The Dead’s Envy for the Living

What explains, though, the Obama administration’s obsession with a compromise at any cost with the Tehran regime? I have not changed my view of what an Asian leader privately called “America’s NGO president” since I profiled Barack Obama in February 2008:

America is not the embodiment of hope, but the abandonment of one kind of hope in return for another. America is the spirit of creative destruction, selecting immigrants willing to turn their back on the tragedy of their own failing culture in return for a new start. Its creative success is so enormous that its global influence hastens the decline of other cultures. For those on the destruction side of the trade, America is a monster. Between half and nine-tenths of the world’s 6,700 spoken languages will become extinct in the next century, and the anguish of dying peoples rises up in a global cry of despair. Some of those who listen to this cry become anthropologists, the curators of soon-to-be extinct cultures; anthropologists who really identify with their subjects marry them. Obama’s mother, the University of Hawaii anthropologist Ann Dunham, did so twice.

Obama’s most revealing disclosure, perhaps, came in his autobiobraphy Dreams from My Father as he recounts his thoughts while visiting Chicago’s public housing as a young community organizer:

And yet for all that poverty [in the Indonesian marketplace], there remained in their lives a discernible order, a tapestry of trading routes and middlemen, bribes to pay and customs to observe, the habits of a generation played out every day beneath the bargaining and the noise and the swirling dust. It was the absence of such coherence that made a place like [the Chicago housing projects] so desperate.

He deeply identifies with the fragile, unraveling cultures of the Third World against the depredations of the globalizing Metropole. So, I suspect, does his mentor and chief advisor, the Iranian-born Valerie Jarrett, and most of his inner circle. This goes beyond the famous declaration of Jimmy Carter’s advisor Hamilton Jordan—“the Palestinians are the n****ers of the Middle East”—and Carter’s own mainline-Protestant reverence for the “holy men” of Iran’s 1979 Iranian revolution. It goes beyond the post-colonial theory of liberal academia. For Obama, it is a matter of personal experience. His father and stepfather were Third World Muslims, his mother was an anthropologist who dedicated her life to protecting the traditional culture of Indonesia against the scourge of globalization, and four years of his childhood were spent at an Indonesian school. The same point has been made by Dinesh d’Souza, among others.

Obama’s commitment to rapprochement with Iran arises from deep personal identification with the supposed victims of imperialism. That is incongruous, to be sure. Persia spent most of its history as one of the nastier imperial powers, and its present rulers are no less ambitious in their pursuit of a pocket empire in the Shi’ite world. The roots of his policy transcend rationality. Israel can present all the evidence in the world of Iran’s plans to build nuclear weapons and delivery systems, and the Iranians can cut the Geneva accord into confetti. Obama will remain unmoved. His heart, like his late mother’s, beats for the putatively oppressed peoples of the so-called Third World.

No factor of this sort was present in 1938: Neville Chamberlain did not sympathize with Hitler. He simply feared him and needed time to rearm, as the Wall Street Journal’s Mr. Stephens observes. If Lord Halifax rather than Chamberlain had been prime minister then, the parallel to Obama would be stronger.

I do not know how Israel will respond. There are too many unknowns in the shifting political equation of the Middle East to solve that equation. But the facts on the ground support the Israeli view that the Geneva accord puts the Jewish State at existential risk.

David,

Wonderful article, but there is a larger story right now I believe.

Please enjoy this very special occasion of Chanukah falling on Thanksgiving...
Nothing else I can think of could so symbolically represents two cultures, ever intertwined on the side of “Light” and “Thanks”, in the face of so much Darkness and Envy.

It is a moment I hope all here and in Israel will savor, and remember forever!

There will never be another Holocaust for the Jews. The miraculous re-establishment of Jewish sovereignty was not solely through the hand of Man. Israel today is a superpower in every way. Militarily, economically, and spiritually.
We have been a nuclear nation since 1955. We have had the bomb since 1961. No nation in the world has greater facility in this area. The Iranian regime exists today only because we are loathe to use the technology we have. However, if it becomes a matter of life or death it is the Iranians who will be left without a nation.
Obama, the self-absorbed pimp, wants only to delay the inevitable. Grasping at straws to pretend victory once again. Thinking no further than re-electing his cronies and so desperate for a victory to trumpet even a sham one will do. He sees no further than the next election cycle. After that the worlds problems belong to next President.
We in Israel appreciate the support of the many who wish us well and stand beside us. We are here to stay.

