If the Democrats Protest Ohio…

Another thought from this weary (and in the best of time painfully weak) mind…

I just half listened to two talking heads on FNC. One seemed to be suggesting that this election’s turnout numbers were something less than meaningful and that “inertia is the most powerful force in the universe”; i.e, nothing particularly noteworthy really happened yesterday. The other talking head, a woman, seemed to be suggesting that Bush’s win can be seen as nothing more than the people being afraid (my term, not hers) to accept change in uncertain times.

I think those are excellent example of the disorder the “elites” suffer from. They really do think we are a bunch of inetia-ridden dummies afraid of change. I don’t believe this is the case. I believe there was significant recognition by the electorate, and that it was demonstrated yesterday, that the world is changing and that Bush recognizes that better than John Kerry does.

I know that my support for Bush is not based on a desire to “not change”. It is based on desperately hoping we can change quickly enough to meet a whole long list of new challenges rather than continuing to pretend we are faced with the same old challenges we’ve faced for the past 30 years or so. Its a new freakin’ world and if we don’t get braver in a big hurry we’re gonna be sorry.
