Can Van Jones Create a ‘Left-Wing Tea Party’? Don’t Bet on It
Last February, when he first announced the new movement and no one took notice, Jones said: “We will prevail because — in truth — we are not in a right-wing period of American history, nor are we in a left-wing period. We are simply in a volatile period.” But of course, his claim that his movement is capturing the non-partisan “moral center” is fraudulent. Jones’ movement — or attempt at one — is a far left operation, as can be seen by the demands he raises and the context in which he puts these demands.
So Jones then said, “Let Saturday, February 26, 2011, mark the beginning of the national movement to renew the American Dream and return us to the moral center — where everybody counts, and everybody matters.” Feb. 26th passed, and nothing happened. Now, the date has suddenly changed first to July 23rd and now to August 15th. Whatever the date, we can be sure that Van Jones will fail once again, and perhaps next year George Soros will give him more money to announce yet a new organization and a new starting date. After all, the man has got to do something to earn his pay.
So I end with the image Jones gives to Michelle Goldberg. He tells her that when Obama leaves the White House in 2016, he might have to “block the driveway” to prevent him from leaving. That date, of course, assumes Obama will have two terms in office. So, I look forward deeply to 2013, when the new Republican president takes office, and to watching the capitol police haul Jones off the White House roadway.
That result won’t take a movement — only the electoral activity of the American people, who show by their ballot that they are fed up with Barack Obama.

It has always amused me how these dingbats talk about “power to the people” when they mean “power to the gubbermint.” Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and the rest of history’s butchers – when they talk, it’s about “the people” but when they act, it’s about them. And Van Jones and the idiots in this country, too – somehow taking money and freedom away from individuals and empowering the Van Jones’s of the world with the reigns of dictatorial government is “power to the people”. I guess it sounds a lot better than “power to Van Jones” but it’s amazing that there’s still so many nitwits around who fall for such a transparent con.
Understand that the slogan is really, “power to the People”. The capitalization of “People” means it’s the ill-defined, nebulous, faceless mob, for which the person shouting that slogan has appointed themselves the sole representative. Actual people are not involved, and are more often than not seen as impediments.
The American Dream Movement. Yeah I heard of those guys. Been around for a long time now. Used to be called the Russian Nightmare Movement, or at least that was the result when they put their ideas into practice.
Times change, the world turns, but evil leftists never quit and never learn.
Do you remember stupid, completely dorky and bossy people in elementary school who ineffectively tried to direct everyone else. Well, Van Jones and his modern communist ilk are them.
Yes I do remember those people. Unfourtunately they are now grown up and they haven’t changed!
Unfortunately, they’ve controlled our major cities for decades and our Federal government from 1932…
One of these communists (possibly Saul Alinsky) said “If you rob Peter to pay Paul you will always have Paul’s vote.” Van Jones can’t call it robbery (although he really, really wants to) so he calls it the American Dream Movement. He’ll surely be able to get all of the Pauls and Paulas who are slopping at the entitlement trough to march in goose step for a while.
There is a funny thing about propoganda though; it only works long term with brute force. History proves this to be true. It will be interesting to see how the commies from ACORN will be used in the Amerikan Dream Movement up to the election in 2012.
No “people” has ever been empowered by a government. That certainly includes the pre and post 1991 Russians.
The Islamist playbook also advocates “using the enemies own rules against them”; it’s why the MB can infiltrate this administration so easily. Van Jones is a legend in his own mind, a hack and a useful idiot for the administration and Islamists everywhere. He’s a walking failure just like Ellison.
You know, the Obama administration never, ever, apologized for having hired Jones. They certainly knew about his background and that he was an open communist, yet they not only hired him, but made a big deal about him as well. Valerie Jarrett openly bragged about hiring the man. So the next time anyone, anyone, in that administration denies that they are a bunch of socialists, let alone a bunch of marxists, all anyone has to do is point to Jones. They all make me sick. To think that open marxists can actually serve in the White House is disgusting.