David,

This was an excellent article. Combined with Caroline Glick's article today, it lays out the reasons we have to be very, very scared. You correctly identify that no matter what evidence Israel presents, Obama's heart will not be moved. That is something that some of us - thanks to your 2008 article - have understood for a long, long time. The shame that I see is when Democratic Senators say nothing. The Schumer's and Durbin's of the world are absolutely useless and they are moral cowards. Many of the Republicans (outside of Cruz, Palin, Santorum and Bachmann) are just stupid. And AIPAC - Obama played them like fools over the Syria episode and has made them, along with other American Jews, who correctly understand Obama's hostility, appear to be warmongers acting against American interests. This is long term damage that Obama is causing to American Jews. Meanwhile it is Obama who is actively opposed to American interests: He has sided with a totalitarian, supremacist enemy of the U.S., and has lost of course not just American ally Israel, but the Sunni Arab allies too. Also, Obama, the anti-nuclear weapons guy, has made it much more likely that there will be an arms race in the Middle East. But then, Obama wasn't really against nuclear weapons per se. He was against the U.S. and Israel having advantages over the Muslim Street based on this nuclear weapons advantage.

I pray that Bibi can do something about this. While Bibi has never really acted upon his great words, perhaps he has it in him to defy the American Pharaoh. Perhaps.

I often think of the experimental work of Dr. Calhoun and his rats. He found in the 1960s that colonies of rats, if enclosed and provided infinate food, shelter, etc., would self regulate their population, even if there was no physical contraint except space for doing so. Unfortunately the way they regulated their population was...pretty awful. Populations fell into the behavioral sink - males groomed excessively, or faught needlessly. Females failed to give birth, and when they did, treated their young poorly. Stress, alienation, hostility, sexual perversion, parental incompetence, and rabid violence become the norm. Sound familiar?

Islam will die if we PREVENT their conquest of new territory. They must conquer to survive. Containment will destroy them - we will never have to attack them if we behave wisely. Unfortunately we too are falling into the behavioral sink. The end of history is also the end of us. The only question is which survives - Isalm or the west. We started failing first, but they are failing faster.

Calhoun himself saw the fate of the population of mice as a metaphor for the potential fate of man. He characterized the social breakdown as a “spiritual death”, with reference to bodily death as the “second death” mentioned in the Biblical book of Revelation 2:11.

Spirtual uplift can forstall the spiritual death, for it provides us with the infinate space of heaven to expand into. Alternately we need a space program that is vigorous and focused on colinization, not robtoics.

Can you write an article with a US perspective on the lessons/advice contained in this article ? [http://www.politicsweb.co.za/politicsweb/view/politicsweb/en/page71619?oid=378067&sn=Detail&pid=71616]

The demography-based insight is a profound one. I believe that there is something especially dangerous in Shiite Islam, by the combination of circumstances that saw Persia become Muslim and its Islam intertwined with the Shia rebellion against the Sunni. While many claim that Iranians are not really a Muslim people, and only wait for the moment to throw off Islam, the evidence says otherwise. That their brand of Islam is interwoven with competition with the Arabs - most of whom are Sunni - makes it all the more combustible. It can not be ignored that the US, which essentially had war declared on it by Khomeini 15 or so years before anyone heard of of OBL, has adopted a haphazard policy towards revolutionary Iran ever since. It may be ironic that the invasion/liberation of Iraq resulted in strengthening the regime in Tehran, but it is also a fact. We see in Khamenei's statements, particularly against Jews and Israel, after this junky agreement, that they are merely emboldened.

The agreement is terrible. It leaves them the basis for the bomb, it leaves them a huge number of centrifuges. Now they will be soaked with money - much of which they will use to finish the program. And, almost certainly, they will be importing critical materials with that money. Obama and Kerry have made war a certainty.

