Flashback: Liberal talk show host chauvinistically mocks WI's Lt Gov, makes fun of her cancer

Until today those of us outside Wisconsin hadn’t heard much about the battle there from the state’s Lt Gov, Rebecca Kleefisch. That changed with an appearance on Fox News this morning, an appearance in which Lt Gov Kleefisch acquitted herself very well. She forcefully backed Gov Walker’s stand on the union bill and effectively argued that, yes, this battle is actually about balancing the state’s budget.

Here’s something else that those of us outside Wisconsin probably didn’t know: Kleefisch was diagnosed with colon cancer before the 2010 primary, disclosed the diagnosis in September, and has simultaneously gotten elected to a major statewide office, fought cancer, and is now in the midst of this budget/union battle. Any one of those might overwhelm the average person.  Well, add to these three battles, an extremely hateful and hostile media in Wisconsin. Here’s how liberal talk show host John “Sly” Sylvester, on Madison’s WTDY radio, treated Kleefisch just over a month ago:

“SLY” SYLVESTER: How amateurish is it to have Rebecca Kleefisch, who, I don’t know, she has some like little panty business in her basement or something, I don’t know. She’s hardly a, she’s hardly an entrepreneur. You know what? You know how amateurish that is? Cold-calling?

(Using high-pitched voice, speaking as Kleefisch)

‘Would you like to move to Wisconsin? Would you like to move CouponCabin to Wisconsin? I’m Rebecca Kleefisch. I performed fellatio on all the talk show hosts in Milwaukee. And they endorsed me and that’s how I became lieutenant governor. And then I got colon cancer and I ran around the state to help people. Even though I have government health care, screw everyone else.’

CRYSTAL McKENZIE: You know, it looks like she’s wearing a wig because I know she’s going through chemotherapy right now, so she may be….

SYLVESTER: I don’t think that. That is her TV… that’s vapid hair.

McKENZIE: (Laughing) OK.

SYLVESTER: That’s her vapid hair.

McKENZIE: (Laughing) I’ll take your word for it.

There’s that left wing civility again. Har de har. “Sly” later apologized after trying to make excuses for his boorish behavior, but it is worth asking, where does this scalding hatred of conservative women come from?