The pimpstream media was silent. When Van Jones finally did resign in the middle of the night, the few that reported it claimed he was forced out due to having been loosely associated with being a 9/11 truther.
Why can’t these commie idiots learn from the massive failure of the Soviet empire? Why do they want and believe that a bankrupt system of collectivism that certainly led to the largest span in history between the so-called “haves” and the “have nots,” deserves another bite at the apple? Oh, wait, it’s because they think they’re going to be among the cadre of the “haves.”
Never Mind!
Why can’t these commie idiots learn from the massive failure of the Soviet empire?
For the same reason ordinary maggots don’t care what killed the corpse they’re feeding on.
So now we’re going to copy the Left and demonize any left-wing movement that seeks to mobilize people?
The Left called the Tea Party “terrorists,” “Nazis,” “fascists,” “racists,” and all kinds of other names. The purpose was to intimidate them out of protesting.
Is demonizing a left-wing populist movement as “Communist” our form of payback? Or linking it to Soros, as the Left has insinuated that the Tea Party is a front for the Koch Brothers?
If so, I’m not going to play. I’m always glad to see ANY law-abiding concerned American citizens going out to engage in peaceful protest to express their point of view. I don’t care whether they’re left-wing or right-wing. It’s our birthright as Americans.
I doubt that a left-wing populist movement can work, because people who actually work for a living don’t want to be led by the Ivy League elitists of the “netroots.”
But let them try. It’s the American way.
Nice straw man. Has anyone said they shouldn’t be allowed to try … and fail?
Life-long conservative, deeply concerned?
Nobody said anything about stopping them. I enjoy a clown circus as much as anybody.
Another Concern Troll; yawn.
Well….Is it “demonizing” to call a self-declared communist a communist?
When you sift through the web pages of what Van Jones is involved with, you see support from and links to socialist and communist organizations– they are not shy about it, either.
As for your joy in seeing “…ANY law-abiding concerned American citizens going out to engage in peaceful protest to express their point of view”, perhaps you should curb your enthuisiasm, at least for the moment. The far left does not have a great history of “peaceful protest.”
I think you are mistaken. No one is demonizing them for “seeking to mobilize people”. People are laughing at them for the latest in an endless series of attempts to duplicate the tea party.
This isn’t demonization, its mockery.
This site has been quite a re-learning experience for this old fella!
Arrogance is an amazing human flaw. Arrogance not only is a ‘sin’ in accordance with the teachings of Christianity, the only exception of course, the Evangelical-TeaParty folks…but a self-defeating flaw!
Arrogance blinds one from all reality. Arrogance defines a rigid self ordained superiority. Arrogance is an easy defeat on any battlefield. Arogance define hypocrisy….especially towards their Christian taught values.
Take a look at what arrogance has achieved for America around the world post WWII. Take a look at how arrogance has corrupted and failed Americas economy and poltical systems. Take a look at how arrogance has divided a nation.
Political, social and religious arrogance is what has brought the nation to this time of peril and nobody better represents this than does the Evangelical, ChristianCoailition-Teaparty followers on this site and around the country.
So says a supporter of The Most Arrogant of all. Nice try.
Your comments make you sound, well, arrogant. It is not a faith based movement but a movement built on the principles of the Constitution. Yes, some Christians identify with as do people of all faiths and lack of faith. So please, become educated on the movement before judging it. Otherwise you show your arrogance.
Also, regarding your second comment, when one is showing ones superiority one should attempt to spell correctly. It is “disparity” not “disperity”. Once is a typo, two is misspelled.
Your very own brand of humility overwhelms us all.
The guy is a communist. He said he is a communist, he hangs out with communists, his websites for his nonsense have all manner of support from socialists, communists and assorted whackos who want to destroy the country. Not “want to destroy the country” as you claim the Tea Party wants to do in your twisted version of history, but destroy the country for real– so they can “transform” it. It is their stated purpose.
Thanks for another chapter of “It’s the Tea Party’s Fault.”
