#13 Dan – He’s not being pragmatic. He’s buying time. Yes, he left open the possibility of remaining (situation on the ground) longer, but he’ll eventually declare it “unwinnable”, and bring ‘em home. This is the Vietnam strategy. Give the Generals less than they require, declare it unwinnable, and retreat.

The important thing was his lack of a full-throated commitment. Morale will suffer amongst the troops. Discipline will falter. Incidents will happen. Our allies will rapidly abandon us. All this because we are not truly committed.

He’ll then blame it all on Bush. Been there too long. Fatigue set in. Bush should have won it when it was winnable. It was just too late. Not my fault. Blah, blah, blah.

The MSM will parrot this line. The Left won’t care about the loss. They just want us out. Afghanistan will fall to the Taliban. There will be mass slaughters. Still Bush’s fault.

Won’t help the Left in 2012. Employment will still be in the crapper. Debt will be out of control. 2010 will be 2006 redux, with the Pubs gaining. 2012 will be a replay of 2008, with the Pubs as beneficiaries, instead. History repeats itself, but this time, in very short order. All the dirges sung for the Pubs after 2008 will be sung for the Left in 2012.
