Completely agree w/David Thomson; Obama is an unqualified SUPPORTER of homosexual marriage, like almost all the Democrats. He simply knows it's unwise to say so...YET. The fact that BOTH Obama and Biden have refused to support Prop 8 in CA, where Californians can act to PREVENT homosexual marriage from being forced on their cultures and communities proves that Obama and Biden favor it. They're just too politically smart (or gutless) to say so.

Also found Meachem's piece to be rather typical left-wing analysis, Ron. Can't say I'm too impressed w/your blog. Perhaps you should go back to trashing Stan Evans and his research on "McCarthyism"? JMO, anyway. To each his own.....

I find it astonishing that anyone with knowledge of Barak Obama's past alliances and history could take any campaign promises or policy positions he declares as an indicator of what he might do if elected. He comes from a radical tradition that hides their agenda from the voters until power has been achieved. The essential Obama is revealed in his and Michelle's candid statements, their associates and history. The question is how radical will he and the Dems go if he wins.

"Without the war hard times would have continued."

That's only the half of it. FDR was also forced to call off his New Deal bureaucrats who were constantly harassing the so-called evil capitalist bosses. The start of WWII essentially compelled his administration to abandon many of its anti-capitalist policies.

"Unemployment, he notes, declined from 33 per cent when he took office to half of one per cent when he died 12 years later." Please. It was thirteen percent on the eve of WWII. Without the war hard times would have continued.

"Obama is against gay marriage"

That is pure nonsense. Barack Obama is lying---and his hard core followers know it and simply shrug their shoulders. They know Obama is simply conning the rubes. The evidence of his left-wing radicalism is beyond dispute, but he is being helped by those who prefer believing in a fantasy. I found this very interesting observation a little awhile ago on the National Review website:

"Rooting for Lying [Jay Nordlinger]

Got an interesting letter from a friend yesterday — a marvelous academic. (Yes, they exist.) (Often, they are under cover.) She said, “I wanted to pass on to you a comment made by a friend. The occasion was Kenneth Adelman’s endorsement of Obama, along the same lines as Hitchens’s. My friend commented that Adelman, like others who’ve gone that route, actually hopes Obama is lying — or is at least insincere — about his intentions and plans.”

Continued my friend, “I was struck by the significance of this comment, since it represents a complete reversal of what traditional supporters of a candidate worry about: that the candidate will not keep his promises. I don’t remember encountering this odd phenomenon in any other election.”

Mr Radosh, thank you for your attempts to cool down the fevered brows at this time in history. I hope you are right, that Obama, IF he is elected, will govern from the centre.

His record, however, has not shown that he has much gumption at all. Recently, when he was in that financial crisis meeting in Washington, backed by Pelosi and Reid, etc., the meeting fell apart into shouting, etc, indicating to me that in Obama cannot dominate other politicians during a crisis. This does not bode well for the future of the USA and the world.