Henry…Thanks for proving my points!
Dee, my comment was for Mr. Humility himself– not you, as you likely realize. (This internets stuff is trickier than it seems.)
Dee…thanks for proving my points!
You have no points. You make up your own “facts”, and I cannot recall a single time when, after being challenged by anyone on your unsubstantiated “facts” and unsupportable theories, you have responded with anything even resembling a coherent argument.
A crystal clear example of your cloudy thinking is “It was a stupid, reckless move bringing our debt front and center to the domestic and global stage!” As if the rest of the world has not been aware that the US is the biggest debtor the world has ever seen. Do you really think this was a secret? Are you so unaware of world leaders’ very public comments about our horrific debt?
So, if that is what you are thanking me for, you’re welcome.
The Democratic Party Plantation is a tag machine ……..the Democratic Party Plantations Headquarters are MSNBC…who’s gusts ex.Gov.Randel & a few other regulars, are forever tagging their opposition….Rep.Alan West recently opened a Pandora Box by tagging the D.P….which drove Maxine Waters into a rage….the Black Caucus in Washington is outraged and if you notice the media is not touching this….silence……So for Van Jones …..The Democratic Party Pedophilia Plantation that he is trying to oversee….will not work….As a Country we have allowed the D.P.Plantation to use our children as human shields….for hunger, for education…while they were using these children as personal sex toys in the class room….this did not just start in the last 20 yrs. ….I don’t turn the other cheek when someone attack’s , I attack back….. the Democratic Party Plantations with its minions of overseers have run amuck…..
When you are being attacked you need to fight back….The Democratic Plantations is using Alinsky’s hand book…I will use it against them…..We must learn how to tag them and do as they do , constant attack till it sticks….Right now they are beside themselves with fear….since a congressman tagged them….it drove Maxine Waters over the cliff and Charlie Rangle whom Laura Ingram interviewed would not go there….
I see no need for a left wing Tea Party. The liberals already have the unions dong their dirty work, what more do they need.
A left wing “tea party” will never be able the gather the large crowds like the tea party movement. However, if ten “left wing tea partiers” stage a rally somewhere, it will be covered by the major networks.
It’s the Coffee Party, reheated.
Reheated coffee tastes god awful, and so will a left wing tea party, which can not be because the Tea Party was started by conservatives that want less taxes and less government and as we all know leftist or communist are for all government all the time in as many places as possible by any means possible even if constant lying to others is part of the means!
watch for al gore to run independent for presdient as a warmerbagger party candidate
Pretty snazzy title there,”Emergency Jobs to Create, etc. etc. etc. Sort of rolls of the tongue, a kind of poetry, memorable, so literary. Assuredly there are tons of really new, fresh ideas, like handing people rakes and paying them to rake the grass and leaves in the park, real progressive things, original. Stuff that Obama and a whole line of leftists before him never thought of. Thanks to the Van & Jan team, morons never die, their brains just fade away.
Something’s off here. Must be some DC elite deal. Michael Steele was shilling a Left Tea Party on the Daily Show last night. Saying what happened in Wisconsin was the beginning of the Progressive Tea Party. Really, go watch. Stewart ends saying Steele would make a very good Democratic Party Chairman.
http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-august-17-2011/michael-steele?xrs=share_copy
Thank goodness for Ron Radoosh who lived amid the communist infestation of the 1930s and 40s and can dissect its tactics and ambitions.
Van Jones’ left wing tea party movement is doomed to failure because the neo communist movement can’t exist in daylight. It must, as it did in that era, exist in secretive cells plotting takeovers and manipulating the media. If the real tea party has accomplished one thing, it is taking the fiscal conservative movement out of the closet. They (we) turned out in droves for rallys in 2009 and realized we were the mainstream, not a kook fringe the liberal media had tried to portray us. Many of us became politically active and we turned the House around by a massive 63 seats. Our movement won’t die.
