lol – I rest my case. Anyone else still need evidence of the personal investment left wingers have made in this affirmative action nonentity? I suppose this personal investment is what’s left so many of them in denial. Much more than white candidates, 0bama was expected to be a transformational figure, and perhaps he believed it himself. Early on, 0bama’s poor work ethic, brittleness, and inability to empathize with his opposition should have been obvious. But then, self deception is much easier than rational appraisal of what a politician can be expected to achieve. Better to foam at the mouth, and attribute concerns about 0bama to ODS or some other psuedo-psychological phenomenon.
“He’s been sheltered that novody [sic] has ever challenged him because there was really no opposition in any position he’s ever held.”
There’s an element of truth to that, but I believe he’s aware that large elements of his own party don’t respect him. Recall how several prominent Dems have pointed out that he still has little political seniority in the party. The congressional Dems, especially, resent someone who does little of the political “dirty work” but is always eager to take credit for legislative successes. Jesse Jackson, the Clintons, Harry Reid, and others have revealed their contempt for him at one time or another. I believe one of them even made a nasty comment about 0bama being a shoeshine boy (try to imagine the media’s reaction to a Republican saying that).
In many ways 0bama is akin to any other underqualified token “kicked upstairs” to a figurehead position within a company. Deep down, he knows that his position is largely ceremonial, and that people other than himself are the real powerbrokers. If he fails to deliver in November and in the remaining months of the presidency, expect to see him get taken down and replaced with a “serious” candidate – most likely a White Southern populist – to show America that the dems aren’t trying to gain points for novelty this time around.