My bible study is reading the book of judges. remarkably the pattern there looks very muc like the tytler cycle Here is the cycle
Bondage
Spiritual Faith
Courage
Liberty
Abundance
Selfishness
Complacency
Apathy
Dependence
Then starting over with Bondage

http://www.commonsensegovernment.com/article-03-14-09.html

The period of judges ended with the election of saul against the advice of the prophet samuel. his words of caution against kings is worth re reading.

Chamberlain and Obama were actually in two different situations:

Chamberlain was on the losing end. While he was definitely a fool for trying to negotiate with Hitler, Britain was basically on the losing edge of the delegations between Germany and the UK, outranking them in pretty much everything (armaments, land, negotiations, you name it).

Obama and us in America, however, outclass the Iranians technologically and logistics/supplies wise. His actions are closer to trying to bring us and Israel down. I'm not sure he cares all that much for Islam. After all, he seems to take after his birth father more and is closer to a Marxist, willing to use Muslims if it ensures the spread of Marxist revolution, but otherwise would kill them solely for their religion. Spreading atheism. We must wipe out any and all Marxists, Rousseauists, Leninists, Stalinists, Trotskyists, Maoists, Mihnists, Cheists, and any form of atheistic beliefs if Christianity and Judaism is to survive. The Atheists wanted to have a fight to the death on us since the Enlightenment and kill us Christians and Jewish people off? Well, they're going to get a fight all right.

At this point, considering how we've got nearly the entire population supporting the legalization of Gay Marriage despite it being against God's laws (HuffPo's stats and other news outlets, not to mention all but three people (those three people including myself) in my "Family" class (which I only took because it was one of the few classes available for the Fall Semester for my American Studies degree), and at least one of my relatives supporting Gay Marriage despite her being a Christian herself), the fact that our mediums are promoting immorality thanks to "freedom of speech and the press", the education system basically teaching things like how all we Christians were monsters, and how all Americans were bad during Vietnam, or how most of Europe, possibly here in America, are losing their Christianity every day due to secularization, even after the fall of the USSR, and worse, Communism seems to actually be increasing, and religion is falling, what exactly am I supposed to do? Especially when Jesus's statement that we should turn the other cheek, or if we go by example, his literally surrendering himself and being abused and killed out of love for humanity (his dying on the Cross) has resulted in several of us being killed wholesale. Don't believe me? Just look at how many Christians were massacred during the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the Cuban Revolution, the Cultural Revolution, the Korean Revolution, the Vietnam War/Revolution, the Cambodian Revolution, within the USSR, and in various South American revolutions. They are still getting a lot of popular support. Heck, one of my history professors was unapologetically supportive of the French Revolution, and has proven himself to be quite hateful of Catholics. Even worse, we've got "Christian Socialists" (an oxymoron if there ever was one) like Cornel West who are actively sabotaging Christianity from within. Heck, Antonio Gramsci even laid out the groundwork for infiltrating the Church, so no, I can't even trust conversions anymore. Yes, I'm beginning to sound like an absolute nut, but at this point, I'm not even sure if it matters anymore. If Jesus's teachings did not save us from being massacred at high percentages by the Soviets, the Jacobins, the Nazis (yes, they massacred Christians as well), and various Communists/atheists of all stripes, how exactly is surrendering and allowing ourselves to be killed going to even ensure our survival.

EJ01 - do not give in to despair. The godless Marxists and their bankster buddies are not all powerful. They have to eat, sleep and can bleed just like the rest of us. They DID NOT get the war they wanted in Syria and their 'gun control' in the U.S. and attacks on Orthodox Christianity in Russia initiatives are backfiring.

Then why are they still preaching that we Christians are somehow misogynistic monsters who hated Jewish people, how we actually practiced honor killings, and didn't allow women to become educated until the 1960s, that we held slaves, were genocidal, and the like? I've had to sit through several lectures of this tripe, and what's worse, a few of my fellow students believe this. If there was no reason to give in to despair, all those guys would have been thrown out.

