Ohio hunters donate ‘more than 500,000 meals’ to food banks

NBC reports:

“Officials say enough venison for more than 500,000 meals has been donated to local food banks by Ohio deer hunters during the 2010-2011 hunting season.”

Hunters donated about 2,500 deer, the most since the program began in 2007. Processing costs were shared by Ohio’s wildlife division, hunters, and farmers.

The state uses this program to “help control deer population.”

Meanwhile, PETA has not contributed any. They are highly successful at controlling pet populations, however. According to the Telegraph, PETA “has euthanised more than 20,000 pets in the last decade”.
