Nat: Mr. Simon does not say a word about turning America “into a European style of government where the leadership changes frequently and there is no stability.” Not one syllable implying any such thing. is in Roger L. Simon’s blog. What you’re engaging in, as you doubtless know, is a tired old argument known as reductio ad absurdum and it doesn’t have legs to stand on here.
You then write, “In America our presidents serve out the term they were elected to, unless they die or are named Richard Nixon.” News flash: we have a new standard. A president who can’t preside, govern effectively or lead is at least as useless and dangerous as an impeached or even dead president.
There’s nothing either conservative or liberal about this column. It is simply good common sense. That’s not “European style” anything. It’s a way peacefully to end a dreadful national mistake.
