What is this “Slate” thing that Mr. Weisberg works for? Must not be very much to it.

As per the Fox News example I’d rather be told facts plus opinions than opinions as facts, ala the rest of the bunch. That’s even true across the pond with the BBC. They aren’t “journalists”, so much as they are “fablers” and lack the integrity to admit it.

Apart from the Network news, when I usually watch Charlie Gibson, I turn to Fox most of the rest of the time. I will always stop to hear Chris Wallace, Britt Hume, or a couple other of their correspondents. I am a little embarrassed that I watch O’Reilly almost every night. He is full of himself and maybe not that knowledgeable, but he makes the most effort to be balanced. But even he knows where his base is, and his promos like all the others play shamelessly ALL THE TIME to some provocative, unpleasant “question” about Obama or his cohorts. They know that this is red meat which will pull in a huge percent of righties and a fair number of centrists will come for the back and forth.

Foxes’ promotional stance IS the most clearly biased of all the networks, but you may well hear more at least quasi-legitimate back and forth on O’Reilly than on other networks. Hannity is virtually unwatchable; Beck is on too early and wierd in a way I don’t feel drawn to, although I can take him in small doses on O’Reilly.
