If God is capable of striking down sinners with tsunamis and wild fires, why would he need the help of a few wretched mortals to bomb an abortion clinic or stop gay marriage? Sure, it's not the only inconsistency with the 'wrathful god who demands humility and tolerance' paradigm but it's one of the more interesting. Often, the same people who believe that God shows His displeasure by being wrathful also believe that they personally need to enforce God’s will.
