Austin Police Chief Acevedo supports law-breaking?

The Texas legislature is currently considering an immigration law where police would be allowed “to help enforce federal immigration laws”.

Unlike Arizona’s law, there is no mandatory requirement for cops to pursue enforcement of federal immigration laws. However, it does ban sanctuary cities. Which is where Austin’s Chief Art Acevedo comes in.

Austin is a sanctuary city. This means Austin has a mandatory requirement that officers don’t check immigration status.

This is curious, because federal law states that illegal immigration is indeed a crime.

What do you call it when a police chief publicly supports breaking the law?