On the other hand any left wing “populist” movement must inevitably be a top down operation, with leftist idealogs attempting gain a following. That model isn’t working and is doomed to failure. It simply can’t generate the enthusiasm of the real Tea Party.
He tells her that when Obama leaves the White House in 2016, he might have to “block the driveway” to prevent him from leaving.
I’m very sure Van Jones would like Obama to be President For Life. Fortunately, this idea draws the derision it deserves.
Sounds good until the military shows up.
Not a problem Obama right now is defeated even with massive fraud in voting he is definitely a one term mistake, kinda like Carter except even to a grander scale!
Now keep in mind that even though with circumstances as they are now and will reain if not worsen due to his poor decisions, do not give up the desire to rid our country of this insanity and criminality that is ruining our great nation…praying would also help!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….If there is a “Con Artists Hall of Fame” then an entire wing should be devoted to Van Jones. He knows the Left the way a jeweler knows the workings of a watch. As the head of this effort I am sure he will be well-paid by various lefty contributors complete with car, expense account, travel account etc. He will receive this lagesse in addition to whatever he is conning from the nutjob foundation or “think tank” he is affiliated with at the moment.
The “Tea Party” was a legitimately spontaneous movement of adults (note “adults”) who rallied around the fundamental precept of fiscal responsibility in government. Whatever Mr. Jones has in mind will simply be another childish manifestation of left-wing agitprop and self-indulgence. Well….He can expect to be well-paid for it.
This is the street-theater version of air america: superfluous, disconnected from the mainstream, disconnected from reality, and equally inept. the Left learns nothing, forgets nothing, and cannot convince anyone, beyond government-dependent rabble, and rich libtards. let ‘em waste their money and energy.
“This is the street-theater version of air america”
Perfect.
This shall likely be every bit as successful as Air America.
The political-economic environment can lend to some pretty unsavory movements!
The ‘human’ devistation stemming from the ’29 crash, Dust Bowl and Depression opened the doors to the scoialist and communist movements increased visability and indeed, increased successes.
Sadly, the hard data is mounting as an effective tool for such a movement to be perpetuated in America today. The wealth disperity, the tax disperity, the poverty, joblessness and political, capitalist and financial corruption are ripe for an uprising by the socialist-communist side. When human fear can be directly correlated to factual supporting data that even the most common of folks can understand, it provides for a pretty solid foundation of such movements. Its no longer a matter of the ‘usual’ political theorists and philosophers superficial rhetoric..its fact based! Thats pretty powerful!
The ‘usual’ and ‘traditional’ politics of monsterous failure will lend to solutions that would not normally be considered by the masses. Does the movement being referred to have solutions to support their rhetoric? Indeed they do! An age old solution that has evolved with the times. They’ve not been asleep like most Americans over the decades.
When enough folks become scared and desparate, a deconsolitdated and decentralized economy will start sounding good! Ecomonic parity of wealth will start sounding good! Tax parity will start sounding good! Labor parity in industrial and commerce management will start sounding good! That social equality and justice thing will easily make sense to the scared and desparate! And guess what! It can all be touted and executed within the exact same framework of the exisiting constitution!
The communist-socialist-progressive are always very smart, patient and strategically prepared for the most opportune social, economic and political times of crisis to engage. They’re masters of understanding human emotions!
Who knows if now is the precise time and circumstance for them to really fire up and engage but, the environment is certainly moving in their direction, especially, if things don’t turn around post haste for the masses of people losing their tiny bit of wealth and sliding towards ‘income’ poverty and survival insecurity.
“The ‘usual’ and ‘traditional’ politics of monsterous failure”
Aren’t you describing communism here?
“will lend to solutions that would not normally be considered by the masses.”
And doesn’t this describe the Tea Party?
Excellent analysis there TT. The problem is that everywhere your socialist solutions have been tried they have failed in spectacular fashion. That is also fact based.
["The problem is that everywhere your socialist solutions have been tried they have failed in spectacular fashion."]