EJ01,

When one considers the futility of the London-New York banksters neo-Bolshevik proxies in Russia (aka P*ssy Riot and FEMEN) hurling themselves against the revival of Russian Orthodoxy and the consequent strengthening of Russian demographics and national identity, I don't think you have to presume all Christian groups are simply going to accept being slaughtered. Neo-Orthodox or at least neo-Byzantine ideologies are on the rise but this hardly presumes conflict between the West and Russia, but rather between increasingly crazed, godless Western elites and a Russian elite that even if it is not personally pious still sees the value of Orthodoxy in national revival -- much like the late Gen. Alexander Lebed and his supporters. Fortunately some of the Soros-funded agitprop to bring Ukraine into the Eurozone RIGHT NOW is a recognition of weakness, rather than strength.

If the Eurocrats and neo-Marxists don't pull Ukraine into their maw soon like they've swallowed Greece and Spain they risk losing Ukraine for good, as the Orthodox East will prove more survivable and fecund than the formerly Catholic West centered around the Russophobic region of Lvov. Eventually even the Greeks who are notoriously corruptable and divided among themselves with finally have enough and restore the drachma or even peg their currency to the ruble after throwing out the Eurocrats and their Quislings in an Athenian revolution.

Here at home, there're plenty of good ole' boys here in the U.S. will fight, and barring the whole population and military submitting to forcible gun control they will have the means to resist. I thank God for example, that today's Obamabot hardcore authoritarian Marxo-tyrants lack the martial fortitude of the Union Army men who imposed Lincoln's will on the South: to state it bluntly, an all-out Civil War 2 is unlikely in these United States because most Marxists are p****s who will crap their pants at the first of their number getting sniped or shot in the face by the pro-Constitution Resistance in retaliation for mass arrests/murders of patriots.

Most likely if the U.S. does have a Second Civil War it will be of the so-called 'low intensity', dirty war variety with blackbaggings and disappearances and State terror met by guerilla resistance and killings. A great number of the upper crust Marxo-Fascists are likely to end up in London after they are purged from a post-Dirty war restored Constitutional Republic or collection of American Republics.

As for the Russians, they have centuries of experience with Muslims, enough to more than match any brutality with brutality. The Jamestown Foundation and its Prometheanist ideology of empowering Muslim radicals from Syria to Dagestan is doomed to failure, due to military, demographic and spiritual reasons. As our esteemed host Spengler has demonstrated the Muslim womb is no an unbeatable 'weapon' and is rapidly losing its fecundity from Gaza to Grozny.

I cannot as an Orthodox Christian endorse slaughter, but I do not have to endorse being slaughtered either as Orthodoxy includes both martyrs who died under the Bolshevik and Tartar yokes as well as warrior-saints like Prince Alexander Nevsky who had the courage to fight the Catholic Teutonic Knights crusaders as well as the Muslim Tartars. My point is, while we should never underestimate what the Satan-directed tyrants plan, they are not invinceable and Satan still must use lazy, stupid, and foolish human servants that have to eat, sleep and can bleed like everyone else to accomplish his ends on this Earth.

What P-ssy Riot did Marc was a 'hate crime' in Western parlance, not an act of protest against a political regime -- they committed criminal trespass and violated the free exercise rights of Orthodox believers. It isn't about protecting the 'feelings' of Orthodox but their basic human right to worship in peace without their services being hijacked for a neo-Bolshevik political stunt.

Had they protested outside Christ the Savior Cathedral or in Red Square (as they did previously) they may've been arrested, but then immediately released. You know deep down MarcH what would've happened had they tried the same stunt in a mosque, or in a ultra-Orthodox yeshiva in Israel, don't play dumb. India just passed a nationwide ban on homosexual sodomy between two adults in private, which Russia does not have, but will we see Jamie Kirchuk or the other neocon hypocrites protesting outside an Indian Embassy in D.C. or Berlin? Of course not. The rainbow flag is just a cultural form of imperialism, an umbrella beneath which to push a Russophobic agenda.

As it is, Germany actually sentenced a person whose protest disrupted the Catholic Mass in Cologne Cathedral to just over a year of jail time, despite the Roman Catholic Church's plea for clemency...to nary a peep from the U.S. It's hypocrisy and lies all around, even without mentioning how Washington coddles the GCC Persian Gulf States with their abysmal human rights records.

http://mattforney.com/2012/08/13/lock-pussy-riot-up-and-throw-away-the-key/

Pretty soon the 'Manosphere' here in the U.S. will be denounced by neocons and crazed Russophobic fanatics as a Kremlin plot, mark my words.

