BESTIALITY! (I thought that would get your attention)

I’m a fan of Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, Arizona.  He has a no-nonsense approach to prisons, to the law, and to who is in charge – him.  He has been constantly referred to as America’s Toughest Sheriff.  He keeps getting re-elected.  There has even been rumors of a Senate run, now that Sen. John Kyl (R-AZ) is stepping down.

But today, I think he may have made a mistake.  Reported from the Washington Times, Maricopa County detectives arrested two men on charges to commit bestiality.  It seems that the two men in question (and perhaps many others around the nation) are using the popular service CraigsList to facilitate meetings with…well…animals.

Sheriff Joe stated that CraigsList is providing a “…mechanism to facilitate criminal activity.”  And followed up with:

“I would hope that (Craigslist CEO) Mr. Buckmaster takes my advice seriously and looks into our concerns…I think it is sad that people would utilize technology to take advantage of animals like this.”

CraigsList isn’t the issue, and CraigsList isn’t providing a mechanism for criminal activity.  Many millions of people use CraigsList each and every day in full compliance with the law.  I have used it in the past six months to find a new home, buy a car and sell a ton of crap that other people seem to adore.

Let’s go after the criminals….not the website.
