Mcgreevy is yet another public example of people (especially celebrities and politicians) who have failed to take responsiblity for their entire life, and now expect kudos for saying something they should have said decades ago. This failure of accepting personal responsibility for the consequences of one’s actions is a psychological epidemic on the Left (but, of course, is not limited to that side of the political spectrum!). Other defense mechanisms that are rampant (and that McGreevey typifies) are Denial, Projection, and Distortion. The Democrats don’t have an exclusive hold on these psychological strategies, but since 9/11 they have made them their official policy.