If there's truly nothing to worry about, why is it that the likes of Dr. Richard Palmer, Heather Lucas, Andrew Sullivan (Name's the same), Matt Dolloff, Thomas Anderson, possibly Susanne Anastazi are promoting left-wing things? I've had to endure quite a bit of teachers pushing lots of anti-Christian, borderline anti-American left wing material in their classes, sometimes even moreso than the actual subject they are supposed to be teaching, and even when they DO teach the subjects, they still insert those things into the material. Heck, why haven't they even thrown out Bill Ayers and his ilk from education? Had we truly been doing well, everyone would have made sure Ayers and his ilk were stripped of their "honors" and thrown out of academia, not made into a "honorable scholar" and given time to speak. Heck, one of the listed teachers was responsible for my nearly backing out of Confirmation precisely because of his anti-Catholic/anti-Christian rhetoric (including talking about the St. Bart's day massacre in such a way that implied that us Catholics massacred them deliberately, when it was actually because of our misinterpreting the plan to drive out the Hugeaunauts invading us. Even our pope cried in sorrow when he learned of the death toll).

Also, if Russia is really not succumbing to Marxism or has given up on it, please explain why in 2016: Obama's America, there was a snippit that clearly depicted a statue of Karl Marx still standing in the present day on Moscow's public square (the one where Marx is standing near a chair)? If they truly gave up on Marxism in Russia, that statue would have been destroyed a long time ago in the 1990s.

And your reference to Western Catholicism faltering is not helping matters, because I AM Catholic, and I'm getting very disturbed at the amount of decay in religion. Also, the Eastern Orthodox is not exactly doing so hot either. Greece falls under your jurisdiction, and THAT country... well, it's obvious how not-so-well its doing.

Our host Spengler (like the upper echelons of the Israeli government) has made his peace with the revival of Russia and wants to do business with it. The neocons David has broken with, for their part, will continue to futilely push for proxy wars against Moscow and lose rather than making peace and seeing to common interests. Simply because David vigorously wants the U.S. to stop Iran's nuclear program does not put him in the same league as the Jamestown Foundation folks peddling their fantasies of a peaceful, Western-allied Caucasian Emirate that won't be a source of terrorism and crime for the whole world.

there is a manor difference between hitler and the iranians: there is a State of Israel now, which there was not at the time of Hitler. Israel has an air force and good weapons and good information. i do not know why it did not attack Iran soon after it was discovered that it is working on developing nuclear weapons. they missed a great opportunity, even though the world would have screamed bloody murder.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndFu-UU2V2g

A few other observations:
1) The article assumes that what is occurring to day in Iran will continue. In all likelihood it will get or get worse until the current government falls. That may take another 50 years.
2) Populations sky rocketed in the 20th century because of improved high care amount populations that were accustomed to breeding their farm labor. Now that children are seen as a monetary burden people will stop having them. There is no need to search for moral issues to explain the population drop.
3) My guess is that eventually populations will reach a static level without significant loss or gain as the excess produced by an agricultural societies mindset adjust to new economic realities.

How ironic that, in the same week the West has traded Israel's potential annihilation in exchange for a diplomatic "victory," Hanukka begins. And also how ironic that Hanukkah celebrates the Jewish revolt against the Syrians. Just a few weeks ago the Syrians, along with the communists, were celebrating a big victory over a weak willed disloyal American president.

Well, the Jews need to revolt again, this time for its very survival. The antisemites in the West form a diverse group that ranges from the most obvious, the Moslems, to the secularists, the post-colonials, the globo-socialists, the communists, the whole group in shaky nasty alliance to take over the world and put an end to freedom.

Prez Barack Hussein is their lead man. Bibi is yours. They're thinking about lighting candles in the form of nuclear-tipped ICBMs aimed you-know-where. Bibi today is lighting candles, praying for peace and salvation.

To all Jews everywhere: Happy Hanukkah. May there be ten thousand more.
