Mr. Radosh: It's not the fact of Obama that should cause derangement;Obama is what he is,and anyone willing to look could see what he was:a totally unqualified marxoid thug and puppet of the left. What can derange anyone,is that a majority of Americans voted for this epicene princess Diana of American presidents, over a vastly more qualified war hero.My contempt for that majority is infinite.

Where the heck is this widespread Obama Derangement Syndrome other than mischaracterizing disagreement with his experience, actions, mis-steps, contradictions, and policies as personal deranged attacks on the person. Ok, sure,t here are some fringies going after his citizenship and "muslim" background" but those are truly fringe noises that don't get any significant play. Whereas BDS consisted of accusations of criminality, stealing elections, stupidity, being AWOL, participation in 9/11, etc-- all with MSM nad National elected leader amplifiying it as if they were credible claims. This accusation of ODS is simply an attempt to equate rational political disagreement with the over the top behavior of the left during the Bush administration. Building on that meme allows teh MSM to dismiss out of hand legitimate disagreement with the Obama administration policies. It's more mainstreaming of double speak.

38. Jeff Weimer . . . "Overall, I feel that conservatives will treat this president with far more respect than GWB received from the left. I think we expect to play by certain rules of decorum, while the left has abandoned it. If we continue to do so, as Horowitz seems to be warning us to do, we will regain and retain the moral high ground."

From just this one post:

Hmm. I just cannot seem to be able to find one, singularly complimentary thing about 0bama to like or even tolerate.

The Anti-Christ is Obama and his minions are Pleosi and Reid and Frank.

Obama is praiseworthy insofar as he can’t be trusted to keep his word.

Obama is doing his best to destroy America.

Man, how I wish I could be an irresponsible clueless moron like Obama.

The first “MUSLIM ” president Of a “CHRISTIAN NATION

Do I despise the leftist loons who have taken over our government. You bet I do.

Obama was not elected based on a platform. He appealed to all who wanted to feel the moral superiority of having voted for an “Halfrican-American”.

Now, I hate communists and I view him as one, evil, communist.

Do I harbor bitterness and resentment toward our current administration and its policies? Hell yes.

I have my doubts about “Obama the socialist” - seems more like a fascist

Again, that's just from this one post. Wan to go bigger? Listen to Rush and Hannity and Levin and the rest. They are uniformly and relentlessly bashing everything Obama says or does, many times before he says or does it. Yeah, that's some mighty respect. Guess that high ground's gonna remain juuuust out of reach. Too bad, it really was your only chance - mend your rotten ways and join the human race, exhibit a little humility, take a little responsibility. Apparently you prefer to stay with that "greed, incompetence and arrogance" martyrdom platform that got you kicked out the last two elections. Good luck with that.

The trouble with your argument, and with Horowitz's argument, both of which I largely agree with, is that they ignore the feeling of utter powerlessness many of us on the Right have. Part of the anger directed at the President is directed at who he is: a product of a liberal elite that now is overtly governing us. Before, this elite could make all of us use our tax dollars for other people's abortions, spend money on grade schools, high schools and colleges teaching everything but the basics, and concede power and money to unions.

Now it's even worse, in that they have control over security, and are only very reluctantly embracing the notion of "keeping us safe."

Horowitz and you are right: the birth certificate junk and other examples of nutcase invective are unacceptable. But then you both immediately talk past everyone who wants to have a say governing their country - all of us know that foreign policy isn't really a place we have a say. All the protests about torture didn't stop a thing until an election. You're both talking to the Beltway elite without knowing it.

You need another notion of partisanship in order to advance your call for moderation. You need something that engages those who - rightly - see the world crumbling around them, and see Leftists and anarchists in control as the advent of the last man. Just because we should be moderate and give the benefit of the doubt doesn't mean that our political opponents are a good thing: their politics are that of throwing a tantrum, blaming everyone else for everything, and bribing their constituents for votes. It's very hard for many - esp. those taking bullets for this country as we speak - to conceive of what could be a bigger insult.

Regarding the notion of partisanship you need to advance, in order to create a moderate politics generally: What can we reasonably expect from Partisanship?

59. Fred

I agree with you. Why people would not research Barack Obama is beyond me? I did, and what I found was disturbing.

Many of the Independents that voted for him, are apparently having second thoughts and a type of hangover.

Adding to what you stated, Obama so-called autobiography was an attempt to remake himself politically and hide the truth, in the realm of Mein Kampft. Half-truths, lies, and omissions are rampant.

Father died in an accident, but never mentioned it was his 2nd one while intoxicated, the first one having caused the lost of his legs.

Less than candid on extensive drug use, etc, etc

Then of course his associations: "Tell me with whom you hangout and I will tell you who you are."
