focus on his own state’s idiotic liberal policies. Jacking up personal income taxes out the wazoo is counterproductive, to say the least.