You are absolutely correct to a point. Like I said, those folks haven’t been asleep for decades and have ideologically evolved over the last few decades. The have and continue to evolve around democratic Market socialism models with flexibility. Those experiements are going one in various emerging markets of today who, at the moment are the only sustaining economies so long as the global consumer markets don’t errode to much more. These are also the places where so much of our domestic majority wealth holders are investing their money today.
Thanks for your response!
TT, thank you for the reply. Indeed you are correct in that the communists/ socialists/ progressives (I call them liberals) have become more sophisticated. Our President is one who graduated from the Midwest Academy of Stealth Socialism as described in detail by Stanley Kurtz in his book Radical-in Chief. They have mastered the art of selling snake oil and making it sound like baseball and apple pie, precisely what Van Jones is attempting with his new astro-turf organization. And yes their ideology has also become more sophisticated because they can achieve their social objectives through regulation and community organizing rather than through ownership. After all if you have all the rights of ownership without the cost of ownership, then you have achieved victory. As for your remark that the only sustainable economies are socialist emerging markets, well there you have lost me. The sustainable economies are the mature economies. Investment pours into the emerging markets until the returns no longer make sense and then it stops. Capital is not stupid. Would you suggest that Venezuela has experienced an increase in direct foreign investment since Chavez took over? No I don’t think so. Not much foreign investment in Cuba, North Korea or Iran either.
OMO…Thanks for your reply and mature thoughts! I was referencing the only substantial growth markets of the past few years and at the moment. They are China, Brazil, India and Vietnam. There are also other smaller emerging markets but like so many American small business are under capitalized in todays globla economic environment.
As a side bar, let me address this also. Bringing the national debt publically in the domestic and global limelight was one of the most reckless moves I can ever remember. The matter of the USD being replaced as the global economic backed currency has been on the table in more recent years with a much more serious tone. I think we can rest assurd after the debt debacle staged by the TeaParty-GOP as an economic and joblessness diversion there is going to be some serious discussions around the globe and potentially some diasterous consequence to the U. S. down the road. The only thing that has kept ‘friends’ and foes hanging to the U.S. and the USD is our printing presses. Eventually in certain of circumstances the printing presses become irrelevant. We’re moving in that direction rather fast at the moment indicating at many levels the free market capitalist system has failed…..at least, in the minds of many around the globe. Then comes what it has done to further errode Americas consumer confidence! That to is devistating and deters our refiring the economy!
Its obviously there are no real solutions on the table –OR — corrupted ‘politics’ and capitalism are willing to risk the nation and its future well being for some self serving motives. If you were China, India, Brazil, the energy states or any other economic force in the world would you be sitting content with the USD going into the future? Certainly, I wouldn’t think you’d be content with the Euro either, going forward. It was a stupid, reckless move bringing our debt front and center to the domestic and global stage!
So..what you are saying, in a roundabout way, is that Obama is doing this on purpose. You are probably right. Finally.
Why doesn’t he just call it “useful idiots?” It would honor tradition and be truthful. They could award a Duranty Prize for favorable news coverage. The Times would be all over that.
The TEA Party isn’t, by and large right wing. Small government is small government for transnational statist, monarchists and theocrats. (The latter two of whom are right wing.)
It’s a false dichotomy to oppose the TEA Party and Van Jones leftist dream clique. Not because they aren’t opposed, but because we’re actually talking about a trichotomy, the “right” of which doesn’t exist much here in the U.S., but does exist well in places like Saudi Arabia. If Sarah Palin is teh r1ght wing eleventy!1!, then what is Bassar Assad? What are the Mullahs? We know what the tragectory of Hopenchange is – toward a collectivism more in line with the dreams of his missing communist daddy. But the tragectory of smaller government does not favor a church or a royal family.
