All of your comments fall in the ‘sad but true’ category. There was even an ex-Shin Bet head, obviously a success in Israel’s establishment, who fronted for one of Arafat’s Swiss or Austrian accounts after his career was over. Can’t recall his name; he has passed away of cancer.
There is no doubt in my mind that American ME policy has in fact catered to the ‘need’ to arm both sides of the Arab-Israel conflict. Now more F15s to Saudi Arabia, supposedly deprived of long-range capabilities. Those will no doubt come later. And it is not as if policymakers in the West truly believe that peace will break out if ‘land for peace’ works. It is convenient cover for appeasement of Arabs and for profit. The greatest error of many of Israel’s strategic thinkers (most ‘so called’) is to so willingly succumb to the West’s phony overtures.