Those of us in favor of smaller government need to push hard on this point. “Moderate” isn’t a progressively deeper form of collectivism under transnational statism, monarchism or theocracy. Moderate is not collectivism. Moderate is you leave me alone as much as humanly possible, and I’ll leave you alone as much as humanly possible and we can compete outside of the government in the marketplace of ideas. If I want to convert you, I do it with my arguments, not with my laws, truncheons, guns and prison cells. And if I want you to help me in a great cause, I convince you with justice, not with tax law.
Nice try Amos but you fundamentally confuse theocracy with the political right wing which is a common misunderstanding or rather slandering by the left and the media. This misunderstanding suggests to you that Assad and the Saad’s are right wing. Assad’s politics are a direct descendant of the Nazi’s, similar to the Baath Party that America expunged in routing Saddam. Please recall that Nazi was shorthand for National Socialism, a collectivist philosophy. Further, the Islamic religion is politically collectivist and authoritarian, which is why suicide bombers are glorified for their sacrifice to the Umma, the universe of believers. None of these are on the right side of the political spectrum. Why do you suppose the Arab Middle East was aligned with the Soviets during the Cold War? The principals of which you speak fondly are libertarian.
The Coffee Party beat him to it. lol
If ever there was evidence of how pea-brained the left is, the name “The Coffee Party” in response to the Tea Party is it. And then some.
George Russell, JR, the Seattle Washington billionaire (pension fund pioneer) and the man behind ONE is the best kept secret of the Hard Left. His money is never-ending and he is virtually invisible. Consider this: CAIR and ICNA are to be part of the 9/11/11 commemmeration with Bloomberg/Cuomo/Christie’s blessing.
http://wwwtwosetsofbooks.blogspot.com/2011/08/exclusivecair-icna-to-be-part-of-91111.html
Sounds like they have everything going for them except members.
The Tea Party is to the right of the run of the mill Republicans. How do you get to the left of the Obama Democrats????
That’s a real flappin’-in-the-breeze movement if there ever was one. Anybody who is familiar with Van Jones would want nothing to do with his overtly communist agenda. And those who are not familiar with him don’t care enough to waste their time, energy and money on his wannabe Tea Party. That leaves him with nobody except the fanatic eco-freaks, the union parasites, and the hardcore America-haters. And contrary to popular belief, there aren’t that many of them left.
I look forward deeply to 2013, when the new Republican president takes office, and to watching the capitol police haul Jones off the White House roadway.
This column is well ended on a note of humor. Van Jones is a joke, and so is his movement.
Anyone care to predict his future? My guess: he replaces Nancy Pelosi when she retires, thus throwing his lot in with the good ol’ bloated corporatist sellout establishment Democrat machine.
Amos! Looks like you coined a new word I really LIKE.
“Tragectory”
Tragedy + Trajectory = Tragectory
Describes the results of the efforts of the left perfectly.
Nothing like a good neologism!
Thanks!
Van Jones will fail in 2012 but we should not underestimate their long term goals. Took Ayers/SDS 50 years to find their President and they have pushed hundreds of libs into the civil service, especially leftie lawyers. They have deep deep pockets including SEIU and AFL-CIO that will bring 15 million potential voters. Soros OSI will be around after he is gone and the billionaire club Democracy Alliance are working for Globalism to the detriment of the USA. In addition to soros money, researching George Russell, Jr was interesting. His foundations are quieting supporting islam, asia, and globalization.
The left’s control of the media, except FOX, enables them to work in the shadows. Russell needs to be brought into the light.
Henry…["As if the rest of the world has not been aware that the US is the biggest debtor the world has ever seen. Do you really think this was a secret? Are you so unaware of world leaders’ very public comments about our horrific debt?"] Do you ever read what ‘you’ write?
Nobody said a thing about debt being a secret from world leaders!
What also wasn’t a secret was the congressional ‘circus’ directed by the TeaParty-GOP put on the world stage for ALL to see and evaluate as corrupted and incompetent idiots.
What also wasn’t a secret was the the incompetent leaders of the world sitting in Washington left the impression to the world that the economy of the nation was unable to support the debt going forward when in fact the national economy is approximately $188 Trillion.
What also wasn’t a secret was the S&P downgrade more because the congress was incompetent and held hostage by TeaParty-GOP contract with a non elected special interest group.
What also wasn’t a secret was how the ‘circus’ further degraded consumer confidence slowing down manufacturing, declining whsl and retail, declining home sales, declining stock market and increased layoffs.
What also wasn’t secret is how the global economies further lost confidence in the USD.
A TeaParty-GOP created ‘circus’ that showed the world they were incompetent and willing to bring the nation down further for self serving ‘political’ motives. Most likely because they needed a diversion away from fixing the private sector economy and joblessness…for which they have no solutions for and believe they can gain ‘political’ leverage by sustaining the problems up to election time and blame the president.
So talk all your arrogant talking points you want, but they unnecessairly showed to the world what corrupted, self serving and reckless idiots they are…want to be leaders of the world!
TT, I am not stalking you. But I must respond to your rant. You have assumed bad faith on the part of the tea party apparently eschewing the possibility that they perceive a staggering national and fiscal ruination in the debt build up under this president and the previous Congress’s policies. Recent studies show that the larger a share of government becomes as a proportion of the economy, growth is sacrificed as a direct result. We have increased governments proportion of our GDP by 5% in the past decade and many believe this is a path to ruin. Further, it is being done by borrowing $0.40 for every dollar spent on this expansion. The results of this experiment are not encouraging as we are on the cusp of a double dip receession. Many of us disagree vehemently with this direction. Some would even suggest that the President is deliberately trying to destroy our country as a pretext for introducing a more socialist system as you have argued above. But that would be questioning his motives and there is a reluctance on the part of fair minded conservatives to take that step. There apparently is rarely a reluctance on the part of liberals to take that step.
OMO….I welcome your comments anytime!
I’m more favorable to tracking tax rates to tax receipts as a percentage of GDP. For example: 1960 (91%:9.8%), 1980 (70%:9.4%), 1983 (50%:9.2%),
1993 (39.6%:7.7%) and 2010(35%:6.3%). (OMB – 2011 Top Rate Chart)
I also like to use the below chart to see whose paying the taxes… Individual v. corporations. Historical Source of Revenue as Share of GDP. (First column)
http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxfacts/displayafact.cfm?DocID=205&Topic2id=20&Topic3id=21
TT, Your chart inadvertantly appears to make the point that across 70 years of tax policy and a variety of political combinations of executive and legislative majorities, never were receipts in excess of 20.9% of GDP including off-budget (which are presumbly contributions to trust funds). Therefore, how can anyone defend a federal spend rate of 25% of GDP? That is the equivalent of a high speed rail to fiscal oblivion. It demonstrates conclusively that the spending is the problem, not the tax revenues since no tax regime even under FDR or any other president, generated near the revenues to support that profligacy.
Sorry was out of town for a couple days.
Not sure what ‘chart’ you’re referring to. I posted from 1960 forward at certain points to indicate a tax rate and percentage of revenue versus GDP. The approximately current 35%:6.2% percent is at a historical low.
You seem not to have spoken to the other chart indicating “individual v. Corporate” rates.
A left wing Tep Party is called a union.
If Ms. Pelosi wants to talk about AstroTurf again she need look no further for inspiration than Van Jones’s faux tea party commie/leftist American Dream Party.
Hey, this lefty “Tea Party” deal could be kind of neat. It would be a lot like the real thing, except it could be held on a workday, the concession stands would only take food stamps, and they would trash the place when they were done.
There is a simple reason a Tea Party of the left will not work. Oh, they can organize. That’s obvious with the existence of the Democratic Party.
But what makes the Tea Party special is that the people at their rallies – are people who don’t go to rallies. The people getting involved are people who don’t get involved. The paradox is the thing. This constituency are people who are so angry with how things are going, they are finally fighting back. They are the silent majority – who are no loner silent.
That’s something the left can never match, because they never shut up.
